3521  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [30+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL on: November 14, 2016, 11:46:44 PM
Sorry if this was asked before but when a thread has 1049 pages, doing your homework can be a bit tiresome.  I even googled it and didn't find it.

How long does it take for one's account to be registering in the CKPool?   My Kano.is account is also just about 2.5 hours old now.

I did everything that I understood it said, like creating a worker for each machine but I didn't seem to be getting any readings on pool interface, just in the text box area it said I was mining and getting shares and my hashrate.

I am pointing my antminers to http://stratum.kano.is:3333, using btc addresses with _worker1, _worker2  I didn't register anything else on the pool interface, usual sign-up log in procedures.

There appears to be an issue with the iphone application at the moment: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1344360.msg16877188#msg16877188

Sorry, I was reusing a post on the monitor thread.  This is just about first time user hookup in an Antminer s3....it seems to be registering but not with the website interface and not with other apps like the CKPool Monitor.  I've edited it to make it more appropriate.
3522  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CKPool Monitor - hashrates, workers, rewards and get notifications for CKPool on: November 14, 2016, 11:14:16 PM
I'm assuming you have S3's or similar, your settings should look like:

pool 1:                stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333
pool 1 worker:      brainstormer.S3x
pool 1 password:   x

Thanks.  In the field for URL I usually have had better luck so far just with a format like:
http://port80.mining.eligius.st   Wasn't able to connect there using the syntax of
stratum+tcp://domain:3333

The account is registered, things should start showing up with 15 minutes or so.

I checked and you are not mining at CKPool right now, so it won't be showing you anything.
Based on what I'm seeing, my guess would be that you have your settings wrong and you are not mining on CKPool.

Thanks, I did everything that I understood it said, like creating two workers for each machine but I didn't seem to be
getting any readings on its interface, just in the text box area it said I was mining and getting shares.  Going to figure
this one out later tonight.

3526  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Good pools that let you keep some of your block reward? on: November 14, 2016, 06:19:41 PM
The bonuses offered by bravo-mining are nice and the idea of getting the tx fees on mmpool sounds good, but with what you are running for gear, it is very unlikely that you will find a block and get those rewards. You will find a more consistent payout at kano.is, because the pool it larger and finds blocks more often.
With only a gridseed orb, he'd be squarely in the "dust" category when mining on kano's pool.  On a small pool like mine or mmpool, because we go for longer periods of time between blocks, his balance would likely be large enough to not be considered dust.

But with the Antminer S3, it would do better at Kano's pool?  I like the idea of diversifying and it seems maybe that's a good idea sometimes when using pools.  I'll probably point the orb at solo.ckpool.
Use the orb as a lottery ticket... not a bad idea.  I have 5 Antminer U2 sticks that I have playing the lottery Smiley.

The S3 expects to earn 0.000428BTC per day currently.  Since kano's pool expects to find about 3 blocks a day, that means you'd expect to earn about 0.00014267BTC per block.  Not dust, but not very much over the threshold, either (anything 10,000 or under is dust).

Thanks.  This post clarified it more but only after I had some experience.  Hopefully anyone who is a noob might learn something from this thread besides myself.  It's almost like with a small pool you have the next step up from solo mining, because it might be 3 months or more before someone finds a block, and hence the time for you to get paid.  And I guess really small pools that only distribute earnings into payouts after a block is found by the pool will take much longer than that.
3527  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Good pools that let you keep some of your block reward? on: November 14, 2016, 05:42:28 PM
There was something not clarified in this thread.  mmpool says:

Part of the reward is paid out as Pay Per Share (PPS). This amount is available for withdrawal immediately. The rest is paid out using the Double Geometric Method (DGM) and this is paid out when a block is found. This depends on pool hash rate.

So, I've been mining here (various combos of S1, S3, and lesser) and I have 0.00505145 in DGM and 0.0 in PPS.

It's taken a good amount of time and was expecting the payout because I hit the minimum amount listed (on front page it doesn't clarify
the DGM/PSS under payout).

Someone I know told me two weeks ago I should be with a bigger pool like Eligius, since the payout would be faster.  They have a .05 BTC threshold so thought that was strange that he said that.   But I can see this seems to be the case.
3528  Other / Meta / Re: Are we allowed to give Bounties for technical help? on: November 14, 2016, 01:01:44 AM
Not sure about this.  Not getting an answer I'm looking for so I offered a bounty.  Is that ok?

What help do you require?

Try posting it here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=4.0

achow101 is the moderator in that section, he's one of the most knowledgable guys here, you won't have to pay a bounty even if he is able to help.

Thanks.  It was setting up a second antminer that wasn't reading root/root after reset.  I got help immediately after posting here and he didn't even accept the bounty reward I had posted in the thread.  I'll close this thread.

