3561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Blissz firmware (21/11 update available!) on: November 22, 2017, 02:38:06 PM
First of all, thank you Blissz for the work. My first message here at bitcointalk, cheers!!!

Is that normal having a hashrate of one board disappearing and coming back all the time?

The power usage still same when it happens but as I am mining in nicehash and when I see there is a decrease in hash rate also on their dashboard, what can it be? I am running my D3 at about 9500Gh/s(only two chains) as I am using a pc PSU while they ship APW3++.

From what I was told by a buddy (maxumark) you just have to set the speed down to where it is stable...took him 2 weeks of mucking about with it

thus my 1st batch I get a 'fairly' regular 16gh with no errors

remember the orig batch was supposed to be 15gh (they overclocked it and said 17.2gh)

the batches after were then supposed to be 17.5gh (they overclocked it to 19.2gh)

so I have one 2nd batch doing about 19 and 1 1st batch doing 16 for 35gh or about what they were supposed to do in the first place ..stable ...for a total of 35gh

maybe this new firmware bitmain released helps ...not up yet on my stuff

also they get about 2100 watts at the wall combined not 1900 watts as bitmain states

so it goes
3562  Economy / Economics / Re: How IRS keeps me brave and HODL'ing BTC/ALTS(despite fears) Whatever works... on: November 22, 2017, 02:31:44 PM

Looked at the poll....

the 1 vote for 'will hold all BTC on usb till I die"

and the

1 vote for 'sold too many already'

are both so SAD........

(although I must say ...being boring, not having a life, has allowed me to accumulate BTC...then again....being boring...am like the clueless old retired farmer

who could sell his farm for millions (not me talking about the farmer) and does not do so..because he has no idea how not to be boring)

sheesh....sell my crypto

1) girls would like me for all the wrong reasons...(I forget why, too old, but they are useful for something or other, been so long I forget)

2) travel to exotic places..eat the food get sick and die (or robbed and die, or plane crash and die, get an illness and die,)

3) Buy lots of stuff that will go on an estate sale when I pass for pennies on the dollar paid (wait.... my apple ii collection!) ...lame

4) would be required to be 'social' and 'polite' and hang around 'people' and improve 'dining skills' ..have to be a wine snob ..all sounds like a lot of work

Naw, best just to sit on the BTC and treat it yet as 'unicorn/magical/fairydust/funny money' and not consider it 'real' only 'paper profits'

It worked well last year when BTC in the fall of 2016 was $475 usd and now it is barely winter of 2017 and it is $8.2k each

wtf

IF it goes parabolic it could be 24k by march of 2018..not likely...but odds imho are the same as BTC dropping to 2k in that time frame

oh well, this post is giving uncomfortable thoughts...especially about girls liking me for all the wrong reasons...supposedly the more BTC you have

the more attractive you get ..go figure...I just wish I could remember that far back on what they are good for...?? nope, got nothing

3564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Blissz firmware (21/11 update available!) on: November 22, 2017, 05:32:59 AM
Is possible to install the L3+ firmware on D3?

I had this same question in my head for the first 21 pages of this forrum.
reading thru the other pages now, but had to comment on this

Guys i haven't seen it commented on yet , but everyone should know -
THE VAST MAJORITY OF THESE ARE STILL TO REACH THEIR BUYERS.
* from the production numbers i heard, there's approx 18,000 of these for november batch & 21,000 Dec Batch + still selling at times

As a community how can we collectively spread this hashing and work together to create a solid result for everyone.
We have 30 of these, and 25 A5's coming from Inno in the next 12-20 days
** We would be happy to offer financial assistance to a team that wants to work on developing Some Additional Progress

Thanks for the original Blitzsss Poster for his efforts so far.
I look forward to additional information, and details on how we can help ( No Programming or Electrical Engineering Knowledge Here )

We need to pump the Helium x11 coin when it comes out as the greatest coin ever

Typical Shitmain strategy, and their dogs here barking...

