2941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Risks Of Bitcoin Going To Zero Has Gotten More Lower Than Ever on: November 16, 2020, 05:54:41 AM
I don't get this. Does it matter whether BTC becomes completely worthless or not? The current exchange rate is around $16,000 per coin. Let's imagine a scenario where the price dips by 99.9% to $16 per coin. For those who invested in Bitcoin at the previous level, this represents almost complete loss of their capital. For them, at this stage it doesn't matter whether the price of Bitcoin gets to $0 or $10.
2942  Economy / Economics / Re: Is COVID-19 an excuse for governments & central banks to print money? on: November 16, 2020, 05:44:21 AM
The goal of the government especially in the pandemic is to increase cashflow and liquidity due to inactivity caused by closure of businesses. There are several methods of increasing cashflow but printing money would only cause hyperinflation if not properly monitored.

That depends on a lot of factors. Central banks all around the world prints money and there is nothing special about it. Only in some extreme cases, we get to witness hyperinflation. If the central bank is able to maintain a stable exchange rate, then it doesn't matter. What happened in countries such as Venezuela is that the exchange rate was not maintained and this resulted in the national currency losing its value.
2943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does China FUD matter anymore? on: November 16, 2020, 05:34:25 AM
The Chinese government has probably realized that it is impossible to ban a decentralized asset such as Bitcoin. In order to ban Bitcoin, they need to shut down the internet. So they have restricted the exchange of cryptocurrency with fiat cash and seems to be satisfied with the results. The local users have discovered the loophole and instead of fiat, they are using stablecoins such as USDT and BUSD.
2944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk PSL T20 Pool and discussion. on: November 16, 2020, 05:24:04 AM
Multan Sultans scored 102 runs in 12 overs and lost 3 wickets. Their first 3 batsmen played very well. particularly I want to mention Adam Lyth's name, he played great. He has scored 50 runs off 29 balls. But none of their finisher batsmen were successful except Khushdil Shah. And so they lost the match.

Individual performances doesn't matter if they are not enough to guide their team to a win. Adam Lyth played a great innings yesterday, but once he reached his half century, he holed out to deep midwicket. For me it looked as if he was waiting to reach his 50, so that he could get out. At this point, Multan was 80/1 after 8 overs. Had he stayed on for a couple of overs, the outcome could have been different.
2945  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No Voter Fraud: International Monitors Praise US Election on: November 16, 2020, 05:15:32 AM
LOL.. I would like to see the names and other details of these 28 "experts". I am from Asia, and I would say that the election system in the United States is a complete joke. Even the third world countries have a better election system. And as far as the United States is concerned, the level of election fraud seems to go up with every passing election.

The entire "mail in ballot" procedure is prone to vote rigging (despite the ultra-leftists of CNN shouting 10 times a day that there is "no evidence" for the same). There is a reason why most of the countries in the world doesn't have this mail-in-ballot system. Because it is prone to fraud. Everyone knows what is going on in inner cities. Democrat activists collect the postal ballots en masse, and then mark them in favor of their candidates. That is how you have vote dumps of 3000 or 5000 at a time during the election day, all marked for Joe Biden.
2946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 16, 2020, 04:51:56 AM
I don't think they will leave De Kock. My guess is, they might hold on - Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock & Jaspreet Bhumra, and Hardik Pandya. I think de Kock played better than pollard. All teams will want to get an experienced opener like de Kock. And there are a lot of good players for the position that pollard is batting in. So I think they will give up pollard, and keep de Kock.

My justification is that de Kock can be replaced. But it is very difficult to find someone of the calibre of Kieron Pollard. If they release him, then he can easily fetch a price of more than $2 million during the auctions. And for de Kock, it is possible to replace him with some of the Indian players (Wriddhiman Saha or Dinesh Karthik if they are released by their franchises), or with international players (Joshua Phillipe, Tom Banton, Alex Carey.etc).

OP seemed to be doing a great job updating us with the figures necessary, but I have one suggestion, maybe the thread title will be edited according to the timely BTC dominant rate.  Like 50+% or 60+% (rounded off) if OP can't update it regularly.

