2261  Economy / Economics / Re: EU solution to energy crisis: print more money and ensure economic crisis! on: January 14, 2023, 07:03:59 AM
That's true, they'll shoot you to death on the streets without any courts or best case scenario you will just disappear in total media blackout and anybody talking about it will be brutally silenced even if you are a pregnant lady "down under" who liked a post on Twitter and they beat the silence into her. Or you'd be beaten and maimed in streets to become a symbol with one eye wearing "yellow" that is illegal to post on social media. Wink
EU has its problems, but I find it kinda ironic to hear all that coming from someone who lives in a theocracy that has one of the highest number of executions in the world (2nd only to China), with much lower freedom of press and where women get beaten to death for not covering their heads properly. It would be like Americans criticizing Europe for having too many mass shootings, or me as Croatian criticizing Finland for having too much of corruption.

Anyway, no point discussing with you due your hatred towards anything "western"  so see you in other topics.
2262  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: January 13, 2023, 09:46:23 PM
So even if funds are recovered, the magnitude of the shenanigans and the quite apparent nature of the ways that various systems were set up to obfuscate - which likely goes towards specific intentionalities to defraud, it seems quite likely each of them are going to see some jail time.. and perhaps it is a matter of how much.
From what I could read in media, at least two out of three of them probably won't go to jail as both Caroline Ellison and Gary Wang won't be prosecuted on any of the criminal charges as long as they cooperate in the investigation so I guess we will have to satisfy with only SBF (hopefully) doing some jail time.

On the other hand, I think that even if they eventually get up, I don't think that many people will trust them again, whether it's trading or saving money on the stock exchange, because regardless of their important reputation, their current reputation has been damaged. That's not to say there isn't a chance, it's just that it's very unlikely.
Kevin O'Leary publicly said that SBF is a brilliant guy and the he would hire him again so don't you worry about them, they will be just fine. After all,  an average crypto investor won't remember any of this in a couple of years and would use another exchange started by SBF.
2263  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: January 13, 2023, 03:03:56 PM
Rest assured, the number of posts has decreased, but the number of shitposts has remained the same, and maybe even increased.
If what you are saying is true, that despite the number of posts going 50% down the amount of shitposts remained the same or even increased, that would mean that forum became much worse place than it was just a  year ago. I honestly haven't noticed such a big change, at least not in the parts of the forum where I am active.

Now the trend has begun to work in the opposite direction, and many moments are forgiven. Even plagiarists are not touched if he has a high rank. Just recently I found a plagiarist who has over 10 plagiarisms, and they are on the forum right now, they have not been removed. The user is aware of them and is not in a hurry to correct them, continues to calmly wear a signature and receives money. And no one touches him, apparently the global moderators have an amnesty period, they forgive everyone who is older than the newbie rank.
I have to agree with this, situation changed dramatically in that regard and while few years ago high ranking accounts were getting permanenly banned for a sentence they plagiarized years ago (which was too harsh imho), now mods became too lenient and letting obvious offender walk around like nothing happened (good example of that is naim027 who is still roaming around).
2264  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: January 13, 2023, 11:33:00 AM
A new forum's anti-record for the last 7 years? It is sad that such a function of the forum as reporting is going through hard times. Apparently all the active reporters fled. Undecided
Since forum activity has been in decline for years (e.g during 12/2021 287k posts were written and just one year later that number dropped to 147k during 12/2022), its only natural that amount of posts deleted goes down as well.

The only way I see this trend changes is if mods/admins become much stricter but whether that's in forum interest is another question. Or if theymos introduces reporting badges or something among those lines, but then I can see people trying to abuse that and even create their own garbage in order to report it.
2265  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust no one in Bitcoin (Coldkey story) on: January 13, 2023, 11:17:48 AM

Still, that's over half a BTC. Plus the premium lost for those beautiful collectibles... Angry Plus the many who may have unpeeled more of their collectibles to check them  Angry
Thnx.

Half a BTC (for now) is far from nothing but when you look at the big picture, its not that much considering everything that he ruined with his act...
2266  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Address poisoning scams on: January 13, 2023, 10:59:02 AM
There's been a lot of talk about it lately and a couple of my friends received those type of transactions as well but I haven't so far, maybe because I very rarely touch altcoins so I am not the good target (I guess they look for very active addresses).

