Original post removed due to erroneous interpretation.

But, still, 2800W GAW? We're not mining Bitcoins here!

Gotta echo the positive words being said about this pool, only good experiences so far.

I would ask one thing, however, what's the chances of creating a port and website function for manually switching your rigs to a different coin?

I have to currently stop my A2 90's, manually change the pool address in their config and then restart them. Yeah, I know, it's not the end of the world, but where we have a whole bunch of people all hashing away through the multiport address, it tends to make the coin diff rise quite quickly, so I like to switch to another coin that has dropped in difficulty in the meantime.

Thoughts?

I hope you undestand and will keep your word about crediting ealier buyers instead of following stinky "chinese business model"

What is 'stinky' about trading with the Chinese? GAW trade with them and plenty of buyers of A2's trade with them.

I'm increasingly concerned about the degree of xenophobia and outright racism that is casually thrown about in trade threads. Much of it appears to come from those flag-waving 'patriots' for whom anything outside of their national border is treated as some foreign third-world nation that just needs to 'be like them'.

In my experience with dealing with the Chinese I have found them to be trustworthy and reasonable. They might not have the 'western' gloss and finish to their shop-front that you are used to, but if you wanted to be scrypt mining on 28nm ASICS before anyone else had even shipped, they were delivering in spades.

Betarigs needs to be your pool1 so that when a customer rents it will switch to 'live' and change from mining on your pool2 or pool3.

I just did some math on power consumption and I really hope there is an error somewhere:

Gridseed small: 20W per MH/s
Gridseed blade: 17W per MH/s
Fury: 30W per MH/s
Black Widow: 25W per MH/s
Falcon: 24W per MH/s
War Machine: 24W per MH/s
Big Gun: 28W per MH/s

Even assuming 10% overestimate on power consumption and 20% underestimate on performance, these numbers are worse than Gridseed, let alone Innosilicon.

However Zeus gives different numbers for their miners (roughly 13W per MH/s), so hopefully theirs are correct.

Any chance of GAW responding to these, and the other issues, that are being repeatedly raised and then drowned out by fan-boys gushing all over this thread?

Seriously, this is a big deal, 28nm ASIC miners are here now, properly power-efficient ones, not the half-assed Gridseed miner that was just barely better than a GPU, so why the awful power usage on these GAW miners?

3626  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] ipoMiner - Profitable multipool targeting new coins on: May 17, 2014, 07:56:03 AM
We also just added NautilusCoin for the scrypt multiport as another option for the multiport to mine in the event of more trouble with VRC.

My stats show an unconfirmed balance for NautilusCoin as a result of the multiport switching to it during the night for a period of time, when is it going to become a confirmed amount?
3627  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: GAWMiners.com - THE BIG GUN - 100 MH Scrypt Miner! $11,999.95 on: May 16, 2014, 05:43:43 PM
Wouldn't they just release a lower number if the number was actually lower.

If it was, I'm sure they would, of course. My question, however, was what they were going to be attempting to change about the shockingly poor numbers associated with this unit. They said that firmware and various adjustments were going to be made before they release it to market, I'd just like to know what they intend to settle for in terms of reaching that point.

I can understand now why they charge so much for hosting if they are having to run a 100Mh unit at 2800w.

It just strikes me that they are relying solely on the reluctance of their customer-base to deal with 'foreign' vendors in order to justify putting out devices that are clearly well short of the mark. Knowing that GAWminer, themselves, are more than happy to do business with Chinese producers, it is a tad galling to see them attempting to market a miner that isn't going to be available until next month, at specs that are sub-standard at this time, when they know that 28nm Innosilicon units are available right now.

It doesn't sit right and I think the earlier commenter might have hit the nail on the head when he postulated as to whom GAW were aiming to sell the 'Big Gun' to.

I just don't understand people.
If an offer doesn't fit your wallet or doesn't fit your electricity bill why bother buying?

All decent businesses would rather hear a potential customer speak up about an issue they see with a product, than to stay silent and simply go elsewhere. GAW might be able to reply with something that clarifies the situation sufficiently to entice me and other customers concerned about the current stated specs to keep up to date with the progress on product release.

I don't see why you felt compelled to complain.

Site's fine for me. My rigs show no interrupt either.

Can I ask what you are intending to correct about the 'Big Gun'? In terms of performance issues and power usage, what numbers are you aiming for before you release it?

