361  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Starting a small farm... on: August 07, 2018, 09:54:49 PM
You will not be able to do this in an apartment simply based on the noise the miners make. You will hear complaints within minutes of turning them on. That much power from wall outlets will most likely not be feasable. Also you are not taking into account the heat that the miners make.

You need to do MUCH MORE research before even thinking about an idea like this. The information is all here, you just have to put the time in to learn about it.
362  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cooling Asic Down on: August 07, 2018, 04:18:45 PM
Is there any way to cut the noise/heat of a T2T? Thanks for any help. Looked the internet but not much found.

The reason you are not finding anything is these machines are not meant to be muffled or restricted.

They are industrial miners and are not meant to be run at home. They are meant to be run in a proper environment where noise is not an issue.
363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethermine Hashrate is not stable what would be the cause? on: August 07, 2018, 03:27:41 PM
Hash rate isnt a stable thing, I dont think you understand the nuts and bolts of how mining actually works. If you see a smooth graph for hash rate thats because on the back end someone is cleaning it up to make it look nice.

You are solving math problems when hashing, you might solve it on the first try or the 204385763th try. The hash rate you see is an average of how long its taking you, its not a real static number.

There is nothing wrong with your hash rate and there is literally no reason to try and mess with it as its functioning as intended.

Also you will NEVER make an identical amount of coins month to month, thats just not how mining works when it comes to difficulty. You might want to read up on what you are doing, things will make much more sense once you educate yourself.
364  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are medium and large mining operations backup plans? on: August 06, 2018, 06:56:03 PM
If you never recoup your costs going solar, you are definitely doing something horribly wrong.  Even for a non-miner, solar is a no-brainer for anyone who owns their property in a sunny area and doesn't plan on moving in the next decade.

The only way to be successful with mining as your sole source of income is to constantly upgrade and expand. If you want to run 100kw forever and subsist on a base salary, sure it might work out for a while. If you want to be successful that is just not the way to go. 100kw of mining gear might make pennies in 5 years while you are still paying off that solar bill, eventually going underwater on it. Even right now 100kw of gear is a pretty mediocre salary all things considered.
365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Frustrating Windows lag when I use all PCI-E slots on: August 06, 2018, 04:46:59 PM
Why all these posts when the answer is to run linux?
366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PolarisBiosEditor Questions :) on: August 06, 2018, 03:48:10 PM
You might try posting in the proper section. What you are asking about has nothing to do with BTC and needs to be removed from this area of the forum.
367  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are medium and large mining operations backup plans? on: August 06, 2018, 03:41:13 PM
"almost no risk" other than the $200k of sunk cost into solar panels, the time spent, and all the non-miner hardware and setup costs.

It seems like running ASIC's for deep learning is the best backup plan I've heard of.

Well if you are going solar you are already doing it wrong and will most likely never recoup your costs. That is just a dumb idea.
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer faulty hashboard on: August 03, 2018, 05:56:01 PM
When boards go bad they are just bad, you cant magically repair them. You would have to send them off and pay someone to fix them.
369  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Two stage performance tuning for S9 / S9i (include version for immersion cooling on: August 03, 2018, 05:13:07 PM
You know how dumb that is. There are not unused sensors. You think you can just program a sensor and it magically appears on the hashboards this is just funny...

Actually you are the incorrect one here. There are many temperature sensors not used on the board because they are part of each hashing chip. Speaking on technical things you dont understand just makes you look a bit silly.
370  Economy / Service Discussion / A more robust mining calculator on: August 02, 2018, 08:38:55 PM
Nearly all bitcoin profit calculators you find are static to the current difficulty making forecasting nearly impossible.

Here is a new calculator that can actually forecast based on historical trends.

As with any calculator, remember to view it as a rough estimate and not the gospel.

371  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are medium and large mining operations backup plans? on: August 02, 2018, 08:34:29 PM
Honestly 100kw is only enough to run like 60 miners. Its not like you need a full building or some special land. You can modify a pre-fab shed to do what you need and just stick a panel on the outside of it. There is really almost no risk for a setup that tiny.
372  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 Support on: August 02, 2018, 03:23:21 PM
Ok thanks I will be installing a 250V outlet tommorow to see if it fixes the problem

Question though; why did it turn on for a brief second if it’s a voltage issue shouldn’t it of not tuned on at all or was the capacitors still partially active ?

