LOL, it's just some good old-fashioned market manipulation while the volume is low for the holiday weekend.

Thanks Cayce, sure, I'll send you a dm with contact details.

BTW, that wallet looks stunning! Seriously, you guys clearly have the skillz to pay the billz, it just needs to be able to be focused on the most effective project components for progression.

I simply do not get why this coin is sitting in the doldrums price-wise. Is there a back-story somewhere here that has a scammy pile of coins threatening to be dumped on the market by a disgruntled former dev, or something? That's usually the case in these bad-coin-gone-good stories.

P.S. You might want to reconsider using the artist 'Pink' in promos, otherwise you'll have lawyers knocking on your virtual doors.

I'm with surestrike on the gambling issue.

It's too easy to allow gambling sites to spring up and hang off the coat-tails of the coin in order to promote themselves when, the fact is, we're not talking about a game of skill, we're talking about a formula designed to ensure The House is going to win.

Gambling is a mug's game and it encourages intellectual dishonesty, namely, that people start to convince themselves they have lost so much that, surely, they will 'turn things around' shortly and have a big win, which rarely ever comes.

There are too many gambling sites operating in the cryptocurrency realm, trying to align themselves as promoters of cryptocurrency when they are, in fact, simply parasites feeding off it.

Reminder, please ask Mintpal and Poloniex to add LTC/VRC trading pairs. The DRK/LTC (Mintpal) and XMR/LTC (Polo) get quite a bit of action that VRC would benefit from.

3385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: July 02, 2014, 09:49:17 PM
That's what I was suggesting earlier, that there should be LTC/VRC trade partners on the exchanges. Patrick said Cryptsy has that, but Mintpal and Poloniex could do with it given the volume.

Polonex replied to my request for it by saying they'd look into it.

I know there would be a lot of interest from LTC bagholders looking to take cover in a promising currency.

3386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: July 02, 2014, 04:52:02 PM
Don't forget to drop Mintpal and Poloniex an email asking to make a LTC/VRC trade pairing. It will bring across plenty of interest from LTC holders and China LTC miners looking for something more interesting than an ever-deflating currency.

3387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: July 02, 2014, 08:38:44 AM
You'd be surprised I think. The psychological pressure to keep holding LTC when the BTC/LTC rate is persistently sliding can be much greater than when you have a pairing like DRK/LTC which, when the market is moving, allows one to exit into a quick flip of profit.

Even DRK holders have acknowledged that a chunk of their volume is borne of the DRK/LTC pairing.

Besides, there are quite a few LTC miners in China who would probably appreciate being able to easily move into a dynamic coin like VRC.

3388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: July 02, 2014, 08:21:11 AM
How do we go about getting a VRC/LTC pairing on the exchanges?

I think there would be a lot of interest from LTC bagholders wanting to be able to get in to VRC the easy way.
3389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Revamped PinkCoin (PC / PINK) PoS | Multipool | Fundraiser | Anonymous on: June 30, 2014, 02:54:54 PM
Anyone reading through the PINK thread can see there is progress being made.

And anyone reading the Silkcoin thread also 'knew' that progress was being made.

Karpeles is still under the spotlight for his gaffs, had he been the mysterious BTC-E lot, then anyone caught with their trousers down if they shut up shop and absconded would have been laughed at for being so naive to accept an exchange run by anonymous characters. Look at the exchanges that have come and gone with anonymous owners, coins that have come and gone with anonymous devs, ponzi schemes, dodgy scams left right and centre, all with one core similarity, anonymous operators/owners/developers.

Look the Pink devs can choose to stay anonymous if they wish, I thought I made pretty good case for going public some time ago and explained why it would help them immensely on a number of levels. But if you really want to spend this much time and effort justifying their continued anonymity then you're welcome to keep flogging that dead horse. The market isn't going to accept it for much longer, I do know that.

Yeah, well, that's you. If you've got the power to move markets and make this coin supremely valuable then I will stand down on my request for the dev team to release full Bios.

Until then I would ask that you avoid the tiresome references to Satoshi's anonymity, on the basis that the software is open-source, it is not a mystery how it works, just one of who Satoshi was. You start spouting DARPA and you're just part of the tin-foil hat brigade with just as much credibility.

VRC is going gangbusters because the market can trust that they are putting themselves in the firing line. They can make mistakes and all they have to contend with is people getting impatient and a little trollish. The market doesn't collapse on them though, unlike when the devs are anonymous and mistakes lead to rapid escalation of scam accusations until, it turns out, it was a scam and everybody gets burned, again.

Just because you are happy to trust forum avatars, doesn't mean the market is anymore.

3391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 30, 2014, 01:45:14 PM
I realize microsoft enterprise solutions are not secure, could not provide the claim of anonymity from governments and are not nearly as good as open source alternatives. I know they do more than IE, they fail across many markets with their closed source crap.

