321  Economy / Securities / Re: Active Mining Speculation Thread on: July 13, 2013, 11:12:07 AM
The big question is not who has market dominance right now, but who will have it in the future. As more and more TH are put to work, the cost of keeping a constant network percentage increases geometrically, not linearly. After a certain threshold, the costs for single miners start to get prohibitive, as only conglomerates who have access to the most cost-effective hardware are able to stay in the race. This means who ever has: (a) the fastest ASICs, (b) the least power-hungry ones and (c) the cheapest ones, has more leverage than anyone else.

Current 110nm ASICs will be the GPUs of the future, no doubts about that. It will happen.

ActiveMining is in a good spot right now, since it's joining the 28nm bandwagon at an early stage, but even if there are delays it's not really that important. It may start the race later, but it has the "fastest" car and the race time is infinite. On an infinite race, whoever has the "fastest" car will pass over anyone else sooner or later, no doubts there (here "fastest" means most performing/cost).

I've said this before but theres no way the wall gets destroyed in any reasonable time frame (Less than 1-2 weeks), and optimistic projections are looking at a rate of 2-3 months. There isn't any reason to actually buy shares at .0025 right now, even if you value activeminer above that (which I do). Buying shares at .0025 means your money is going to be parked doing nothing for a long time, while you could use that time to trade or even have the money sit at just-dice.

Doing nothing? Will you give me your dividends then? Grin

Interesting theory, but Ken has already stated that it was "because of the merger" and not because of the reasons outlined above, leaving me to wonder how a merger magically creates money

The merger has the effect of killing the growth fund "shares" and "rules", so any BTC there can be used. Remember that the growth fund has been receiving around 85% of all dividends since mining started.

Using the movements from https://blockchain.info/address/1DJpsvnM7xTnQbWEhLYyCyfxQyxwupEzCa my estimate is that the growth fund has currently around BTC(262-8-80-22)*.85 = BTC129 less any expenses paid from those.

The 68 Klondike-16 boards should arrive any minute now, so that's more 68*16*282 = ~307GH/s. It will be a very nice boost.

Cross-post:

I think there are about ~5.9M issued, so the total would be more like ~BTC108, with BTC86 from mining and probably with BTC22 coming from the old growth fund (which was previously excessively eating at least 85% of all dividends, 5.9M/40M), since all current expenses are probably paid already. All in all, a big thank you from Ken to everyone who stuck around. Cool

Also, AMC-PT and ActiveMining divs come funneled from issued shares on AMC, so only look there to see the totals.

(AMC paid BTC141.12429300 to 7,711,710 shares, some of which represented pass-trough shares, so some of the BTC went back to the issuer; the real paid total to outstanding shares should be around the ~BTC108 above).

A few consecutive weeks of massive ActiveMining dividends near this week's level may dissolve the wall anyway. I don't agree that ActiveMining needs to take on debt to pay the NRE. When we get the 20,000 Avalon chips online, we should improve our mining share, which should convince some skeptics to join up and take down the wall (if it is still around by the end of August anyway).

I agree. If the current market value right now is already approaching 0.0025, as soon as any more hardware starts arriving it will definitely increase volume a lot.

BTC-TC wall is at 1,922,000 now, so that's 19,664 sold in just a few hours. Smiley

If not before, both walls will be gone quickly after the 20,000 avalon chips arrive. That's a massive TH increase for the current share price.

I am curious where all this money come from, especially since the mining address only showed ~86 BTC. It was a nice surprise to wake up to that much BTC but I'm really hoping it wasn't a typo!
+1  Doesn't make sense.

86 / 0.0000183 ~= 4.7 M

This might well be the total number of issued shares, as in shares actually bought by investors, not as BitFunder understands it.

I think there are about ~5.9M issued, so the total would be more like ~BTC108, with BTC86 from mining and probably with BTC22 coming from the old growth fund (which was previously excessively eating at least 85% of all dividends, 5.9M/40M), since all current expenses are probably paid already. Taking down the wall only helps speculators that want to play with the price as soon as possible.

The wall will be brought down by investors once they realise the potential of this. Volume is more important than price now.

