3361  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 19, 2014, 04:41:09 PM
I did point this out in the thread before it started, that all should be posted in one place. There is already the ST thread, an unofficial SP20 thread and my SP20 thread. That's fine, its 2 1/2 for one product. But adding another 10.... no other product or company would be allowed to do that. And unfortunately ck has been put in a compromised position by receiving one (outside the competition). If he moves or consolidates them then he will seem ungrateful, if he doesn't he will seem biased.

Lets take for example the Antminer S3. There have likely been 6 figures of S3s sold into the world, yet they only have 2 1/2 threads [S3 tech, mine and for a bit Sushi's]. If Bitmain threw out 10 to the community to make 10 threads, they'd be immediately locked / moved / banned because its spam / pay to spam. Unless of course the SP20 is being used to set an admin precedence.... and which point now every other company is free to spam review threads. 10 'review' threads for each of Bitmain's products, that's no different right?

Ps this thread should head over to meta once its got a bit more of a soak here.
3362  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: December 18, 2014, 05:06:02 PM
I think they're paying him to post on everybody else's threads except bitmains........ Cheesy Cheesy

This is not a thread I monitor, I only hop in and out.

Aren't you supposed to be here to provide support?

Not for all products, no. Its other staff's job to monitor this thread (even if they don't post).

Just the bad one is removed.

All the firmware releases are clearly there if you look at the web page correctly.

Posts 26 hours later, doesn't understand the concept of time and a dynamic universe.

Honestly curious, how much bigger do KNC's and Bitfury's mining operations have to get before they get an FF ?

No one gets an FF any more, only Fs. Just left it in the criteria in case people find fragments on archive sites.
3365  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [17th Dec] on: December 18, 2014, 12:48:09 PM
we took preorders on the 2nd gen

We're in the 2nd gen.
3366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: anyone got a spare 1352.254 BTC on: December 18, 2014, 12:46:25 PM
To me this is a losing deal for the buyer.

Probably right

per Month    430.08787145 BTC    $135370.16

with $80 per unit costs PCM = $40K

You would make (if nothing changes) a little over $80K PCM

Still not to be sneezed at, ROI of around 5 1/2 months. (again if nothing changes)

This is based on a cash purchase.

Remember the gold rush, The only people who made money was the people selling the tools to the workers  Grin

And this is likely a list, asking price. Who knows what someone could close it at.

  • SpondooliesTech Preorders up from 'Yes' to 'Mix' (1 to 8]. *Although SpondooliesTech is currently selling out of hand, they have not yet demonstrated that their business model can support this into the next generation. On the announcement of next gen preorders, this rating will return to 'Yes'. On the announcement of next gen in hand / batch sales, this rating will increase to 'Batch' or 'No'.
...
In general, I believe you're doing a decent job with the guide.
Regarding our score, we're currently selling from stock all our products line. It seems to me a bit unfair and last minute change of your scoring criteria.

As we discussed at length, nothing has changed in the criteria. Preorders are a critical measure and as such have always had a time historical lag as well as additionally considering the business model. It is not justifiable for you (or BFL, or any other company) to sell $30M of hardware [random numbers to illustrate] via preorders and then to sell $3M from overstock and claim that you don't use preorders. The entire business model is based off preorders, and there is a 90% chance that made up scenario's company will return to using preorders as soon as they announce the next generation.

And as such, they can only receive an interim 'does preorder and doesn't preorder - mixed' rating, until they can prove that their business model does NOT rely on customer funds via preorders. That reliance is demonstrated during the announcement of the next generation, which for ST is likely to be 0-6 months as opposed to 7-12. If you sell the next generation via preorders, you're running a preorder model business and so receive a 'Yes'. If you sell the next generation from hand and are committed to a no preorder business model then you receive a 'No'.

tldr nothing has changed, you can't sell a few older units from stock and claim you are an 'in stock company' until you demonstrate that your entire business model isn't designed around preorders.

It's clear as day that hashcoins is a scam.

Apart from they're delivering Apollo and Ares orders absolutely fine, and there are ZERO reports of the Zeus being 'dodgy'. If you're absolutely 100% sure its a scam, then I'll take you up on a 10 to 0 escrowed btc bet. If their Zeus boards are even remotely close to as they claim, I get 10btc. If not, you get an I told you so. ....Which will happen right, because you're 100% sure?

If you're not, then you shouldn't be flaming me for not marking a company a scam which has ZERO reports from CUSTOMERS about Zeus boards being bad.

There are zero reports of bad zues boards being bad because nobody has ever received them. Looking through the entire hashcoins thread I found only one guy who received a zues miner and it was the unimpressive version.

I'm not going to make a bet because I'm only 75% sure they are a scam but 100% sure they have some ethics issues.

MrTeal was willing to give them 100 BTC if they were able to sell him a zues board that performed to spec and they declined. Why do you think?

So there are 0 reports, as you've confirmed, everything else is conjecture and not something you can justify destroying a company's reputation over. And again, they already have a lower score of 55, in the same league with Bitmine, BFL and KNCMiner. I assume even if they had a rating of 20 you'd still be flaming for a lower score in the same regard.
3369  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [17th Dec] on: December 18, 2014, 11:27:14 AM
I've updated dogies guide rating from 5/10 down to 1/10

Why is BA 5/10 ethics even though they are several times more unethical than the current BFL? In fact I'd say they are the least ethical company still selling hardware.

