in that scenario, if the energy was still limited, then bitcoin mining would not be far more fierce because the problem about the limited energy source. however, if we had it unlimited, then the blockchain would get more competitors in it depending the source supply for creating ASICs. if the mining would no longer cost anything, as well, would discourage people to create power efficient processors, which would not be good.

At the year end yes I do see 2000$ becoming a reality and why not, everything looks favorable for Bitcoins. More and more people are coming in, the world economy is shaky and all that is rising strong is Bitcoins. Even if the so called war doesn't happen, countries are accepting Bitcoins by passing laws and this is a suit I feel shall continue and we shall see more and more Bitcoins laws. Then with brexit looming who knows that may also push up btc prices. Over all I am pretty positive that every thing will be good for btc and 2000$+ hopefully.
bitcoin laws are ruining the bitcoin protocol Atm, though. if the bitcoin could be regulated, it wouldn't be called bitcoin. although the regulation improves the reliability of bitcoin, never expect it is by 100%. the price of bitcoin is still uneasy to go to $2000 right now, unless more country promotes the advantage of bitcoin. |

if $2000 this month, i guess it is pretty hard to do so, although the raise has been keep going loud, the hype train is not yet departed (from $1300). AFAIK the price of bitcoin will not seek $2000 very soon, but not really late.

Africa is as hot as desert AFAIK, so if you have a certain amount of solar panel and sufficient maintenance ability, you can mine bitcoin there for almost free, excluding the costs of buying the mining equipment. FYI there are frequent thunderstorms, gotta harvest them then you will benefit the poverty in the Africa; no mining company in Africa AFAIK so please be aware of it.

And how many of you use both services just to spread your funds across?
Personally I use both. Because Poloniex has good rates, lower spreads, hiher volume and better customer support. But bittrex has a good selection of coins, that poloniex doesn't have. For example, Bittrex still lists Voxels whilst poloniex has delisted Voxels and many more altcoins just a week ago, which is sad to see. the bittrex has more coins to trade, thus the transaction history will be larger, so that they need certainly more funds from the fee to sustain their datacenter. poloniex knows some of the altcoins are unsustainable so they decided to delist, their transaction volume is far larger than bittrex so far, like litecoin. |

What are your electricity costs?
+1 most of the cases, even if you have a power efficient working ASICs, if you get a high fee on the electricity, you are still having losses because of the electricity.
if you have enough miners and feels great luck, the solo mining is recommended because i believe its XV is good for you to mine the bitcoin yourself, or if your pool has a higher frequency to get the block reward, it is as well a good choice. |
