301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Booming!...What's your TARGET? on: November 08, 2017, 05:28:46 AM
What do you mean what is my target? How much bitcoins will I hold? Or how much dollars will I hold in bitcoin (or in any other fiat currency)?
I never thought of that, and right now I don't really think I want to cash out my coins. BTC is a very valuable asset for me, and I think it has way more value than it's current price ($7.4k), so I don't expect to withdraw them anytime soon, no matter the amount they are worth in fiat. I will spend them from time to time, since I need to make payments, but I will only do it when it's completely necessary.

It's the same for me. I won't be cashing out my coins for the meantime and I also don't have any figure in mind. I just want to hold and acquire as much BTC as I can because I also believe that it would have much more value in the future than it its right now. I also have some payments to make so I would have to cash out some. I'm very grateful that I am able to because I get to have some extra cash. But basically, I intend to hold most of the coins that I have for a long time.

303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What encourages you to invest in any altcoin? on: October 29, 2017, 09:58:16 PM
Normally a good whitepaper will get me interested and make me invest.
Just make sure to check other details as well, having a good white paper is not enough, I have seen white papers longer than a hundred pages and yet very little is explained in those pages, so a long white paper does not necessarily mean a good one, besides scammers are getting better at hiding their intentions and naturally they are putting attention to the white paper as well.

Many scams out there really look legit because the scammers try to make it look good thus many fall victim to the scams however there are those that are actuallly legit and have really good whitepapers so its also good to loook at the whitepaper before investing. By looking into the goals and plans of the project, you may determine whether the coin willl be successful and worth buying or investing on.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All coins are now dying, what do you think? on: October 29, 2017, 09:55:00 PM
It’s normal to experience some price dips, don’t think that altcoins are already dying. Because of these hard forks, its hard to say what the price of bitcoin and the other coins may be because altcoins are also affected by the hard fork and price of bitcoin. It is still good to invest in other coins and it is possible for the price to shoot up after the fork so I don’t believe that altcoins are dying.
305  Economy / Economics / Re: So, you want to be rich? All of you ? on: October 29, 2017, 04:03:38 PM
The thing is to have the right amount of money so i can afford the day by day decent living hand still have some money for future plan, from the children's college and so on. It is not about getting that rich so you don't have to do or work anymore. And if we all gonna be rich than either there will be more more or we will be less.

I would have the same goal. It would be enough for me to just be self sufficient. I don’t need fancy cars or private jets; to have a simple life without having to worry about my finances would suffice. With the society that we have, its structure makes there to be rich and poor so it is unavoidable. There will always be some who are rich and some who are poor. Those who are greedy pursue to become rich and thus honder the growth for those who are poor. Sad but true.
306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confidence Returning to Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2017, 03:59:56 PM
Was there ever a loss of confidence? If you lost it, then you were all alone in that practice. The price does what it does and long term shows the truth, you may have doubted the black and white numbers, but you were over there with a handful of odd little people that also believe in flat earth. Bitcoin worth is determined by the people who hold them firmly and will keep on holding.

I agree that bitcoin worth is determined by the people who hold bitcoins and choose to continue to hold them. It is because of their belief that bitcoin is valuable, then bitcoin continues to have a high price.
I have never lost my confidence for bitcoin because Inhave always trusted and firmly believed that it will continue to prosper. This is why I continue to hodl and prefer not to sell or spend my bitcoin with the hope that it will have a much higher value in the future.
307  Economy / Economics / Re: 1Bitcoin as a gift from someone on: October 28, 2017, 05:00:52 PM
Awesome if someone give me 1BTC now. I will hold it and put on some invest or gambling site Smiley. And of course i feel very happy to use this gift  Grin Grin Grin
I think giving one btc to someone as a gift is a luxury. if it was, maybe it was normal, because the price is not too high. but, right now, 1 btc can even buy a car, even though it's not so fancy. 1 btc has a very expensive price today.

1 btc can buy you a lot of things, in fact i’d be able to enroll in school for one whole year with 1 btc. I would cherish it if it if I were given such a gift and would probably hodl for the future. I’d be so grateful because I have not received such an amount before especially as a gift. Yes, it is in fact a luxury. The best thing to do with btc now is to hodl instead of spending it but admittedly I would use some and save the rest.
308  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you use a Bitcoin debit card? on: October 28, 2017, 04:56:15 PM
Actually, I do not like debit cards, it's a form of self-made debt, but it's still good for us if it can be used with Bitcoin. In part, it will help Bitcoin become more popular and more and more people use it for more conventional payment services.