If they confessed they made very big mistake and everybody who bought d3 is dissatisfied , they should give real solutions, not giving gift for them selves.
I have bought many d3 and i am not going to buy such scammer product so they can put those ticket in their supporter's asses.

Don't know why but I think you are reffering to my post  Grin
Myself wanted to buy them also (but luckily to me was never fast enough). After few sold batches I did some gestimations and result was pretty close to what the current status is.

I'm sick of people like you blaiming others from your own poor decision.

Poor decision ? yes BITMAIN is poor decision, and you are so genius could you please share with us how did you predicted at july ? Just say you were luck bastard, anyway if you were right , bitmain would not take such decision  about d3 buyers. They know what they did. Why nobody did not speaking about L3? all l3 buyers made good decision and same people made bad decision at d3 ? You are an idiot, this is not related with your stupid calculations, those calculation everybody can do after august .

No need to use abusive language (i hope).
I'm not saying I was 100% sure. Just had very stong feeling (based on all the batches sold, growing difficulty and fact I do not believe much in DASH). Last time I attempted to buy them was in mid August (I remember the BTC shoot that time). And as you can see I did wrote "luckily".

I had the same feeling. L3’s were never offered on USA site. Got thru eastshore. They
Told us on price hike LTC of $4.15 to $20 on up, bitmain literally took eastshore paid for
L3’s off their truck that they paid for to put back in bitmain datahalls. 8 of them mine. 24 m
or so a buddies. Eastshore was beyond pissed and are legit and did refund. Bitmain further
later on kept batches of units for supposed firmware problem for 6 weeks. Was to try to stop seg witness
on ltc. They settled on ltc.equip arrived with Jan firmware. Was all lies.

As ONLY equip mfg at that time, I needed equip deductions badly at 50
buck ltc. As the only and still is game in town.

BCH was made w/o sea witness to continue to use asic boost for 15% or
more hash at data halls.

So Bitmain as a monopoly competing against their equip customers
Imho goes way beyond us buying products. They own the asic
highway.

I fully expect them to go private, like knc or bitfury, because of increased
Scrutiny for unfair practices in 2018. Bigger money 💰 investors
Less scrutiny bigger bucks.

Bitmain is not a fair player in a supposed free market. But only game
In town.  The asic company store So to speak

3) Hot Voodoo Priestess

What did they meant by appropriate customer?

Likely original purchaser and also likely only customers who got MINERS not just PSU's and

USB hubs...

3569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: November 21, 2017, 08:58:37 AM
the coupons either need to be stackable or worth at leat $500 per d3

yet another slap in the face

yeah....forgot about that 'slime angle' likely they are only worth $150 off max (1 coupon, 1 miner unit only)

(will re-read blurb on this ..but bet it is how it works)

You can only use 1 coupon per product.
So no I cannot get a free S9.  If I wanted to use all of my 10 coupons I would have to buy 10 S9's !!
OMG, is it really so? Shocked  Why you can't combine them ?

yep..Bitmain is just playing 'mind games' with us IMHO. They got a mess of complaints....felt they had to do something, for meager PR reasons,

so they did this....hell.....it is more or less deliberate, in my view, just to put us 'customers' from their monopoly..in our place...

Also, look over the products you are getting from Bitmain....are they really, really NEW...I've heard reports of mis-matching fans that look

like replacement fans, differing labels from the supposed same batch, etc

My friend's view on bitcointalk, is that they are planning to get their mining OUT of China...esp with the hydroelectric rate increase that is being

touted by various provinces...and/of course, the nervousness about wtf China might do with bitcoin and other cryptos...Bitmain has already announced

mining halls in USA. So with that in mind are you gonna MOVE your equip from China overseas, or simply sell your stock from your current data halls,

and fill your data halls overseas with new equipment, simply for logistic reasons.....

anyway, look at your L3+ stuff.....if it doesn't look spanking new, it likely is not....

Also, if the above is the case, expect a hell of a lot more of Bitmain Toasters to hit the market.....no lag on equipment under the above scenario

like sh*t through a goose...especially if LTC and scrypt pow coins rise in price in relation to BTC and BCH.

