341  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Four Arrested in Ukraine for Running Six Fake Cryptocurrency Exchanges on: June 24, 2018, 04:33:09 PM
Good job on Ukrainians who reported these fake exchanges. This is why it's always important for people to actually report all the scams they've fallen for. People say the enforcement doesn't care, but with crypto and Bitcoin on every country's agenda, you at least should never let these thieves get away with what they're doing.

Got to wonder, though, if this "effective policing" is just part of the government's intense anti-crypto campaign in Ukraine. Watched a couple of the govt-sponsored anti-Bitcoin videos and they're kind of lame.

It would be great if there were more of this “effective policing” and more than just a way to get rid of crypto. It would protect the citizens from the scams and should encourage the crypto-enthusiasts and investors. The police should do what they can to protect the citizens from scams such as those, instead of just helping the gov’t in promoting “anti-crypto”. Enforcement is going to help give the community a sense of security.
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: I sold off all my Bitcoin today, and you should, too. on: June 24, 2018, 02:49:27 PM
Pretentious hodler spreading FUD.  He can't even determine if what he's doing is right or wrong. What are you saying if things have settled? When all the bad news have been solved? Like that's gonna affect the market at the very least. Assuming that whatever you say is settled, it's not like you will know and buy immediately, you will probably wait for a more lower price and buy. Buy a real bitcoin first so that you can really state facts in here.

By “settled”, I think he means when the price hits the bottom which is pretty hard to determine. No one can actually say when the price hits bottom, then goes up again. With this kind of bear trend, it’s even possible for the price to go lower so we can’t even say for sure that now is a better time to sell and buy then tomorrow. I agree that OP is just creating FUD especially for those who entered early.

344  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin holders will have to pay their tax? on: June 23, 2018, 10:21:36 AM
What do you mean "if"? Most governments are already beginning to tax it, and given the fact Bitcoin won't go away and "die" the others will join as well it is only a matter of time. To your second point, I don't think that hinders the growth of the community, if anything I believe it helps it in an indirect way. You see the biggest sharks and sharps in the world won't enter the market because it is unregulated and they don't want to put millions on unregulated exchanges. If all the exchanges become regulated, sure it may stifle growth a little in the short term, but in the long term I think it is in all our best interests because the sharks will enter knowing the exchanges are 100% regulated and secure from fraud.

That’s true. I’m not sure why people think that you do not have to pay any taxes for bitcoin. In fact, the IRS has expounded on how you still have to pay taxes for every bitcoin transaction you make and even just for holding. More details here from CNBC crypto:

https://www.facebook.com/cnbccrypto/videos/1612209732195600/

This may not discourage the holders though. It only legitimizes holding btc so this won’t scare them anyway so long as they still get profit. I would honestly prefer to pay taxes rather than having to deal with a crypto ban in my country. It’s likely, however, that most hodlers are just evading.
345  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Will we ever have a bitcoin debit card that works worldwide again? on: June 23, 2018, 09:13:04 AM
Having one would be really convenient. Actually, the wallet which I use right now allows me to transfer my btc directly to my debit card. It is also automatically converted from btc to our fiat local currency. It’s very convenient and there are no fees. Since there’s a third party (the wallet service provider) the bank won’t be suspicious nor would you have to deal with messy regulations.
346  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the government really scary? on: June 22, 2018, 09:03:57 AM
What’s scary about the government is its power to supress and what’s even scarier is when people don’t know their rights. The government may have power but they get it from the people. Thus, the concept of sovereignty. Let’s say for example the government decides to impose a ban on crypto or declare it illegal in your country — then simple possession of crypto may bring you to jail. However, the crypto users may complain that it’s a deprivation of their rights.
347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Mental Responses That Will Make You Lose Money on: June 22, 2018, 08:39:58 AM
Human brain is no doubt one of the most important component of the human body and that the ones who exactly know how to make the best possible use of the brain are the ones who are making lot of money and are amongst the world’s wealthiest persons. You can also be one of them but for that you need to make the best possible use of this thing so that you may also get what you want in your life.
No doubt in this. But what if someone wants to kill himself, does he should be using the best aspects of his mind and plan so fantastically using the efficiency of his mind to kill himself? No, definitely no. we have to stop him and he must be stopping himself too. Likewise, in gambling, this is just a story of killing yourself financially and then let yourself engaged in how to use your mind efficiently.
That is the martingale strategy Grin. I fell for it when I used to gamble, got so comfortable with it that I will just let it keep rolling until one day when I realized the house edge will always win when those long streak of losses comes. This is a game of chance and sometimes, we always get to forget that all in the name of thinking we have arrived with some strategy and then we just lose everything at the end.

