No idea if you guys are following the ETH devs and their ProgPOW implementation but as usual they are taking their time with the matter.
They needed an audit, then we haven't heard about it for the last few months and now they finally raised some funds to fund the audit and it will be performed by a 3rd party.
So probably in a couple weeks we should know, whether its worth adding it to the next fork or not.
Either way, even if they add it, it won't probably happen until the end of 2019 judging by how slow the ETH dev teams works. And even then, there could be issues with the fork and it might get delayed way into 2020.
Audit is suppose to be done some time in July, lol. 2020 sounds about right.

RX sires cards do not look too bad for progpow https://progpow.pro/. Looks like a 580 can get 80% of the performance of a 1070 for less then 1/2 the price. RX 570 = 11.23 1070 = 13.3

I agree that mining ETH with 1660 or 1660ti doesn't make sense right now; better to mine another coin and exchange it to ETH with them. As ETH is scheduled to switch algos soon, I would avoid choosing GPUs based on their ability to mine Ethash. https://www.coindesk.com/funding-approved-for-audit-of-ethereums-progpow-mining-proposalThey want to do an audit of PROG and its suppose to be complete sometime in July. So who knows when they would switch.

I honestly ever wonder if they will go "pos" Its gonna take them at least another 10 years to do it at the rate they work
Lol, been debating buying some cheap 470s. Since I started mining 2 years ago POS was always around the corner. Maybe we should worry about the competence of the eth devs.

Best thing to do is buy the coins. I still mine but I have .042 KWH electricity and most of my equipment is 2 years old and paid off long ago. Payoff time for a rig with all new cards is insane even with cheap electricity. If a person wants to mine they have to have low overhead ie cheap electricity. Because of my cheap electricity over the past 18 months I'v never had a negative month in mining.

Tempting to order a bunch of cheap 470s. 470s look decent watt/hash on progpow, so one could continue mining eth.

Anyone know a reputable place to buy these?
In the US there seems to be a number of Ebay listings for Z11 preorders, though you're going to pay a pretty steep premium through those sellers as they jack up their prices due to import fees and PP/Ebay fees. Ebay provides you with very good buyer protection so there shouldn't be issues with buying on there unless you're buying from someone with 0 feedbacks. You could also make a WTB post for a Z11 in the Computer Hardware section ( click for link) on this forum. Always use escrow while buying and selling here if you choose to go this route. it is best if you live in the united states to establish a gray import through canada. it will be so much cheaper than buying it in ebay. in addition, defective shipments are often sold in ebay. which after a few months of work break down. You can try akminer.com where are they located?

I ordered from eastshore 3rd batch and it just got shipped. I thought I'd be waiting another month.

You should mine the most profitable coin and then buy the coin you want to hold.

I've been running 75 - 100 gpus for 2 years in 100 degree weather some gpus at at 83 degrees and never a problem with the temps. Only thing that breaks are the fans, which are very easy to fix. Gigabyte and Zotac are the brands I've had the most fan failures. I just remove the fans and zip tie a case fan to the gpu, takes about 10 minutes. If I was going to sell them of course I'd put the regular fan back on.
I've bought about half my gpus used, no problems so far.

Just bought a water cooler for my detached garage, without it temp will go to 120. Keep my 75 gpus and 4 ASIC running.

ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ seems to work the best for me.

I have a 1660 and 1660 ti running and they are pretty close on RVN and MTP. But I can't get grin to run well its half of my 1070s or eth to run at all. I running simpleos so I'll have to give windows a shot when I have some time.

I'm in Ohio and just singed a one year deal for 4.2 cents khw.

I have both, but mostly ASICs, it all depends on your power cost and gear cost after all, the fact that you can resell GPUs after you are done with them is not important enough to me, i see no point selling a gpu that i paid 400$ for 50$.
Everytime i buy a mining gear the first thing i think about is roi time, mining is a risky business , you don't want to be waiting for a year or 10 months to get to break even point, you always need to assume that if you don't manage to roi , selling your gear won't make that up when you do it half way ( some rare scenarios may be differrnt) but most of the time if you don't ROI in a few months you are screwed.
Right now what ASIC is a good buy? For example a z11, bitmain is sold out it looks like I can get one for 2k. With my cost of power 4.2 kwh it make $15 a day. But when the difficulty rises profit will drop if difficulty doubles my profit gets cut in half and that makes roi pretty far out.

|
how is it even possible that this is under 2k€ and all other equihash ASIC are way more expansive? Z9 used - around 1k€ ZMaster used = 1200€
Too bad a ZMaster is expensive used, the efficiency is about the same as a Z11.

How much was the z9 from bitmain, I remember ordering one then getting hit with the tariff, lol.
It was $2k batch 1, $850 batch 2. But $650 if you scoop up $250 coupons for $50. For mini... not for Z9. Batch1 Z9 was 3,442.64 shipped for me per unit before import tariffs of 26.5%. -j Hopefully you can mod this one

Any idea how much the Z11 will increase difficulty?
