381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / [WTS] My tokens to BTC on: June 05, 2018, 05:20:11 PM

382  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's suppose that Bitcoin became universal (used everywhere you go) on: June 05, 2018, 04:23:24 PM
That would be the dream. Many bitcoin or crypto users would want this to happen and would prefer this kind of payment system. It’s going to be easy and convenient for them if this were the case. As of now, there are even btc users who are looking for places where they can use and purchase with their btc like airplane tickets, retail stores or places online because this will be convenient for them. If this somehow turns into reality and their won’t be the need for high transaction fees and long confirmation times then it would be like living the dream.
383  Economy / Speculation / Re: The whole market is experiencing slump in last few days. on: June 05, 2018, 04:06:12 PM
Yes, we all have seen some kind of drastic price fall from last few days. As a feature of financial instrument I think this is not so unnatural. And so I do believe it will be back shortly. Your opinion will be highly appreciated.
Yes, we are experiencing a price fall and many are getting worried and again the people who are against bitcoin are taking the opportunity again to make negative comments such as bitcoin is going to fade and it will die soon. Only a fool will listen to this negative comments that they are making but then again this has an effect to many investors especially the new ones.

It’s normal for FUDs to appear at instances like these. Then a bunch would bandwagon and leave a bunch of negative comments even while they don’t know what they’re saying. There are many who are gullible who believe these kinds of comments even if they are credible nor should not have any bearing. It’s sad that there are still many who get victimized and affected by this.
384  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Big Whales doing day trade with bitcoin? on: June 05, 2018, 03:58:11 PM
At first i was just thinking that it is normal because there are many investors and some of them had sold their bitcoin due to their needs or whatsoever reason they sell their bitcoin though the price for now is not that good for selling. Yet, It has been almost 2 weeks when i saw bitcoin market price moves up and down and i think there must be a big whale doing day trade. What can you say about the falling and rising of bitcoin market price lately?

Well we all know that whales are very powerful, we even speculate that they can move and shake the market with their huge sell ro bull order so its really possible that they are also doing some day trading but I doubt that they are doing though in huge volumes.

Whales have shit loads of bitcoin, so for them to day trade is easy, however, maybe in a hundred of bitcoins a day is good to them to make easy money though so I assume that they are not doing it in thousand but perhaps around 50-100BTC only.

I still think that it’s hard for whales to day trade even when they have tons of bitcoin to dump. The price of bitcoin is constantly changing in a day so it may be hard for them to have the right timing. They can turn the tides to their favor though since dumping can make the price go down, and they can choose to buy however I believe that this doesn’t always follow. It may be possible that there are times when they dump and the price would remain the same.
385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Benefits of gambling? Yes - it exists! on: June 05, 2018, 09:40:39 AM
This won't help mate as most of the people here will have an expected feed back. Although we already know that there's benefit in gambling but otherwise we don't have the same feathers.
"Gambling is not good" , "gambling is harmful" etc.
No doubt gambling is bad, gambling is harmful and there are many bad effects of gambling on the whole. Gambling is beneficial for those who are experts and they know the tricks to win the bet. They can make big money in seconds, while other who has no or very little experience of gambling can lose all their money. Gambling is good only for experts.
Except maybe you are playing poker and which still do come with a bit of luck, there is actually nothing or no one called experts in gambling. The only thing that makes you a sane gambler is when you know you to use your reasoning alongside your gambling activity.

Those who know the possibilities of losing in gambling is pretty high, usually do not try to gain something from it and the only thing they can consider gaining is fun while paying for it, unless they just get lucky to win something good and with that kind of mentality, it helps them to not lose focus.

There are those who play for entertainment and in a way, it may be considered as "gain". It gives them some sort of fulfillment or sense of satisfaction after having won a few times. Even while it is risky or that there is a high chance of losing your money, the fulfillment one gains from gambling is beneficial for others. Many keep on pointing out how bad gambling is and gambling is usually associated to negativity but we can see some benefits from it by looking at it with a different perspective.
386  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What are the alternatives for Bitcointalk? on: June 05, 2018, 09:07:10 AM
Several forums similar to Bitcointalk have existed, but none had succeeded. I'm not sure about the correct url, but it is for the altcoins. In that it has got the same form as our bitcointalk.org, such as the ranking, merit, badges, etc. Even some bounty campaigns too were running.

