341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The number one cryptocurrency on: January 31, 2019, 03:19:31 PM
Hey guys,
I am quite interested in your opinion about Bitcoin losing its number one spot in the crypto world because I have recently thought about that myself. Do you think this will ever happen or do you rather think Bitcoin will always be the number one?

Which altcoins do you think have at least enough potential to take over the lead in order to become the new number one at some point in the future?
To find out I have listed the current top 20 coins and you are allowed to choose five of them. If you choose the option 20 "Another altcoin (already existing)" please let us know which altcoin you think about. Besides feel free to discuss, of course.

in order to be number one people should pick one currency that they think would be number one. I don't think anyone can deny that bitcoin will continue to be number one but other than that I think eth has good following and support but its shaky.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Concerning the future of bounty programs on: January 31, 2019, 03:16:17 PM
It is likely that over the next year and a half, the number of ICOs that appear on the market will steadily decrease. And this state will last until Bitcoin overcomes the $ 15,000 mark, after which large investors will return to this market. And only after that the projects will again have the opportunity to collect the necessary amounts for their development.

Yeah, I think icos will continue its current trend until bitcoin reaches certain threshold which affects everything else and bigger ico returns to the market just like it was back in 2017.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EOSTime EOS Auctions on: January 31, 2019, 03:08:49 PM
We just launched a site called EOSTime. We host provably fair auctions where you can bid small amounts of EOS to win a larger amount of EOS in a real-time auction. They work like penny auctions whereby any bid placed in the final seconds of an auction resets the timer to give others a chance to bid while eliminating network latency as an issue (i.e. everyone can get a  bid in if they want). When the timer runs out, the last bidder wins. I will be editing this topic and adding much more information, but I wanted to post now because we have an auction scheduled to end in about 5 hours and 15 minutes (about 14:10 UTC 1/31) where you can win more than 40 EOS. Check it out here: https://eostime.io

I like this idea but what about all the bidders who don't win? Do they get their invested EOS back so they can bid again or is it like a lottery system?
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any Big Upcoming ICO Like Bittorrent token ? on: January 29, 2019, 12:45:46 PM
missed the BTT ICO boat coz the presale went fast as hell

you guys know any big Upcoming ICOs?

You can track all upcoming ICO through icobench or other websites that review ICO. I have not seen anything that you may consider big like bittorrent.
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Time to buy? on: January 28, 2019, 12:47:26 PM
Do you think it's time to buy tokens now? the market seems quite low now, or should wait?

It's never a bad time to buy in current market, you should be asking this question if market was at peak and there was a chance it would decline but that's not the case so you're free to buy anytime you please.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When Should I Expect The Next Bull Run? on: January 28, 2019, 12:31:10 PM
I got into Crypto July 2017 , as newbie i was much afraid so i never took the risk so 2017 bull run pass over me .. 2018 the expectation was really high  so i took the risk but things fall apart .. I invested $5000 in Altcoins last year but right its  worth  less than $400 ..  I know one  day there is going to be another bull  run .. Should i expect the bull run this year or i should  expect it in three years time  !!

nobody knows an answer to when should you expect bull run next. If you can give your reasoning behind why you think anyone should know an answer to that question. I think we should see some improvement this year in first quarter but not keeping my hopes high since it can go in any direction.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 4-year market cycle approach on: January 26, 2019, 12:45:23 PM
Hey guys, I've just seen a video about 4-year cycle model on BTC (and overall) market price. I wonder what do you folks think about it. For me this model looks pretty realistic to be truth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfts2qHGle0

sadly, video has been removed by the user but from what I understand 4-year cycle model works for the economy so I don't see why it wouldn't work for bitcoin unless something major happens that changes its course.
348  Economy / Speculation / Re: January...The Next Few Weeks Will Be Crucial on: January 26, 2019, 12:40:13 PM
We are aware that the coin market is full of uncertainties but this is going to be a crucial year for Bitcoin, considering the upcoming decision on ETF. We are not even certain that prices have settled to rock bottom yet and folks been asking my views. To me, we really can't know for certain until regulators such as SEC make their stance known by this month. We're sure that a negative decision could have Bitcopin trade as low as below $3000, but that's really good news because it's going to be the very worst we experience thais year. https://cryptoinfowatch.com/bitcoin-news-today-the-obstacles-to-mainstream-adoption/