I am not the OP. I can do the regular update, if the thread ownership is transferred to me.
2948  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-30] Bitcoin transaction fees jump by 570% over 12 days on: November 16, 2020, 04:10:44 AM
I don't check that site as a reference anymore, not reliable information in my opinion as they show 300 sat/byte while other sites provide better information regarding unconfirmed transactions on mempool, how much fees we have to pay, and how long it takes to be confirmed.
check these 3 sites ;
https://bitcoinfees.net/
https://mempool.space/
https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,8h

after check 2 sites on top, you'll know that there are over 15k unconfirmed transactions right now and 8 sat/byte should be sufficient which will be confirmed within 30 minutes.

Yes.. these sites looks like they provide more accurate statistics. BTW, I won't blame sites such as earn.com, which shows a higher median transaction fee. Their algorithm is designed to work like this. And they are accurate when they show 300 or 320 Sat/Byte as the median fee (because most of the users are paying this much fee). My suggestion is that they should add another column, to show how much fee is actually required, in addition to the median fee.
2949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 6 countries have more than 50% of BTC exchange traffic on: November 16, 2020, 04:00:26 AM
For some of the countries, I have a feeling that there may be under-reporting of data. For example, in India the local exchanges were closed down many months back and most of the trading occurs in peer-to-peer platforms. And most of these platforms may refuse to divulge trade volumes. The same can be said about other countries, such as China and the Latin American nations such as Brazil and Argentina.
2950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: November 16, 2020, 03:50:43 AM
If there are so much racism and violence in their country, their cricket will sink anyway. Their cricket board is corrupt. There is a dearth of quality players in their team, and I don't think their team will last very long if the white players leave the country.

I still have hope regarding South Africa. There is a lot of talent there. Despite the emigration of so many good players, they were still able to produce promising young cricketers. But the same can't be said about Zimbabwe. They have lost their competitiveness due to the outflow of white cricketers. The talent pool in Zimbabwe is not large enough to ensure the quality without the top players.
2951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 16, 2020, 03:38:20 AM
You are right about this and also IPL was not shown in any TV channels of Pakistan as well. Although there may be political tensions between the two countries but i think they should show all cricket tournaments which the public wants to see.

India is a much larger market for cricket, when compared to Pakistan. So obviously if there is any ban, it is going to have a larger impact on the PCB rather than the BCCI. Even for foreign franchise T20 leagues such as BBL and CPL, a large chunk of the audience and the revenues come from the Indian market. Pakistan's population is less than 1/8th of that of India and the revenues are proportionately smaller.
2952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 16, 2020, 03:25:59 AM
I agree with you that, at this time India have a lot of good pace bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah is an awesome bowler. Apart from that, India has some better pace bowlers. But the main thing is, although they have some qualityfull world class batsman , but most of their batsman are a little bit weak against pace bowling. I think it is the only weak point of Indian team. Hope they will recover it. And we will see a competitive series.

The Indian batsmen, apart from Virat Kohli can face pace bowling, but they can be quite inconsistent. If you remember the 2017 series, then it was Pujara who scored the most runs for India. So they have batsmen who can face world class pace attack. But the question is whether they will be able to do that on a consistent basis or not. Anyway, this time the indications are that CA will be preparing pitches that are more conductive to batting.
2953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 15, 2020, 05:25:37 PM
You are right. For a team like MI, DC, or SRH, with the exception of 7/8 players, it is difficult to select 4 players. . Because their team was very stable. This is the most difficult task for the Mumbai Indians. Because almost all of their players played well. Every player has a contribution to make to the team’s victory. Even no one was formless. I want to see which 4 players they choose.

Here is my guess. They may retain - Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah. They may bid really hard for Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav and Trent Boult, but it needs to be seen whether they will be able to get a majority of these players due to the limitation with the purse. But without players such as de Kock, Kishan and Boult, the Mumbai Indians would lose their identity that they built during this edition of the IPL.
2954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 15, 2020, 05:07:54 PM
It is not impossible for India to win a Test series against Australia, but it is very difficult. Teams like Australia or England are much stronger in pace bowling. And their country's fields are also very helpful for pace bowlers. On the other hand, Asian teams (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh)  are very good at spin bowling, but they lag behind in pace bowling. So it is much more difficult for Asian teams to win against Australia at home.

