I guess it's imaginable that there are forces against decentralization, and they would create moles and such to disrupt companies that are gaining on it.

Everyone should read post one of this announcement thread and then read the post I made a few back about the code Greg posted at github.  It's pretty inspiring stuff and if Greg is behind at least this blueprint, he shouldn't be demonized.  He obviously felt threatened by something, and the timeline was all written pushed out over a year.  What I can't understand is all this commotion so soon, except  it seems like a good check to get out of theory and into practice.  What are those screen shots of in the first post on this thread?  If that is a functional system then more people should be on it now.

Wonder if it's true like in other crime that the criminals have to brag eventually about what they did.

Anyone know why I might be getting lines with [33's in them and rarely get "accepteds"?  I'm mining with CPU and haven't mined for about 3 weeks now.  Is this because the difficulty went up?

You mean you haven't had the payout from the last block that was found?

According to someone close to Synereo, they received 300 (3000? forget exactly now) responses to this but didn't reply to any of them.

Quote:
Project 11 Award

Synereo is all about self-determination, self-empowerment and self-organising. The proposers are considered as a group of people that want to do something on the platform. Compared to the investors in Synereo (BTTF + AMP) these people are the workers. Those who want to create with Synereo a lively network. I hope that the NFX-program and the BTTF are soon finished and that we can go back to work. I would like to see that we create with Project 11 more attention than the financial and traditional marketing stuff.

Define curator roles
Evaluate proposals (bounty for each review?) The work has to be calculated in hours and we have to propose an hour rate. For example $50 per hour. Then we create a spreadsheet where everybody fills out his hours + maybe a description of the work done
Volunteer as primary or secondary business or tech advisor to proposals you are interested in to assist them in making the project successful. (bounty according to expected level of participation?)
Monitor support channel and help answer questions or refer to right people (gitter?)
Verify and evaluate reported progress.

I think they're just being ignored and people aren't really expecting them.  But it's a good point, better to have a need for something than
a relatively empty subheading.

There are a lot of issues, like for instance the current Synereo situation.  Also, it would be nice to talk about the technology of all the different altcoins in one place.  A thread in the current discussion area may be like a type of shell shock, with no one wanting to look like the odd man out in wanting to discuss.  I don't mind hearing my voice echo, so I will try some soon.
3428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: December 05, 2016, 09:54:40 PM
Greg just posted a link to this in Slack:

Dear All,

i have done everything in my power to keep the community apprised of all the events to date. It has been a matter of public record that i have put forward a counter proposal to the original proposal. Dor was made aware of this fact on video in front of the community.

Prior to making the counter proposal to Dor, it was publicly reviewed alongside Dor’s original proposal, (see here and here); in particular to illustrate exactly why Dor’s proposal was rejected, and to make clear what a reasonable proposal looks like in order to make good on promises to investors. As a demonstration of good faith, i offered several negotiating points, based upon Dor’s publicly stated concerns, where i was clear i would yield while remaining consistent with existing company plans and promises to investors. Most importantly, i have always been available. The community has overwhelming evidence that i was online constantly, answering investor questions, providing context, information and data surrounding the negotiations and generally attending the process. At the suggestion of many community members, i reached out to Dor via email and Skype. Dor’s unavailability and lack of response was clear to all. This has been a part of a long string of behaviors, including deferring and delaying the reconstruction of a board to provide proper oversight for the company which has resulted in this deadlock in the first place, and constitutes non-performance in his role as CEO.

My reasons for going and remaining public are related to my obligations to the company, shareholders and investors. Dor’s conduct has continued to shore up my growing worries and concerns that Dor had been luring me into making the token sale with him, using my good name, my work, and the architecture documents that comprised the basis of the bulk of investment in the recent sale, but without any actual intent to follow through on the specific promises he made to investors, or promises he made to me regarding fixing the organizational problems with the company. It is my obligation as one of the largest holders of equity in the company and AMPs to make everyone aware of this. The evidence has been mounting that Dor conducted the sale in without any intent to follow the plan we outlined in detail for investors, fooling me and every other stakeholder and investor.

In good faith and sincerest wish for all the stakeholders and investors, i held out every hope that he would negotiate productively and provide a reasonable compromise indicating that he did have the intent to follow through. But, because of the other worries and concerns about the organizational issues he left unresolved and their connection to ongoing negotiations with investors, his recent decisions and announcements have left me little room for interpretation of his intentions all along. As a result, i must support the investors who have asked for a refund of their money. With investors made whole, i feel certain that we can create a path forward that will realize the vision that has people so excited about RChain and the attention economy.

