Still don't get the following things:
1) Why organize a convention witch is almost 100% about the fact that there coming more conventions? I mean in a convention you announce things that are all about the subject the convention is about imho. So for instance that the Dutch, Russian and Arabic Bitcoin Show are going live next week. Or that the mainstream ad is gonna be live this month.
2) Bruce can better push this cruise money into his mainstream ad he announced a couple of months ago, seems a better thing for Bitcoin to me instead of a cruise.
Only by reading the trolls on this forum would you believe that the conference was even 5% about the next one. That announcement was made during the convention. It took a few minutes. The conference was so much more then that. Deals and connections where made. It was about discussion, strategies, new products (and there were many) and of course of bitcoin. Not only did I have a great time, I made money (in the form of BTC) and bought some cool stuff.

This is one of those times when a thread was important enough to be in the main forum. BTContilt.com looks good!

It's nice that someone helps, but due to the sound it's completely unwatchable. That's really too bad! Dear Bitcoin Show Team, WHY don't you get people to help you if you can't manage on your own? I am pretty sure it is being recorded by onlyonetv for the online use, the stream is not what the final upload will be.

Quick report from NYC on the conference - I've now met quite a few of the people and my impression is very positive. Lots of great discussions, and I can tell the energy level is high. Unlike the forums, everyone "gets" Bitcoin here. No tedious reiterations of why "deflationary spirals" are not a big deal, or why Bitcoin can't work because it's not "backed" by anything. The attendees get it, so the conversations are enjoyable on a higher and more productive level.
So many things being worked on - ideas are even just getting tossed around because people are already too busy working on their first and second and third projects. Real solutions are emerging for merchants... Bit-pay and BTCinch both look outstanding. MtGox is releasing a new site to make trading super easy (no ask/bid orders, just buy at market rate for Grandparents, etc.) Lots of networking going on, venue is very nice at the Roosevelt. Meze Grill easily handled over 25 subsequent, individual orders for lunch today in Bitcoin. I was worried it would get backed up, but process was almost as quick as if everyone was using credit cards. I'm seeing the Android wallet used everywhere, as well as iPad systems.
A diverse group. Americans and Europeans, multiple races, multiple demeanors, multiple areas of interest and specialty. Some jeans, some suits. Even a couple women! Lots of hand-shaking, smiles, and intelligent conversations.
Bitcoin is still very much an enthusiast community- on to something big, and waiting for the world to catch up.
+1 I agree. Still here and it has been great! Hearing about a lot of ideas and seeing lots of new products and services. There is a lot of energy here!

Merchants don't need to hedge any bets on the cost of Bitcoins as mtgox merchant api instantly transfers USD$ at the current rate with no buy or sell trade orders. If you are a merchant and accepting BTC that way, there is absolutely no way to lose money on exchange rates going up and down as you get the locked in rate at the time of the transaction. Watch an explanation from mtgox on the bitcoin show here if you have not heard of this yet: http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogwrap#p/u/7/KJAiGcKFtuE This is good information, but it is new. Not everyone knows or has the ability to do this yet. This should allow bitcoin shows to have lower prices long term as they can count on a pretty close dollar value from the sale. I do see prices lowering slowly for bitcoin vendors and when we have stable prices and people are not trying to sell the hottest video cards that are in short supply we should see some good deals.

There is a lot to consider. Consider that I have moved most of my hashing off of pools that are susceptible to hopping, and that others will too. Right now pool hopping gives you an advantage (and takes it from others who do not know or understand that their pool is being hopped) Read the threads below and see if your pool is mentioned (as being a good pool to take advantage of) and consider writing the owner, and if no changes are made, leaving. If you are not hopping, and on a pool that is being used by hoppers, you are probably loosing BTC. check out the bithopper thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=26866.0and the cherrypicking thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=33031.0

And what's funny is that these same people want to return to the "good old days" when the country was growing strong because there were no taxes on the rich... oh wait.. +1 The good old days when there was a middle class. The good old days when wealth was not concentrated into fewer and fewer peoples hands. I am not advocating huge taxes on the rich. Just taxes that are fair, and have proven to work well for the economy. When middle class people have money, they spend MOST of it and this creates more economic activity. When poor people have money, they spend ALL of it creating more economic activity. When rich people have money, they hoard it, slowing economic activity.

