Thanks for the replies guys!  This is good info to have.  I'm glad to see some of you making decent profits Smiley
3302  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1 BTC Bounty. Where is this in Pittsburgh? on: February 13, 2012, 11:15:50 PM
Haha, all I did to find this was type in "Pittsburgh Cannon" in Google images.  I found it in like 2 minutes.
3303  Economy / Marketplace / Are merchants are earning significant profits? on: February 13, 2012, 06:04:28 AM
Excluding exchanges and pools, what Bitcoin businesses and companies (particularly the retail ones) do you think are making some good money?  By 'good money,' I mean that they are earning enough so each person in the company can live solely off the company's profits without the need for a 2nd job.

Do Bitcoin businesses like this exist yet?

It'll go down as long as bitcoinica has an asterix on the buy. Somebody wants all your leverage.

Quote of the day

Oldminer, two questions for you:

1)  Did you capitalize on this drop?
2)  Are you a liar?

If "2" were true, would you still believe "1"?  Wink

Haha, I think "2" is an important question   Cheesy

1.04BTC
Ohhhh... so this is not the 1oz coin on the website repeatedly linked to? I modify my bid to .104 BTC, then :x

.11 BTC.   It's 1g not 1 oz.
3307  Economy / Auctions / Re: 2012 1OZ SILVER AMERICAN EAGLE w/ air-tite case on: February 12, 2012, 10:16:01 PM

Like Whitney Houston's career?

Too early?

First it was Amy Whohouse, now it's Whitney Whoston.
3311  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rocket is secretly taking off on: February 12, 2012, 10:31:16 AM
I think the Challenger is taking off.  I heard zhoutong is at the helm.
Kinda bad taste. Try to pick a tragedy a little older than that.  Undecided

Like Kennedy's assassination?

On a related note, I was thinking about trying to approach the guys that work at the Mobil on the corner near my house to see if they would be interested in accepting Bitcoins.

It would be pretty sweet to pay for a cab ride back to my house with Bitcoins, because then the cabbie could get gas with them.

Sorry, my bad I forgot to update.  It seemed that it was only disabled for a day or so.
3316  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with this? on: February 10, 2012, 04:31:46 AM
They do. The cpu would be downclocked. I currently only have a 5830 spare but I guess I could get another card if I felt like it. It would cost like $40 dollers for extenders to make those pci slots work.

Really I was offered free use of it so I am considering it

If it was me, I would do it.  If it was me, I would mine Bitcoins and hold them in a secure wallet.  You will learn about mining in case you ever want to have your own rig, and if Bitcoin becomes used regularly by over a billion people someday, then the 'small' amount of Bitcoins you generate now will be worth a small fortune later.
3317  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with this? on: February 10, 2012, 04:17:09 AM
Buddy will let me use his old computer for mining if I want for free.

What do you think? Only 1 pcieX16. There are extenders

When you say "use his old computer...for free,"  that leaves a lot to the imagination.

What are the other components of the computer?  Does it include a graphics card?  If so, which one?  Do you pay for electricity?  If so, how much?  Etc...

The more detail, the more we can advise.

I know about the bitcoin profit calc's out there.
Other components don't matter much I don't think. But it has 2gb or ram, core 2 duo processor, and all hardware. I would use a flashdrive with bamt. The problem most likely is the psu. I didn't ask but it probably sucks. That is a key factor. My electricity rate is 0.0866 which I pay.

The other parts do matter in terms of energy consumption if you're the one paying the electric bill.

What graphics card are you going to be using?
3318  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Most Bitcoins Mined Without Solving a Block? on: February 10, 2012, 04:14:11 AM
No block for my last 80 BTC mined with pools. Don't know if I'm unlucky but it totes sucks...

edit:
lol, viewing this topic got me to actually click on the joint singature link, and register on the pyramid game. Damn you, internets!

3319  Economy / Lending / Re: $1000 loan needed, wire me untraceable cash Western Union (why so many suckers?) on: February 10, 2012, 04:04:53 AM
I have to admit I'm confused at this myself.

Hasn't anyone heard of picking up a phone?  Increased anonymity doesn't mean you have to be stupid.
