361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLT] FLUTTERCOIN Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ| Proof of Transaction | +Merchants |Flutterspeed on: November 04, 2014, 09:09:48 PM
G'morning all.

I've been in touch with some persons in the Minptal drama. I can't say that much about it - but I do my best to keep an eye on fluttercoin wallet and the options to get it back. It's a tricky spot - because even if we get the wallet back (45M flt), there is no known way to send back the coins on a fair manner.

So I would like to know what any of you would do if we manage to get the wallet back. How to handle it ?

Thanks

If they can give us the wallet, then they would probably be able to give us the database of people who deposited FLT. If they can provide us with such, then it would be great, all coins would return to its original owner. If not... then the coins would have to be distributed in an equal and fair way.

Let's hope they can process the withdrawals themselves, anyway Smiley
Not so simple : people who had deposit flt may have traded and some mintpal users may not have made any flt deposit but may have bought some in mintpal ...
You need the trade transactions too ...
362  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore CryptoNote GPU Miner v9.1 on: October 17, 2014, 09:53:04 AM
Checked my miner today and found it outputting all kinds of negative number jargon. Negative hash rate, negative mining time. WTF!

Speed: -5940 h/s, TotalHashes: 53089K, DevHashes: 1326K Mining time: -2:-31
10/16/14-20:56:18 - SHARE FOUND (target 250012) - (GPU 5 of 6)
GPU 0 t=74C fan=57; GPU 1 t=75C fan=61; GPU 2 t=74C fan=56;

Miner appears to still be working. Restarting it corrected the problem. No idea what happened, figured I'd report it.

You changed time on your PC.
probably due to the so called BCX time warp attack on monero   Wink

Mintpal.com up again. Anyone had XMR there? Please let us know what's happening.
When you log in you arrive in a special withdrawal page : In this page I can see all my balances right, including XMR, which is somewhat a good presage. You can specify retrieval adress for each coin, including XMR, then save.
They says that each withdrawal is manually approved and for some coin such that XMR, il will take a longer time due to some daemon problems.

Overall, I believe I will recover my coins, but I am rather an optimistic guy and I had only small amounts of coins. Wait & see.

thanks for posting! love this community:)
I have just received my coins from mintpal, except for monero and btc up to now.
364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 16, 2014, 06:41:41 PM
Is it possible transfer of coins from Monero Mintpal directly to another Exchange / Poloniex / without going through the portfolio /0.8.8.4/?
Currently on page Mintpal should just give Withdrawal Address without ID!?! Is that enough to transfer the coins?
Thank you!

I suggest you to use your personal address : there probably won't be a lot of support for failed transfer...

That was a lot of good information.  So basically this guy has basically been the reaper for many a coin, but usually via raw power.  He hasn't said he was going to attack XMR (the exact opposite).  The worrisome thing is that he said he found an exploit in CN.  I am wondering if what he really means is "somebody showed him a fatal flaw".  The XMR trolls have pissed a lot of people off.  I can imagine another developer knows about a flaw and just hasn't done much but is considering it now.  Also, if somebody knew about a flaw and wanted to kill a coin but didn't have the resources themselves, then BCX is hands down the most obvious choice to contact.  He has destroyed so many coins; he apparently kind of likes it.  Even if I am wrong about this theory, I think there is something to what he is saying about flaws in the code.  He has a pretty bad ass reputation and apparently a high ego.  I am sure he would hate to get shamed and be wrong.

I'm still digging... there was a lot to go over and BCX has deleted a lot of his posts, most of which contain evidence I would assume.

Apparently he has also repeatedly used the time travel exploit. What kind of difficulty adjustment algo does Monero use??? As I think that is how the time travel exploit is utilized.

It is possible I guess someone tipped him off to an exploit in CN. It would be interesting checking other CN's Githubs for recent commits.. maybe in this case, the one that is in the know would have fixed the exploit recently.

Isn't there a forum that duplicates everything from here so it's documented even if deleted?

not just monero but all cryptonote coins are at risk.
How do you know?

Hey, there is a serious flaw in cryptonote.
XMR has been the first targeted.
Is BBR ready for this ?

How do you know there is a flaw in cryptonote ? I just heard about a corrupted block in monero blockchain probably following an attack.