The worst thing that can ever happen to any gambler is things working out pretty fine from the start, getting so comfortable, and falling straight into that trap.

This is why there are morals and values. Even while the capacity of the brain allows one to make intelligent decisions, it is a person’s morals and values which will guide their decisions. An intelligent person may be capable of coming up with an elaborate plan to kill one’s self (or another person?) but it is their morality that will stop them if they value life. Same goes for gambling since there are those who view it as evil.
348  Other / Off-topic / Re: bounty Advertising does nothing on: June 21, 2018, 02:33:49 PM
I guess you don't have a sense of humor. No , I'm not being racist I'm just stating a fact, these 3rd worlders are turning this forum into a hellhole because they are only here for the money.

This thread you have created just adds to the garbage.

Bounty advertisement may not yield to high quality results due to its current standards but it has still been profitable because its still an effective means to publicize. Keep in mind that third world countries are not populated by 100% poor citizens. Or are you really just that narrow minded?

Perhaps you’re just bitter that these 3rd worlders are actually earning money?

352  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going to $400 on: June 19, 2018, 04:15:17 PM
It seems you can easily foreseen the future and bitcoin has been getting a hit since you make this post.  However I don't pray that bitcoin should get down to $400.  There are some speculations that some speculators has made hear and to some extent I agree with them but now I actually disagree with bitcoin going to $400.
very silly sound once lol
he looks very strange with this made thread, sir. at any time the bitcoin price will never touch the price at $ 400. If that's true there will be how many hundred investors will go crazy for hearing something like this. he should not assume something will happen before it actually happens.

He has the right to believe whatever he wants.
I think that there is no chance BTC even dropping below $5k again.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how crazy it is. Anyone has the right to say that bitcoin will go down to even zero if they want. However, it’s sad when people say such statements without even backing it up with evidence. If you predict the price to be as so, you should have cited some reasons why otherwise your opinion has no bearing.
353  Economy / Economics / Re: Cost of Living Comparison on: June 19, 2018, 04:08:43 PM
Sometimes I really wonder whether or not I should relocate, considering that the cost of living here in my country and city is pretty much one of the most expensive places you can live in currently. While other countries are certainly on the other end of the spectrum with dirt cheap living costs.

A big part of this is probably caused by the fact that the income that you would get at less expensive countries, if you were living, would be much less than in an expensive country, due to the isolation of the labour force from international markets.

If you can somehow obtain an online job that pays in bitcoin, which is a borderless currency that doesn't have country restrictions, you could really take advantage theoretically by going to a country where the cost of living is lower. Practically how this works out is debatable, but it's just an idea.

Actually there are already those who rely on earning bitcoin because it has helped them a lot. Many of the users in this forum participate in signature campaigns so that they may earn bitcoin and this has helped them pay for their daily expenses. It’s not so reliable but it has provided them with some financial assistance. Since the standard income in some countries is not enough to cover for daily expenses due to the high cost of living, there is the need for others to look for sideline jobs like earning btc.
354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Frustrations: Losing Streak on: June 19, 2018, 04:03:54 PM
A losing streak is what discourages most gamblers and some believe that it is hard to get rid. Some superstitious people may even believe that having a losing streak would mean that you are bad luck for a long period of time, and that you would have to do something to revert it. Sometimes even losing just once would make you feel bad, the more when you lose many times consecutively. The only way a gambler could overcome this is accepting the defeat and continue playing.
355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We should write about our successes to increase Bitcoin adoption on: June 19, 2018, 03:59:16 PM
Stories like these are very encouraging and has made the impression that people can become rich through bitcoin. Although publications like these would definitely help make the name of bitcoin be better and possibly remove it’s negative associations (like crime and money laundering). Having more books about success stories would also show the benefits there are in bitcoin and how it is much more than just an imaginary coin.
356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Have firm decisions on trading, hodle for future long term profits. on: June 19, 2018, 03:47:35 PM
Being firm in your decisions wouldn't be my top piece of advice. You shouldn't change your mind easily but being stubborn is also not the answer. You should always take time to consider your position and what is the best course of action from there. If it's changing your direction then you shouldn't be against doing it.