It's just that you can spend less than that right now on an Innosilicon A2 90 that'll hash happily at 80+Mh/s for 800w of power. There are forum users here who are dependable and reliable sellers and, if wanted, hosters, for these Terminators, yet you are trying to shift 5 100Mh units that'll draw so much electricity the power bill at the end of each month is going to be a huge issue and, what's more, they are not going to be shipped until June?

Surely you can't be happy with those numbers yourself GAW, so why expect your customers to be?

3631  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WIll Darkcoin reach $1000 by the end of 2014? on: May 16, 2014, 12:56:37 PM
If this coin has good qualities but you feel the dev and his pals launched it in a dishonest way, do you know what you do?

Fork 'em.

Seriously, if DRK, or any coin for that matter, possesses qualities that go some way towards it being seen as having a value, but you assert that they have screwed the community in some way, then copy it, rename and launch it how you would have liked to have seen it done in the first place.

3632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BETARIGS.COM - Cryptocurrency cloud mining - thousands of rigs available! on: May 16, 2014, 04:36:42 AM
Wazzz did go through with rig rental from me a few days ago, but there were also a dozen 'false starts' on the payment front. I think some users have itchy trigger fingers and then, once they've set up an order, change their mind after a movement in the market for wherever they were going to point their rental occurs.

I don't think it's malicious, just somewhat disorganised.
3633  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which ASIC hardware are you backing? on: May 15, 2014, 08:38:32 AM
I will continue to purchase Gridseed blades from GAW or Zoomhash until something viable ships from one of these other manufacturers.

Innosilicon A2 Terminators have been available for over a week now. You can buy them through some of the Chinese vendors who have accounts here. You are seriously tossing money away if you continue to buy Gridseed when you can get an A2 up and running within 24 hours through the guy I use who is offering 60% down, the rest in two weeks with hosting at half the price of GAW and the first month free.

3634  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BETARIGS.COM - Cryptocurrency cloud mining - thousands of rigs available! on: May 14, 2014, 04:47:14 PM
My A2 Terminators seem to get rented by people looking to hit new coins on pools such as ipominer.com trouble is the pool hashrate there is notoriously unreliable.

I took a couple of them offline earlier today and manually pointed them at ipominer's multiport and there were numerous occasions when the hashrate would fall through the floor, something that is even reflected in ipominer's own pool hash stats.

Maybe we need a top-ten style list of unreliable pools so that renters know in advance that they're not likely to get a good-looking chart.

Hey Betarigs, add that to your list of shit you gotta get done! Cheesy

your e-peen
What, are you five?

Try speaking like a grown-up and actually contributing to the discussion instead.

Firstly, don't block-quote an entire post, that's a noob move that clutters up threads.

Secondly, way to claim you're not being *that* guy as you post a reply that is exactly that, namely, you being *that* guy.

Calm down, smoke another cig and chill out.
I don't smoke anymore. I quit a number of years ago using Allen Carr's 'Easyway' book. It worked but it was not 'easy', just doable.

See the thing is about all the medical data, with one expert telling you this and one expert telling you that is at the bottom of it it doesn't really matter.
Fucking hell, what an utterly vapid assertion. What do you mean "it doesn't really matter"?

The ONLY thing you need to do to stop smoking is.... stop smoking.
Yeah, that'll be you being *that* guy.

So many pussys in the world now who need a concoction of pharmaceuticals and somebody whispering sweet advice in their ear to man up and achieve a goal you set yourself.
Yup, *that* guy, again.

I dont really care if you agree with me or not your opinion doesn't matter to me. I'll continue my smoke free life either way!
You seemed to care enough about my opinion to attempt to rubbish it. Perhaps you'd like to come at me with something resembling useful facts instead of that jerking knee you seem to suffer from. Careful with that, it appears to cause your foot to end up in your mouth repeatedly.

3637  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quit smoking on: May 13, 2014, 03:34:35 PM
others who used a drug specifically designed to help people quit smoking but they reported some pretty weird side effects.
You are talking about Chantix/Champix which, while it can be extremely effective for some, does often result in some really bizarre mood issues and disturbing dreams for quite a number of people apparently.

That's why I recommended Bupropion, it has zero abuse potential, a wide safety margin and very little in the way of reported side-effects.