3530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Pascal Coin: P2P cryptocurrency without need of historical operations on: November 13, 2016, 07:29:02 PM
No offense, but I won't be selling any of my coins. Not until we get on a decent exchange. The only one's I like are bittrex and polo. I may try to tweet Ritchie and see if they will consider adding Pascal. Most major exchanges want $5,000 or more to list coins, but Pascal is not a funded project so it will be harder for us to get listed.

Due to the level of development it should get added naturally.

I hope will be listed, but for "non technicals" you must understand that the "accounts concept" introduced by PascalCoin is different than addresses concept of Bitcoin that can be generated for everybody. In PascalCoin if you don't have an account, you cannot "generate" your own account.

So, I think, exchanges will need to develop a buy acounts system or something similar prior to list PascalCoin...

So, there will be 2 things to trade:
- Pascal Account
- Pascal Coin

I think it's brilliant they have do this. What would be really good is a pascal market for accounts. However this is extremely different than a typical market it is much more like a vanity market with private sales.

This can just be done on eBay, personal websites via paypal, etc.

I think what coins like this need are not so much new miners but the bagholders, whales, and wanna-be-coin-faux-millionaires to release their holdings to a marketplace so they can distribute the economy of the coins.  Otherwise, human jealousy just wants to see you fail.
err?
You can practically buy 20% of all  dgb in circulation off Poloniex market now without breaking 200 satoshi. There has never been a better opportunity to move in on this coin, IMO.

Thanks.  I am new to trading and only traded zCash for BTC so far.  I did just buy 1000 DGB but it was .00044000

Coins in the 0-100 satoshi on any currency are considered cheap... maybe not good but still cheap. Im not sure what your comment on human jealousy means. The idea of purchasing an asset is to later use and make profit so if you do that then you basically invalidate your statement as you yourself have become what you dislike.

Jumbley was right though. From past experience dgb has gone from 35-60 sat so its in the medium range on price at present. The jumps to 1000 sat and 400 sat were pump group efforts to make money.

If you look at this coin compared to some others, it doesn't seem to have the very high levels and then long term at very small levels.  The levels are wide but not that wide.  I don't know what the ROI is to the current marketcap.

I meant jealousy meaning instead of people wanting to see the still remaining halfway decent coins grow, and especially SHA256 ones, they would just as soon not donate time, kind of an unconscious jealousy that if they don't win out, the other guy doesn't either.   People should utilize the old Antminers for this coin.

3532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed 5-Chip USB, Blade & Black Miner Support/Tuning on: November 13, 2016, 03:46:35 AM
I have a problem where I am mining a scrypt coin and then restart to mine a SHA256 coin and doesn't seem to enter SHA256 mode and speed.  I even unplugged both cords for about 30 seconds and this wouldn't restart it.  Anyone have information on this?
3533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: CHESSCOIN - 32% POS - COIN FOR CHESS COMMUNITY on: November 13, 2016, 01:48:08 AM
I want to give away some BTC, XMR, support chess and encourage people to move away from PayPal.

Help me identify popular chess channels on  YouTube, Twitch, etc willing to accept donations in Monero and Bitcoin. Any channel that adds a donation address will receive a tip.  I will be much more generous if they accept Monero (but will also support Bitcoin) because of my interest in privacy. The most generous tips will be received by popular chess channels that talk about Monero in a video.

https://twitter.com/ChessBTC/status/797598651698843648

To be clear I support Chess and cryptocurrency but am not and have never been a supporter of ChessCoin. If you read my post history you will understand why.

OK, but I think what is first for those who understand how things are done in the world is pay an agent or evangelist to contact and tutor existing chess channels on what you want to do, and how to do it.  Someone needs to walk them through it, and I gather you might be too busy to do that.  So, offer someone a bounty for this position, and since I recommended it, I will take it up if you're interested.  I like the game of chess and have been wanting to get back into it.

I will make time to explain Monero or Bitcoin to any chess player that expresses an interest. I personally am not in favor of paying bounties to others for something I am doing for free. However please share any ideas you have to promote crypto adoption within the chess world here or here so that we don't dont get off topic in this thread.

OK, we'll see what gets done.

What is the best pool for mining this with an Sha256 ASIC?

I think this coin could double its community if you had a evangelist to try to get people to mine it with their old ASICS.

How about insuring Crypto exchanges like Poloniex, like the way banks are insured against default.  Do you think an insurance agency would take on something like that?  Maybe BTC only.

3540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is CPU mining bad for my processor? on: November 11, 2016, 02:00:10 PM
yes, if you use laptops.

for desktop it depends on cooling and psu, I have PSU-MB 12V 4 pin connector burned because of power hungry CPU and cheap PSU and a bad contact.

I would not CPU mine on laptops with even cooling at under 70 degrees.  Maybe if you have an old one you can leave on that is unusable for anything else, but then a poor person could use it for something like writing, internet and music files.   It would probably burn out quickly mining CPU, but it could also be used to run a USB ASIC.