I'm not so sure why people think SEC would have any impact on bitcoin. I don't think it would effect it much regardless of SEC decision.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sending in fake ID for KYC on: January 26, 2019, 12:37:23 PM
I just was brought up to speed on groups of people sending in fake/Photoshopped ID's by scanning public records to defeat the KYC process and it seemingly is very easy to do.  It appears that many people sent in fake documentation to the Bob's and Polymath KYC and had no hassles.  How do these companies verify people if all they have to go on is public information?  Did they even really check the ID's or were they simply collected the data?  How rampant do you think this is?  How many of us are complete fools for turning in our documents when others simply faked it.  Now they have our data and the people who faked it are still secure.

NOT FAIR.

eh that defeats the purpose of KYC. I do not think they verify it as its only for the purpose to show who invested what in ICO. I stay away from any ICO that wants to do KYC due to the same reason you mentioned. Some of them do KYC through telegram or email, that's much better and safer in my opinion so thats what I stick with but I wouldn't gamble by sending fake docs.
350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High or Low Supply: Which do you prefer? on: January 24, 2019, 04:46:49 PM
When it comes to picking your altcoins, do you take into consideration coin supply?  And if so, do you prefer high or low supply coins?

I don't think coin supply is related to the growth but I do prefer low supply coin as they're easy to maintain. I don't prefer seeing 2 gazillion token that are worth 2 cents but thats just personal preference.
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: exchange fees that no one talks about on: January 24, 2019, 04:43:37 PM
how is it that every one is complaining about bitcoin high fees etc. but they arent talking about the ridiculous exchange withdrawal fees? these fees cost 10$ usd. that is sky high fees. this is tradesatoshi site. other site were charging alot too. u want to send and receive but these exchanges are making more money that the miners. where are you guys going to send and withdrawing your coins? these exchanges charging a dime for the withdrawal fees is not going to drive up adoption. i rather transact with a visa card. imagine buying some kfc and ur sending bitcoins through but get charge 10$ extra because exchange fees. thats bs.

that title sounds like what I would see on you-tube but to you point, there are other exchanges that do not charge much in fees and you're free to move from exchange to exchange to see what fits your needs. It's their business so there is not much to say on how they should run it other than switching platform.
352  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 13 celebrities who back cryptocurrency and may own millions in bitcoin on: January 24, 2019, 04:33:37 PM
Up until relatively recently, cryptocurrency hadn’t captured the interest of the general public; it was reserved almost exclusively for the engineers, developers, and entrepreneurs who had been involved in its conception around a decade ago.

However, the bitcoin bubble in 2017 caused cryptocurrencies to soar in value, and led to millions purchasing cryptoshares and even setting up their own mining farms.

Despite the considerable drop in the value of bitcoin over the past year, experts are predicting a new cryptocurrency boom in the near future, possibly from 2020.

There are many other celebrities who have been part of crypto for a long time. I think some of them do it just for publicity and then disappear when their sponsored token starts devaluing.
353  Economy / Economics / Re: Do internet blackouts highlight a potentially fatal flaw in cashless societies on: January 22, 2019, 12:37:11 PM
shutting down internet is only a temporary measure that any country can take, it is not a permanent solution. There are drawbacks of cashless society but benefits more from perspective of the government, as an individual you may have more to lose than gain but I think we're still far from cashless society at least for another decade.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ⚠ ⚠ CRYPTOPIA EXCHANGE HACKED! -- REALTIME INVESTIGATION THREAD ⚠ ⚠ on: January 22, 2019, 12:29:21 PM
So it was really Cryptopia exit scam? Or it was another successful hacker attack?

There is a golden rule how to protect yourself: Do not safe your cryptocurrencies on CEXs (centralized exchanges)!

There is still no confirmation if this is an exit scam but I doubt if it is, they reported it to police and tech authority if this is an exit scam by Cryptopia then they will be caught, but of course, the police have to be that good to trace if it is an exit scam.
they are digging their own grave if they reported it to police and if they did it themselves, the hack was probably an inside job, probably an employee put some backdoor in the code and exploit it, it's a shame this exchange got hacked i actually like this exchange because of fast withdrawal, i usually use doge and the withdrawal will come out 1 second later, i probably still haven't seen all maybe just the tip of the iceberg.

unless you have a proof that it was an inside job it is not a great idea to spread rumor based on your intuition as it will scare more people away from crypto and it will reflect on the price. It would be beneficial to wait for few weeks to see what really happened. I don't really use that exchange but I've heard many people use it.
355  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance CEO saying don't keep coins on exchanges on: January 21, 2019, 12:24:40 PM

After some recent high profile hacks happening, Changpeng Zhao shares tips on keeping safe, mostly coming from a place of holding personal responsibility.  But some say this is nonsense.

