I'm really not sure about that large F. It seems a bit to comical personally. That lettering might be more suitable for something like BBQCoin Smiley
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UPDATED FC Feathercoin Bounties and how you can help, earn FC, get FREE FC on: April 24, 2013, 08:53:58 AM
I have posted a 2,000FC bounty the details of which are in the post linked in below.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178286.msg1928765#msg1928765

Go check it out. Psybit would you be kind enough to add this to the first post Smiley
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 24, 2013, 08:51:47 AM
I am offering a 2,500FC bounty for the best Feathercoin design. I know we have some very competent people here and there is a lot enthusiasm right now so I am you 24 hours to come up with a design. I will then choose the best one objectively before subjectively. After which the graphic will be compiled into the clients.

It must be at least 256x256, be a PNG image, have a transparent background and use antialiasing, so no jagged edges.

Vector graphics will of course be accepted Smiley
344  Economy / Service Discussion / VPS that will not object to bitcoin daemons running on: April 24, 2013, 07:45:45 AM
I am looking for hosting to run various services off of a Bitcoin daemon. My concern is that I will end up choosing a host that is hostile to Bitcoin.

Can anyone recommend a good host from experience?
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's up with Altpool for FC? on: April 24, 2013, 06:33:18 AM
I think bitcoiners is going round hitting ignore on anyone that talks about FeatherCoin. That is going to make this forum a hard place for him to follow conversations Smiley
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What current alt crypto-currency do YOU believe in? on: April 24, 2013, 06:31:36 AM
rofl- all the Feathercoin votes must be people trollin'

Those that have a different opinion are trollin, good to know.  It's 'cute' how everything is a troll these days. Happy trading.

It's not the fact that people who have different opinions are trolling. It's the fact the Feathercoin has been out less than a week, there is absolutely nothing to do with it but trade it on sketchy Google document trading services, there are no REAL exchanges for it, nothing to buy, no services... it is as this point completely and utterly worthless except for speculation.

Now... will that change in the future? Maybe.

But, it is a joke that so many people "believe" in Feathercoin at this point in time. There is no evidence that it will live past next month, hardly any evidence of development yet, and it is an exact copy cat of Litecoin that provides no innovation.

All the new people are just obsessed with becoming Millionaires like the early Bitcoin adopters. But, I highly doubt this will pan out the way that they are thinking it will.

I believe it is popular because it fills a niche that people have been waiting for. FeatherCoin can happily sit along side Bitcoin and Litecoin where as a lot of the other Scrypt coins come out as alternatave to Litecoin which I think is a mistake.

Right now I am very busy trying to get various services up to support FC. Afterwards I am returning to development of the coin.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin network passed 850MH/S ! on: April 23, 2013, 06:39:56 PM
With the increased difficulty the network hashrate is finally dropping. Hopefully we will see a difficulty reduction tomorrow, for some easy to mine coins.
If you're talking about FC.. The network hashrate is going to cause difficulty to probably double. Not reduce.

Maybe after the next 2016 blocks, it will reduce. There is still a lot of questions and uncertainty about FC, it is only a week old.

I was not paying attention, I took a look at the stats and read the current difficulty as 30.

349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin on Mt. Gox this month huh? LOLZ on: April 23, 2013, 04:14:40 PM
I would rather they take their time and have a stable exchange.

Agreed. It would have been bizarre to see Gox fail to handle BTC traffic and launch a LTC support at the same time.

quick check, Sophos report a malware when opening the feathercoin forum index. is it legit or not?  Roll Eyes

Are you talking about the official forum linked in below or another one?

http://forum.feathercoin.com/

Do you have any details from Sophos?
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 23, 2013, 10:23:59 AM
That is most excellent. Support for this coin is coming together quick.

Would it be possible to put the source code for this under GPL and put it on feathercoin.com ? Together with a block explorer. So that everything is in one place.

For most of the other alt coins you have to go to several places to get this info - Feathercoin could stand out with everything in one place. Nice and tidy.

