322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 31, 2018, 09:09:06 PM
Liquidity is a bit poor with Cryptopia GBYTE wallet (and market) Still down. I hope they can get this up and running soon so I can withdraw my purchased Byteballs into my own wallet in time for the envisaged March Airdrop. It would be a shame if I would forfeit extra Byteball because of this exchange lockup issue.

I was not aware of the Byteball wallet on Cyptopia being offline. How long has it been offline already? I have bytes parked there from a lot of time but of course I too would withdraw them before March.

Did you really hope to be more lucky than others? LoL  Cheesy Most of us will now raise in rank much slower than before, but this is the price to pay to keep this forum a place where it still makes sense to go. The demographic explosion of accounts and shitposting would have killed this forum in another year or less. The new rules will not stop shitposting, but at least they will not reward it - and this is a sensible progress in the ecology of this forum.

Such a pity that the account of the top developer of BTX has been hacked. Is there no way to get back your account in such cases? Especially if you are the main dev of an important coin like BTX it really sucks if such a recognizable point of reference gets obliterated.
325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Really The Future Of Money? on: January 31, 2018, 07:14:53 PM
Bitcoin has been proclaimed dead 89 times. It has been labeled a Ponzi scheme and a failed experiment. Writers have argued for it to be forgotten and for developers to move on to greener pastures. But moving beyond this rhetoric, it’s not all that difficult to compare the rise of bitcoin to that of another technology: the World Wide Web. http://blockgeeks.com/questions/what-is-your-future-predictions-of-bitcoin/#comment-604

This is indeed a very smart remark. The only difference is that there is still only one World Wide Web while there are already thousands of cryptocurrencies - so perhaps I would use the word cryptocurrencies instead of Bitcoin. Bitcoin may disappear one day, but cryptocurrencies won't.
326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does it make any sense to buy Bitcoin now? on: January 31, 2018, 07:13:04 PM
Let's say that the best moment to buy it is for sure not when it is ATH. So december was not a good moment. Now the best moment is approaching, as Bitcoin in correcting and looking for its bottom.  To try to catch a falling knife has its own risks, of course, you just have to try to catch the bottom.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin replace gold? on: January 31, 2018, 07:10:16 PM
In the mind and in the wallets of someone it surely has already replaced gold. But generally speaking and long term there is no way it will replace gold ever IMO.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin money? on: January 31, 2018, 07:08:56 PM
Legally Bitcoin is not money, at least not in 99% of the world. Practically, if it ever was it has stopped to be when it has become an asset, a store of value.
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: That moment when you buy 1BTC at $2500 on: January 31, 2018, 07:02:18 PM
I would rephrase the OP like that:

"That moment when you buy 1BTC at $2500, and then 7 months later later someone buys it at $20000."

Your formulation had the wrong time-frame and one zero was missing from the final sum Wink
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: January 31, 2018, 06:56:39 PM
OMG this thread is so hilarious  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  As I girl I can say guys, though we are few here, we are still here and also making money on crypto. So please still keep at least a tiny bit of respect  Wink We are also S&S which stands for Smart and Sexy  Kiss
Was also wondering has anyone already created a dating topic in off-topic thread. Might be that crypto S&S girls could just charm you  Wink

A dating topic where crypto enthusiasts could look for their crypto-matches in the off-topic category would be quite funny, if the likely disproportion between males and females were not so big. Smiley
331  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One more leg down - price to 8000 - 9000 area? on: January 31, 2018, 06:51:51 PM
As of now i'm just having fun with the roller coaster ride brought to you by bitcoin. If you are really a long time bitcoin holder, there would be no nervous and panic you will feel if having a dump. Instead if bitcoin goes at 8000-9000, its just another time for holding more bitcoin.

Lucky you who is having fun. I was having fun with this swings too when the value of my assets was laughable, and I would have fun too if its value would be so high that I'd be rich anyway. But these days when I look on my blockfolio I'm rich, and the next day I am not rich at all - when your find yourself in the threshold between relatively rich and relatively poor, it is NOT funny. Smiley
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor | Protocol for Smart-tokens, solving the liquidity problem on: January 31, 2018, 06:44:56 PM
The thing with bancor and why I'm happy to have all my investment in BNT, is that in the long run it will be the most diverse portfolio possible when the long tail is captured. Thousands of tokens all containing a reserve of BNT 😀

This is a very smart way to look at it. I share the same positive view on Bancor, and for the exact same reasons, but you have phrased is in a very cool way, worth remembering.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 31, 2018, 06:42:30 PM
Quite an interesting idea of the project GBYTE itself, but on the principle of how they started and how high the price was before - I do not think that I will be able to return to the previous level

The price in dollar could. But the price in bitcoin is difficult.

