"Typical sig spammer ban duration escalation is now 14 days, 60 days, permanent. If it's someone I truly feel just needs a warning it will be 7, 30, permanent. This needs to stop so I'm going to be much more aggressive. If 8t doesn't work there's only 2 options left, and neither are good".

There could be a fee added that could be paid in exchange for the length of the ban. That would give some incentive for people to not spam if they were to be unbanned. They can always create threads in meta to appeal their ban but I haven't seen any threads where the community hasnt agreed with the ban.

It isn't a good idea, IMHO. Reach spammers will still spam after they pay the fee and it would allow discrimination. Sometimes high spammers maybe unbanned before low spammers by paying the fee and it is unjust, atleast according to me. I disagree with the *fee thing*.

That would be the point of having a fee. It is giving back to the forum in a positive way after negatively contributing to the forum. I don't know why someone would continue to spam after paying a fine because they could create a new account or just wait out their ban. I'd agree that there could be people who claim discrimination, but it would be easily ousted when threads are created and the evidence is presented. It would probably cause to much arguments over unjust bannings though so it would be more harmful than helpful.

I can sell you 12 packages of Samoas for $40.00 and I'll cover the shipping costs. Message me how many boxes you want and if you're looking for any other types. Also let me know the location I'll be shipping to.
343  Economy / Goods / Re: Shop amazing gadgets! on: March 12, 2015, 03:00:16 AM
Please include actual photos of the items instead of just stock photos. It will get you more business and prove that you aren't a scammer. There's been quite a few people creating accounts and selling items that they don't actually have. They use a stolen credit card to buy it and have it shipped to the person.
Don't worry, Escrow mandatory.

Escrow would not matter in this case as the buyer would be refunded if the attempt fails or the coins would be released and the buyer will have now have had an item shipped to his/her address using a stolen credit card. Escrow doesn't protect from fraud it only ensures you aren't being scammed on the initial purchase.

I'd suggest lowering the fees or changing the structure of them. One and two percent is quite a bit when you consider tax and all other fees. I would be interested in having one of these but because of the 2% fee I'm going to hold off for now. The cost in the long run isn't efficient for me and outweighs the convenience of the card.

even with 2% fee our BTC/USD rate is far better than rate offered on many bitcoin exchanges, so I would recommend just try it

It depends on the amount of cash you are trying to withdraw because it can be a lot less. I can sell $2,000 in btc on the forum and have it in my bank account ready to spend within a day though so even though it's a good idea, I have more efficient ways to convert my btc right now. How were you able to partner with Visa? Was it a long process? What is your agreement with them? I think including your agreement with Vids would make people feel more comfortable with using your card as it can back up your legitimacy since you're account is pretty new.

What do you mean like eBay? Like an online store? I'm confused, sorry.

I'm talking about the general upgrade that ebay has gone through and a lot of other sites. It would be nice to have a couple of their market features too. eBay upgraded there site awhile back from the lay out they have been using since they first came out. Im talking about things like a thread manager, a place where you could go to see all your threads and click and edit them without going to the actual thread and message folders where you can move certain messages into folders you make.
347  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 🌟 TRADE Your Physical Cryptos HERE 🌟 on: March 11, 2015, 07:52:57 PM
I think it's be appropriate so the seller isn't getting scammed out of their money and they have a ballpark estimate of what the coin is worth and they can use that base price as a guideline whether they want to pay higher or lower for it. It's really easy to just claim a price on a coin or collectible and someone will pay or sell at that price because they are misinformed of the actual item and the seller or buyer knows that and takes advantage of them.

Anyone who purchases a collectible item without knowing its value is a fool.

Price guides + becketts are the reason people are informed of the price of collectibles. They arent only used for trading guidance either but a number of other things. Without price guides the exact situation would happen as it is here where people are confused on the price of something and then they get ripped off. It's hard to put prices on crypto coins because of the limited market for them but there is a ball park estimate of what each coin is worth.