So let me get this right, you came into this thread claiming something that was incorrect, namely, that the VeriBit service was running on a Debian server, only to be corrected on that fact. But now you want to focus, instead, on rubbishing Microsoft products because . . .what exactly?

Throwing a load of 'Microsoft is shit' around the place, doesn't actually support your claims of wanting to be all objective and reasonable about protecting the crypto community.

You do need to actually specify what the technical flaw is that you are implying is putting us all in danger of losing, what exactly, one Bitcoin or less from a VeriBit transaction were the server to be compromised and that is if anything you are saying is even true.
3392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 30, 2014, 01:35:31 PM
Its analogous to McDonalds in the sense that the pictures on the outside don't represent what is actually being fed to the people on the inside.

. . . . .and there was the exact point your mask slipped.

Now you're just clearly FUDing.

3393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 30, 2014, 01:32:17 PM
These are not analogous at all.

Ok, how about this for comparable analogy for what VeriBit represents to crypto:

McDonalds drive-thru service.

Only, in this case, it's a drive-thru service where you get to keep your money, not in your analogue wallet, but in a digital interest-earning savings account and pay out only that which is needed for your purchase.

3394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 30, 2014, 01:19:36 PM
This is part of the reason I don't understand quite understand the hype around veribit.  People are saying it makes things so much easier, but does it really?

If you don't understand why VeriBit is adding extraordinary value to this coin then that might explain why Cinni is going nowhere. People value convenience. It is an extremely drawn-out and pain-in-ass process to have to transfer coins from your wallet, to an exchange, get a price you want at the time you need it to get BTC and then send those BTC somewhere else.

Instead, you get to keep your BTC in VRC, earning interest while they sleep and, on the occasion you might want to make a small BTC purchase, you can do it in a couple of clicks with no faffing about.

Yes, I know, larger transactions would be better served doing it yourself on an exchange, but people don't spend money in large transactions all the time, they tend to do so in the way that most people spend money, in lots of little transactions, the kind that are perfect for VeriBit.

The wilful nature of the "I don't get why VeriShit is so great!" is starting to wear thin. It is perfectly clear why it is extremely useful a function to have and it is one that is no more centralised than having to send your coins to an Exchange. We all know what can happen to exchanges, so the less money held there, the better.

not to mention people who are going through a divorce or whatever and don't want to give half of their btc to the ex. I can think of several legitimate ways that anonymous transactions apply in the real world.

Just because you might not want to give half of your assets to an ex, it doesn't hold true that you are entitled to withhold half of your assets from them. Do you know what happens to people who refuse to cooperate with court orders? They get found 'in contempt of court', and liable to anything from a fine upwards to prison time, repeatedly, until they do cooperate.

The same goes for all the bleating about 'der gubmint' coming to 'take away' all that you possess by way of their grossly unfair system known as 'taxation'!!!1!1111111!!! Yes governments are predominantly inefficient bloated organisations that waste a large amount of the income collected from the people, but that does not entitle you to arbitrarily decide that you are going to refuse to pay taxes and, instead, will 'hide' all your monies in anonymous crypto. Did I explain what happens to people who refuse to cooperate with court orders?

If you hate your government and all they represent, do something about it by changing the system from within, not by fucking the rest of us over by your antics costing more expenditure (of tax monies received) and man-hours to deal with.

The US preponderance for paranoid and pot-stirring media pundits does it's people no favours when it comes to getting them to understand that 'The Government' is not the enemy. The enemy is the enemy.

3397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | PoS - Dynamic Interest | SMS | ANON on: June 30, 2014, 12:24:45 PM
I think most of you are wrong about anonymous features.

Because you're not paying attention to what is being said. People don't generally seek full-time anon transactions but they like to have the option available as and when they might wish to utilise it.

That's all that is being said. There is little mileage in promoting a coin based solely on it being 100% anonymous 100% of the time, except for the type of people who 'need' that and, let's be honest here, they aren't going to be bringing legitimacy to a coin project that will elevate it to being seen as a serious contender in the mainstream.

This is why VRC is gaining rapid traction, not because it can do anon, but because it does more than anon, while still being, at it's core, a p2p PoS interest-bearing currency.

Does anybody have BiO information on the creator of Bitcoin?

Yeah, thanks for the useful contribution to the issue there. We already discussed the dev team going public earlier in the thread, you know, before you turned up, apologies if we didn't wait for your arrival.

So, two points, firstly, the Pinkcoin team already acknowledged it would be a good idea for a number of reasons and, secondly, Bitcoin didn't gain wider adoption until non-anonymous professionals got involved in developing it further after Satoshi's exit stage-left.

It has already been mentioned that VeriBit is limited to small transactions, not market-moving dumps.

And if you pay your bills from an exchanger, there will be no possibility to track down a real human behind a payment.

Oh, wow. You are in for a hell of a shock if that's what you think.
