341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't only pray for mass adoption, start HODLING!! on: January 15, 2024, 07:35:45 AM
Mass adoption doesn't mean buying BTC and HODLing. Mass adoption means people and companies using BTC for payments every day.
I'm sure that most of the forum members are BTC HODLers so your forum post is kinda pointless. Go somewhere online, where there are plenty of people, who aren't aware about Bitcoin and start preaching there. Grin Maybe you will gain a few Bitcoin newbies here and there.
I guess that you are butthurt because the BTC price isn't going after the Bitcoin ETF approval. Don't get too obsessed with the Bitcoin price.
It's normal for the BTC price to go up and down.
342  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Drop to Zero? on: January 14, 2024, 12:03:22 PM
Former deputy governor, BOE believes Bitcoin can drop to zero. I wonder what his opinion is at the moment.

"Their price can vary quite considerably and they could theoretically or practically drop to zero." Jon Cunliffe saiid.

And what's the different between theoritical and practical drop to zero for BTC?

Can the price theoritically drop to zero but practically trade above $40k. Kinda confusing.

This Jon Cunliffe guy is talking about theoretical and practical 0 USD Bitcoin price, but he doesn't explain HOW this will happen?
What force could bring the demand for Bitcoins down to zero? Is it going to be a mass government ban or World War III?
This seems like another mindless FUD about "Bitcoin having no intrinsic value, so the BTC price could possibly drop down to zero".
Theory is theory and some theories cannot happen in reality. The BTC price could "theoretically drop to zero" in some weird financial theoretical model, not in reality.

343  Economy / Economics / Re: Vitalik Buterin's Financial Advice on: January 14, 2024, 11:22:44 AM
Vitalik Buterin Took to Twitter to share Some of His Financial Advice.
quoting a Tweet About Bill Gates and Warren Buffett He Wrote:

Quote
Some actual financial advice:

* Diversification is good.
* Save. Get to the point where you have enough to cover multiple years of expenses. Financial safety is freedom.
* Be boring with most of your portfolio.
* Don't use >2x leverage. Just don't.
Tweet Link: https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/1743991285214527532

What are Your thoughts about his financial advice guys? I like the first and 2nd which I've been doing by myself too.

This is the most basic and generic financial advice I've ever seen. Most forum members already know everything about diversification and NOT to use leverage in cryptocurrency trading. I don't know why Vitalik Buterin is posting such generic BS. Does he want to turn into the new Robert Kiyosaki?
Is he about to start selling books and courses about "achieving financial freedom"?
Most crypto investors aren't diversifying their portfolio. Having both Bitcoin and altcoins isn't actual diversification.
I agree that saving is important, but having a bigger income is way more important.
Making 1K per month and saving 100 is way worse than making 10K per month and saving 2K.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 14, 2024, 08:08:44 AM
I would totally freak out, if my mother starts gambling. I would do everything I can to try to stop her from betting money on sports or in a casino.
Many elderly women are buying lottery tickets in my country, but lottery isn't serious gambling. I also know that Bingo games are a thing in the western countries like the UK. Bingo isn't popular in my country at all and I don't consider it to be a hardcore gambling game.
I don't know who the hell on earth would be comfortable seeing his mother in a casino or sports betting shop? Sad
Your question seems kinda pointless to me.
345  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Approval; Price dumps, what Next? on: January 14, 2024, 07:27:23 AM
I think that the 2017/2018 situation on the Bitcoin/crypto markets might be repeating.
Back in 2017, everyone was expecting the launch of Bitcoin futures trading, which built up the hype and pumped the BTC price to 20K.
After BTC futures trading was launched, the price dropped and we saw a bearish market during the entire 2018. I understand that BTC futures trading wasn't the main factor for the 2018 bearish market, but it was a significant enough factor to cause the price to drop.
I don't know if this is going to repeat in the same way. The real bull market might occur in 2025, several months after the Bitcoin halving(and after the big central banks begin lowering the interest rates).
We should be ready for several bearish months in 2024.
346  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: January 12, 2024, 07:32:00 AM
Barcelona has difficulties scoring goals, while Real Madrid scored 5 goals against Atletico.
I know that some of the goals scored by Real were a little bit lucky, but that doesn't mean that the attacking players of Real are weak.
Real Madrid is the clear favorite for winning the Supercup of Spain. They will become even stronger, when Mbappe joins the squad in the summer. Barcelona probably needs a new coach and several new players. Xavi can't find a way to make the team score more goals.

