Also im Grunde eine zentrale Währungsvariante bei der lediglich jede Einheit mit Ihrer Seriennummer jedem Nutzer zugeordnet werden kann. Dazu braucht es keine Blockchain sondern lediglich eine einfache Datenbank.
ne, eben nicht, wie ich's verstanden habe: Im System sind die Empfänger für jeden Zahlungsvorgang bekannt, genauso wie bestimmte Details über den Zweck der Transaktion (aber nicht die Identität des Kunden). Dadurch ermöglicht Taler es Regierungen, sowohl Firmen als auch Privatpersonen auf Basis ihres Einkommens zu besteuern und erschwert gleichzeitig noch Steuervermeidungen sowie den Schwarzmarkthandel.
Also: Empfänger systematisch bekannt (also steuerbar was EkSt, MwSt angeht), aber: Absender der allgemeinheit (dem Staat) unbekannt, bzw. nur dem Empfänger bekannt. Das könnte einigen Leuten gefallen und anderen wieder egal sein. Ich find's glaub sch...sse, bzw. bin mir nicht sicher ob das überhaupt funktioniert. Hab da sehr viele Fragezeichen. viele warten auf den bitcoin killer und jeder halbwegs aussichtsreiche kandidat wird gepusht werden. könnte mir vorstellen, dass der erste ansatz eine "eigene" blockchain war (allein schon wegen des buzzwords) und jetzt, wo "sie" dahintersteigen, dass private blockchains sinnlos sein könnten, wird es auf andere arten versucht. das internet wird monetarisiert werden. meines erachtens am besten via bitcoin. aber ein naturgesetz ist das nicht. |

I am holding too, but for me, I'm in a pretty bad financial situation right now, there might come a time in the very near future where I would have to sell all my bitcoins, however little I may have.
that sucks dude  hopefully you can solve your problems. personally i would rather sell my car before i sell my Coins  after i invested in btc between the bubbles of 2013 there came summer vacation. i did not have enough funds for the big family camping adventure. i could have sold back btc but hell no... i ended up selling two seats of our car instead  |

Mit Bitcoin o.ä. als dominante Währung haben aber Banken und andere Finanzinstitute keine so grossen Hebel mehr (da sie nicht mehr Geld schöpfen können). Die haben ja z.Zt. effektiv die zehnfache Verzinsung dessen, was man am Markt bekommt.
Die Mindestreserve wurde von 2% auf 1% gesenkt, damit haben die den Faktor 100! d.h. wenn mehr als einer von hundert gleichzeitig "sein" geld auf der bank abheben möchte, gibt´s bankfeiertage ? wie die zeiten sich ändern. hunderte von jahren war die frage, ob die institution, die das papiergeld herausgegeben hat auch tatsächlich genug gold als gegenwert in den tresoren hatte. und jetzt ist nicht mal genug papier(geld) da um die guthaben auszuzahlen. als es 2008 fast soweit war hat die merkel ja auch gesagt: "Wir sagen den Sparerinnen und Sparern, dass ihre Einlagen sicher sind. Auch dafür steht die Bundesregierung." |

And thinking you can have both is ATH delusions.
I don't need to have both at the same time. Alternatingly is fine with me. +1 it depends on internet cash money for how many users(?). if a billion people decide to use it, price has to go to the moon. if it stays an investment commodity for a few 100k speculators, price may go to the moon. |

If Bitcoin survives this it will come out way stronger, there is however also a significant chance that block size issue will turn Bitcoin into a failed experiment.

Right. This isn't an existential threat (yet), but it does show just how long core devs have been squabbling and their inability to reach their beloved consensus. I don't know the players or the code well enough to know who wants to scale slower and who is merely using this issue to obstruct any improvement, but the status quo clearly will not do. I suspect Core devs have until the end of the year at the latest to release their counterproposal until the major players defect and go to XT. If the price continues to tank, they'll have far less than that. ironically one of bitcoins strengths - that it can be viewed in so many different ways (currency, store of value, payment system, digital gold, speculation vehicle, etc., etc.,) turns out to be something that makes consensus upon devs, users, start-ups, etc. difficult. bitcoins versatility boosts the fantasy of people with a wide range of different agendas. scalability and versatility seem to get into conflict. poor devs... |

Einschätzen kann ich es auch nicht, aber allein die Tatsache das Mike so gut wie keine Commits beigetragen hat und die welche er beigetragen hat meist als fehlerhaft revidiert wurden zeigt meines Erachtens schon recht deutlich das diesen Weg einzuschlagen nicht der richtige sein wird. Ein Kompromiss der Core-Entwickler dürfte besser sein.
Man muss sich ja auch im klaren sein, Maxwell, Todd etc werden das Projekt eventuell verlassen sollte die Fork erfolgreich sein. Und dann? Dann sitzen wir da mit einem Pseudo-Developer und einem einzelnen Core-Dev. Beide ohne "skin in the game" da sie laut eigenen Angaben schon länger ihre BTC in Aktien getauscht haben.

Z.B. indem der umstrittene IP-Blacklist-Mechanismus erstmal hinten angestellt wird. Bitcoin allready has a fee structure to deal with spam, and the wallets are implementing dynamic fees as we speak. A higher capacity system will be a lot more expensive to spam. If you think 7 tps is enough for the future of bitcoin, why don't you just say so?
An increase of TPS is already being discussed by core-devs, and they are trying to find the optimal way to implement it. With a very large percentage of BTC txs being dust, they have plenty of time to figure it out. What we don't have the luxury to do, is to start rogue forks that create friction in the dev community. But then again, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. As for spam, fees and block sizes: Altcoin Monero has a dynamic sized block. Let's say that, dynamically, the size can enlarge significantly. When it was spam-attacked last year (hint: the bloat created by anonymous coins is multiple size that of bitcoin), do you think people were like "oh, it's ok we have big blocks and we are ok"? No. They had to quickly implement high fees to stop the attack as it would bloat it to unusable levels. It was the fees that stopped the attack, not the self-adapting increasing blocksize. LTC also used a patch, in the past, to prevent some spam techniques that were used against it. BTC might need to integrate it too. The core devs have discussed this topic for years. Hopefully, XT will push them to action. If not, we will just opt them out. A higher capacity system will be a lot more expensive to spam. I can't help you, if you don't understand this. Who is we? Cause the more I look the more I can't find any significant support for XT from anyone that actually matters in the ecosystem.
