And there I was thinking share prices were going to drop considerably with the last two dividends but still holding strong Smiley

I think the uptrend surprised a lot of people. That buying pressure shows that a lot of us had the same idea ie: buy it while it's on sale. I expected to see 0.20 before we were through, maybe we still will. I can always use more  Cheesy

Where do I buy ASICMINER shares now?

Havelock.com is good because:
a) you can buy  shares when you want, not when auctions are  running
b) you get the shares immediately, at a fixed price.
c) You can buy partial shares, the AM100 version. Direct shares are never sold like that.
d) You can convert AM1 shares to direct AM shares any time.
e) You know you aren't being scammed, there have been a few "dodgy" share auctions.

Was going to list why auctions are good, but I'll leave that to someone that prefers auctions to buying at havelock Smiley

The only good reason I can think of to buy @ auction is to avoid slippage on larger buys. Havelock is just dead right now, and price seems to be drifting higher regardless of dividend shrinkage.

I've had three friends pull their money out and walk away from bit coin over the past few days.

Well done market makers / manipulators!

Really?   They didn't know going in that this happens?   I am very careful to explain the risks and how these things work to my friends.   Not one is less interested now than they were, which is to say most are quite sorry they didn't buy when I told them they should  Tongue

Did your friends lose money?

He lost about 3-4K $... oh well

There was a lady who bought at $1000 posting on this forum who had to take out a loan on their house to buy her first BTC. Kept talking about her dad investing 3000 BTC and trying to convince her to make her first buy. I wonder what happened to her.  Embarrassed

She hodl and wait a few months. Pretty simple plan...
2945  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: December 20, 2013, 06:16:09 PM
The price was so high because there were no competitors: now that there are, there's little chance dividends can raise so much.
The price was so "high" because of percentage of the hash pie. Simple as that.

With just a 10% of network belonging to AM in any given time in future ... 2.5 BTC share price is easy.

And how could AM achieve such a high %?

10% would be about 5x what they have now. X network increase over the next ~4 months.  No reason to believe that much of it wion't be plug and play to a great degree, so deployment should be relatively quick.
the price was previously bloated by sales revenue, more than hash power. That part can never be so extreme again, but10% should be achievable + some sales =  nice price jump.

Hah, well to be honest I wish it WOULD go to 0.2 btc (you can verify that I recently bid for shares at that price). All I am really trying to say is that I think it's strange that shares were so closely correlated to the dividends and I don't expect that to continue. My argument cuts both ways though: if the tape out is not successful then I think the shares might go way lower than might be expected based on 30% apr dividends.

APR sitting in the 21-22% range now, the lowest in some time. Might just be that nobody is willing to sell cheaper, regardless of winter. Its not like this dry spell is going to take anyone by surprise, so quite possibly priced in. Perhaps it will take bad news to shake it lower. I would prefer good news at any time  Grin
2948  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: December 20, 2013, 03:22:23 AM
I'm curious why the share price went (very slightly) up, even though the divs were confirmed to keep sinking. Any idea/opinion?
I wonder if the "dry period" for the next months has been already fully integrated by the market. I doubt it, I've seen how much the price was correlated to each week dividends... but thus my suprise it doesn't tank further.

It really made no sense that they were so closely correlated in the first place. Do you think AM will pay more than 0.3 btc per share over the next 2-3 years?  Are you patient? If yes to both, you should buy today. If you want to wait for the price to go down you are bottom fishing and it may not work out for you.

The problem with buying today is just that we aren't expecting gen3 until April. That's a huge time interval, in bitcoinland at least, and just more risk.

Dividends weren't that bad this week, to my mind anyway. But if they go down considerably in the next month, so will the share price. Thats why I'm not buying at the moment.

I was thinking the same, but there sure seems to be a rash of enthusiasm for BTC0.29 AM1  right now on Havelock. Over 100 shares so far.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

did you guys see that?

I think one side buys up all the coins, then, realizes there's nobody left to play with, and dumps half of them back. Then they buy them up again, and repeat. Hence the oscillations in the price  Grin

It is wire.wire within China is cheap and instant

This is starting to get posted everywhere:

The front page of huobi.com says "银行汇款充值24小时到账,支持招商、建设银行。"

Apparently it translates to: "You can use the remittance to deposit fiat into our platform. The fund will be available in 24 hours. We support China Merchants Bank and China Construction Bank".

I know huobi is a Chinese exchange.  I know they're saying they are now accepting fiat via "remittance".  What is remittance though?  And they say they support two different banks. Is remittance like a cashier's check form one of these banks?  Is it a bank wire?

It looks like this exchange has found a way around the new regulations.

So do you believe this could be an answer for the Chinese problem?  Why were the exchanges and depositors having to use 3rd party payment processors, if they could just use the banks directly like this anyway?

anonymity I believe.  Direct bank transfers are of course documented, whereas it sounds like the 3rd party payment system less scrutinized?

But now it sounds like the 3rd party payment system is the one so heavily scrutinized.  Plus, were the Chinese really using BTC for things they felt they needed to be anonymous for?

I think if someone like OKCoin or BTCchina were to announce this, the price would explode.

It's hard to know what to think given the state of most translations. wanting anonymity has nothing to do (for me anyway) with NEEDING it. Its about NOYB. Any chance I have to NOT be recorded, documented, watched or otherwise controlled I tend to take. And that is before even venturing into the arena  of taxation.  We need more direct Chinese commentary to get a full picture.

I feel with total uncertainty the market will continue to react to news . Give me some good god damn news stat Dr.

Fed taper can be considered good news. Interest rates will go up, causing many large assets to drop in value. Payments on gov debt will go up too.

Then again, taper is in response to somewhat positive employment news. Improving economy not good for bitcoin imo.

Good thing the economy is not improving then!
Of course, the great thing about numbers is that they are just like people: torture them enough, and they will tell you anything you want to hear  Cheesy

New to AM Direct shares, is there a central place where all information is collected without having to read 800 forum pages?

- Shareholder list
- Dividend amounts
- ...

History is always important. Read it anyway. Lots of drivel, but solid info too.
Look on Havelock for last few months worth of divs, beyond that it gets harder...