347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 12, 2024, 07:02:35 AM
Women by nature are more conservative than men. They are better manager of resources and know how to prioritise things. This is what is needed for successful gambling because with it, the chances of using funds meant for basic needs in gambling will be minimised.

So do you think women will make better gamblers than men?

What type of gambling are you talking about? Traditional casino games? Sports betting?
I think that female gamblers are as good/bad as male gamblers. Men love risk(probably because of the testosterone), while women mostly hate risk(even though there are some exceptions here and there). I've never seen a woman, who is a very good gambler. Gambling isn't about being conservative or aggressive. Gambling is about knowing when to risk more and when to risk less(or quit the game). Good risk management is more about finding a balance between aggressive betting and conservative betting.
Where did you came up with the idea, that women are better at managing resources? Some women might be good at this, while others might be bad. Generalizations based on gender seem very stupid to me.

348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drug (cocaine) addicts compromises gambling potentials on: January 11, 2024, 11:51:50 AM
Quote
* Is gambling really to be blamed about the laundry drug addict guy who engaged in gambling in order to gain more money and afford his drugs?
Because to me, he has been a drug addict before began to gamble and he strictly gambled consciencelessly just to make profit and buy himself this assorted unhealthy pills (drugs). So, I don't see anyway of gambling being responsible for his irresponsible reputations with his mentality of what triggered him to gambling and his inabilities to control his gambling.

* Was the political social influencer right to say getting to an end of online sport bets in the app stores and the moderating of gambling would regain back the devalued currency and attracts a growing economy back to the nation a right acceptable and good research?
As much as I know, individual indulgences has no stake of influences to affect the national economy at where the government folds its hands of governance While counting national welfareness reliably of the vulnerable individuals. Although, getting to an end of online sport bets from the app stores would contribute to manage the number of psychological gambling addictive effects in the country.

* Is gambling really to be blamed in ruining lifes?
Even though the online casino gambling as influences on the massive audience, I don't think it has been in any strategic or physically enforced a compulsory venture to anyone that he must gamble.
I don't see gambling walking to the players instead the players walks to the gambles so, directly and indirectly gambling has an influence but has not path to be blamed over individuals irrepressible living on their caused of gambling.

1.Yes and No. You can blame the cause of your addiction, but the main cause and problem is your lack of self-control.

2.The idea that banning gambling would force the gamblers to spend more money buying goods and services(and boosting the economy) seems reasonable and stupid at the same time. Banning gambling would only force most of the gamblers to play online via using a VPN and to visit illegal offline casinos, that are hidden in secret places.

3.The blame can be shared between the gambling industry and the gamblers. Let's not pretend that the gambling industry is completely innocent, and on the other hand, let's not pretend that the gamblers are a bunch of gullible and ignorant people, who got manipulated and forced to gamble by the casinos.
349  Economy / Economics / Re: My little forecast for finances and economy 2024-2026 on: January 11, 2024, 11:22:39 AM
Wow so do you teach that things ? Im interested your analysis

If guys like you would know then market would't work.
when everybody knows then nobody cant earn money.
Im full financial person i mean Im hardcore trader i do this for living and Im on it 10000000% that's why i know it.

Why do I have the feeling that Parklane777 and Fullbear2222 are one guy using two accounts? This seems suspicious.
Gold having a 35-40% price correction? Everybody knows that Gold is a safe heaven asset and it's price is going up in times of recession and uncertainty. Why do you think that the demand for gold is going to drop severely in the next year or two?
Crude oil having a bull run? This might happen only if the global crude oil market gets disrupted by a big war in the Middle East. Otherwise no country in the world wants an oil price above 100 USD. Not even Saudi Arabia.
350  Economy / Gambling / Re: From $17 to $37000!!! Craziest Crypto Win in 2023!!!! on: January 11, 2024, 07:51:04 AM
A piece of paper proves everything. Grin All the transaction IDs are conveniently hidden. Grin
This guy won all these profits back in May 2023, but this forum thread is posted now(more than half a year later). This seems kinda suspicious. Why there were no news about this guy back in May 2023?
Why does he have to mention Trustdice? This seems like a sneaky form of marketing coming from Trustdice. I have nothing against new and innovative ways to bring more customers to your casino, but such posts are insulting the intelligence of many gamblers.
It's totally possible for a guy to achieve big wins via gambling, but I can't see any clear evidence, which proves that he actually won 37K USD.

