301  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [Ideas] What's next for BTCC Mint? on: October 03, 2016, 08:01:08 PM
2) What would you like to see from BTCC Mint?  Just name it, and we'll give it some thought!

A list of public addresses for all coins produced so that someone can create a coin analyzer similar to what has been created for Casascius coins here: https://casascius.uberbills.com/

Agreed, that would be a great addition to the BTCC series.

My personal opinion is that all manufactors should have such a list and keep it maintained as long as they are producing coins.
302  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Various Coins for Sale (Microsoul, Cryptolator, Ravenbit, Shibanu) on: October 02, 2016, 07:27:05 PM
I believe that "10k Dogecoins Cryptolator" should be CryptoImperator.

Cheers :-)

I agree too, there are zero content in those threads. And there are certainly no meaningful discussion about bitcoin. I consider the mentioned threads as off-topic, and it would be appreciated if they were moved to that section.

Where are all the "I am a serious bitcoin collector but don't post much on bitcointalk" dudes from last MJ raffle??? Free raffles I guess... Roll Eyes

Touché

I think the trick from the 1000btc giveaway was to start it as a free raffle and then tell people they needed to pay in order to be eligible to win.  Don't do that MJ.  Wink

I'll be adding a couple more tickets this weekend - I'm eying up those Cryptolators.

Look at that cryptolator drawing!

If you won this drawing you would have to explain to my puppy pug why he can't have nice things like this. Sooo you better don't win. Angry

If I win the drawing, then will I trade it to you for the pug  Grin

Fortunately I already have one of these drawings from Cryptolator due to my dealings with Jonathan so I was specifically looking at the MS-70 coin.   If I end up winning the drawing I'll keep you two in mind.  Cool

I have mine framed but I may follow MJ's lead and add the signed business card into the frame.

EDIT: I believe my actual drawing was signed but I don't see the signature on MJ's copy.  I will have to re-check mine when I get home.

I have been tolled that the drawing is not signed, but there is no doubt about its authenticity.

317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 31, 2016, 11:12:24 AM
Storing XMR safely is NOT easy for 99% of computer users - and even a few hundred is now money you can lose sleep over.

Download https://github.com/jwinterm/LightWallet2/releases
Extract https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/releases in same folder

Launch Lightwallet, and done, easy...

Storing it is incredibly easy.

Accessing it is not as easy, but still easy if you spend 5 minutes to learn the CLI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIRMM3F1jsE

I'm in my 50's with limited computer skills. I use the command line client. If one can read and follow instructions then is is as easy as driving a car. Still a lot of people driving cars without reading their manual and can't figure out how to do certain things. Not the car's fault just like it is not XMR's fault.

I would prefer a gui as well. Nevertheless, the 4 basic things you need to learn is not too difficult:
1. Sync Wallet
2. Check ballance
3. Transfer funds
4. Receive funds

Its explained not too tech savvy here:
https://monerobase.com/Simplewallet

1. The wallet sync goes more or less automatic, just open (double click) bitmonerod.exe (this application handle the blockchain)
2. Then open simplewallet, if opening for the first time, then follow the instructions to create a new wallet. Once you are done, you can check your balance by typing "balance".
3. Transfer is a bit more difficult if not used to using command lines. However there is a nice template in the link above.
Code:
transfer 3 493JYDeY6taJV2bXYsa4vh2kkub7URErJ4B3cN7NKeNG5JFlNr3iTo4jJbS35AxcTgErouA8x8gLo9C2AiBu27i4KFMXXcp 5.32 93af87e91c0f2a14ay0a7198f45a458673d724b9c110d355c9effe81a64de4f7
if you are using windows standard commandline, then can you copy (ctrl-c) a address from a browser and paste it into the command line by right clicking on the mouse.
4. That is the most easy part, the sender only need to know your monero address, you don't need to worry about payment id. Payment ID is only to differentiate difference transfers that goes to the same address.

In any case, try playing around with a few XMR just to learn the basics.
318  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Pre-Introducing a new type of physical bitcoin, the Keyois Capsule on: August 29, 2016, 09:52:05 AM
--snip
You have to supply me with you bitcoin address and BIP38 encrypted key, you also have to promise you understand what you are doing and that you made a good pass phrase.
These are not for beginners, if you don't understand how and why to make a strong BIP38 encrypted pass phrase then these are not for you.
--snip

You got something right going on here Smiley

This project would have been DOA if you have made the private keys your self.
Utilizing BIP38 makes it perfectly safe for the buyer.
Unfortunately that that would also kill the 2nd market, but that is ok, since people need safe long time storage for their keys, so perhaps these don't need a 2nd market.

I think this product have a lot of development potential, basically for each new version; make it even more nuke-proff.
I have always said that a block of tungsten is the best cold-storage you will ever get, but it is very inconvenient this product could
hit the niche between a regular storage and a tungsten block.

Like already stated, not sure if its a collectible, but I have no problem with the thread being in this section, since the target group would properly,
be more or less the same that is interested in physical coins.

You can make your product extra attractive with some demos on how much punishment the device can take.

Edit:
For those who think TL;DR, this is what is being discussed:

319  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [PRE-ANN]Crypto Imperator Pure Gold Bitcoin Coin on: August 29, 2016, 09:33:34 AM
I would actually be less interested if the number was increased. The number 21 isn't anything special either, it's rather trivial. Luckily, this isn't going to happen. I think sticking to the original plan is much better.

I expect this auction to be quite fun to watch Smiley  Grin
It's probably going to be one of the best auctions in quite some time!

CI always makes some epic auctions  Grin
I have stayed up many nights to participate in the action.

Regarding the auction, would you prefer one coin at at time or to auction all 10 at once?
I'd prefer one auction for all 10... I liked this format on your previous auction

I like the 1 x 10 coin auction format... I think you are the only one pulling off this format successful in newer time.
From a business point of view is it hard to say if 10 x 1 coin or 1 x 10 coin is better, since auctions is a lot about spontaneity and emotions.
The multiple coin auctions creates a special atmosphere.

 (2 x 5 coin would also OK).

I was wondering, how come do you value the 5 BTC S2 significantly higher than the S1?
The S2 is also my favorite of the two, since I like the holo more, but they have close to same population.