If you read the article there is a quote in that from Changpeng which says “Some people seems to misread this tweet. It lists 3 options. It does not say which option is better than another, as that depends on each person’s security skill, preference, fund allocation, etc. Most importantly, it is an ad for the [Binance DEX]. My bad for not making it clear,”.

you have misinterpreted what was said just like many others but it is mentioned in the article that this is not what he meant.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tron Founder Justin Sun Wants to ‘Rescue’ DApp Developers from Ethereum & EOS on: January 21, 2019, 12:17:51 PM
this doesn't sound like a great news for ETH which has already taken major hit from investors and holders alike. Perhaps it is sort of self promotion which may lead to nothing but if they start leaving it will really damage ETH in big ways.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fighting for bounty hunters right on: January 21, 2019, 12:12:10 PM
Hello friends,

Do you know of any organization in which bounty hunters can actually report in order to claim their right?, To be paid off their earning in which the campaign is holding.
I participated in a bounty campaign for several months and now when it is actually time for distribution now they changes the rule and actually introduce new rules which lead to the disqualification of more than 95% of the bounty participants. Which is actually too painful.

Sadly, there is very little you can do about it other than going to scam accusations and reporting what happened. If you don't mind releasing can you tell us which bounty was it and how were the rules changed? I think in the future there will be more work done by the people to make sure people don't get ripped off but for now you just have to do whats mentioned above and try to be little more careful next time.
358  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain values to maintain in 2019 on: January 18, 2019, 12:39:28 PM
I thought this was a great post about how we should approach the current bear market and beyond:

https://medium.com/@moac_io/blockchain-values-to-maintain-in-2019-88de8b771480

For me, patience is a big thing. It's easy to forget that crypto is still so young and I've still doubled if not tripled my investment

that article is related to blockchain and I don't think anyone can argue that blockchain will continue to be valuable in the near future. crypto is not same blockchain though and one shouldn't confused them with each other, although they are connected they are not the same thing.
359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people think technical knowlege is required to invest in or adopt bitcoin. on: January 18, 2019, 12:26:44 PM
I came across a lot of thread where people say "Lack of technical knowledge is the reason why people don't use bitcoins". I need to know why such people think technical knowledge is required to invest in or adopt bitcoin.

Let's say, professor of Arts is given a laptop without any working internet browser can he surf the web. Majority of us cant. The browser makes it look easy. Some of the non-technical people might not know what tls_ecdhe_rsa_with_aes_128_gcm_sha256 Connection encrypted is, that doesn't stop them from banking online.

I don't know what technical knowledge is required to fly an Airbus A380 but I have been a passenger of one, I took the risk and trusted the driver(pilot) to be not drunk.

What normal person consider is risk to reward ratio, how much he will be benefited for taking that risk.  Even while switching a job you might face unemployment but your new job might pay you more.

And assets like gold are consider safe because of its acceptability by masses and not the technical knowledge required to refine gold ore.

I have written a post on how I introduced my village farmers to bitcoins. My village farmers cant even read their bitcoin paper wallet they only know its valve and risk of investing in it. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5098721.0

with bitcoin its not as simple as swiping card or using an ATM. You are your own bank, so you have to know how to keep your fund secure which requires knowledge of private/public key, encryption, hardware wallet and so forth. If you are dealing with small amount may be its not needed but if you're talking about mass adoption which would mean people are using bitcoin and keeping it with them then it would require for them to have technical knowledge. not difficult but requires willingness to change your old pattern. Young generation is more likely to use bitcoin than old one according to a survey, so adoption isn't too far.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2019 will be better then 2017 :) ? on: January 17, 2019, 12:57:39 PM
lets do it, speculation about this.

what is good and bad news about this year?  for example - new forks, ETF s, SEC.

hard target but I sure hope it will be better than 2018. I don't consider SEC to be a good news for crypto in any condition but there are rumors of certain people getting in crypto that can really change the current market condition if it is to happen anytime this year.
