3161  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 17, 2022, 07:45:21 PM
Choose a normal name  that any modification of one of the characters in it is visible and anyone can distinguish that it is not your account, and from here, you do not need to report to the Telegram administration to ban that account because you changed your account username here..
I honestly think that's just waste of time as even if he goes through hassle of doing that, scammer will just use the name of some other reputable member.

I don't know if there is a form that you can fill out to describe the issue you had with that user. Maybe there is an alternative way through a support page as well.
Regarding forms, you can use this link https://telegram.org/support, but I think that's what @DireWolfM14 already used. Another way to report scammer is via https://t.me/notoscam. Problem with both of these ways is that it usually won't work with just 1 report. I reported dozens of accounts, provided screenshots etc and never managed to get a single account tagged so in the end I just gave up.
3162  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: June 17, 2022, 12:54:41 PM
Celsius model business was solid.
You lend people money in crypto, you make them have 120% collateral, and you charge the ones you lend money to more than you charge people depositing.
The only problem is that with this business model they probably couldn't sustain that APY, so they had to do bunch of risky stuff which in the end backfired. Here is the good twitter thread that explains what they were doing with people's money  https://twitter.com/jonwu_/status/1536476104986267648

I don't have a penny in Celsius but I know guys who had, and I can't blame them, normally you shouldn't have had a problem with it, of course besides the usually hacks and "hacks".
Yeah same here, I don't have anything in Celsius but I do know few IRL people that did/do have, and they are far from stupid or inexperienced. I was also considering putting something there but in the end I decided to pass as I didn't wanna bother with some smaller amounts like 1-2k USD and I didn't trust them enough to put enough money to get a solid yearly return.
3163  Other / Meta / Re: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers constantly. on: June 17, 2022, 09:13:19 AM
I would bet this process is automated... but what do you think guys?
Doesn't really look like a bot behavior to me, more like a low effort merit fishing technique in order to level up accounts and get into better signature campaigns. Another interesting "coincidence" is that three out of four (everyone except @wimex) accounts are in same signature campaign so it might be a good idea to check addresses they used and try to make some connections there.

Another shitty thing they do is that at first you would think that they are formatting the copy/pasted text properly but when you check the article itself it is obvious that whole topic is basically copied word for word, but they shared source link so they covered their asses. If I am you I would report their posts on that basis, just keep in mind that forum staff is reluctant to delete such topics if they have at least couple of replies. At least that was my experience so far in similar cases.

3164  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 17, 2022, 08:05:32 AM
What about the usernames? If the DireWoIfM14 ID on a Telegram account associated with phone number A gets tagged, can the same ID be used again on a Telegram account associated to phone number B, but this time without the scam tag?
I am not 100% sure but my guess is that it would be possible to remove scam tag that way. Thing is, people change their Telegram ID from time to time from various reasons so it makes more sense that scam tag is connected with phone number used to register that account, rather than username itself as some scammer may change his username but that won't remove scam tag and it wouldn't be fair if some new user gets tagged just because he used the same Telegram ID as that scammer. Keep in mind that beside Telegram ID there is also User ID that can't be changed and I guess tag is probably connected with that rather than Telegram ID.

If the scammer has been involved in various scams for years now, it's weird that the same username is still being used.
That's because it is not enough for one person to report a scammer, but many in order for account to get tagged and on top of that people just don't bother reporting. I've been using Telegram frequently for 6 years now and I've seen maybe few dozens of accounts with that tag meaning its extremely rare.
3165  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie status even with more than 30 activity on: June 17, 2022, 06:52:57 AM
That's because on top of 30 activity you have to earn at least 1 merit to reach Jr Member rank which you failed so far. Read more about merit system and ranks in general here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0
3166  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Crypto lender Celsius mulls possible restructuring amid financial woes on: June 17, 2022, 05:44:44 AM
Who in the right mind would think that was legit? Anyone with a half brain should be able to see the ponzi scheme behind it. If you can't and "invested" money in any of these ponzi schemes, then you deserved to lose your money. TerraLuna was the first, and it looks like this will be the second domino.
Things are not that simple as even smart people do stupid things when greed kicks in and that's what happened here. While Luna has ~20% APY, Celsius was more moderate in that regard (I think BTC had 8-9%) so people automatically assumed that its legit.

