I see a red block and I wanted it painted green.

I am not feeling this bad luck streak. Sad
342  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Hacking the S7 - improving efficiency through minor hardware manipulation on: August 10, 2016, 04:17:45 AM
Really appreciate this thread thanks! There seem to be different versions sellers of the pickit3. As a noob is there a standard I should order? expect to pay about $65? Also this thread suggest this mod will only work with the 135 chip BM miner. I will try the s7, but if I'm going after an S5 mod I should look elsewhere?

I posted my recommendation for getting the PICkit3 direct from the manufacturer Microchip Technology Inc. here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1504228.msg15332015#msg15332015

The pricing is not bad considering you know it is not a gray market item. The company only offers overnight shipping to the United States and it costs about $7. I think my total cost for the PICkit3, extension cable, and overnight shipping was ~$50.

The remote feature sounds nice. Personally, I think it is just one more component to worry about failing.

They already make PDUs that do this very same thing. I guess it really depends on your needs.

It actually is kinda annoying to read the same [mostly incoherent and thoroughly profane] conversation in two different threads. You'll have a lot more people paying attention to your message if you're less of a mudslinging jerkass, especially to veterans.

Well put. Personally, I find it hard to take someone seriously when they only have 7 posts and a name like random699. There are too many trolls and folks with hidden agendas out their with low post counts and arbitrary names to take this particular person any more seriously than the next such person especially when the user's post history has a very specific theme.

COME ON THE GREENS!!!!!!!!!!

Gonna be a low thirties this one, I can feel it in my bones.

I will drink a beer to that.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Memorycoin ★ Modern CPU PoW ★ COMPLETELY GPU/ASIC FREE ★ NO Free PoS on: August 07, 2016, 12:47:00 AM
It would be great if we could help MMC gain traction on the markets, especially on big exchanges like Poloniex. This altcoin is a very good one to mine and hold into your wallets for long term. The only thing that keeps me worried is whenever a new development team will take on the project (or the community) to keep it going into the long term. I've always imagined of a new MMC wallet with new features, but I guess that will far from happening since (up to my knowledge) there is no active dev for the coin.  Sad

I would honestly like to see an update to the code base as well, but I think the first issue to tackle is grant blocks and whether they should stay or not. I wish Delinquency was still around, but either he has abandoned us completely, taken a religious sabbatical, or landed himself in the hospital or worse.

still waiting on that pool/guide... I have a VPS standing by

I am working on the mmc-p2pool source code because I found an error in the subsidy function.

Additionally, I believe there is a problem with grant blocks that has not yet been resolved. If I remember correctly, mmc-p2pool is unable to solve grant blocks because the original p2pool code only builds one kind of block. At this point, I do not know how to resolve the grant block issue. Without someone manually solving grant blocks, mmc-p2ool will halt until the grant block is solved.
348  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Aug 2 to Aug 16. Picks are yet to start. prize =0.00 on: August 06, 2016, 08:13:02 AM
02.08.2016 18:50   423360
06.08.2016 07:30   423931

571blocks next diff:   12.41%   226955995931

when will it stop?

Well, at least we had one drop. I do not foresee any significant downturn unless the price drops significantly and stays down for some time.
349  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: August 05, 2016, 04:46:56 PM
Just did the math again and on average the pool would need to get 8 blocks per month for it to be slightly more profitable than selling all my hash to nicehash. I fully appreciate the luck aspect but I just see more and more red filling the block list on the stats page  Cry

Oh and I fully appreciate that its no ones fault and this is a great pool to hash with, I just wish there was some better luck.

8 blocks a month sounds about right at our current hashrate. The problem is that our variability is too high because of our low hashrate. Sad
350  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: August 05, 2016, 10:18:34 AM
We are on a roll! 3 blocks within 30 hours. Hot damn!
351  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: August 05, 2016, 07:53:51 AM
It certainly is. I've had to pool balance at nicehash aswell to try and get some income from my little miner. 2/3 pointed here and 1/3 hashpower pointed at nicehash. Our luck is really sucking. If I pointed all my hash at nicehash I would just break even each month. Need at least 4blocks a month here to do the same and things just aren't going that way lately  Sad

I have my S7-LN miners pointed here, but I recently pointed all of my S3 miners at p2pool which accounts for about 23% of my hashing power. In the last month, I have made more on my S3 miners at p2pool than all of my S7-LN miners here. What a bummer.

Our luck is really sucking. UGH
353  Other / Archival / Re: Diff thread July 18 to Aug 1st? picks are Now closed! prize = $50 usd on: August 02, 2016, 01:30:57 AM
I guess that I was not too conservative at -7.5% after all. I was really hoping for more downward pressure, but I am sure the price remaining above $600 assisted in that way.
354  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: July 28, 2016, 08:29:43 AM
That's the trouble that little run of a couple of easy blocks is ruined by the increase in long blocks we seem to be suffering. I just wonder if there is anything that could be done? Server restart or something?

I doubt it. That is the problem with luck. Sometimes you never catch a break and sometimes you do.
355  Other / Archival / Re: Diff thread July 18 to Aug 1st? picks are open! prize = $50 usd on: July 28, 2016, 01:52:57 AM
Well, projections continue to sink into the negative territory. I am beginning to think that my -7.5% was too modest. Sad
356  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: July 28, 2016, 01:51:36 AM
No not really  Sad

It wasn't so long ago that we had a difficult block then two really easy ones in quick succession.

That 97.86% red one was worth almost 4 blocks and it does not help that we seem to get quite a few blocks around 80%. The 2 green blocks you are referencing are worth virtually nothing in comparison. Do not get me wrong, I was not deterred by the long block and I stayed on BitMinter, but it was still irritating.
357  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: July 27, 2016, 08:46:55 PM
COME ON BLOCK!!!!!

Our luck has not been very good these last few blocks. Sad
358  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: July 27, 2016, 07:14:32 PM
BLOCK!!! Holy hell finally!

I thought it was more than 0.4 BTC... I was contributing 0.1 or so.  I agree, lets volunteer windpath  Tongue

How do you see which node found the block?

When restarting my server, is there a graceful way to terminate p2pool or should I just kill the process?

if anyone could write/link me up a guide on how to do this, I could easily spare some resources.
I lack the expertise to get the daemon and pool portion running currently (as in : I've never done this before).

lets get this going while MMC is still on Poloniex

I just returned late last night. I will try to get something up by tomorrow night, but it may have to wait as I have a bunch of work to get caught up on.