The price in dollar had already rises over last year's ATH, before the current correction (which is affecting most coins these days). I am rather sure also the price in BTC will at some point, and in a not too distant future.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Ankorus: A new breakthrough exchange where u can buy financial assets on: January 31, 2018, 06:38:41 PM

Wow very information was heartening to us will get bonus tokens from this project. for who has the wallet coin Temple immediately prepare your wallet to get the address of the token.

What has the Temple coin post about bonus tokens have to do with Ankorus? Is it only a sort of spam? (just to get things straight)
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] DeepONION ⚡ TOR ⚡ DeepVault ⚡ Cryptopia ✈️ Airdrops 29/40 New Thread ✈️ on: January 31, 2018, 06:36:03 PM
Have you guys tried out the new wallet? It is amazing, the GUI, upgraded TOR with OBFS4. It is the best looking wallet I have Smiley

I am planning to update it soon, especially after your remark Smiley And it is good to see the adoption base rising week after week, the rise of the people applying for the airdrop is telling us so.

The ICO has finished already two months ago but it seems the bounties have not been paid yet... am I right?
337  Other / Meta / Re: TEN CLASSIC posts that deserve merit. on: January 30, 2018, 11:01:24 PM
There are some great historically meaningful quotes/links on this thread. Let’s try to stay on topic.

Your list doesn't represent what Theymos is looking for to identify merit source candidates. The discussion is over!

This is a list of classic posts that I feel deserve merit, not a list of posts that theymos is looking for.  Again, let's stay on topic.  Wink

Once we have established that merit sent to these old posts would be totally useless for the finality the merits have been created for, let's agree on the fact that this list has a great historic value and the fact of listing all these posts in one place makes that/this place a sort of museum which has a value by its own. For example I was very happy to find this list in one place - I knew many of those posts, but not all of them, so I have really enjoyed my little visit in this BCT museum, not to speak of course of the nice Clash of Legendaries - the aftershow which has then followed the OP Smiley
338  Other / Meta / Re: Merit working as it was intended or not? on: January 30, 2018, 10:42:23 PM
If you look at the recent stats  in this link -
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=recent

It is clear that the merit system is not working as intended, or if it is, then it is taking Bitcoin Talk into a new direction, and I find it difficult to see any advantage in this.

I have just given a look and the first post which caught my attention because it got 10 merits is this one:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857670.msg29273301#msg29273301

Hm, left me quite speechless. So I've checked further and the next big deal was this 50 merits post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=857670.msg29212439#msg29212439

Ouch! I went on with the next two digit merit - 10 merits for this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2047435.msg29272347#msg29272347

Well, you can judge it yourself. I find it totally average. Let's see the next two digit post is a 10 merits + 10 merits post:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178336.msg29262972#msg29262972

Ahem...

At which point I gave it up.

Conclusion: I am still optimist about the new system, because at some point people will run out of zMerits and people who make a bad use of them will not become merit sources for sure. But will the merit sources be able to keep the merit flowing? Will they be enough? That's the next big question and challenge.

339  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: One more leg down - price to 8000 - 9000 area? on: January 30, 2018, 10:25:55 PM
The 10K support is under stress right now, BTC made a dip below just one hour ago or so. Big war between bulls and bears. I guess this could be one of the important battles to discover which will be our near term destiny.
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: January 30, 2018, 10:23:22 PM
Check out Blythe Masters and Tiffany Hayden.

Just saying that in particular, Hayden is pretty strong in her ripple knowledge and is really active on Twitter. She is obviously an XRP holder and can appear shill-ish at times but she really knows her stuff.

Masters was a former Wall Street big shot who is running an Etherium based blockchain project if memory serves. It’s based out of Brooklyn.

No, he said women in bitcoin.  I’ve met both of them and those two are both men.

I am starting to think if this thread would leak to mainstream press I would well imagine a huge polemics about Bitcoin being a sexist environment discriminating women, is spite of the fact that the absence of any authority in this community makes it completely free for people of whatever sex to be part of the community or not - and nevertheless women are close to absent here. My guess is that the Western society now is not really able to handle the implications of this fact.