@logfiles. I predict that Justin Sun will come out of this cryptospace game richer and he will be a more important character than before.
Unless his logarithmic stablecoin USDD ends up the same way UST as for the last four days it has issues staying pegged.

Preparing for a tsunami of lawsuits, perhaps? You can't promise people something, then you do the other thing while blocking their money.
Lawsuits are inevitable at this point. Well known crypto YouTuber/Twitter influencer BiBboy Crypto who allegedly has millions of dollars locked in Celsius already announced that he is preparing the lawsuit and I am sure that many more are planning the same thing. It's just the beginning though as Texas securities regulators have opened investigation and probably other states will do it as well.

The Texas State Securities Board has opened an investigation into troubled crypto lender Celsius, according to reports on Thursday afternoon. Reuters first reported that the regulator has begun investigating Celsius' move to freeze withdrawals and transfers on Monday. Reuters' report states that Texas has labelled its investigation a "priority," and that the regulator is "very concerned" that the freeze may result in "significant financial consequences" for customers.

3168  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 16, 2022, 05:04:04 PM
The scammer that played OP is really smart because it is hard to identify the difference between the 2 telegram ID if you don't point it out.
Nothing smart really about this scam technique as its the most common one used at Telegram.

The best thing you can do now is report him to Telegram as being a spammer. Not sure if anything will happen to the account though.
Telegram accounts can get scam tag but since Telegram accounts are easily disposable I don't think that its even worth it to report that. I know I wouldn't waste a minute of my time on that anyway.
3169  Economy / Economics / Re: Apple wants to replace all passwords with biometrics on: June 16, 2022, 12:02:08 PM
In fact, I don't trust big tech companies as a general principle (though unfortunately I'm in an abusive relationship with them that I can't seem to get out of).
It's almost impossible to completely get away from them at this day and age, unless you have no issues going completely off the grid and living like Ted Kaczynski.

But I swear, if this becomes the industry standard, you'll be seeing me in 2040 using a smartphone from 2022--and hopefully living in my campaign farm castle in utopia somewhere where the weather is nice and the women abound.  Lol.
This will 100% become industry standard, just the matter of time. Thing is, people (and other companies) usually laugh at Apple's "innovations" and then in a year or two they start doing the same thing.

I think that Apple just wanted to ride the trend since verification on some companies are implementing Biometrics.
On the contrary, Apple starts the trends. It sucks, but that's how it works.

3170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bottom is almost in on: June 16, 2022, 06:26:09 AM
Well for me, I think the bottom is the last all time high in 2017 and I don't think that we can go lower than that.
That was the case up until now, but this is the first time since bitcoin inception that we are in global financial crisis and that changes everything. If situation was normal I woulnd't think that we can go below previous all time high but with all these things going on in the world, I am not so sure.

Regarding whether bottom is in, from my previous experience we touched the bottom when majority of people lost all hope, thinking that we won't see another bull market ever again and I think that we are not there yet meaning it can still go down. Either way, I am not interested in guessing the bottom and I am buying ever since Bitcoin went below $30K and will continue to do so. DCA FTW  Grin
3171  Economy / Economics / Re: Apple wants to replace all passwords with biometrics on: June 16, 2022, 06:15:32 AM
Does anyone think this will succeed?
Yeah it probably will as users will always go for more convenient option, not thinking about the consequences.

One suggestion: no need to copy/paste the whole article, few paragraphs that cover what it is about should be enough and then those who want to read the rest can do it at the source.

