I got the 24 words phrase, so that is not a problem. But I mean, these 24 words they can only restore my Ledger device, right? They will restore your Ledger, but they can do much more than that. But would it also restore all 4 wallets that are on the device? Any wallet that is compatible with your particular coin, and a mnemonic phrase will be able to recover the coin in question. For example, Electrum will be able to recover your bitcoin, MEW your Ethereum... So what is the best (and also safest) step-by-step way to deal with it from now? Like HCP, said the best thing is to try update the firmware with Ledger Live, and see where you are then. Most of the time things work out like they should, but every once in a while the update resets the device, and your information is wiped. If that happens, just use the 24-word phrase to restore your wallet. The other important thing is to remember if you setup a passphrase. This is an advance security option, you should remember if you enabled it. If you are using a passphrase you might have set it up a secondary PIN on the Ledger device. You'll need the passphrase in order to restore your coins.

Want to shake hands? (Remember what that was like, back in the old days of all the years B.V. (‘Before the Virus’)?)
One of the many things that's changing about our world. It really is the end of the world as we know it. We'll have to find viral-repellent coatings for all those metal rails and door knobs EVERYWHERE. One bright spot to come out of all this, I'll never have to hug my sister-in-law again, woot woot! But the hand shake is a big one. The fist bump isn't much better, elbow bumps aren't my thing (aren't we supposed to cough in them now?) I kind of like Iranian foot tap, but that requires being closer than 6 feet apart. Will we ever be able to come into contact with other humans again?

I missed the 2018 prank, registered only four days too late for that one. I recall folks were still talking about it, though. Last year's KYC thread and bitcointalk pencils for merit exchange was a real fun one.
I'm over this one, and can't wait for it to end. In all honesty, I was over it last night (when it was still March for me.) The infection is making hard to read posts, and although it was mildly humorous at first it's not stacking up to the previous pranks.
One of the best things about practical jokes is that they distract us from the stresses of life, and add a little spice to the mundane. This joke seems to be provoking the concerns of those of us who have family or friends that have been affected by Covid-19. And even those of us who haven't been directly affected, many have employment and financial concerns as a result. Our lives have been turned upside down, and one of my favorite escapes is now infected.
Can we usher in April 2nd a little early this year?

According to google, the word "Coronavirus" has been written 4720 times as of just a few seconds ago, and "Covid-19" has been written 3400 times. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ibb.co%2FwSHFnvf%2FCapture-4.jpg&t=663&c=sH_rImr1Fs-Jvw) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ibb.co%2FJFJbYW3%2FCapture-5.jpg&t=663&c=pr4WhA194_kk_w)

Again, big thanks to mocacinno... he really does an awful lot for our community!
That is quite generous, thanks mocacinno.
Now, back to my stupid questions: I didn't get a chance to play with lightning transactions yesterday with the newest source, but I'm wondering; would the libsecp255k1-0.dll file being 32bit vs 64 have had anything to do with my inability to send from one of my Electrum wallets to the other? Now that I know I compiled the 64bit version of libsecp255k1-0.dll, I'm assuming that all of my previous compilations were 32bit.

I suspected that jeje10036's problem is with this seed phrase from the start. He either wrote it down wrong, reading it wrong, entering it wrong, or he forgot that he updated his seed at some point, and he's using the wrong one all together. There's also a distinct possibility that he attached a Bip39 passphrase to a secondary pin, which he's forgotten. If his memory is as shot as mine, the fact that he hasn't tried to access his wallet in some time isn't helping him.
@jeje10036, I would suggest you try to recall if you have updated the seed at any point in the past, or if you had created a secondary PIN. If you reuse PINs It might be worth trying others that you have used in the past. If all else fails, continue to compare the seed words you have to similar words on the Bip39 list, maybe you wrote one down wrong, and it'll become obvious to you when you seed the comparisons side by side.
This situation should stress to all of us how important it is to keep accurate records of all your cyrpto information, even the old stuff that you plan to never use again.
Another thing that should be stressed with HD wallets (hardware or otherwise) is to confirm that you have written down the correct seed. Every time I create a new seed, I create a watch-only version of that wallet, then destroy the original. I then restore the wallet from seed and compare it to the watch only wallet. That's the only way I verify seed phrases, no other method instills such confidence. It can be a pain in the ass with a 24-word seed and picking one character at a time on a hardware wallet, but it's money we're talking about and the confidence is worth the effort.

Maybe theymos had an educational message embedded in his practical joke, but it is a practical joke above anything else. I agree it's unfortunate that some find humor in tragedy, and obviously being right in the midst of it this comes off as insensitive.
I get it, though. Some will always turn to humor to cope with fear, uncertainty, concern, cabin-fever...