Vaping, which is no doubt 'healthier' than regular smoking, is still continuing the nicotine/dopamine reward cycle and, while the harmful effects of a plethora or toxic chemicals that are found in tobacco can be avoided to some degree, it is not as good as actually quitting completely.
3638  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quit smoking on: May 13, 2014, 03:13:43 PM
Dopamine suppressing drugs sound like a one way trip to depression.
LOL, knowledge fail.

Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant.

Bupropion is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, it does not suppress dopamine, quite the opposite, it causes dopamine levels to remain higher for longer, thereby preventing the sudden 'flood' of dopamine hitting the synapses that a cigarette, or the thought of one, would cause.

I'm an earlier commenter and an ex smoker and I'm sorry but the advice of take these drugs and smoke as usual is probably one of the worst Ive ever seen.
Based on what, exactly? That you are well informed about the neurology and pharmacology of the issue or, as I suspect, that your knee just jerked through the monitor because someone suggested something that you don't agree with for no other reason than, well, you just don't.

Yes we know that's what your addicted to but the countless 1000's of people who have quit on will power alone will tell you it can be done.
The plural of anecdote is not 'data'.

Countless thousands may have quit with will-power alone, but countless millions have tried and failed because it *is* fucking hard, solely because of the reasons I have already explained. But, hey, good for you for quitting on will-power alone, just don't be *that* guy who harps on about it endlessly and claims that all a smoker has to do is be like you and just . . .stop.

3639  Other / Off-topic / Re: Quit smoking on: May 13, 2014, 02:44:19 PM
This thread is full of 'advice' from people who have obviously never smoked (just stop, dude!) or those who have tried to quit and know just how bad things get when you deny yourself the thing you are physically, neurologically, psychologically, habitually, addicted to.

Let me explain something to you that non-smokers generally don't know and most smokers aren't aware of either.

Nicotine raises the level of Dopamine in the brain.

Ok, so?

Well, the dopaminergic 'anticipation' and 'reward' trigger is why you can't quit or, if you try, why you can't stop feeling that life would be so much better if you had one, just one, fucking cigarette!

Can I get a 'Hellz Yeah!' from the smoking section? Sorry, I couldn't hear it above the endless coughing and hacking up of phlegm, never mind.

Am I just trolling you at this point, OP? No, I'm going to give you a chance to truly give quitting a go, relatively painlessly too.

Will power alone *might* work, but you never really shake that feeling that a smoke would enhance every and any situation you find yourself in. Your brain has become conditioned to prompt you to light up at numerous 'triggers' in your everyday activities and even the very thought of having a cigarette will cause the neurological response of anticipatory 'reward' to kick in. So much so that if you don't have a smoke you'll experience a mood change of frustration and anger because someone, or something, is stopping you satisfying that compulsion and, by crikey, you're gonna rain down a world of hurt on them/it.

If you remove the dopamine effect from smoking, however, the quitting process is infinitely easier and more manageable, requiring simply the occasional reminder as trigger points crop up that you are no longer a smoker and you will learn new responses to situations, ones that do not require a cigarette.

Zyban - Wellbutrin - Bupropion

All the same thing, namely, the generic drug Bupropion. If you start to take it every day (following suitable advice from your clinician or medical professional), while you continue to smoke as normal, you will actually find that the number of cigarettes you consume each day begins to drop until, when you are at the point of realising you no longer have the physiological compulsion to smoke, you are free to take the final step of actually choosing to not smoke anymore.

Because Bupropion is a dopamine reuptake inhibitor, it generally mutes the usual flood of 'anticipation and reward' dopamine that cigarettes normally elicit in a person, meaning that the, very very real, compulsion is no longer present.

That is how you quit successfully, by making sure that you go about it in a sensible, informed and practical way, dealing with the actual neurology of smoking, rather than beating yourself up for not being 'strong' enough to do it when, the truth is, we are all slaves to conditioning, in many aspects of our lives.

3640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A2 Terminator Scrypt Miner-90MH Results on: May 13, 2014, 05:37:26 AM
What about the power consumption ? Is it as low as stated by the product description ?

There's no reason to believe it isn't, after all, as you know, it is a 28nm unit. I also note that the temperature stats for these units show exceptionally low temps when compared to the volcanic nightmare that Bitcoin miners have to cope with. I was getting concerned about planning for the cooling needs of the Alpha-T order I have coming but, after getting these A2's, I can see it won't be quite so onerous as I feared.