This should succeed in the future since this is the only solution to secure accounts compared to using a password that is vulnerable to any attacks like phishing, brute-force attacks and etc...
Biometrics verification also has its own set of the problems and its far from being perfect. For me personally password protection is still the way to go, and if set properly (saomething that many fail at but that's not password problem)it is still superior to biometrics in vast majority of cases.

If someone gets a password leaked they will have problems with one account or one of many services, on the other hand, getting one's biometric data leaked means one cant use the same data anymore to access a service (not mentioning that data also has legal implications: passports, ID's, documents, Ect.).
Yep, that's my main problem when it comes to biometrics as once you get your data leaked you are screwed. And we all know how secure our data is...

3172  Economy / Services / Re: Do you need some strong marketing? Look no further! (CMC/CG fast track) on: June 16, 2022, 05:34:42 AM

These guys are scammers from Mumbai do not trust them! They will cheat you after they receive payment.

FLOKI, MRI and Metapets have never worked with them!
Maybe you are right, since you are scammer and scammers tends to recognize each other.

we work before payment dude dont try to hurt my reputation they can direct message to my vouches and also referencess Cheesy liar

I really doubt that any project will admit that they paid trending, especially to some random people that send them TG message, and from what I can see you work before payment only for some clients so what you wrote there is not entirely true.
3173  Economy / Economics / Re: Solar panels set to be mandatory on all new buildings under EU plan on: June 16, 2022, 05:10:34 AM
I was thinking of installing solar panel in my house because electricity is too expensive now and we don't get electricity for 24 hours. I live in country where 7 to 8 months we have sunny season and summers are too hot. But your posts just shocked me that panels are best for warm regions not for hot. Can you explain with some references?
I think its all about the number of sunny days as solar panels works best when exposed to sunlight directly, not through clouds so if you have plenty of those you are good to go.

I think it's fine for southern Europe that gets plenty sunshine all throughout the year, so just Spain, Greece and maybe parts of Italy. But what about the rest? The yield might not be as good in the areas with longer winters.
Dunno, I've seen in Germany (I am mostly visiting southern parts though) big percentage of houses covered with solar panels so I guess that it works good enough in those regions as well and I even heard that state is buying all the excess energy produced so during summer months can even make some extra money.
3174  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: copper member DireWoIfM14 is scammer on: June 15, 2022, 04:07:52 PM
Even though I know that you are just bullshitting (unless you got scammed by impersonator which has happened many times before), care to share some proof? Preferably using the scam report format that you can find pinned at the top of this board.
3175  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: June 15, 2022, 03:22:31 PM
I don't think I've ever thought or said that Tongue
You didn't, but you still claim that it's all US fault and that Russia didn't have any other choice while I just wanted to show that its their standard practice. Eastern Europe and Baltic countries rushed into NATO for a good reason after fall of SSSR, knowing how it is to live under Russian boot, but were naive enough to give their nuclear weapons and now they are paying the price.

1. To accept an ever increasing security threat at their western borders and in black sea while US kept building terrorist bases in Ukraine and manufactured WMDs there including biological ones
Haha good one. Russian claims that Ukraine has US funded WMD labs is as believable as US claims that Saddam Hussein had WMD and that there was no other way other than invading Iraq. And we all know how that ended up.
3176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Will Russia Emerge As The Next Dominant Superpower on: June 15, 2022, 07:41:55 AM
US is already attacking Russia but through a proxy called Ukraine. The reason is also pretty simple, competition. To put simply Russia was growing stronger while US was growing weaker so they needed to create an Afghanistan 2.0 for Russia so that they get caught for a long time like US did for 20 years and spent $7 trillion. Ukraine was a very good Afghanistan 2.0.
Russia stopped being main US competition some time ago. And its not like Russia doesn't have a long history of invading neighbouring countries, from Poland and Finland to Hungary and Czechoslovakia. I like how people somehow think that Russia is not like all those other imperialist countries, while being the biggest country in the world. They obviously got all that area peacefully and not by conquering numerous small nations.