Is it being spread by quoting people, linking to their posts, linking to their profile? Lol I'm scared, I want to avoid the contagion.
I think the OP of the thread about April Fools that was started on March 1 (I'm not touching it) was case zero. I posted in that thread, but I didn't quote anyone.

Apparently it's a selective virus. Foxpup and khaled0111 are infected, so far everyone else in this thread is safe symptom free.

Already been suggested. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5184367.msg52446692#msg52446692Theymos' recent upgrade to some of the spam-heavy boards to reduce spam bumping seems to be working well, or at least as intended. The strategy of adding a "bump-score" to threads to keep them closer to the top of the board is ingenious, in my opinion.
It got me thinking about another possible application of a "score rating." One for trolls. I was thinking that a button on each user's profile page to tag that user as a troll could start to count towards that user's "Troll Score." A similar approach to users' bumping power can be applied to the each user's troll-tagging power. Again, a decaying effect of tagging someone as a troll could be applied to reduce it's long-term affects on that user's profile.
Then come some restrictions to the trolls: If their troll-score gets too high they are restricted from creating new threads. Higher still, and a possible temp-ban is in order. What do you guys think?
ETA: Much of the humor of Theymos' April Fools jokes requires it to be a bit of a surprise. Threads like this just ruin it for everyone. Lock or better yet, nuke it, please!

Perfect! Thank you so much HCP! ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ibb.co%2FtmFtZWD%2FCapture.jpg&t=663&c=dsPuHXDWM4Jyiw) I should have known something was up with the libsecp255k1-0.dll compilation. Whenever I ran the script on my Ubuntu VM it would finish up with the following error. I kept thinking it was a file permission thing, was trying to work around it. error: could not copy secp256k1 binary to its destination

Status report: I did indeed have a copy of libsecp256k1-0.dll available in my previous builds, and I copied the file to the "~\electrum_master\electrum" directory in my Windows box. Electrum runs in my Ubuntu VM just fine, and the binaries I generated just this morning run fine as well. There doesn't seem to be any issue with the libsecp256k1-0.dll file itself, but I still get this error when trying to run it from source: PS D:\Program_Files\Electrum_Dev\electrum-master_20200330\electrum-master> python run_electrum D:\Program_Files\Python\Python38\lib\site-packages\aiohttp\helpers.py:107: DeprecationWarning: "@coroutine" decorator is deprecated since Python 3.8, use "async def" instead def noop(*args, **kwargs): # type: ignore E | ecc_fast | libsecp256k1 library failed to load. exceptions: [OSError(8, '%1 is not a valid Win32 application', None, 193, None), OSError(8, '%1 is not a valid Win32 application', None, 193, None)] Error: Failed to load libsecp256k1. 3. Multiple "Accounts" within Ledger... 1st account is currently empty, so Ledger Live might not see if coins were sent to "2nd" accounts. Could test using Electrum and specifying 2nd or subsequent accounts in derivation path (ie. m/49'/0'/1') I'm curious about this (and hopeful for the OP that it's that simple,) but if, for example, I had created two Ledger accounts, and then emptied the first, wouldn't Ledger Live still import that account since it has transactions in it? If that is what's going on with the OP's situation, wouldn't he at least see some transactions in that first account, and wouldn't Ledger Live allow him to create (or import) the next account in that case?

Why not just install the copy from HCP to try? I learned to compile my own binaries a little while ago so I could test the pre-beta version, but now I'm having fun working with python and learning more and more as I experiment. I'm finding that to be quite a bit of fun. Weird, huh? Working with command prompt is sort of nostalgic for me, having grown up with DOS and Unix. I posted links to the portable binary file that I built myself here:
I knew someone had discussed it already, I thought it was in this thread but couldn't find it. Thank you for that.
Thanks for the link, but I really just wanted to do it myself as a learning opportunity. It didn't occur to me that since I've already compiled the binaries (several times now,) I should have that file myself, right? I'll have a look when I get home.

I have nothing against learning of any sort, but I wonder why the United Nations' UNICEF department is involved in education. The United Nations is a globalist organisation wrought with communists and socialists within their ranks. I wouldn't want those fuckers any where near my children in an educational capacity.
Going by the OP's description, I'm also wondering why they're being so sexist. What's wrong with teaching boys how to be nurturing fathers or teaching girls how to cut wood and solder circuits?

This is too funny, and a welcome distraction from the ending of the world as we know it. Thank you.
My guess is Trump will say the "ventalator" exactly 8 times in tonight's press conference.
