moving away from OVH is a good thing I suppose... seems they just been failing and failing, I really hate to see my favorite pool under attack Sad  I hope slush can get things sorted out ASAP and hopefully with some better service this time... , the first bitcoin mining pool... very reliable, just not during the recent ddos attacks/failures Sad  Cry   I don't want to move to another pool...
322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: April 17, 2013, 02:26:05 AM
Any reports on bad chip or failure rate? If we order 10 are we likely to receive a bad one? Are they fully tested at the factory for function? I'm not saying this is going to be a big problem but some chips likely will be duds and how will this be handled, or what rates should be calculated into risk projections.

BTW I think I want 20 - will order soon.

the chips being sold are packaged and tested.

Yes, it's down again.

Btw guys at OVH (my datacentre) totally failed, in contrast to their original promises. I had "plan b)", that stratum machine actually has many "hidden" IPs which were supposed to be for use of "trusted miners" in case of DDoS. Unfortunately this plan b) failed, because these idiots at OVH null-routed all these IPs at once *facepalm*.

will they know what to do next time?  can you do a trail run with them? or will they fail again next time? I hope they can improve their service

Zijn Engels sprekers ook welkom?

Mijn Nederlands is nog niet zeer geavanceerd. Ik kan wel het meeste begrijpen.

of course

ik had ergens gelezen dat er een nieuwe nvidia kaart was waar je wel snel litecoin mee kon minen , .. weet alleen niet meer waar , en ook niet welke kaart precies..

take a chill pill

331  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: April 12, 2013, 02:42:32 PM
I have changed the IP of Avalon from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.1.100 (255.255.0.0) to better fit to the router IP
now I cannot access to luci anymore across Webbrowser or ssh (WLAN)
(in router there is luci/Avalon with the IP 192.168.1.x but ping does not work
Code:
PING 192.168.1.x (192.168.1.x) 56(84) bytes of data
is it ok that it seems that IP of Avalon LAN is the same as Avalon WLAN?
I have not located anywhere to change the WLAN IP, only the LAN IP...

Go to the network tab. It's all there. Edit the WLAN interface and give it a different IP otherwise you are going to continue to have IP conflicts.

I guess he can't access the network tab, maybe if you connect it to your laptop with ethernet cable and and assign static ip to your laptop (192.168.0.101)  you might be able to access luci across webbrowser again ?

Also in regards to the avalon unit coming back online from a power outage, sometimes that does not happen. Rarely what could happen is the unit will be left in a zombie like state because the control board did not initialize properly. For me this happened once when there was a brownout.

did you find a solution to fix when it gets in zombie like state? just reboot again?

Any estimate for this week's divs?  Wink

Last week:
Mined profits: ~0.008 BTC/share https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg1732786#msg1732786
Without unusual costs: 0.0055 BTC/share https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=99497.msg1732538#msg1732538
Paid: 0.00255553 BTC/share

This week prediction:
Mined profits: ~0.008 BTC/share (Higher hashrate, but also increased difficulty)
So I expect about the same as last week (Friedcat said that it would be 'a little lower' , but because the bitcoin price exploded less coins have to be sold to pay for this.)

We really need those 50 TH/s! Tongue

you're forgetting they invested in hardware, and this week a little bit for the electricity bill so will be less (but not as much less), expecting a bit more tbh when taking that into account
335  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon users: bitcoind + eloipool configuration on: April 10, 2013, 10:29:03 AM
If you are on testnet and you havent found a block yet with a avalon something is wrong. With a dual GPU normally find one every 5 to 10 minutes

thats about the rate i was finding them in the other thread.

what use is it for me to send those testnet coins to that faucet?

People who wish to test stuff/apps/etc with with testnet coins can use to it get some without mining for them Smiley

And re the poster about not driving testnet difficulty up, right on. Devs might get cranky otherwise lol

there is also testnet in a box, havent tried it out tho

i was wondering about something, when i was mining, i think i found a block, because the number of transactions got +1, and the miner also reported it. Only the transaction never showed in the transaction history, and when i look with ppcoind listtransactions it says it is an orphan.

Now I know what orphans are and it is normal they happen, but i thought the number of transactions on the overview page of the ppcoin-qt should stay the same, maybe some error, where it doesnt check if it is an orphan? Does the number of transaction get corrected to the right number after a while?
337  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6000 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: April 05, 2013, 11:00:43 AM
Slush have you considered implementing LTC mining pool? There are lot's of graphic cards out there soon to be obsolete...

I considered that, but I'm not a fan of alternative currencies (except the namecoin, which is dead), so I have no plans for litecoin support.

When there'll be a currency which will bring some innovations comparing to bitcoin, I'll consider the support. I don't think litecoin fullfil this condition.

what do you think about devcoin? (maybe you can earn some devcoins with the Trezor project Wink )

is there some error with http://www.proofofstake.com/ ?

at the Minted Daily chart, it looks like there are 0 coins minted since March the 20th, that can't be right , no?

2013-04-05: The Bitparking exchange is closing down. I've decided the risk involved in dealing with the current high prices for the alt coins has moved from the 'fun hobby' level the exchange originally started with and requires a more serious approach to operation. I've been in contact with the Vircurex exchange and I encourage all existing customers to move their funds and continue trading their.

The exchange will close trading Friday 5 April 2013 22:00 and new deposit addresses will not be able to be created. Trading operations will also be disabled. Withdrawals will be available for a few days after that at which point the exchange will close and all funds sent to their emergency withdrawal address. Withdrawal fees are removed during this period. Thanks for using the exchange and enjoy a better and more professional experience at Vircurex.
