Anything that makes it easier to keep up with the firehose would be great.
2362  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin secp256k1 not safe. Fails four tests. on: December 24, 2013, 01:31:03 AM
Even if secp256k1 was completely broken, isn't the attack window extremely small anyway as long as you don't reuse addresses?

Basically an attacker can only compromise funds if he can see the public key in an unconfirmed transaction, break it, and get a conflicting transaction mined all before the first one gets included in a block, right?
2363  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 23, 2013, 11:01:53 PM
I would love to see a bunch of coins dumped like that and see the market return to a fair price fueled by investor demand rather than speculation and games. If I could get a rock solid price like that which I could feel completely safe with, then I would hold my coins in codl storage and take a break from the exchanges and the charts.
I would love to see virtually all large holders of fiat miss the boat on Bitcoin and be effectively shut out from the future economy.
2364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become Tea Partied? on: December 21, 2013, 12:08:29 AM
Reality: how the mainstream public in the G7 countries does or does not react to Bitcoin is barely relevant.

If they are scared off by something that threatens their complacently - fuck 'em, there's another 6 billion people out in the world who have far more immediate experience with just how destructive government currencies can be.

I hope every single person who is offended by, "childish and frankly pathetic anti-government stances and bitchy rhetoric" stays as far away from Bitcoin as possible. They don't deserve the benefits of being early adopters.
2365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become Tea Partied? on: December 20, 2013, 11:53:10 PM
If bitcoin is to survive, it has to at least re-examine its childish and frankly pathetic anti-government stance and bitchy rhetoric.

Whether one agrees or disagrees with such sentiments, one thing's for sure: Majority of the public will not be convinced by what many will see as a bunch of computer-obsessed layabouts constantly raving about the 'guberment' and 'evil jewish conspiracy'.

Yes. Bitchy rhetoric. Even Che Guevara was considered a mere 'adventurist' by more experienced people of his time. They were eventually proven to be right.

Also, you need to work with at least part of the existing system or at least be prepared to do some negotiating with the system if you want any chance at this crypto going mainstream.

Seize power with going mainstream. Develop a trust-worthy and sound exchanges that doesn't always scam investors. Right now, crypto is not a place where you can put much trust.

Trust, and mainstream power. Build those two up and you won't end up in the dust bin of history. At least, you would have a better chance.

Lastly, this means no more idolizing of those two cowards Assaunge and Snowden as some kind of heroes. They were cowards whose actions clearly indicate they have more mouth than spine (china and russia? really?). They cut and run right against their so-called 'ideals' at the first sign of real trouble and have no backbone to deal with what they got themselves into. Their actions show how empty and pathetically naive/self-congratulatory they are. Frankly, it's embarrassing for people to put those two fools forwards as examples to follow.
Cool story.

At least your username is honest.
2366  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 20, 2013, 09:24:14 PM
The real take away for me was that entry point is wildly over-valued component (a coin flip might even return better odds), while the added components of setup, position sizing, risk management, expectancy, and exit are *all* required to actually avoid gambling and manage funds properly. We have a long way to go to have those tools available to us, laymen (albeit relatively smart ones), and I'm looking forward to that evolution.
If Bitcoin is successful then the only relevant factors is how many you manage to grab before it happens.

In that outcome currency exchanges are a transitional technology because in the end there won't be other currencies to exchange with.

If Bitcoin fails, then this this is all a bunch of meaningless gambling.
2367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mike Hearn, Foundation's Law & Policy Chair, is pushing blacklists right now on: December 20, 2013, 09:19:04 PM
My off-hand suggestion would be to 'know your members' and be clear that the DOX would be handed to law enforcement as part of an investigation driven by the Foundation itself in the event of a scam.

Actually, if I were setting policy I would only allow anonymity in unusual circumstances (for those using Bitcoin Foundation membership as a seal for business purposes.)  Inevitably, the reason for anonymity is to allow the option to take the customer's money and run whether that was the initial goal or just an operational decision which proved desirable at some point.
BF would have been a lot less controversial, and probably far more effective, if it had limited itself to hiring programmers/QA/etc for the reference client and stayed out of politics and other non-technical areas.

Have you heard of turtle trading? Simplest trading system-- I think it goes, if up 20 days (or whatever in BTC), then buy, if 20 down, sell. Has very good followers and record. Funny.
So... buy high, sell low?

This needs to be filled in:

Also, is it just me or is the forum more 502ey than usual right now?
2375  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: December 20, 2013, 12:21:57 AM
It's just for Sharedcoin transactions and not BIP32 yet but I hope that will be available soon.
That blockchain.info encourages address reuse is really the only significant complaint I have with your service.

Fixing that would be a great thing for privacy.

and the "if this goes on" linear extrapolations imply that BtC will badly damage stable governance, not to mention redistributive taxation systems and social security/pension nets if its value continues to soar (as it seems designed to do due to its deflationary properties).
This article is just the whining of yet another kleptomaniac who hates the idea of people being able to hold on to their own money.

Bitcoin is the ultimate freedom test. It tells you who is giving lip service and who genuinely believes in it.

Really? Is it not obvious?

The movement originated on btcchina. How do you feel about this?
I heard Loaded flew into China with a plane load of cash and bought all the bitcoins.