Mine like hell boys and girls, but I myself am holding out for equip after the Chinese New Year and  just a HODLING LTC as much as possible as long

as my ROI'd miners hang together

Anyway, my view (I could be biased because when LTC went from 4.15 to 20 bucks and up, www.eastshore.xyz literally said they yanked
my 8 miners off eastshore's truck at the distribution house and took the stuff back in to use on their Bitmain data hall....and Eastshore had to give me and my partner
credit...(took them a month but they paid all the BTC back...eastshore that is) boy, was eastshore beyond pissed off ..if nothing else I can vouch for them, not that
they feel all that comfortable ordering in mass from Bitmain anymore...from what I can tell from their website since...

So if Bitmain can do crap like that to tried to use such equp and stop seg witness for LTC (which they eventually agreed to) they damn well can be slipping out used stuff,
IMHO, so watch for it

(bitmain: evil is not pretty, but who cares.....if you have all the power) (tm bitmain)

3570  Economy / Economics / Re: How IRS keeps me brave and HODL'ing BTC/ALTS(despite fears) Whatever works... on: November 21, 2017, 07:17:57 AM
Again..if you are running your crypto as a home biz like me in USA

do the following

1) do a private solo 401k for the biz....put crypto in that ...same tax benefit as equip with IRS
so fill that bucket up first 24k to 40k I think ..something like that..I have folk that are using
and I plan to use below

    https://www.checkbookira.com/

2) don't use crypto of any flavor to buy future miners....if BTC is pumping and all other Alts go
along (like LTC) it would be silly, sit on your crypto take out a loan at the bank...then if for
some reason things go pear-shaped you can always sell crypto to pay off bank...but if the crypto
pumps and mining works ...better to pay back fiat then lose the gains if you would have kept
your crypto of choice on this pump of BTC and related Alts.

3) HODL as much as you can after electric and expenses.....this ride could end soon and btc could
go down in price or sideways and all other alt coins would also follow...but remember DIFFICULTY
of any miner of any flavor will continue to go up 3 months due to sh*t in the pipeline...thus be
    modest/prudent on equip buys

4) if there is a BTC and other crypto pump you probably  are better off buying equip in 2018 then
use the equip deduction this year...as to the solo 401k below fill that to the max your CPA will
allow this year in your crypto of choice and same for 2018 before getting equip is my view

my 2c worth

ON the assumption...I'm going to buy a future Bitmain product.....thou to be fair (or greedy) I'd get $300 in vouchers.....I have 2 extra bitmain PSU's I should probably sell...
(have $135 each in them with shipping ..got them at the $115 or so PSU rate) ...that would be $570 towards another bitmain toaster....hmmm...)

hard to beat myself up getting bitmain products in that they are in reality THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN price vs arrival vs difficulty on whatever you flavor of asic machine is

x11, scrypt-pow or sha-256...monopolies ...the only way to go it seems...

should have got more GPUs Cheesy

naw should have kept my LTC rather then the D3's...as to GPU's the time machine to 2013 is broken Smiley

MIGHT be something in 2018 worth gettng (unlikely at 12c kwh) so when my current scrypt pow miners go doorstops ..back to hobby mining

that is fine...I had more fun when I only had 2 miners anyway....and if I can keep my hoard of many coins....I can relive those days and watch the hoard Smiley

3572  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: November 21, 2017, 07:03:18 AM
Since you guys are all bumping up this thread, and every other post is seemingly off topic, what's the latest miners? My guess is S9? How about for alts? ... @Searing, I know you mine some lite ones, you mentioned. heh.

I plan to set some on the north pole beside Santa's house.

