301  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is it dropping again? on: April 02, 2014, 04:24:31 PM
I dont think the price could fall any more, the bad news is already here since few weeks ago...

Could easily fall to $400. The only way to trade BTC in China now is by cash deposit, which is very tricky for the majority of Chinese traders. IMO, most players will quit.
302  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bobby Lee Confirms Bitcoin China Ban, It's finally Happened on: April 02, 2014, 04:19:31 PM
Analogous to a ban, correct?

No. The exchange is not "banned". It's still allowed to run and I'm sure they may try some loop-holes to get around this. For example, the chinese government have said nothing about depositing to the exchange via cash so that may be an option for them.

Admittedly my personal opinion is that this is a first step by the Chinese government towards dealing with the problems Bitcoin causes for their oppressive of currency controls, how exactly they are going to do that we don't know, but as of right now the Chinese government have shown no intention at all to "ban" or "shutdown" the Bitcoin exchanges.

I wasn't talking about 'banning' the exchanges. The consequences are however similar to those of a ban. You can't trade BTC anymore without circumventing the bank transfer/3rd party deposit problem, which is honestly very concerning.

I would expect a significant drop in the amount of Chinese traders. Deposit by cash.. What a joke.
303  Economy / Speculation / Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bobby Lee Confirms Bitcoin China Ban, It's finally Happened on: April 02, 2014, 04:04:08 PM
So there are rumours on the Internet, but these rumours were delivered to them by their third party providers and banks? Riiight

The rumors are that the Chinese government are going to shutdown the exchange. According to Lee this isn't whats happening, its that they are preventing people from depositing fiat to the exchange from a chinese bank account. The exchange is still allowed to run. Withdrawals to chinese bank accounts are still allowed and deposits and withdrawals in BTC are still allowed. You can still buy and sell Bitcoin, but you cant deposit money from your chinese bank account.

Analogous to a ban, correct?

How else can you deposit money  to the exchange?
304  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is it dropping again? on: April 02, 2014, 03:20:34 PM

305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Realsolid..mcxNOW scam at it again. on: April 02, 2014, 03:54:24 AM
Just be honest mate you wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't because RS removed a wall on your precious coin, again leading to you calling him a terrorist. (Also I forget were you demodded or did you just have a hissyfit and never return?)

Good questions,
I was mod and i backed solid up and said i always would unless he gave me reason not to.He gave me that reason when he played with MinCoin market like a child thus impacting every person who invested in that coin right after a re-launch we all made to wash it clean of his and others bs. He first denied it was his but i caught him out then he admitted it was and said he could do what he wanted with his bag and i agree he can..fact is anyone can and thats not really why i left that site and stopped supporting him.

What he did was a blatant kick in the nuts to his users and his mod team because most of us are MinCoin supporters.
I could not responsibly support him with all of his antics building up to that day and there is evidence to prove that not once twice or thrice he played a heavy hand like that depressing a market like so, i got sick of his empty release dates and an amount of others things leaving his mods and followers sitting there like AH's while he plays games because he is bored..I was a man and resigned from mod and left the site and didn't say boo until the backstabbing started..and this post is a reaction and just some hope that the man/child starts to be held accountable.

In a nutshell it would not be wise of me to be affiliated with such a rouge site or exchange owner while forging the alliances for MinCoins future that i am in a legitimate world with a legitimate use!
He can do what he wants on that site but he will be held accountable!

The way I see it: You weren't scammed by the exchange.

I understand that the owner isn't 100% transparent regarding his decisions (ETA of updates), but that's up to him.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: Great news everyone! Bitcoin NOT banned in China! on: April 02, 2014, 03:35:33 AM
One of the people familiar with the latest directive said that the central bank does not intend to ban bitcoin trading in China

Post source or more info please.

Yes, Mintpal market is open for FAC now.
Come on! Trade on it now.
Let's when we will have the first trade on it.
if the blocks didn't take forever... deposits would already be in there.
It's a bit annoying!   If we don't have enough hash power, will we suffer the slow transactions forever?