I don't say that United States are completely innocent in all his because they aren't, but in the end Putin was the one who decided to send the tanks to Ukraine because they don't know anything about soft power and instead extending their influence to other countries by culture and economy, all they can do is to send tanks, which is a shame.

To answer OP; no, Russia won't become the next dominant superpower and instead it will probably end like USSR if they continue like this.
3177  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitlucy withdrawal problem, does this acceptable? on: June 15, 2022, 07:01:46 AM
Lightlord received his first red tag less than 24 hours after the thread was created, while he was in a coma and unable to defend himself, and people were busy passing judgment even before he responded to the thread- he fixed his mess, but his tag was never removed.
What you forgot to mention is that lightlord had a long history of lack of communication and delayed payments, its not like it was the first time he delayed payments and instantly got the negative feedback like you presented it here.

People would probably be more vocal if it was the same situation with Royse777 and businesses he promoted had similar issues before. As far as I know that hasn't been the case and that's why majority of members are willing to give him benefit of the doubt and some time to sort it out before tagging. With that being said, situation with Bitlucy doesn't look good at the moment so I am removing my avatar&personal text.

3178  Other / Meta / Re: xzone Merit Source Application on: June 14, 2022, 04:07:39 PM
Second, based on merit statistics and merit circulation in Turkish local board so far according to merit dashboard, Turkey is one of the local board that has good merit statistics among many other local board. This makes me just curious what makes you so excited to be another merit source for your local board where I think the existing merit source are also quite active in distributing merit?
While it's true that Turkish local board is among the most merited ones (usually 2nd or 3rd most merited local board), you also have to take into consideration amount of posts written in Turkish local board which is also very high. When you calculate merit/post ratio, it turns out that Turkish board definitely has room for another merit source (not going  into quality of posts there, speaking purely about the numbers).

Below you can see local boards merit/post ratio chart for April 2022 (May overview should be out in a couple of days) and you can notice that Turkish board has below average numbers when compared with other local boards (both April and last 12 months), and numbers for May will  be even lower so I am not surprised that @xzone applied for a merit source position.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for April 2022

3179  Economy / Economics / Re: Is there a place in the world you could live like a king via sig campaigns? on: June 14, 2022, 03:06:27 PM
They must be beneficial for the businesses that run them, so I'm not sure why the rates have dropped so drastically.  Do people gamble on crypto casinos less?  Are there fewer exchanges coming into existence?  Most of the bitcoin-paying campaigns from back in the 2015-18 era weren't for ICO projects, and it's not like enthusiasm for crypto has died down at all, so I don't really understand it.
I have no idea what was the situation back then, but ever since I joined this forum and got into my first campaign (late 2019) I don't remember situation ever being better than it is now when it comes to signature campaigns. I remember situation being much tougher back in the late 2019 when even quality members that are now in some of the best paid campaigns of the forum had issues getting into any. Some even went to Bitvest that was paying like $10 per week for Hero/Legendary rank while situation now is completely opposite as there are more spots than quality members which enables shitposters to easily get into one.

But I remember the case with Prime Dice. They used to pay as much as BTC2.4 per month. And that was when BTC was trading at around $1,000 per coin in 2014. So they were actually paying four digits. Too bad that the campaign lasted for just a few months and after that they folded up.
No wonder that they stopped after few months as it makes no sense to pay so much for a signature. Iirc CM also payed some crazy high amount during last bull market but then soon adjusted the rates to a more sustainable ones.

3180  Economy / Reputation / Re: (AndySt) The next abuser of stake campaign? on: June 14, 2022, 02:42:21 PM
Yes, you are right, I remembered a similar story.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5395403.0
Ah yes, that's the case I was referring to as I remembered I saw similar case before.

I'm starting to think it's the same alternative account. And the OP found it too.
Hm I am not so sure about it, as chaser15 has a long history of activity in Phillipines local thread, while AndySt never wrote there and the only local board he was active was the Russian. The only similarity that I can see  is that they were both of part of the Stake campaign when caught doing this.