Hi guys!
I got acquainted to use bitcoins and to trade them at different exchanges. But I see, XMR is growing up for now. So I would like to use this currency.
I'm not a tech guru, so I have some problems.
While using Bitcoins, I got acquainted to Blockchain wallet. Sure, it doesn't support XMR. So I had to create a new one.
So, I read getting started: http://monero.cc/getting-started/#wallet
And looked through this thread. Sorry it is too big to go through all of it.
In getting started is written:
Create a wallet with this command line.
cd ~/bitmonero/build/release/src && ./simplewallet --generate-new-wallet wallet.bin

I'm trying, but nothing goes.

That's why I registered on this forum board. I use Win8. Thank you. Help me to start with XMR, please.
These commands are for linux (unix syntax). You can do the dos equivalent : see the tutorial : https://monerotalk.org/t/bounty-create-a-useful-tutorial-on-how-to-setup-monero-closed/13/4

My opinion : for windows, you should use one gui wallet (qt or .net), with embedded wallet.

My 32bit wallet  have    20  XMR

Huh

You have several options:

1. You can wait. There will eventually be a 32 bit build with a blockchain database. Currently under development.

2. You can restore to a 64 bit wallet if you have the mnemonic seed for your 32 bit wallet. This is only an option if you wallet was created after mnemonic seed support was added and you saved the seed when you created the wallet.

3. You can try to get the 32 bit wallet to work using Windows PAE and/or /3GB mode. PAE has been reported to work, although I think /3GB may (also?) be required.

I think one can create the 64 bits wallet from the .keys file.

I installed new client v.1.1.0 Everything went well except, when my AV ran this morning it found a virus (critical/threat: stoned (10) in the blk.0001.dat file and deleted it. I can redownload the entire blockchain but need some feedback first.

Anybody else have this issue? I downloaded client from http://www.blackcoin.co/  False positive?? what to do??
It happened to me a few weeks ago. Probably false positive

gpu mining destroyed the coin value
everyday its lower and lower
Gpu and asics didn't destroyed bitcoin value...
The ratio cpu/gpu hash power is fair (probably the fairest of all algo).
374  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX] on: June 30, 2014, 08:35:06 AM
from 1200h/s to 1400h/s

fuck it, time to sell my amd rigs.
For XMR  :
The amd R9 290X is about 750h/s at stock (gpu@1000, tri-x).
The couple R9 290X @1000 + R9 290@900 (underclocked for noise and heat, -100mv) give me about 1390 h/s.
Power usage is about 330W for the pair.
Maybe when the BBR ccminer will arrive, I will switch to nvidia, up to now amd is good enough.

So! Like every other shitcoin monero get listed on mintpal, get pumped and after that get dumped Smiley. I fall in the trap of pump just because have too much confidence and was thinking that monero is something different. I was wrong
Monero hasn't be pumped on mintpal yet... only dumped!
I has been pumped on poloniex before mintpal arrival.
There will be probably some pump on mintpal one day, probably not too far away, when big mintpal pumpers will have accumulated enough cheap xmr to launch the pump.

I am guessing the demon's crashed at http://pool.cryptoescrow.eu/ or needs restarting? 9 Hours without a block!

So many bitmonerod daemon crashing on pools. I feel that miners need my pool to come back.

It's monday again and we'll be taking our voting winner slightly earlier than usual at 6pm UTC. Keep voting!
Monero on Mintpal, finally!

Where ?

not exactly : a mintpal 's tweet : annoucing that the vote winner will be the new coin at 6 pm UTC : which should be XMR...

Hash Rate: 1.09 MH/sec
Block Found: about 5 hours ago at the moment
How it's possible?? No blocks for 5h.
probably just a front-end problem for stats, which means blocks are found by the pool but doesn't appeared on the stats for a while

Hello,
i also have the issue with paiments.
My stats indicate 27 XMR paid but i was stuck on 12 XMR during the complete last week. This week (after switching to command line wallet, since you were suggesting this was part of the problem), everything works fine.
I think there are about 12 to 14 xmr unpaid on your side.

Could you have a look please?

The problem of ol92 has been solved some days ago.

I confirm : problem solved for me : but this is not my quoted message, I think the poster has made a mistake with mixing his message and mine with quote tags.

Private optimized miners (gpu or cpu ) are more frequent than most of us believe. The point here is that the developpers of ccminer openly admitted the existence of their private miner and the others miners are angry from this potentially unfair advantage.
If there is an hardfork, there will be some private miners again for sure (cpu only if the algo is more gpu resistant)... but secretive this time : not sure it will be better since ccminer dev have good intention toward bbr.