You forget the fact that India is also a pace powerhouse now. The current Indian pace attack resembles the Pakistani pace battery of 1990s, which included legends such as Wasim Akram, Aaqib Javed and Waqar Younis. The main difference between the two sides is that the Australians have batsmen who are very good against pace bowling, while India doesn't have a lot of such batsmen.
2955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 15, 2020, 04:55:26 PM
The IPL should let go of annual actions as it is impossible to get behind a team if you are following the team because of your favorite player in the team and if they keep on changing teams it is hard to follow a particular team, they already have the ability to transfer players and if i remember correctly every team has a limitation on the amount of money they can spent and these restrictions should be removed as well, let the open market decide the worth of a player .

I completely agree with your suggestions. This idea of salary cap is just crazy. They should remove it, so that the best players will receive the best contracts and salary package. Also, I believe that they should increase the number of players who can be retained to 6 from the current limit of 4. Anyway, if they remove the salary cap, then these retentions won't be needed. It is really irritating to adjust with the changing team composition after every season. There needs to be some stability in the squad composition.
2956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An Indian boy committed suicide after losing money by Betting in IPL on: November 15, 2020, 04:42:20 PM
I don't think that it has to be literal like loading it with a gun but it is a fact that it's like that if we're going to analyze it.
I've heard a lot of scenarios and experiences before about loaning money for betting but this is the worst. It doesn't have to end like that but it just so happened which is very sad and miserable.

This is not something that is very unusual. A lot of gamblers have had their lives ruined in a matter of one or two hours, as a result of the uncontrolled addiction to gambling. In casinos, there are always loan sharks who will be ready to provide instant loans, so that the gamblers can continue with their bets. And in most cases, it ends in further losses. The same is now happening in online casinos.
2957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 15, 2020, 04:12:59 PM
I think you are a bit more confident than usual on India's performance in the upcoming series. In my opinion both team are great and both have chances, it all depends on how much pressure the players can take and I am confident most matches in this series will be pretty close.

It would have been close if Virat Kohli was playing all the matches. But without Kohli, Australia is having the advantage. Kohli has been the backbone of the Indian batting lineup in surfaces which favor pace bowling. None of the other Indian batsmen have performed consistently on such surfaces. However, Indian pacers seems to be in very good form right now.
2958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can people rebel against bitcoin? on: November 15, 2020, 01:45:03 PM
India is trying to Re-ban bitcoin in the country just because some people said is a scam currency.
What is your opinion?

I am tired of hearing about this Indian BS again and again. There is a lot of FUD going on claiming that India is about to ban Bitcoin and this has been going on for almost 2-3 years now. The finance minister has clarified multiple times that as of now no such measure is under consideration. But there are certain vested interests who would like to spread FUD on this topic. If there is a definite proof of the government working on such a measure, we can debate about it. But until then such unfounded rumors must be thrown in the dustbin.
2959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Now the 20th Biggest Asset by Market Cap on: November 15, 2020, 01:27:04 PM
I am not in agreement with the current methodology which is used to calculate the market cap. IMO, lost coins should be completely excluded while calculating market capitalization. As per reliable estimates, there are close to 3 million lost coins (i.e those without private keys). Also, market cap should take in to account those coins which are not in free-float. Should we include coins which were mined in 2010, and not moved till now in the market cap calculation?
2960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler living in England makes a $5M bet on Trump on: November 15, 2020, 01:17:12 PM
Yes, because they know Biden had already won despite no announcement yet.

Only Trump do really believe that he won the election, on this remaining days in his presidency, he might just use it in finding all the evidence to prove cheating happened and he deserve to have his 2nd term, but.... close to zero chances IMO.

In order to overturn the outcome, Trump needs to prove that the difference caused by vote rigging was more than the winning margin for Biden. This is almost impossible, because Biden won most of the swing states by large margins. He won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes, Pennsylvania by 63,000, Georgia by 14,000, Nevada by 35,000 and Arizona by 11,000. And since Biden is having 306 electoral votes right now, Trump needs to prove that in several swing states. BTW, I think he (Trump) will concede the elections within the next one or two weeks.