At first this tactic looks incredibly far fetched and not very likely to work as who would copy his own address from transaction history (that never even crossed my mind) but then again when I thought of all the ways people lose money I wouldn't be surprised if some fall for this, no matter how stupid it may seem. In the end, if it doesn't work no one would even try it but as we can see, its been spreading around.
2267  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust no one in Bitcoin (Coldkey story) on: January 13, 2023, 10:47:56 AM
Gotta say that as a big fan of everything card related I really liked the Coldkey and even thought about getting some for myself and as a present for others, but the idea of someone else having an access to bitcoin on it eventually put me off. Anyway, what happened sucks big time and yes, yet another proof that you simply can't trust anyone with your own bitcoin.

Is there any estimate how much yogg stole so far?
2268  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: SCAM upozorenja Zbirni topic on: January 13, 2023, 08:36:56 AM

2269  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another lesson for those that are using custodial exchanges and wallets on: January 13, 2023, 07:11:23 AM
Good news for all those having money on Wyre, as they announced via Twitter they secured investment that enables them to lift the 90% withdrawal cap restriction so if there's anyone still having money there, get it out while you can.

Wyre secured a new source of funding, allowing it to drop its recently introduced 90% customer withdrawal cap, the company said on Twitter today.

“We’re excited to share that today we received financing from a strategic partner that allows us to continue our normal course of operations,” Wyre tweeted, adding that it would “resume accepting deposits and lift the 90% withdrawal limit effective immediately.”
2270  Economy / Economics / Re: EU solution to energy crisis: print more money and ensure economic crisis! on: January 12, 2023, 09:14:01 PM
- Regarding winter: even nature stood up against the country of the terrorist: the strongest cold cyclone covered Russia, while a warm cyclone is moving to Europe. this despite the fact that the winter is already warm, now the temperature in the EU is expected to rise to 10 degrees Celsius
Haha yeah, this winter has been the mildest since I remember and a real punch in the face to all those gloating how we all gonna freeze to death or have to buy wood stoves and burn our own furniture in order to survive lol.

It's true that severity of the winter will affect a lot of things including the economy but the protests are not a new thing in Europe and they are because of the "cost of living crisis" that people are facing in many countries in the continent.
We protest because we have the luxury to protest and not to end up sentenced to death like in some theocracies or sent by Putin to die in Ukraine. And don't you worry about Europe, we will be just fine.  Grin

2271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should your wife or husband know your seed phrase? on: January 12, 2023, 08:56:21 PM
Usually the husband will not share the seed phrase with her wife or girl friend. The main reason is that the seed phrase is an important phrase / code and we never know how the other partner can miss use or disclose it to more people. Sharing the seed  phrase with wife or girlfriend  can result in the loss of money.
While I definitely wouldn't share seed phrase with my girlfriend, my wife is one of the persons I trust; she has the access to it and is a part of my contingency plan in case something happens to me. I mean, why would someone even marry person that you can't trust with money? For me that would be a nightmare and I would rather stay alone in that case than I have to constantly look over my shoulder, waiting for wife to screw me over.

I understand that a lot of people were robbed by their spouses, but in the end its their own fault for a poor choice of wife/husband.
2272  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: January 12, 2023, 01:23:30 PM
For all interested, SBF just published "FTX Pre-Mortem Overview" in which among other things he still claims that if given few more weeks FTX before declaring chapter 11 bankruptcy he could have made the people get their money back, again accuses CZ as one of the main reason for the downfall etc.

2273  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: January 12, 2023, 10:06:49 AM
While it should be obvious to everyone that sanctions are making life of an average Russian much harder and will continue to do so (at this day and age no country can be self reliant and thrive), I don't think that main goal of these sanctions will be achieved, meaning Russian army withdrawing from Ukraine. Russia ain't democracy where people can simply replace Putin on the next elections, and I don't think that military coup is realistic so I expect this to drag on for years to come.

And the first step for a population to not fall into this is by not having a dictator in charge, not being a slave terrified of going against the ones that should fear your vote, and stop blaming everyone else for the things you could have avoided.
Thing is, people have the government they deserve, and since an average Russian likes "firm hand" approach Putin is right up their alley. I read recently that Stalin is also making a big comeback over there and its more popular than ever (well, at least since the fall of USSR).
2274  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on the phone? on: January 12, 2023, 08:31:37 AM
If you can read newspaper on your phone with no problem, you can use the forum on phone with no problem.
They have websites optimized for mobile phones, while forum doesn't so its not the same thing. You can try it for yourself, just enable desktop version in your mobile phone browser and you will see the difference.