How is it a form of self-made debt? In fact, I like debit cards as compared to credit cards because the transactions are real time and whenever I make a transaction, the expense is automatically deducted to my account. Unlike with credit cards where you pay at a later period. With debit cards, I won’t be able to purchase without having the sufficient balance in my account.

To answer OP, no I do not because none are available in my country. Perhaps if there was, I would have one because I’d find it convenient.
309  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: October 28, 2017, 04:41:32 PM
The one way i have talked to people about bitcoin is through personal interaction. I try to make them understand the basics; how it works; how they can earn; and how they can actually make transactions with it.

This is also my method of spreading knowledge about bitcoin. I try to introduce it to other people then tell then more about crypto when they get curious. Usually I show them my wallet so that they believe that i actually earn and that bitcoin is real. Also, I sometimes repost in facebook and in twitter which i think is an efficient way of spreading knowledge about bitcoin. Social media has a large reach and people learn about bitcoin or crypto through facebook posts or tweets.
310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers are active these days. on: October 28, 2017, 04:29:17 PM
Perhaps it’s because of their desperation. They have went to extreme extents just so that they could acquire bitcoin because they’re simply that desperate. Instead of using their effort and skill to earn bitcoin, they chose the “easy” but illegal way of acquisiton. It’s sad that there are a lot of victims of scams out there, so we have to be careful and keep our wallets secure. Plenty are greedy and desperate enough to create scams.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: All my tokens in MEW stolen! on: October 28, 2017, 04:40:32 AM
I just logged into MEW and when check my balance everything except 45 tokens everything else has gone! My wallet was hacked, but where have all my tokens gone?
Are you sure that your MEW wallet was hacked? You should check the last few transactions and see where the ethereum has landed. That wil likely be an exchange or mixer service (if the hacker is smart) - in that case contact the exchange but if its a mixer then I dont think they can help you.

Quote
I am devastated. Has anyone else been hacked how is this possible?
The most probable hack of MEW wallets is by phishing. Always check the URL of the site when you are logging into MEW. Often phishing links are set p by Slack, Telegram bots in order to scam people during rush hours of popular token sales. If you unknowingly send the phishing site your private keys then all your coins will be spent by them.

Quote
I am not sure what to do! please advice folks.
Bookmark the actual MEW site, apply Metamask extension if you use Chrome or use a hardware wallet like Ledger Nano.

This is good advice. I think that this is the best response to your questions. I myself bookmarked the actual MEW site in my google chrome browser. I’m not familiar with wallet hacks but it is likely that you somehow lost your private keys. Maybe you can check the transactions as suggested and trace your lost tokens from there. Or try to remember whether you somehow gave away your private keys, perhaps that could help you determine how you lost your tokens. We have to be careful next time, in the future maybe you could store your tokens in different wallets.

312  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I stop Buying BTC? on: October 28, 2017, 03:59:12 AM
Should I stop buying BTC for above market value or should I start paying the listed price? I support Bitcoin and still pay 5k a BTC does anyone see bitcoin going back up?
No you should not. If the basis of your decision of stopping to buy bitcoin was the recent happenings within the bitcoin cryptocurrency that makes it dump on price, well you should think once again. Instead of stopping to buy bitcoin, you must see it as an opportunity to buy more since it is really affordable and can give you a privilege to earn a large profit when the price pumps once again. So you must continue to pursue buying more bitcoins instead of stopping on doing it.

Yes I agree. Despite the recent happenings and price dumps, you should still continue to buy bitcoin. It still has potential to grow in the future. Don’t be discouraged by the price drops. You should actually continue to buy since the price is low, as said you should just grab this opportunity. Don’t go overboard though because some people go through extreme extents just to buy some bitcoin.
313  Economy / Speculation / Re: Report: Bitcoin to $25,000 by 2022 on: October 27, 2017, 01:14:46 PM
Possible but we can never really tell. Even just for this year, I did not expect this kind of rise for 2017. Looking at the price charts still amazes me and just over a few months, the price increase has been outstanding. It’s hard to predict the price and we can only speculate but hopefully what OP has said will come true. If the trend of bitcoin continues to go on like this, then it is likely for that to happen and for the price to be that high come 2022
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best cryptocurrency to invest in right now? on: October 27, 2017, 11:12:11 AM
I would suggest you take the time to do plenty of research and look for Crypto companies that have real solutions to solve current problems.  Many Alt coins have no product, just a promise of a product, and many of these companies will not survive the long term. Think back to the dot com boom when many new internet companies were hyped up have market capital of millions but never earned a cent and folded.