We've been though this so many times... Show me an ethics score modifier that I can actually apply to BA.

Why don't you just randomly add one like you did for BFL?

So you're flaming me because I won't 'make up' an ethics modifier for the last possible 4 points... why exactly? I already applied the -5, that's as high as it goes [now] without a regulatory body's involvement.

Blackarrow is joint 2nd last, ahead only of a totally bankrupt company, I'm not sure what you expect to happen.

Someone should do a proper community based guide with a number of reviewers sampling community opinion. Make his version obsolete.

Interesting you equate my guide to a copy of your guide.

No I didn't, look at the quote.

If all you are is a messenger who repeats what someone else types, then you are a waste of time.
Using the excuse that you know nothing but wish to simply repost a statement saying that they are looking into it just proves you are a waste of time.

Apart from I was the one that passed your message on to them to make them aware, and galvanise the response in the first place. I quoted the message to confirm it was indeed a BITMAIN employee as it was the first post on that account.

I really don't understand the hostility here.
You posted it last, so I replied to your post ... I you don't want replies then don't post.
... but I added my opinion of you simply reposting their post with an attempted positive spin on something bad ... and then hiding behind "Don't shoot the messenger" when my comment was indeed that you are just a messenger (but tried to put a positive spin on it) Tongue

I've had direct email from Bitmain before about my posts here, where they attempted to convince me that all was good.
It isn't all good and in this case the "bad" was their choice as they even stated in their reply.
Then you tried to put a positive spin on that ... i.e. as I first replied: "Sigh, you don't read do you."

If you don't like Antpool, Bitmain or anything else then that's fine - just keep it civil.
3372  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 18, 2014, 02:34:59 AM
Hi - I received my C1 today.  I got it all setup and powered on (the light is red), but I am unable to connect to it via a browser or ssh.  The manual says 192.168.1.99, but I can't get to that address.  My router doesn't even list a machine with that IP address (or anything else that might be the miner).  I have tried:

Wireless laptop to 192.168.1.99
Wired laptop to 192.168.1.99
Wired directly from laptop to miner - wouldn't open the page

I'm at a loss as what to do or how to troubleshoot this.  The manual doesn't say much except, "Step 1. Connect your miner and PC via network cable."  Well, I have tried every combination of what that could mean and none have brought me much luck.

Can anyone help?  Thanks in advance.

anything you want a hand with? ir would it be a little harder to pass on your mind-set on things?

What do you mean?

what i mean is this is your project, you understand how it works, is it possible that someone could give you a hand on it?
and on that note, do you want a hand from me?

I understand now, its okay. If you look at the abuse I get for simply updating the guide [being accused of being biased against / for every company, in both directions, simultaneously], you'll understand why updates don't always take top priority on the to do list.
3378  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [17th Dec] on: December 18, 2014, 12:49:02 AM
I don't like the manner in which they were attacked in that thread, ie "its a scam unless you do x y z and I've given you negative trust". There are Zeus customers out there and they haven't complained, so its more than possible what they've claimed is correct. I know you and CK say it isn't in your views, but then were are the complaining customers? There is a good chance that cgminer / the chips are simply behaving in a way not observed yet.

We all know your ratings are based on your own opinion, thank you for further clarifying such.  Con man and Mr. Teal are both proven experts in their respective fields.  They have both asked legitimate questions and presented convincing arguments.  Mr Teal even offered up a 100 coins (against their 100 obviously) if they could prove their claims.  The burden should be on Hashcoins to prove that Con man and Mr Teal are mistaken, not the other way around.

Me commenting on how they were treated in a different thread has nothing to do with this thread, don't try and put words in my mouth. They have asked questions, HashCoins has replied and it will either turn out that they were falsifying x y z or they weren't. It shouldn't be up to us to persecute them as if they're guilty of some huge scam when all there is is conjecture. Neither of those two people have seen a Zeus board and so can not - to appropriate standards - provide its non existence.

As I said before, if there was a Zeus customer who turned up and said ".....fml I've been scammed" it would be a different story. But there hasn't been one, and they've been selling the Zeus for a while.

What concerns me more is that those miners behind him are actually set up for mining; as in not manufacture, but farming...

Does that mean Bitmain is actually doing "burn-in-testing" on the live net too (before selling it to "us")?!?

Its a US farm so its probably on behalf of a customer.
How do you know this, I don't think png files store exif GPS data?

It is written inside the sell offer.

spiccioli
DOH! So the deal is actually to buy a used mining farm.

Looks like it /speculation.
3380  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: December 18, 2014, 12:27:30 AM
Will the BE300 boards fit into the Prisma fan/heatsink body?

Yes!  That would be great since there are probably tons of prisma heatsinks and fans laying around with the buy-back.  Since you would only need to ship the new boards, you can save money with shipping.

From earlier statements it appears that the power density of BE300 miners will be lower, and so won't need nearly the same levels of cooling. Sure if a few of the screw holes match up you could put them onto Prisma heatsinks but at this point it may just be overkill.

What do you think about the smaller packaged die size and less over all components on the boards due to PMS chip,  combined with the lower heat density..  potential for x48 to turn into x96 maybe?

7.2gh x 96 = 2.8TH icy cold Prisma's at ~850w?

I think with the current problems with getting things stable, that the most sensible solution would be a smaller board. If it dies but you've got 15 others in a miner, the consumer is going to mind a hell of a lot less than if you had 4 and 1 was bad. Think Avalon1, mini modules within modules.