Quote
Today, btc is $40k, and S2F model predicts $532k after 2024 halving. People say it is impossible."

I'm one of those people, who think that a 500K Bitcoin price(or above) is impossible. If such price happens, that would be the biggest "tulip mania" financial bubble in the history of human civilization. Who the hell is going to invest trillions of dollars into buying a financial asset, that has slow transactions and high transaction fees? What's the biggest utility of Bitcoin? Buying at 40K so you could sell at 80K?
I think that a price between 70K and 100K is achievable in a short time frame, there's no way for such price to be sustained for more than 1 or 2 months.
352  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the world soon become tired of the US dollar? on: January 10, 2024, 11:13:22 AM
Just like that, BRICS now controls almost 28% of a global economy that's worth  over $28.5 Trillion.
The economy keeps getting worse and the hike both as concerns interest rates and crypto transaction fees has increased and keeps doing so yearly.

Recently, we see countries like Saudi Arabia,  the UAE that has been making waves with several investments that may include multimillion dollar soccer stars signings, building the tallest building in the world, development of tourism and attractions that bewildered the mind. Also, Iran,  Egypt and Ethiopia has officially joined BRICS and although Argentina rejected the invitation, one question is this,

Are we seeing a time where BRICS currency and cryptocurrencies are the answer to a world tired of the us dollar?

https://watcher.guru/news/brics-welcome-2024-by-officially-adding-5-expansion-nations

I wouldn't consider multimillion dollar soccer star transfers an "investment". The rich countries in the Persian gulf are trying to build a tourist industry, but who is going to visit those destinations? Mostly Americans and Europeans, who are paying with dollars and euro.
It's normal for the US dollar to be facing a global decline in transactions. The world is moving towards a financial system, that won't be dominated by one or two currencies. National currency settlements might be replacing the US dollar. The BRCIS currency is still a concept.
I don't believe that cryptocurrencies will be mass adopted as a payment method in international import/export transactions.
353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gambling every day is better? on: January 10, 2024, 07:24:50 AM
Your friend is clearly delusional(or simply dumb). Maybe he's an actual gambling addict.
This type of mentality "I should gamble every day because it increases my chances of winning" is the typical gambling addict's mentality.
In reality, it's quite the opposite. The more often a gambler spends money, the bigger the chance for him to lose everything. The casino always wins in the long term. In the short term, a gambler has a chance of winning a decent amount and quitting before it's too late.
He can't quit and take the profits, if he has this "I must gamble every day" mentality.
354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you actually think a Bitcoin ETF will be accepted this month? on: January 10, 2024, 07:00:15 AM
I think that the SEC decision is going to be postponed for God knows when. Maybe February or maybe several months.
I wouldn't view it as a tragedy if the Bitcoin spot ETF gets denied. It was a nice bull run from 27K to 45K, caused by all the hype around the BlackRock Bitcoin Spot ETF. The price will crash back to 30K or 20K and we shall keep waiting for the post-BTC halving bull run.
I guess that some crypto friendly hacker got access to the SEC X account. Hackers are on our side. This is a clear sign that we will win the battle against the government. Grin
355  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Neo-colonialism: Is Nigeria Still Under British Rule? on: January 09, 2024, 11:23:47 AM
I'm not from Nigeria, but this topic is very interesting to me.
So what solution are you suggesting to solve this "neo-colonial" problem? Nationalization of the Nigerian oil industry? AFAIK, Nigeria exports most of it's oil and natural resources to the western countries. I'm sure that those countries won't be happy, if the western companies get kicked out of Nigeria. You say that Nigeria exports natural resources and imports industrial products. Why Nigeria can't go thru the process of industrialization in order to produce it's own industrial products? Is anyone stopping Nigeria to do such thing? The corrupt politicians? The western corporations? The lack of educated workforce and enough capital to be invested in the industry?
Whining about the problem won't solve it. I want to discuss the possible solutions.

