2021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -> Monero Community Hall of Fame <- on: December 28, 2016, 06:20:42 AM
First of all, I apologize for the amount of time that has passed since my ability to update this thread and the donation list. In light of that, I am sad to have to say that the time really has come for me to stop having the official capacity of updating this list. I know that it is very important to many. And I know that many have given the equivalent how many thousands of dollars to the development of this excellent cryptocurrency. So, at this time I would like to take applicants for my replacement. How should we, the community, choose the person who should Shepard this task from here on out?

I have recently added up the hours I have spent updating this list. It surprised me. It is not a trivial job, but it isn't that much of a load for someone who has the time to do it.

Thanks for your efforts to date.  For me at least, this thread is just in fun.  I haven't the time, resources or skills to contribute in other ways right now, so I appreciate what others do here all the more.  The large donors deserve recognition if they are willing to receive it.  I sincerely doubt we  could have progressed at anywhere near the rate we have without them.  I know there are some also who choose not to be known - thank YOU as well.  What a ride, and we've just begun!

...

That's the exact reason why I am donating to http://www.divineinformation.com/
You are right, they are not supposed to be there. They not only practice stealing (gezel) but even worse: they ridicule the name of the G-d (chilul haShem) which is even worse than stealing. To minimize sins they should hide their Jewishness in places like these.
Of course even better it is if they start acting like real kosher Jews and becoming an example to the rest of the world to make this world at least a little bit better place to live in.

I don't judge but I detest hypocrites, especially if they are pushing religion.

Resistance is crumbling, wish I had been able to acquire more last few months.
I've heard that it is futile anyway.
2023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 27, 2016, 07:46:56 PM
Okay so who else just made a bunch of money selling Monero when it hit 0.014 and buying back in?
 Grin
I fucking love trading crypto. So much fun when you cash.
(And so much pain when you lose money lol. Just as bad as a drug habit!)

I did really well trading the August  spike, cashed out enough gains to relax, and promptly lost a huge chunk of what was left.  Currently holding strong against temptation to trade.  I think the drugs may be safer  Tongue

XMR over $15 here in Canada.  September high was C$20.  2015 was a disaster year for me, 2016 one of the best ever on pretty much every front, despite some major setbacks.  Speculation on 2017?  Let XMR lead the charge!

Yahoo! 2017 XMR will take the lead. Although I don't want Ethereum to die as I also have too many investments under its banner.  Grin

Did I say C$15?  Touched C$18 briefly there   Cool

No we don't, the ability to have and hold value without monitoring is an inalienable right afa I'm concerned and i think everyone should hold that belief.

I agree. In addition privacy and anonymity are needed in order to ensure fungibility in crypto currencies, and fungibility is is a necessary requirement of money. Then there is of course the adaptive blocksize in Monero which ensures that there is no arbitrary limit on the number of transactions per second

People in this scene don't know how important and rare this is.

I have a question about adaptive blocksizes. What if Monero becomes truly successful and the active users reach 100,000,000. Will 50gb blocks be possible if transactions reach the touted Visa standard? If yes then how will the blockchain be maintainable?

I cannot offer any technical explanation, but consider that such a situation will not come to be any time SoonTM.  Growth beyond technological capabilities will be stifled until it is no longer beyond.  Ain't technology grand?

Cheap accumulation with that suppression going on don't fall for it. As soon as they're full it's going back up fast.

Here's my margin. Est. Liquidation Price   0.00807476

Called it the whole way hope you guys listened. Wink

You racking up some good dust, or has your luck at the tables changed enough to play deeper in XMR   :?)

In 2017, monero will surely beat ethereum and climb to number two on the charts...

It'll be the cash to btc's bank account. Slightly more ambitious than LTC. With an actual mission bigger than no 2 IMHO

MONERO - The Cash To Bitcoin's Bank Account

You know there's a war on cash, right?  Tongue

So cute that you guys still think that a GUI is going to be released.

LOL  put your head down, and get back to work.  There's nothing to see here.  Or Is There?
2031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 12, 2016, 10:38:35 PM
Yes. This kind of hedging strategy in order to minimize risk actually makes a lot of sense.

Yes, there is a reason why I'm still in the game, despite losing 700,000+ XMR in hacks, probably the biggest loss ever.

That's a considerable sum to lose , have you found out how it happened?

Sorry for the lose, I lost 1000+ bitcoins once myself in the early days

Can this be tied to any of the bigger sell offs or extended down markets?  Time frame?
2032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 09, 2016, 10:33:43 PM
So you left your family and your home?

How can you walk away from your family (wife and children) and your home (castle)?

No. I fled the family and my country (Finland). My home (castle) is in Estonia.

Aren't you rich? Just come to America

Now THAT made me laugh!

Good luck RP.  Keep busy, don't let depression burn you.

I am calling a bottom at 8888.

- Just feels like that
- Dip below 0.01 was defended with reasonable volume and bounced back above
- Hammer in daily yesterday (albeit red)
- In accordance with everything I said since the pump started
- Lucky number.

Reasonable strategy is to not play FOMO. It aint goin higher. Buy methodically especially on dips. Stop-loss at 8888 if on margin.

 Cheesy

Nice one

You'd think he'd have learned to stay away from the damn boats by now  Tongue

Hes asking for 34 dollars an hour right? I don't know how experienced and effective of a software developer he is, but if he is experienced and effective that sounds around about a market wage for that line of work.

I'm betting this could be contracted out for about half that.

I know you only follow bct so I'll let you know that anonimal isn't just some some coder.  He is the driving force behind the i2p kovri project.  I follow the dev meetings on irc and after that there is a kovri meeting.  anonimal has impressed me.  This project is needed for privacy while connected to the Monero network and will make Monero complete as far as privacy is concerned.  I have contributed some Moneroj to this funding request.

I guess it depends where you are and the cost of living.  From where I am, it sounds very reasonable (dirt cheap).  Especially when you factor all of the volunteer time in.  Not exactly a get rich quick scheme for a contributor of his caliber.
2039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: October 09, 2016, 10:49:58 PM

This was over subscribed, in a very short period of time. Many thanks to all who contributed.

what happens to the overage?  revise contract to suit?  These requests are funding before I see them!

I knew I should have bought some of this coin last night, after that fake story. Now it's up 10%.

LOL... You must be really new to Monero. Cheesy

Welcome to a better bitcoin! It's not too late if you do your homework. Thanks

I'm reading up about it. Though I see it does have some competition.

Well, keep reading then  Wink
