301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Fast confirm? on: January 31, 2014, 01:44:31 PM
You need to pay 0.1 mBTC per 1000 Byte of your transaction.

1 input is about 180 byte.

So if you have 1000 Inputs you'll need to pay at least 18 mBTC or 0.018 BTC to send it.

There is no going around that.
302  Other / Meta / Re: It's Time For Theymos To Kill The Alt Section on: January 31, 2014, 12:31:50 PM
I want to be able to ignore the alt coin forum.

You are. Go to Profile and click "Ignore Board Preferences". Mark all Boards you don't want to see. I did this a long time ago, it's as if the altcoin board wouldn't exist.

But still it let's this forum look really spammy and scammy for visitors. (And People like you who don't know this)

Between shady hardware companies, fly by night bitcoin services, and the alt forum this site looks like a scammer haven to the general public.

Don't forget the Gambling, "Cloud Mining", etc. Advertising in 50% of the sigs.

Like I already posted in this thread:

Well, something needs to be done for sure.

Not only the alcoin section but other thing as well. If I would come here as a totally new user that had no Idea about Bitcoin.

The first thing I would see are endless coins trying to convince me to invest in them. As soon as I enter a Thread, I see countless People advertising in bright red colours some gambling sites, dodgy investments or again useless coins in their sig.

This whole place looks like a site for HYIPs and not for a developing currency that wants to be taken seriously.

If I had no Idea about Bitcoin and the first thing I would find where this forum, I would very quickly come to the conclusion that Bitcoin is some kind of ponzi sheme and would immediately leave and never come back.

Immerhin gibts 96 Nodes in Stuttgart. Mal Spam für unser Treffen senden.

Edit: Aber geht ja so:

1. Grönland in der Liste wählen.

Nodes finden.

Details der Grönland Node:

IP address   194.177.229.155
Hostname   host-229-155.greennet.gl
Date added   2014-01-15 04:02:39
Last seen   2014-01-31 03:45:31

? ? ?
Profit

306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Bitcoin rival? PAGA! on: January 31, 2014, 10:25:41 AM
Many of the 3rd world countys have highly unstable currencys.

If Bitcoins are successful services like this could provide people in 3rd world countries an easy way to safely store their (little) wealth away from hyperinflation.

See for example Bitcoin integration in M-Pesa: http://www.mobilepaymentstoday.com/article/216119/M-PESA-meets-Bitcoin-with-new-service-in-Kenya

308  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin users could face jail time? on: January 31, 2014, 09:48:47 AM
The government doesn't WANT people in jails. They want as little people in jails as possible.

 Huh

That depends on which government.

Fuck

Quote
While the United States represents about 5 percent of the world's population, it houses around 25 percent of the world's prisoners.

How can one think there isn't something awfully wrong with this counties legal system.

Even the most oppressive regime in the entire world has a lesser prisoner ratio!

311  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: January 30, 2014, 06:18:28 PM

312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mentioned on a TV show on: January 30, 2014, 05:22:57 PM
well, now it's time for bitcoin to get into TVs elsewhere in the world... like in Europe...  Smiley

Don't think we'll be seeing this it seems that europe are the ones that are not very interested in Bitcoin.

Don't know where you live. But here (Germany) it's sometimes in the TV (not shows of course, there are no  German TV-Shows to speak of).

Also, not interested? Germany is the 3rd biggest Bitcoin community, after US and Russia.

See: http://getaddr.bitnodes.io/

Germany has declared Bitcoin private Money, well before any hearings in the US.

Don't know about other European countries, though.

Thanks I am excited about my new position as a Bitcoin Talk Moderator

I don't know why this was buried in all the talk about ckolivas, but congratulations on your new position as a Bitcoin Talk Moderator.

Pretty sure he's not a moderator.

Reported for mod sass.

Reported for abuse of the report Button.  Angry
314  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2014-01-30 Arrest of charlie shrem shows dangerously repressive US police on: January 30, 2014, 02:15:18 PM
Actually for someone (Shrem) the problem it's a little worse than just "timing".
Quote
Unfortunately, the plea bargain system of the United States may cause Shrem to confess to the crime just to not risk 25 years of jail. A system where you get the choice of 15 days in jail and guilty confession, scoring career points for the prosecutor, or risk 25 years but take your chances of an acquittal, is a system that has absolutely nothing to do with justice nor with law enforcement. There is supposed to be a conceptual difference between being charged with a felony and playing “Take the money, or open the box?”.

Is this really how it works in the US?

What a broken system. With this almost everyone would confess. I mean even I would confess if I where charged for laundering US$, if I had to choose between 15 days and maybe 25 Years, even though I never touched a US$ in my whole live and could basically proof my innocence.
315  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: January 30, 2014, 02:04:42 PM

316  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application on: January 30, 2014, 01:37:06 PM
A mod should IMO also have some kind of good example function.

This Forum (and therefore Bitcoin) looks totally scammy to new people (that don't know yet what Bitcoin exactly is) if half of it's Users advertise for Gamblin and dodgy investments with signal color sigs.

That you take part in this disqualifies you IMO
317  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator application on: January 30, 2014, 01:17:35 PM
Yay, knew I'd break a milestone:

You have reported 1000 posts with 99% accuracy

Shame about accuracy dropping below 100%. I'm quite sure every thread I reported was relevant, so not sure why it wasn't.

Wow impressive.

I kinda hope I break my 100% soon. I would report more often wouldn't there be that score, that basically says:

Quote
Careful. One rushed report and you perfect score is forever ruined.
 Undecided

On the Topic. I think a few more moderators preferably in different time zones wouldn't be so bad for the Forum.

Weren't there more mods a while ago anyway? Or does it just somehow feels this way?

No particular opinion about Bitpop though.

319  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Help me for my first time buying bitcoins on: January 30, 2014, 10:45:02 AM
Like I said. It can take a few days. Your QT has to download & verfy every singel Block.

Another Option would be to export the private Key and import it into a new Wallet.

To do so, simply go to help--> debug -->console.

If you have already encrypted your wallet. Tipe:
Code:
walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600

dumpprivkey [Address you have transferred the coins to]

If not, tipe:

Code:
dumpprivkey [Address you have transferred the coins to]

Now you get the priv. key.

Note it.

Make a new Wallet a blockchain.info. There is an import option somewhere, where you can import the priv. key.

Transfer the coins to your new electrum wallet, or keep using the online Wallet (not recommended).
