361  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoinponzi — the first open Bitcoin Ponzi scheme for fun! on: April 17, 2011, 09:21:18 PM
actually, you called everyones scheme fraudulent, by claiming yours is the first non-fraudulent ever (which obviously isn't true).
362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Brand new to bitcoin mining, need help on: April 17, 2011, 05:40:24 PM
I was using GUIminer...
but when I relaunched it, it said I had no bitcoins..
huh?
since when do miners know, or tell about how many coins we have in our wallets?

check your deepbit-account, it'll tell you how much you earned
and if that amount has been send to your wallet, your bitcoin-client will show,
miners won't do that, they're supposed to generate hashes, nothing more than that.

the first open 'non-fraudulent' scheme ever

Are you calling mine fraudulent? Smiley Read the FAQ, it does exactly what it says it does.

maybe he's calling mine fraudulent,
but then again, i'm not taking a cut to "..gain the ability to finance [my] day-to-day needs", 100% of all investments go back to my users.
364  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin newcomer; How should I use my 45-computer array ? on: April 16, 2011, 08:11:32 PM
but it will take a yr to PAY for those gpu's
that's untrue,
at current difficulty and market-prices it would take just about 3months to pay the 50bucks for a HD5570,
so in about 4-5months you'd be in profit.

running 45CPUs at 100% probably won't gain you any profit ever.
365  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin newcomer; How should I use my 45-computer array ? on: April 16, 2011, 07:56:32 PM
- Some of them have video cards installed, but nothing newer than 3 years old.
maybe you should get some cheap video-cards to plug into those machines,
a single HD5570 would gain you as much hashes/s as your whole cluster at an equal power-cost of 1 CPU at 100%,
45 of them and you got a nice and cheap mining-farm.
366  Economy / Economics / Re: Breakup will threaten us? on: April 14, 2011, 09:04:14 AM
why do you think that all coins would lose value to zero, as soon as a new currency arrives?
it wouldn't actually have a big impact on Bitcoin,
Bitcoin would still be as functional and useful as it is today.
people would just trade bitcoins for that new currency and vice versa and maybe (!) over time bitcoins will lose value, but people also might choose NOT to use the new currency for whatever reason, noone can tell.
367  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: omg why are drug dealers using bitcoin?!?! on: April 13, 2011, 09:10:26 PM
Why are drug dealers using this currency which can be untraceable and unlinkable if proper security measures are taken with it?
cuz they can?
368  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~100 Gh/s Mining Pool] INSTANT PAYOUT,+1% with LP! +0.8% for no failed blocks! on: April 13, 2011, 04:56:51 AM
but have i really only gained 31% of my minings earnings and shared 69% of it? Cry Cry
no, the 31% are 100% your minings earnings,
what you share in a pool is your LUCK, not your earnings,
your (expected future) earnings do not depend on the number of blocks you found in a given (past) timeframe.

you've been just very lucky to be the one finding those blocks for the pool (not that it matters for yourself),
how could you tell what would have happened when you would have been mining solo?
you could have made 200BTC, or 500BTC, or none at all, noone can tell.

don't feel sad, the fun part about pools is, that you'll also receive your 62BTC (or less while difficulty rises) without finding any blocks at all.

369  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Selling: Aliens vs Predator Full Game Voucher on: April 09, 2011, 08:21:11 PM
Hmm , in what country are you atm , otherwise i would offer something for this Cheesy.
not sure if that matters, isn't it actually more important where you are?  Cheesy

that it's not available in my country is only what i read on my quick-search anyway, i might be wrong here,
as said i don't use Steam, so i never used one of these vouchers, or the Games menu myself to Activate a product on Steam.
370  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Yet Another Exchange? on: March 30, 2011, 02:48:28 AM
can there be enough exchanges?
everyone should exchange whatever currency to BTC and vice versa, then noone would have problems to cash-in, or -out.
371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin distribution vs community size on: March 29, 2011, 09:10:26 AM
my bad, but you got the idea.  Wink
372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin distribution vs community size on: March 29, 2011, 08:22:39 AM
it's highly volatile and easily manipulated because of that ratio.
it's not easily manipulated because of that ratio,
it's easily manipulated because of the small economy-size of just around 5million USD,
every "one guy" with a couple of million USD to spend can manipulate the market.
to distribute the coins in some different way wouldn't change anything.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coin distribution vs community size on: March 29, 2011, 07:44:23 AM
what i don't get is, what this has todo with fairness?
"wealth-distribution" will never be fair, no matter what currency we use.
374  Other / Obsolete (selling) / Re: Trial: 15 Ghash/s for sale on: March 27, 2011, 05:48:50 AM
Are you guaranteeing truly minted coins, or are you just sending the same coins back to the buyer?
maybe he's buying coins daily from the market, no need for him to "truly mine" them.

And what is the point in converting Bitcoins into Bitcoins? I can see the point in leasing hardware to convert Dollars to Bitcoins.
we should be glad that here's one more service-offer for bitcoins, instead of dollars, isn't that exactly what the bitcoin-economy needs?

and what's the point in converting dollars to bitcoins by leasing hardware and wait for months,
if you can buy them cheaper within a few days (if it takes that long to transfer your dollars to LR- , or MTG-dollars)?

375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The problem with transaction fees on: March 26, 2011, 08:42:04 PM
I believe that mining for transaction fees is a non-equilibrium unsustainable solution that will lead to most people giving up mining because it's not worthwhile.
if most people give up mining, because it's not worthwhile, less people mine more blocks and get more fees in a shorter timeframe, what again makes it worthwhile to them.
i don't see a tragedy here.
376  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~60 Gh/s Mining Pool] Get 1-2% more with long polling ! No failed blocks. on: March 26, 2011, 08:24:08 PM
http://www.bitcoincharts.com/bitcoin/
...
I know you find it useful, & i am expecting donation from you.
and what exactly do you have todo with bitcoincharts, or that list?
i expect you to donate to tcatm, or was that your plan anyway, to send all donations to him?

i might fart a few times today though
377  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Rig Rental Service on: March 25, 2011, 07:12:32 PM
Also, even at $1 per MHPS, I think you would loss money. Though, I haven't messed around with the numbers since the recent difficulty change.
i'm glad there's finally some competition,
but even at the actual $0.5 per MHPS and current difficulty- and price-level, renting such a rig is still more expensive then to just buy coins on the market (not to mention homegrown-coins).
378  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin Randomizer, just a stupid pyramid scheme on: March 25, 2011, 10:51:26 AM
Surely I should be able to recover my password if I supply either un or email, I should not need both!!
uhm..no,
thing is, you can create multiple accounts with different usernames, but only a single mail-address.

i guess you only have one account, so just let me know your email-address and i'll tell you the username.  Wink
379  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~60 Gh/s Mining Pool] Get 1-2% more with long polling ! No failed blocks. on: March 21, 2011, 05:00:03 PM
..so you can improve your efficiency by installing it.
Please upgrade.

sorry to say, but...well, long polling actually isn't as efficient as you want it to be.
no idea what it's like for others, or on other pools, with long polling i get ~0.90% stale shares, without long polling i get ~1.05% stale shares.

that's not really much of an improvement.
380  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50 Gh/s] Mining pool with both payment methods. No stales, no failed blocks ! on: March 14, 2011, 07:16:41 PM
it seems i get more and more of these

Stale hash. To reduce stales, use long polling, e.g. latest m0mchil's python miner
while already using latest m0mchil's python miner.