He proceeded by going to gaming commission and had his name banned by himself, ( Someone please tell me how this is possible?) never seen such in my country before. he claimed he still go back to casinos at times and he knew he can't ever win big again, because his name was flagged in the system, and if he win big they won't pay him

This seems like a great idea to fight gambling addiction. Having a list of gamblers, who voluntarily decided to exclude themselves from winning any money out of playing offline casinos seems like a way to deal with the problem. My country doesn't have such rule of self-exlusion when it comes to offline gambling. The casino owners definitely won't be against imposing such rule, because they won't be losing any money.
Why would you call this guy a fool? He suffered from gambling addiction and he found a way to remove any joy and satisfaction, which he gets out of gambling. He took actions to fight his addiction. He's a hero.
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effortlessly promoting Bitcoin, raising the curiosity of none bitcoin ethusiast on: January 09, 2024, 06:58:26 AM

In conclusion
The promotion of Bitcoin should be strongly encouraged among Bitcoin community individuals. This would certainly help Bitcoin get to the grass root, both in rural and urban regions. These are clearly my opinion.
What do you guys think about Bitcoin promotion and other ways we can promote Bitcoin in our community?

I don't agree that the promotion of Bitcoin should be encouraged. Bitcoin has become very popular on a global scale.
Do you really believe that getting a few people into buying BTC can change anything? The BTC price won't get pumped, just because you convinced several newbies into buying BTC. Grin Do you expect someone to give you a medal for your service? Grin
There's no point promoting Bitcoin, unless you get financial incentive(in the form of commission for every referral), but Bitcoin isn't a product or a company. Be careful about telling people that you own Bitcoins. Some people with bad intentions might get in touch with you.
358  Economy / Economics / Re: Imagine African countries using Bitcoin to pay salaries, on: January 08, 2024, 11:37:48 AM
I don't know if the government of any African country have adopted the system of paying salaries in Bitcoin, but I know here is Nigeria they haven't, it's possible to pay employees using Bitcoin or other crypto currencies ,
With the services of some crypto currency payroll agencies  like Bitwage, papaya global, ontop,  which will make it possible for the government to pay their workers in Bitcoin or other crypto currencies and can be sent  into their digital wallet,
Since it has to do with the government another agency can be set up in the country in respect to paying salaries as Bitcoin which will somehow help in the growth of the economy of the country.

The government paying salaries to whom? The government officials or the employees in the private sector?
1.The government can't pay salaries to the employees in the private sector, because they are in the private sector. Grin It's obvious.
2.No government in the world would agree to pay the salaries of the government officials by using BTC. I don't count some small counties, which have weird presidents like El Salvador.
3.If the business owners(in Africa or anywhere else) want to pay salaries in BTC, almost no government in the world can stop them.
The problem is that the employees have to convert the BTC to fiat, in order to pay for food, bills and taxes. This makes the whole process a little bit pointless.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 08, 2024, 07:53:10 AM
I know that basically gambling is based on luck, but we can use tricks or strategies so that we don't spend a lot of money and can still win, even if it's only a small win.

In general, in my opinion, there are several categories of games in gambling such as house edge games, sportsbooks, slot machine games, live casino games, and lottery. In your opinion, which game do you think is the most logical to win? and what is the reason?

If there was a working strategy to achieve consistent profits out of gambling, all casinos, bookmakers and lotteries would simply go bankrupt.
So the answer is no. There's no logical way to achieve consistent wins. Even sports betting cannot provide consistent results, even when you are really good at analyzing the teams and their performance.
I know about a Romanian mathematician, who discovered a way to win the lottery, but it requires buying lots of tickets, so the investment is big.
There's the legend(of myth) that almost all gambling games are rigged, so that the casino would always win in the end.
How can you win in a rigged game, by using logic and strategy? It's impossible to outsmart the casino.
I don't know if this is true, maybe it is, or maybe it isn't. Nobody can ever prove, that this is true.
360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's Your Exchange to Wallet Ratio? on: January 08, 2024, 07:08:19 AM
Does anybody leave a percentage of their BTC on the exchanges, or do you guys store all your BTC in your wallets, etc?

My current ratio is 100% in cold wallet and 0% in crypto exchange.
Several years ago, when I was a crypto noob, I used to store almost all my BTC in my Localbitcoins account. Luckily, I never got scammed by Localbitcoins(LBC was legit). I also stored small amounts of BTC on other crypto exchanges like HitBTC and Trageogre without getting scammed.
I was ignorant back then. Now, I would never trust a centralized crypto exchange to store my coins in the long term.
Maybe by leaving small amounts of crypto on the exchange you are "flying under the radars" and you won't get scammed. Try leaving big amount of crypto on a centralized exchange and see what happens. Grin