Best wishes,

—greg

Note:  Most people have been taking Dor's side but there is a possibility a project like this can't be coded without additional workers,
and if Dor's isn't willing to pour some money into that now, then Greg may feel this kind of workload is too much to ask for from such
a small team.

There is a problem as Anonymint has stated in staying in high level language and not discussing libraries and code limitations.  Stating
the problem is only one part of programming, but man hours and the like need to be discussed in stating the solution.

3429  Other / Meta / There doesn't seem to be an Altcoin Technical Subheading on: December 05, 2016, 06:14:22 PM
I've noticed that often in the Altcoin discussion here there isn't a lot of technical discussions of the coins, which is very important.
Maybe we need another subdivision?

Bitcoin Section has "Development & Technical Discussion."

Same senseless FUD you see on every coin's channel.  People just want to kill all coins midstream because they don't do anything themselves.

by the way

where do you get the price to estimate the coins value in BTC?

Few different sites depending on the coin - coinmarketcap, exchanges.

We have a better idea for a pricing system that we will introduce in the next 2-3 weeks.  Expect it to be much more accurate.

Ok Mr. Bean. What happens when u decide u have more stake from strangers' shares than middle exchange earns throughout a year, and after realizing this u run away. What the heck.

I'm sorry - I don't understand what you are trying to ask. Feel free to try and re-phrase.

Sounds like he's trying to say how do we do due diligence.  What have you done before this?  Is there a board behind this site?   A corporation?

I think there are people around, possibly reading this thread, that are from a programming background and can tell if Greg's code has possibility of working in the near future.  That's one thing that hasn't come up much in these threads, and I've been following them all, including on slack.  From what links Greg has posted, it seems Synereo employees are the ones commenting on Github and there are hardly any comments from a brief look.  Code has to be doing something and it shows that by functions interacting with user or other events.  You can't write functional code in a shorthand of about 300 lines.  It should have robust comments that other programmers can read, not math gurus.   I have been looking at links but I'm not seeing this in open source, and I created a thread here to discuss these things and no one is currently posting to it.  It should obviously be an interesting part of modern blockchain science.

There is an aspect of dependencies so always code looks shorter than it actually is, but comments would inform people of other programming background more about that.

I just created another thread here with this opening post:

Synereo, RChain, Ethereum

"Thought it would be good to get another thread on this current situation with Synereo, who are having some disputes about the nature of their technology and it's readiness.  The problem seems to be that RChain is currently not functional.  Not sure if this is rushing the timeline, or even why something like Ethereum would not work.  What would Rchain have that Ethereum does not?"

Thought it would be good to get another thread on this current situation with Synereo, who are having some disputes about the nature of their technology and its readiness.  The problem seems to be that RChain is currently not usable.  Not sure if this is rushing the timeline, or even why something like Ethereum would not work.  What would Rchain have that Ethereum does not?

I invite everyone here to join us on slack.synereo.com to follow progress more closely.

May also help tip the balance towards sanity and away from the true believers.

I'm there but the chat that is most live I don't think is a place for outsiders to ask questions or make helpful suggestions.
- Yes, it's too noisy for me as well.

Can't existing languages just create new objects and functions to do what you need to do?

It's not so much a new language as just a different logic. The promise is that formal semantics make the programs much less buggy and allow more rigorous approaches for verification.
To my understanding this is similar to Hoon, page 16: http://media.urbit.org/whitepaper.pdf (which could incidentally be appropriated).

Different logic implies different operators hence a different compiler to create the applications.  Time tested languages have a history of
working.  Something with a different logic seems to put things at step one, or at least back a few steps.

There are a lot of initiatives trying to do something similar.  Ethereum seems like the most similar technology.  I wonder how the languages/technologies compare to what LBRY are trying to do, or many others.   Could it be possible that a synergy would work?  Do groups really know what the other are doing, and what in the purpose of science, are inventions that could be open source used by others?

Was wondering, I haven't researched these new programming languages being mentioned as the key to Synereo's success, but they
raise a question immediately, especially if they are still being developed.

Can one really trust a new language to create working solutions when that language itself has never produced a real world product before?

One suggestion about the site.  When you are looking at

https://poswallet.com/coinDetails.php

You can't see what the columns are when you scroll down.

It would be great to have a web control that would allow you to see:

Name

Version
Protocol
Wallet
Conn
Last Block
Vest Time
Deposit Fee
Status

across the board.