Is there a thread where people can ask for price checks of physical crypto coins or a place that has the average prices listed? I'd like to see one as it'd make it easier for people to agree on a price. Most crypto coins don't have a large enough market to determine the exact value of them.

Agreed. There are so many times where someone has a coin on offer and I have no clue what to bid.

I've tried to get people to agree on a stable valuation for the different coins, but honestly it's not realistic. It's not right to control prices like that. It's all about what a buyer and a seller agree upon. Personally I believe a 2-3x valuation is appropriate for a loaded Casascius coin in mint condition. You're paying 1x for the face value of the coin and 1-2x for the numismatic value that is "Casascius".

There is some information you can use to help you understand what to bid, based on the size of the mintage (some coins have lower mint numbers and therefore are more rare). You also want to consider the condition of the coin.

This is the most concise source I've used: http://www.spotcoins.com/bitcoin/casascius

Douglus, I'm having trouble finding post where you explained how your odds increased slightly if you bet to increase your money 3 times at 33% instead of just splitting it in half and betting at 50%. I forgot if this was proven to be true or not.

I could definitely help you out with this. Send me a message with the details (What class the paper is for, rough draft or final). If I have some spare time I'l be happy to do this for free.

Please post a picture if you have the ring in your possession. Are you just buying it from the site and shipping it directly to the person. If so, what is the method of payment? Lately there's been a number of people posting offering direct purchases from sites which the purchasing method is a stolen credit card.
355  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: coinbase screws the little guy on: March 10, 2015, 07:17:41 PM
Could you post the emails you have exchanged back and forth with Coinbase? Doing this might give people a better idea of what the situation is like and you'll get better advice. When MTGox was around they once disabled my account from being verified in the usual way because I had two different physical addresses and I had quite a bit of BTC on their site. Once they had a better idea of my situation they were able to lift my limits and I withdrew my Bitcoin. It took a couple months but it was finally accomplished. Hopefully Coinbase isn't going down the same route, they will regret it later on if they start to abuse their customers.
356  Economy / Economics / Re: A noob question. on: March 10, 2015, 07:07:21 PM
Did we see much price increase correlated to the last halving? I don't think so. But perhaps that rate (from 50 to 25) still wasn't enough to cause a shortage of supply over demand.

Well if the price didn't increase, I assume that there is not enough demand to account with the then reduced supply. This statement is based on what I've learned so far from this thread. Smiley

The massive rise and falls in the price of Bitcoin can have a lot to do with large businesses and whales hording Bitcoin and then dropping it all at once for a massive profit. This is plausible and would affect the market in such a way that even if Bitcoin supply were to decrease the demand would stay relatively the same because it is based on an artificial market where the demand is already much less than that of which Bitcoin is being produced. Bitcoin popularity has been rising gradually and it wouldn't make sense for their to be a large jump in price after halving soley because of the "new" demand. I would think that the majority of Bitcoin in circulation right now have already been around for quite awhile.

What payment methods are you taking. Just BTC? I'll offer $110 in BTC.

I hadn't planned on accepting others than btc but what methods are you wanting to pay in? The offer is too low for me though. It's pretty much the same as the 100 Euro offer which is around £70. Don't really want to let it go for anything lower than £100.

I didn't have an exact method in mind I just thought I'd ask in case I have it available. Get back to me if you aren't able to sell it.

If you pay WU fee then I can sell @Bitstamp.

Sorry I don't pay any of the fees involved in the trade.

Shoot me a message if you still need to get rid of the .1 BTC. I will buy it at Bitstamp's current rate.

I personally enjoy the forum lay out right now, but it would be nice to have a change in scenery. If you look at sites like eBay it would be nice to have some of those features. I'm not surprised that it's going to cost $1.5M for the forum software. In this day and age your online portfolio is as important as the business you conduct off the internet. Target now gets 1/3 of their profits each year from their website. Imagine what that number was like 10 years ago.