Not a hash power problem. Block target time is 10 minutes, set by dev. I don't get it  either ;P
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 31, 2014, 08:58:48 PM

Would you like to have your coin listed on www.crycurex.com ?

One of the lowest trade fees - 0.09 % per trade

https://crycurex.com/info/add-currency/

No thanks. Too many exchanges is bad for FAC. And you won't get any volume

313  Economy / Speculation / Re: point of maximum pain on: March 31, 2014, 03:02:31 PM
What is point of max pain? Could it be described as... the floor?

I think... more like... the sewer.

Yeahh.. so the point where everyone panic sells and there is no buy support. Analogous to a flash crash?

I'm not knowledgeable about the economical terminology of the phenomenon, but that def. will happen. At some point, there is a psychological breakdown and you simply 'need' to sell.. This is about to happen in the next few days.

That said, I'm not a veteran investor, but I know that if the CHINA ban is not refuted, then CHINA will do everything in its power to transfer to fiat, even if that means double digits.

Only five to ten days left..
314  Economy / Speculation / Re: point of maximum pain on: March 31, 2014, 02:55:44 PM
I'm not convinced we are there yet.  Myself and lots of other people have been around here for years and have been through this numerous times.  I think this is my 6th, but I've lost track.  I've developed a sense for the point of maximum pain and have profited pretty handsomely by being able to recognize it.  Granted, the market could be mature enough that these sorts of things are becoming somewhat less painful, but it doesn't quite feel like we're there yet.  In any event, I'm watching and waiting, because I'm going to try to be there (again) when many of you are feeling that pain.  Sorry, and thanks.

What is point of max pain? Could it be described as... the floor?

I have a few of those rejects

Why nBits below minimum work?
Quick google search: This sometimes happens when you try to change the minimum network difficulty but forget to update the nBits value. Here's a fix:

Quote
If you increase the minimum network difficulty, you have to calculate the right nBits for genesis block.

Try this:
Code:

printf("min nBit:  %08x\n", bnProofOfWorkLimit.GetCompact());

after this:
Code:

        printf("%s\n", hash.ToString().c_str());
        printf("%s\n", hashGenesisBlock.ToString().c_str());
        printf("%s\n", block.hashMerkleRoot.ToString().c_str());

this will print a hex value, set this to block.nBits.

and gen a new GenesisBlock hash.

Also, this can happen (?) if you didn't delete peer.dat and older clients try to feed you with the old blockchain

Now, I'm not a dev. I have no clue about what I'm writing about. You guys are much smarter than I am, and probably can make some sense out of it
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 31, 2014, 01:31:54 AM

hum, don't understand, can't load anymore !

I deleted my local copy and cloned from git again (not just pull), built again and still
Code:
faircoind: main.cpp:2558: bool LoadBlockIndex(bool): Assertion `block.GetHash() == hashGenesisBlock' failed.

Here's something that could possibly help you.

Quote from: Question
After compiling on Linux,

I've got

./cryptobuckd
~/CryptoBuck/src$ CryptoBuck server starting
cryptobuckd: main.cpp:2562: bool LoadBlockIndex(bool): Assertion `block.GetHash() == hashGenesisBlock' failed.

It doesn't work

Quote from: Answer
Compile version 1.0.0. first this will create your genesis block.  Run 1.0.0 for 10-15 seconds.  Then run 1.0.2 it will continue to load the chain as it should.

So... maybe compile the very first version of Faircoin first, then compile the latest version?
319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 30, 2014, 11:59:57 PM
Last received block was generated 8 hours ago.

The new wallet doesn't sync

Dev doesn't seem to care.

BTW I don't think it's an attack. Just wait for his word
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Faircoin - The First Fairly Distributed coin. MANDATORY UPDATE! on: March 30, 2014, 08:49:33 PM
blockchain isn't moving ? Wallet doesn't seem to sync well

I have the same problem, my wallet say that is out of sync and i have 37 active connection but will not sync

Same.

I hope the fair-cointeam will fix the problem until we reach mintpal

It looks like a normal problem.
Another attack?
Be careful!

Probably another attack. But all PoW coins have the same vulnerability