Traders should also be flexible since it’s not all the time when a coin may potentially have a higher value. Events may occur when it should be the right time for you to sell otherwise you would incur a loss. It’s important to be firm when there are FUDs and negative news that would make you feel worried. Being firm should depend on the situation — I think that it doesn’t apply to all cases.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long Crypto currency will survive? on: June 19, 2018, 03:28:41 PM
How long is crypto will survive in this world ?

What could kill Crypto?

The time will come that the mining setups might cost way more than it should. By then, it is possible that the return of investment would be lower than what people expected to be. If this happens, it is possible that people would stop investing in cryptocurrency as resources may be limited and as mentioned, the return of investment would be lower.
358  Economy / Economics / Re: Money laundering tools on: June 19, 2018, 02:59:18 PM
Yes that’s true. Cryptocurrency can be used for money laundering. In fact four primary areas of criminal activity lend themselves to cryptocurrency: tax evasion, money laundering, contraband transactions, and extortion. This is the reason why many countries are against cryptocurrencies. But I think that’s the fault of people and not Bitcoin that they are using this wonderful technology for such illegal motives

The use of crypto have become a way to facilitate these kinds of criminal activities. It’s sad that bitcoin has become associated to these and has given it a bad name. Criminals have taken advantage of the anonymity of bitcoin and the fact that it’s decentralized. It would also be hard for the police or investigating bodies to trace so its preferred by the  criminals.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: WON 2000+ LTC on Fortunejack - is Fj broke ? on: June 19, 2018, 02:06:41 PM
I don't think that they will try to steal your coins. It is just standard operating procedure. When you increase your deposit by 3x, naturally it raises a few eyebrows. They will allow the withdrawal only after confirming that you haven't done any cheating or hacking.

I agree there is a standard procedure to check user's bets before releasing funds especially if we are talking about big amount but the standard procedure should be clear. At least give the user an approximate time on how long the process will be done. Based on what we have seen (as posted by Lutpin), they took up to 4 months to process big withdrawal. Is that a standard time? I believe it can be done much more faster,  a month is even too long time for such verification process.

I don’t think that 3-4 months can be considered as SOP just for verification. Verification should not take so long. IMO, fortunejack lack the funds at the moment so they’re just stalling and delaying the withdrawal. It’s good that they came through with the withdrawals (as shared by Lutpin) otherwise their repo would be tarnished however they take too long so it may make others worry. They should really do something about this or else their regular players may choose to play at other sites where withdrawal processes are faster and more convenient.
360  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Watch out for the scams out there on: June 19, 2018, 01:52:58 PM
Look out for the people who arent willing to do escrow. Their will be guys coming on here promising you any gift card but you first must send them money. First sign is low posting number. There is a lot of signs showing someone may be a scam.

This kind of scenario is already familiar with almost all members of this forum, that's why many screw services are made because of this all scammers that are rambling around in this forum. But i don't like the idea of a "low posting number" is a sign of a scam specially for newbies, because all of the members of this forum starts with the rank of a newbie and we all starts with nothing or lacks of knowledge about crypto currency. That's why we inter into this world to know all the best and safest way of earning money using crypto currencies.
Yeah a low post number or your rank is not a sign of being untrustworthy, this assumption is why scammers can get away with many scams by buying accounts, an user may be a newbie but if it has completed many trades with more established members then that is a sign of a trustworthy person but no matter the circumstances when it comes to bitcoin we need to always use escrow.

It’s true that having a “low post number” does not exactly mean that one is a scammer however this has given the notion that the user is not trustworthy enough. Many times a scammer would create a new account in dealing with his illegal transactions so as to avoid getting a red trust in their original account or so that the new account is easily disposable once it gains a negative trust.