That is really great mate. If there is option to earn money with the other forum newbies who is looking to earn the tokens via bounty will be looking to earn the bitcoin and ethereum if there is option for campaigning there bro.

I have came across many forum and places to earn the money but none of forum will be able to various option to earn the money like doing in this forum mate. You please share the link of the forum you mentioned here.

I once saw a forum full of bounties where various ICOs and bounty campaigns were being promoted their however it eventually failed. Since most of its users were bounty hunters, there was not much discussion happening. There are actually many forums that try to replicate bitcointalk.org and even copy the same interface even though it's too outdated however not many succeed because they don't get the same audience nor do they attain enough users.
387  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Whales and pump and dumps have destroyed this market on: June 04, 2018, 03:01:20 PM
I knew it because i already experience it all the time. Whales are so selfish because they only think for themselves not for the sake of most bitcoin users.

Are seriously thinking that anyone else here is less selfish? Whales are no more selfish than the rest of the pack, they just happen to be extremely wealthy. Even those who hold Bitcoin for long term with the hope of a new brave future do that because *they* want to become new money, new wealthy elite. They don't give a fuck about you personally, your well-being, or even Bitcoin itself as soon as it stops being instrumental in achieving their goals, whatever the latter might be.

"They call me new money, say I have no class, I'm from the bottom, I came up too fast".

Exactly, everyone here is selfish and takes care of its own interests. You wouldn't act any different if you were in the wales position. But the world generaly is functioning that way not only crypto world.
You can't blaim wales for the fact that are realy wealthy and you are not. And you can't blaim them for destroying the market, they are not the only elements there.

Unfortunately, some people’s selfishness affect others. While their actions enrich themselves, it makes it unfair to others. But it’s true that we can’t blame the whales because almost everyone have their own selfish motives. In fact, a majority of the users here joined for the bounties and in a way their actions also affect the other users. The world is like that and it’s filled with selfishness.
388  Economy / Economics / Re: [ASK] How are you going to handle too much debt? on: June 03, 2018, 03:30:35 PM
The first is that debt is not good for one's life, debt can torture a person and make his life become uneasy.
out of debt because it will result in life itself and pay immediately if you have a lot of debt that can be free from debt.
This is an aspect that people do not really talk about that much, not only the interest rates that you need to pay from your debt are going to kill your economic future if you do not how to manage your debt, the stress you are going to suffer for the next years or decades is probably going to deteriorate your health considerably, I have seen some people age ten years in 2 years due to the huge size of their debts while I have a very relaxed life thanks to the fact I hate being indebted.

Fortunately for others like you, they don’t have to get a loan in order to survive. Some have no choice but to get a loan first. As much as possible, we must avoid having debts otherwise this will just be a burden or a bother. If you’re financially capable enough to live without having to borrow money, you’d be better off. Establishing a financial plan will help out in handling one’s debts.
389  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-31] Crypto Learning Centers and Courses on the Rise in Japan, Thailand, on: June 02, 2018, 01:14:30 PM
It would be great if in all the countries of the world they had these cryptos Learning Centers, because if people have deep knowledge about cryptos they will have another vision and will not associate cryptos with crime, money laundering and ponzi scheme. Yes, it is true that there are cases where some cryptos have been used for criminal acts, but that does not mean that the object of creating crypto is to commit crimes... because cryptos do not commit crimes, it is people who use cryptos to commit crimes .

It’s going to be hard to get rid of the stigma there is that cryptos are associated to scams and crimes because of the numerous incidents that happen. Unless there is proper information dissemination, people won’t fully understand cryptocurrencies. Having this kind of courses will enable the future generation to properly apply cryptocurrencies instead of misunderstanding them. Let’s hope other countries will have the same initiative.
390  Other / Meta / Re: Can't we make a dedicated space to sig campaigns on: June 01, 2018, 03:11:34 PM
What you suggest is nearly impossible to implement because after the punishment of some managers some other will come in and this would be an endless neverending loop. I agree that if we limit this then the risk is pretty high for signatures to stop existing so maybe I am suggesting something too extreme. In such case we need more boards like Ivory Tower.

Why? You can discuss what ever you want in Ivory Tower. We don't need to over complicate things. Restrictions need to be put into place, and I'm usually against restrictions. But, it does need to happen if we are going to control the current system. I think implementing a rank based restriction in the bounty section for creating threads is a good way to go. This could then work in conjunction with the above suggestion by hilariousandco. Which would mean there wouldn't be a endless loop of bounty managers as they would be banned/punished whatever, and would have to rank up their accounts to do it again.