The plan is to bring it together under feathercoin.com. I am hoping to get most of the tools I have used for other coins on one site for FeatherCoin.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 23, 2013, 10:07:25 AM
Is the time to next diff posted anywhere?  Next one will probably be a huge jump...

I just made a site with the following:
  • Current Block
  • Current Difficulty
  • Expected Time to Find a Block
  • Estimated Network Hashrate
  • Estimated Time to Difficulty Retarget
  • Projected Next Difficulty
  • Total Coins Mined
Check it out: http://benhohner.com/feathercoin/statistics.php

That is most excellent. Support for this coin is coming together quick.

As I continue to give out coins to users at BTC-E, I noticed a bit of resistance I'd like to be able to overcome on a consistent basis. Here are the tough questions:

- Why bother with Feathercoin?
- Will Feathercoin include any different features to distinguish itself from Litecoin?
- Feathercoin is just a coin that is for people that missed the boat with Litecoin, right?
- We don't need another crypto coin, right? Too many, it confuses the public.
- Feathercoins difficulty is already too high!
- The developers just a few variables and called it a new coin

It would be nice if we had a website that addresses those issues. We could keep a consistent message and point users to the link.

The people on BTC-e want to trade. Put FeatherCoin on an exchange and they'll be interested in it. Until then you'll have a tough job convincing any of them. We have come along way in less than a week but we have much further to go.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is premining? on: April 22, 2013, 05:59:57 PM
I've changed the definition for public-premine to the one below which is based on SunnyKing's feedback.

Quote
Public premine - when a coin is launched with no advanced notice and low difficulty

This still means that the majority of coins are public premined Smiley
355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: FeatherCoin - New Litecoin based coin on: April 22, 2013, 12:40:05 PM
I see people have gone mad about Feathercoin. (afraid, i might be one of them)

Why? Is this is all because everyone wants to try starting early with some coin? I can't see any other reason. FC is just a copy of Litecoin and basically has no chance being better. Why use it at all?

It is more abundant than Litecoin as it has four many coins. This is to make it compliment Litecoin and not directly compete with it like Litecoin does to Bitcoin. This is not a choice between Litecoin and FeatherCoin as you can have both. Currently I hold Bitcoin, Litecoin and Feathercoin. That is what everyones portfolio should look like Smiley

I am busy building services for FeatherCoin right now and will return afterwards to the codebase to continue working on the clients. Right now I am working full time on FeatherCoin.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FC] The FeatherCoin Information Thread on: April 22, 2013, 11:19:52 AM

That first explorer is full of mistakes so should not be used. The second is most excellent Smiley
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTB] 100,000 FeatherCoin for 440LTC or 10BTC on: April 22, 2013, 11:02:59 AM
You offer too much,no way they are worth above 0.5ltc/1k atm.

Fine, but I am finding it difficult to get people to part with this coin.

My offer is 0.1BTC per 1,000FC as I think that is a fair deal.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [WTB] 100,000 FeatherCoin for 440LTC on: April 22, 2013, 10:41:51 AM
As the title says I am looking to purchase 100,000 FeatherCoin for 440LTC.

I think it is right, that I have an invested interest, and I need to fund bounties.

359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [FC] The FeatherCoin Information Thread on: April 22, 2013, 09:50:19 AM
I have created an Official FeatherCoin forum.

http://forum.feathercoin.com

@Number6, do you want to put this informational port on the forum above or should I do it?
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FeatherCoin just hit 500MH/s on Network! on: April 22, 2013, 09:37:12 AM
Once it hits a major exchange, there's no telling where it will go.
Once that happens the pumping phase is over and the dumping part begins. Dump all worthless coins to noobs. Profit!  Cheesy

I'm very keen to see an exchange turn up, so I can buy all the coins. I have been making some purchases on the forum but I'm hoping an exchange will bring cheaper coins.

I am offering a 20,000FC bounty for an exchange that support FeatherCoin. An exchange will help support interest in the coin and its longevity.