Shenanigans all over again? No thanks! Smiley
331  Economy / Securities / Re: [AMC]-The Official Active Mining Cooperative Discussion on: July 12, 2013, 07:00:51 AM
Remember that ActiveMining receives its dividends through the AMC shares it holds by tendering, so summing both is wrong.

I'm honestly not trying to spread FUD, but what are peoples thoughts on the likely-hood of intervention by U.S. authorities?  I'm hesitant to re-invest as it seems that by incorporating in Belize and keeping a London address that Ken has been making very thin attempts at avoiding unwanted scrutiny.  I just don't think those measures will actually work.

What 'rules' are not being followed to prompt such precautions?

I'd say 99% of the assets out there are even thinner, so there are easier fish to go after. Shares do not represent ownership, but rights to profits, everyone agreed on that before buying. Even btct.co describes itself as a virtual game.

Active Mining Corporation is incorporated in Belize, just like btct.co.

It's simple, I saw another investment opportunity so I pulled some out.  It took me awhile to realize that I'm not a big fan of Ken's professionalism and I've even gained a new fear that he doesn't really "know what he's doing" at times.. it took me awhile to realize this -- unfortunately this came AFTER i invested..

I will hold on to the rest for now... but if Ken says anything stupid, i'll sell more..

Why don't you sell all then? Should be the correct course of action based on your beliefs.

I sold almost 70k yesterday after I freaked out on Ken, so now I have 131,466 shares.
You can see my bitcoin address listed on bitfunder: 17MgYS26MFiPB5gi7z3TqrbHETKXqap4mN
if you give me your address I can send you .000001 btc to you from that address to prove it's me

Smiley

You sold your shares now that AMC is in a liquidation process to be absorbed into ActM, and ActM has a cap of 10M?!?! Lol! Grin
336  Economy / Securities / Re: [AMC]-The Official Active Mining Cooperative Discussion on: July 11, 2013, 06:06:45 PM
Why such huge price difference between bitfunder & btct ?

AMC-PT on btct only started about two weeks ago and had an initial price of .0025, while on bitfunder the initial IPO price was .0005 in may, for the first 5M shares, since there was no hardware online at that time.

There are a lot of ppl on BF wanting to just flip their shares for a quick profit. I have a feeling they'll regret that very quickly! Grin

For me, this part is very clear and makes perfect sense:

Quote
The revenue recognition principle is a cornerstone of accrual accounting together with matching principle. They both determine the accounting period, in which revenues and expenses are recognized. According to the principle, revenues are recognized when they are realised or realisable, and are earned (usually when goods are transferred or services rendered), no matter when cash is received. In cash accounting – in contrast – revenues are recognized when cash is received no matter when goods or services are sold.

Basically, revenue recognition vs. cash accounting.

I expected them to delete my post - I knew it was self-moderated thread.
I just expected they would delete quickly, in a day or two. Actually my post has been there unaffected for about a month, so I consider it a success in warning the others.

Web pages filled with pictures of RM42300-F server from Chenbro Micom Co., Ltd.
It's possible to put two graphics cards into this, that's all.

Really virtual miners.

Someone commented on that before (bolded):

I feel the need to chime in a moment here. I have been to VMC's offices and they are for
real. They have some some cases and power supplies received (ironically exactly the case
shown on their website which others were giving them grief about using "stock" photos
).
They have a product flow layout plan which they shared and they were more than happy
to give us a tour.

I am a totally uninvolved third party (though we may offer some assistance in product flow
through their assembly plant if further requested).

Anyway, whether they can or cannot delivery ASIC chips of their own design is not for me
to say. I do, however, fully believe they intend to deliver and are not running a scam.

Anyone can phone him and check for himself, the numbers are in VMC's thread.
340  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: July 10, 2013, 11:54:04 PM
Pre-orders are a really tricky subject, as there has to be always some funds reserved for returns. Remember that pre-orders will only have a real cost when the respective hardware is manufactured, so the profit margins are not yet set in stone.

Since ActM does have a mining operation there's some leeway, but caution is very mandatory here.