To quote several people, I'm sure that the vast majority of users don't know about the 'insert quote' link. It's not a miracle solution, but it avoids some annoying manipulations.
I am using that feature of course and while it makes multiquoting easier, it doesn't really help when you want to address certain parts of post the separately which is a pain in the ass to do on a mobile phone.

Looking at responses, I had no idea that so many people are using phones for browsing the forum. Too bad that we have to wait for Godot Epochtalk to get that.
2275  Economy / Reputation / Re: I've been hacked (Electrum 4.3.2) on: January 12, 2023, 08:06:25 AM
I'm an open book. I have nothing to hide. I understand the risks and possible consequeces of giving up your privacy for the sake of transparency.
You can remain decently transparent even without doxxing yourself, and just because you think that you understand the consequences, doesn't mean that you actually do as you probably also understood the risks of storing funds on hot wallet, and we can see how that ended up.

So it's fine, what are they gonna do? come here and steal the bike?
Stealing the bike should be the least of your worries. You are a bounty manager that is regularly storing your client's money and people may get all kind of ideas in their head (read $5 wrench attack). Anyway, suit yourself.
2276  Economy / Reputation / Re: I've been hacked (Electrum 4.3.2) on: January 12, 2023, 06:54:43 AM
I also just posted the listing of my motorbike on Facebook [ LINK ]
I understand that you wanna prove that you are doing everything you can to repay the money lost, but I don't think that this a smart thing to do, to doxx yourself over this. Imho, you should remove that link asap.
2277  Other / Meta / Re: Request: New Local Board for Pakistan (Urdu) on: January 12, 2023, 06:50:53 AM
Yes it is improved and improving day by day. And still we are waiting for the management's announcement.
It's been a couple of weeks since this topic started, did you really expect to get it done so fast? We waited for months to get a couple of child boards added  so don't expect to get local board request approved in the matter of weeks. Its just the way things work around here.

And again I will say that this is a big ? on the management which is not responding. Or even not telling the criteria for the local board. Shahzadafzal is trying to contact with the management and he didn't get any reply yet. Hope they will reply soon.
Its been already explained to you that you shouldn't expect from forum staff to share you criteria needed, based on previous experience (Nigerians didn't get any feedback on that matter either). Focus on your own local topic and when they think that you are ready, you will get your own local board.
2278  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk on the phone? on: January 11, 2023, 09:23:17 PM
It takes some time to get used to zooming/scrolling but it's doable to use bitcointalk with mobile phone as well. My advice for you is to avoid multiquoting while on the phone and keep it simple. For anything more complicated I strongly suggest you to stick to PC.

In between alterative: a tablet.
I tried using iPad and honestly wasn't much better than mobile phone. Its better for reading though, but not really when you have to answer multiple posts (which is my main problem when using mobile phone).
2279  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When will Sam Bankman-Fried go to jail? on: January 11, 2023, 05:06:20 PM
in short.. to get a sentence of just a couple years. the theft/fraud/ has to be of value of less than $150k
What if he eventually pleads guilty before trial starts, you don't think that he can get better deal than those 17.5 years? I for sure hope that you are right, but I would be very surprised if he gets anything remotely close to that sentence.

in short.. to get a sentence of just a couple years. the theft/fraud/ has to be of value of less than $150k
In my country rich people regularly get lower sentences than they should according to the law on the count of some bullshit reason and I would be surprised if its not like that in the United States too.
2280  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: XQtraders turned out to be scam on: January 11, 2023, 04:55:30 PM
I can purchase usb stick to store my crypto when I accumulate enough profits.
USB stick won't make your crypto any safer than you having software wallet on your computer. What you need is a hardware wallet, and they are not that expensive nowadays. Good alternative for a very long hold is paper wallet, but only if you know what you are doing as its easy to mess it up and make it vulnerable.

I read the reviews of Xqtraders from quora and trustpilot but the reviews might be faked or people who wrote good reviews were not aware that the company is a scam because they are paying at the moment.
Of course reviews are faked. I don't trust any of those platforms since there are services that advertise fake reviews (I even saw them on this forum) on both of those platforms and they are dirt cheap.