Well, for me at 12c kWh electric it is not flying well...Santa's house or not....for me anyway

My view is (at this time it can change at a whim) is that IF you have ASIC miners of any flavor you should just mine like hell and hold the crypto of your choice...assuming
your alt or crypto of choice ..is linked to BTC pump)

In other words, if you see the coin pumping anyway you should just hodl if that is your only reason to get equip ...less risk hodl'ing long term

IF you have to have equip (ie need the space heater aspects on the north pole and/or a lot cheaper electric then my 12c kwh ave for the year

Then I'd get a Bitmain L3+ as the least offensive asic machine out there..mine like hell and hold it all in LTC

What I'm doing with my 7,500 mh of scrypt pow and my 2 D3's and 1 300 mh baikal cube..all are on prohashing mulitpool and all payouts all in LTC

My view is if BTC is gonna stabilize at say $8k usd or over....then I have a hard time not seeing LTC be at least $100 at the low end...my view is $150 sure thing and/or

maybe $300....so I'm saving LTC on that assumption

you make the same assumption...on a bitmain L3+......and difficulty gets us in trouble...the price pump of LTC may get you out of trouble

IF BTC dumps and the LTC historical linkage remains and you are looking at a BTC and LTC dump..then LTC usually does not fall as far and you can hold

a year, till the next pump....

Myself, I'd just wait and put it in coin...and myself LTC...IF your reason to get a machine is a bet on LTC rising...skip the machine and the other lemmings

at this point in time and just get coin (or in my case LTC) ....  you can always change your mind after the 1st of the year

myself, I havde plenty of equip deductions for the IRS this year in equipment ..so my extra $$$ are going into a solo 401k and LTC to hold from IRS

same benifit as equip write off less risk

thus gonna fill the solo 401k bucket FIRST each year from now on ...then equipment seems more prudent

know guys that used the service below..you run it all you keep your keys you are the account runner....they just help setup/then maintain for a fee afterwards

anyway, its an option also

https://www.checkbookira.com/

IF the game is to fill up as much crypto in a bucket as you can...I think I'm gonna do the solo 401k first.....then dubious equip ...and if I get dubious equip I'll take out

a loan and be more modest/prudent...the days of me using crypto for anything other then elec pay on my current ROI miners may be numbered.....the way the price

of BTC and LTC keeps rising......seems the better path to fill the solo 401k bucket first (as a tax write off like equip) and then equip (with a loan) and if for some reason

I get in trouble with the bank fiat loan...I can always then cash out coin after the fact....to fix such....

no more crypto first and loan paid off next ..the price of any flavor of crypto BTC or LTC or Dash....etc as soon as I did that would explode (how my life works)

anyway, my angle

Also, I would not get any equip till next year to use as a tax write off in 2018...also if LTC pumps to 300 bucks you probably would need the equip write off more in 2018 anyway

I mean it is Nov 21st already...I'd hold off till 2018

the play I'm making and how I'm looking at everything (at this time anyway)

later
brad

edit: re-read above....can I really be OFF_TOPIC on a dead miner thread..? Interesting philosophical question..hmmmmm

anyway as usual, you don't like my ramblings put me on /ignore ...I don't mind

(I will also drop you email with some exact question on info@)

Don't you just love how some folks just post idiotic things like this?
Shows a serious lack of brains when they do not even realize that despite it being said many many times in these last few pages: for a few years now Spondoolies is gone. Out of business. Kerput.

I`m happy that i don`t live in the USA.US taxes are insane.
I`m sure tha there is a "legal" way to avoid this capital gain taxation.Perhaps by registering a company in some offshore island with low taxation.Maybe you could "cancel" your US sitizenship and become sitizen of some other country. If there were such capital gain taxes in my country(i live in the EU) i would hold my cryptocurrencies forever and refuse to sell them for fiat money.
Maybe i would wait for more merchants to accept bitcoin and start buying goods and services directly with btc.