The first thing an s7 does when you power it on is to apply power to the hashing boards to heat the chips up before the actual hashing starts. So as soon as the controller boots that is what happens, causing it to draw near full power like notfuzzy said.
373  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are medium and large mining operations backup plans? on: August 02, 2018, 03:17:55 PM
Crypto will never be unprofitable if you know what you are doing. You dont place all your eggs in one basket you need multiple revenue streams to be a successful company.
374  Economy / Reputation / Re: High-ranked accounts involved in Merit-Trading, Bounty Cheating + buy/sell Accs on: July 31, 2018, 09:19:06 PM
<snip>
So you're saying that's your account?  Do you have any proof of that?  I'd be happy to tag it, but if you can't verify that it's yours I won't.

As for the rest, there's not much that's going to be done IMO.  It'd be nice if DT members tagged suspected merit abusers, but the fact is they're not.  Hilariousetc just caught a whole bunch of them in that creampie spitball thread and no one tagged any of them.  I agree it sucks that people are doing this, but it's kind of the consensus that they're going to be allowed to keep doing this crap.  Eventually the sMerits will dry up, and most members couldn't get them if they tried.

Yes im saying thats my account. I have been posting from the same IP for years on it, it would be easy to verify as I am using that same IP right now. As I said, I was never informed that I needed to post a bitcoin address just in case I needed it recovered. I can describe PMs including the last one I received before the account was stolen but I dont know what other way you would like me to prove it. Its all right there in the server logs. I dont care about the merits, its a useless system. I dont need to scrape pennies from sig campaigns I would be fine if my account was reset to zero merit. I just want access to the 3 years of PMs and info that I had saved there.

Heres a question: Why cant it just be reverted to the original email address on file? The account is locked, I can show the email where I locked it after realizing it was hacked.

Here is a screenshot from my email that you can match PMs to:

Here is a screenshot of the email that was sent when it got hacked, this is where I locked the account down so they could not use it:

375  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Video] Tear down/ Component replacement Avalon Miner 841 on: July 31, 2018, 06:01:59 PM
No worries, I'm amazed it hadn't been called out before. I actually considered getting rid of the audio as it bothered me; just a slip I hadn't realised until I was editing it.

In the end I just left it there as it still gets the point across.

I meant it in fun, I should have probably added that the overall content of the video is quite good, thank you for making it!
376  Other / Off-topic / Re: Norton antivirus on: July 31, 2018, 05:54:47 PM
The fix is to uninstall Norton.

Its a garbage piece of software thats not going to protect you anyway. All you need to do is not open stupid shit from your email or this forum and you wont get a virus.

Seriously, google "norton vulnerabilities" and see how bad it actually is.
377  Economy / Reputation / Re: High-ranked accounts involved in Merit-Trading, Bounty Cheating + buy/sell Accs on: July 31, 2018, 05:48:34 PM

Fanatic26 – most likely sold or hacked for sMerits, stopped posting:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=648651

It sure is shitty that no one was able to help me get my account back after this. The messed up thing is it was not hacked via any of my devices. I really dont understand why its so hard to take 30 seconds and set my email back to the original that it had been for years so I didnt lose the account.

Also there needs to be some serious promotion of the "signed bitcoin message to prove ownership" because in my years on this forum it was never mentioned anywhere except in a help section I never needed until I was hacked. It should be front and center EVERYWHERE so people dont lose their accounts due to the site managers refusing to ever help.
378  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How To Overclock Your S9/T9+,T9,R4 To 18TH/s Free. on: July 30, 2018, 09:04:18 PM
Do you mind elaborating more on how to do it? I have a bunch of T9+ which are not being profitable

You guys realize that the added power draw from these overclocks negate any possible profit right?

That and you will blow your equipment up much faster.

Pushing the hardware like this is a recipe for disaster and a pretty dumb thing to do if you care about making money.
379  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Video] Tear down/ Component replacement Avalon Miner 841 on: July 30, 2018, 09:01:20 PM
I cant help it, it was driving me crazy a few minutes into the video when you kept calling everything bolts when there isnt a single bolt on the unit.

380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EVERYTHING Miners Need To Know About GPU Warranties | BEST? Worst? Transfer? on: July 30, 2018, 06:47:05 PM
Unless you registered the card, this worry is null and void. They have no way of knowing who purchased it originally and they dont ask for proof of purchase while a product is in warranty.

Straight from the Asus RMA form:

Instant RMA will be provided for ASUS products that are In-Warranty and are manufactured in the North America region (United States and Canada only). If your product is outside the manufacturer warranty term, you may still complete the web form, but you must upload a copy of your proof of purchase for warranty validation and you will receive a Case#.

ONLY if you product is OUTSIDE of the mfg warranty you have to provide proof....