Personally, I still favor bitcoin among all. I still think that it has the msot potential and that it will still continue to grow so far. It’s performace has been impressive over the years and many expect it to continue in the future.

But I agree that doing some research would really help you in determing what coins are best to invest in because by looking into its different aspects like the goal of the project would tell whether the coin would be a success. Most successful coins have very productive project designs.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Opportunity on: October 27, 2017, 11:05:42 AM
You kept on having doubts and all that has ever brought you are regrets. I get that you were skeptical of butcoin just as anyone was but you had more than two chances to buy yet you missed them again. I think after all the years, you should have learned from your missed chances and stop doubting. Surely, you have seen the progress and growth of bitcoin over the years, why is that you are still doubting? Buy already while you still can otherwise you might have some regrets again in the future.
316  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people keep saying BTC is dead?! on: October 27, 2017, 07:45:18 AM
They just want to create fear in the mind of bitcoin holder. So that, they will panic and sell their bitcoin. So they keep on saying bitcoin is dead.
Yeah it is true that want to make the bitcoin price of the bitcoin will get the more price and the income of the bitcoin will be more than this, the bitcoin price is increasing more and more. It is being more and more famous but still some of the people are spreading the bad news about the bitcoin to make the uneasy and the fearful currency for the people who are using the bitcoin for the people.

Don't no about the bitcoin how to use and how to handle it. Bitcoin the improve the country people and give the more knowledge information. People will improve country also improve the economy. So it will good to use the country people and it will know the all country information and economy status. So bitcoin is help to growth the future life. Most of people don't know the bitcoin process.
Indeed bitcoin has the potential of improving the economic situation of the country. There are so many countries who have done this experiment and bitcoin has improved the lifestyle of their people which ultimately stabilizes the economy of the country. It is the need to time to invest into bitcoin for it is the upcoming international currency of the world and the most expensive asset as well.

This is true especially in a country where the economic situation is poor and the jobs are mostly low paying. People are able to earn sideline through doing jobs for bitcoin such as participating in signature campaigns. Those who are unemployed or earn insufficiently are able to have some extra income because of bitcoin and it has improved the lives of many for those from poor economies. Another is, bitcoin would provide them with investment even if they have less in life. It will give them some financial advantage and security.
317  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: October 27, 2017, 07:40:35 AM
I'll pick gold. I like both of them but if we are talking about centuries of keeping, gold will last. Bitcoin can be replaced by another altcoin while gold will still be gold even if I buried it deep down for a millenium.
With a mindset on making money as of now, I will be going for Bitcoin, because I have no interest for a long term stuff or whatever, like storing for centuries. Like seriously, why would I store for centuries, am I doing it for my 5th generation? Lol… I just wanna make money as quick as possible, from any legit good means, not in a bad way. Gold is good in terms of durability, Bitcoin can be destroyed at anytime.

Since I have a similar mindset as of now, I would also choose bitcoin. It has more potential to grow as compared to gold and I intend to invest in bitcoin for long term. Gold is better for security and most people would prefer it in terms of security and safety because many have relied on it for years already and for a long time. It has less risk and they believe that gold would not devalue so quickly or after several years. Perhaps choosing your type of investment would depend on your interest and needs.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do thousands of investors hold bitcoin on troubled days? on: October 27, 2017, 07:33:26 AM
The answer is very easy on that troubled day they buy bitcoin when the price is dumped. At that time their have a chance to buy Bitcoin at a cheaper price. And then hold it until the price goes back up or the problem is resolved. They brave to hold Bitcoin on a troubled day as well because they believe that any problem there must be a solution.

I agree with your answer. When bitcoin experiences troubled days, the price gets lower and it allows the buyers to buy at a lower price. They are confident that the price and value of bitcoin will get higher in the future so investors continue to hold bitcoin despite experiencing frequent decreases in price. They know better than those who panic sell and they have high hopes for the potential of bitcoin. If they choose to sell it prematurely, they will regret it because they could get rich by holding bitcoin for a long time.

Ganun ba talaga?
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICOs = More of the same on: October 27, 2017, 02:00:54 AM
This time there are so many similar projects just want to compete between each other. Thoe are not aiming for the future of project itself, but only interested in flipping the money into the doubled or more.

I guess that a majority of the ICO have patterned it to be like the ones that were already successful in the past. Most of the investors have based the success of the ICO on the type and goal of the project so they would like to have attractive projects. Also, some projects such as the one OP has shared like an ICO to fund a utopian community based on renewable energy out in the middle of siberia may sound impossible and does not attract that much investors if it sounds too weird or risky. This probably the reason why there are common ICOs that are similar; a way of playing safe.