Well the catch is.....the IRS gives me lots of tax write offs....for example since 2013 I've not paid any taxes...because what I owed, in taxes ...I got taken off in gross income from mining vs
same amount taken off in equip purchase..thus a wash

the IRS charges 25% min (depends on your income it goes up to 50%) on crypto mining...on the other hand ..say I make 10k mining ...if I buy 10k in equip that = 0 no taxes

now, that worked pretty well in 2013 till now 2017, when I made a mess of BTC...not so well now

i also just found out I can now do a solo 401k (my crypto is a biz) ...as an example from the internet if 100k income I can put 40k or so if over 59.5 years I think it is can go off taxes.....thus with the other 60k
in mining equip ..it is more or less even

but from my above.....IF YOU WANTED TO CASH THE LOT OUT that could be a problem

thou you could take it as a loss *up to 3k a year for the rest of your life* etc...lol ...of course in USA billionaires like trump are allowed to go bankrupt 3x and write stuff off

anyway, will use the solo 401k retirement fund angle (can put crypto in it) as a hedge..will fill that bucket first..then equip next and if all else pay the tax as 3rd choice as long

as home mining holds out (at 12c kwh unlikely much longer)

eventually, I won't be able to mine anymore (at 12c kwh) so I can maybe wrap this up in 2018 and just HODL my crypto of many flavors..have all paid ..ROI done all crypto is profit

hopefully, how it will play out...but again IRS sees these tax advantages for long-term investments..thus the captial gains etc I mention above.....you can get your $$$ out

but depending on how large you can take quite a hit....this kinda take out for capital gains is supposed to be slow when you retire a bit at a time .not a lump sum windfall

on the other hand

IF BTC survives even if from now on it simply acted as a regular investment and say got 11% return a year..you can bleed it off in the manner of the previous post on this thread
a bit at a time staying under or low capital gains on your modest take out for income

but dumping it all..you'd get killed by the tax man, then again if on the other hand, all crypto did go tulips...i could write the losses off my future taxes 3k at a pop forever

*hey, what is 15 years*  at 3k a pop (what I have left) (er...wait would not even have that left in solo 401k but if tulips...would be a loss anyway) (hurt my head on that)

anyway, again thru equip wiping out taxes owed (IRS likes you to take chances double down on more equip..then there cut is better next year...thus why you get a tax break

on equip) and this now solo 401k I can fund as a self-employed business that acts the same as equip write-offs...I'll manage to skim thru the rest of home mining of any crypto

with equip from now on

dumb and lucky also works ..being 'legal as hell* has its advantages if BTC went say to 200k ...IRS asks about the speedboat and supermodels...I can laugh and send them

to my CPA accountant and all is well ..if BTC goes to 200k a BTC ...how the hell would you spend it w/o NOT changing your lifestyle....that would suck

anyway, just saying, if everyone on bitcointalk ARE early adopters and even 8k BTC will be  killing in 10 years.....keep this stuff in mind.....find a way to play the game

with the tax man, you are happy

and in the USA, you can't go overseas and not pay taxes you still owe them ....so no joy there

anyway it is all a matter of how much crypto you have at the end of the game...also you can take electric and some other stuff besides miners off your gross income
as well

catch is finding NON-dubious equipment to make all this work.....more money out mining then put into equip ..as of now that looks lame..thus the solo 401k bucket to fill

first for the same benifit as equip/elec/etc off gross income = remaining net income taxed (at whatever your rate is) and again capital gains is above that but it is how

the game is played in the USA. Go figure.

w o w, I'm so impressed with your opinion, prices btc can't seeing point, it is always change and a fluctative value.

Again prudent investments work like below

1) anything up to 35K income. No capital gains tax. *though it could kick you up a tax bracket with other income*

2) something/something 20% capital gains on an amount from 35k to whatever (too lazy to look it up)

Thus you have a hoard, you want to run off with strippers, you don't want the IRS to take you away, you are stuck with the above.....

alas, no strippers.....alas, have to treat it like any other long-term investment....alas, can't run amuck!

This being an adult sucks...oh well, with above 'borders' guess it is responsible adult mode and ride this out

damn you IRS, I could have given Charlie Sheen a run for his money!

P.S. I'm at this 'interesting point' at 10k coin....what is your interesting point? 20k 50k 100k a BTC ..if this whole black swan event of BTC works

you will all be making posts like mine, sometime in the next few years. (be careful what you wish for, you may surely get it)