So, go give your money to apple, I'm sure they need it more than any of the persons that have shops that accept bitcoin... and while you are at it, ask them to accept your bitcoins. Unlike apple, that store has to pay 23% of VAT(€0,47 from those €2.50). I said it before and i say it again: Beatport charges €2,57 for each track ,VAT included. From those €2,57 they give the artist around €0.25... And using an analogy that will fit very well in here: you are comparing apples to oranges. Comparing a shop that has a catalog of millions of tracks against one that has 40 or 50 tracks. One more thing: The shop where i sent you PAID a bounty of $150 to develop the module that accepts bitcoin payments and gave it to the community. What did apple ever gave to this community? No, I do not give my money music money to Apple. My last purchase happened from watching a bitcoin video and liking the music: http://fadedpaperfigures.bandcamp.com/The majority of it has gone to local groups buying their CD's in person. Most of them charge $10 a CD or less. And your example, beatport giving the artist 1/10 is pretty bad, there are many outlets that give the artist 1/2 or more. And a bunch of artists do it ALL on their own, keeping the vast majority of the money. Bitcoin would be perfect for them.

I liked how I0coin had a countdown, that felt "fair" and probably helps smooth out the original distribution.
Yes, and how it made miners move to it even BEFORE IT OPENED!

But a fork has no choice but to start its own channel on the IRC. How else would it work otherwise, indeed ? Innovation?

Just one thing: The prices are in euros and the conversion to BTC is done real time when you make the payment, therefore your argument that things are overpriced when the price is marked in bitcoin is not valid here lol Oh, and don't tell me €2,50 is expensive for a music track, beatport sells them for the similar prices(€2,57)
You told me not to but sorry, I have to. 2.5 Euros is expensive for a music track. A single track. If it was an album then it would be cheap. I regularly buy music online for 99 cents a track or $10 an album. Most of what I have bought is from independent non-riaa groups. I would indeed go without at nearly $3 a track for music. I also, when going to concerts of smaller groups, have bought their entire back collection of CD's when they price them below $10, otherwise at $10 or more I buy just what I am sure I will like. A Cd costs $1 to make or less for most groups.

CryptoAnarchy will have a table at the BitCoin Conference in NYC. We will have our line of t-shirts and polos including a new design not on our website currently and should have multiples of most of our shirts in sizes S, M L, XL, 2XL. Also will have hundreds of stickers, bumper stickers, magnets and QR code stickers. We will give a free QR sticker to the first 100 visitors to our table. In addition to most of our website products, we will also be doing limited live trades of bitcoin for cash. If we have enough buyers to match sellers we will keep exchanging. If you anticipate needing to cash in or out of bitcoin let us know in advance via messages so we can reserve you funds. We will be charging 1%, minimum $1. No trades over $200. Looking forward to meeting all the folks we have talked to and sold to! http://cryptoanarchy.us/store

I am going to the bitcoin conference and see if there is anything new by then, after then I would have to go with the mageto-bitcoind approach. Hopefully a provider will come up with something soon. I had pretty good volume before and would love to be back to shipping products to the community.

I put my scrap stuff on ebay and get a surprising $3 a lb for scrap that I used to throw out. I collect it up an sell it in 25 lbs boxes and do calculated shipping.
As the market for scrap is pretty specialized, selling here would not make sense unless a bulk buyer was using bitcoins. I can write a note to each of my buyers just in case to try to get them on board, but I do not see it happening anytime soon.

I used to run opencart with the tabsa extension that routed through mybitcoin.com. For many months it worked great, with one known downtime for me, until the end of mybitcoin I lost no money for me or customers during the failure of mybitcoin. I have been looking for a replacement solution and so far nothing has come up except for the 'roll my own' running magneto and my own bitcoind on a server below: https://github.com/jalder/Magento-Bitcoin-Payment-Module#readmeThe problem is I need something with a 'back end' like virtumart, opencart or magneto. I can not use something like bitpay that has individual purchasing of single items (even if multipes can be carted) without a back end. I just have too many items for something like that. Any suggestions? Anyone ready with any new services that match my needs? I am willing to pay a percentage fee for something that does not require me to run my own server and bitcoind but at some point I need to move. My store has been down for a while now and I miss shipping items to people. What is everyone else using?