Having a rank based restriction sounds good. Instead of allowing almost anyone to be qualified to manage a campaign, there should be some control over it otherwise the shitposting/spamming will just continue. If that is implemented, some day bounty managers will be limited. IMO, the Ivory Tower already suffices and there’s no need to open up more boards. The forum is not a total loss - there are still a few threads worthwile reading with a few constructive posts here in there but it’s a needle in a haystack.

392  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-31] Bitcoin's Need For Electricity Is Its 'Achilles Heel' on: May 31, 2018, 09:25:30 AM
Indeed, the need for massive electricity consumption has been a problem for bitcoin. At this rate, bitcoin mining is not very sustainable however bitcoin needs it. There's no control over the use of electricity because the government controls it and miners are at their mercy. Even with mining equipment advancing to keep up with the demand, the electricity consumption remains to be a problem for miners because it doesn't get any cheaper. It may be likely that bitcoin's need for electricity will be its "weakness" and may eventually kill it unless a solution is made. Other than being a weakness, this huge electricity consumption is also very bad for the environment.
393  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Union Bank and ETH Co-founder to fix financial inclusivity issue in Philippines on: May 30, 2018, 06:18:49 PM
I am really not aware about the actual scenario of Philippines' banking industry. So when the article said the minimum balance required is $2,000, I gone ahead with the same understanding. So now my question is, if the banking system is accessible to everyone and a bank account can be opened with only $40, I don't see any reason for the remittance centers to exist.

In my country India, I can open a free bank account without any minimum balance requirement. So here I don't see a huge scope for remittance centers to operate. As a result we only have big corporate remittance companies like western Union, Moneygram and Paypal operating in India. They usually don't have much standalone shops set up for them, instead they operate within the Banks. They set up their small kiosk within a bank branch to facilitate the remittance.

So I believe you can understand the question here. If the banks are accessible to everyone and don't bring any financial burden to their citizens, why Philippines have a lot of remittance companies operating in this country. There must have a been a gap somewhere which I am trying to understand.

Here is one article about the issue:

https://www.balikbayad.ph/blog/banks-vs-other-remittance-providers-which-is-better-in-money-transfer/

tldr; they offer better services in some cases, and while that is a knock on banks, it has nothing to do with financial inclusion or lack thereof (because most people do have access to an account). It also has nothing to do with banks imposing any kind of financial burden for citizens, as bolded out, because this is free market at work; remittance companies do small transfers better, and are thus the service of choice for most of the working class.

Bitcoin and other crypto would be a better choice if it weren't for their volatility, and it could even be argued that it's better regardless. That's more of a testament as to how revolutionary Bitcoin and crypto is though, rather than the narrative that banks are oppressive, because they're definitely not in this case.

Perhaps one other reason why most people choose to use remittances vs banks is because of its accessibility. Remittances may be found almost anywhere - from malls to almost any corner of a street. As compared to banks, remittances are more accessible especially for those who live in the provinces. Also, the fees are lower so people opt for the remittances especially since many make transfers from province to cities or overseas. It also does not have that much requirements as compared to opening up an account in a bank. The citizens choose it for the convenience.
394  Other / Meta / Re: Almost automated managing of +60 social bounties at the same time? Tagging? on: May 30, 2018, 06:08:06 PM
Why not then make a new additional rank for example : Bounty Manager, like the Copper Member. So only those ranked ones will be allowed to post in the bounty section.
There should be a procedure to apply for such position, based on different criteria, maybe same as the Merit sources today.
This will reduce the fake and scam projects and the spam too. Of course it makes everything more centralized.
I guess is too much time and work implementing those changes, and it will be easier just to remove the bounty section but, it's all about compromises.

This doesn't really do anything about them managing the campaign though. All this does is puts a payment barrier for those who want to become a bounty manager. They could still pay the fee, and not moderate it. That's assuming your going to treat it like the Copper Membership.

If you are going to have some sort of criteria like the applicants of merit sources then I'm not sure how this would work either. What sort of data would they have to present to get accepted?

I don’t think there should be a fee in order to acquire a rank of “Bounty Manager”. It should probably be earned through trust or sort of like how merits are earned. The mods or DT members should be able to give them some points of some sort which establishes them as worthy to become a bounty manager because they are able to do their job well.

However, even if a system like that will be established, not all will choose to hire an “established” campaign/bounty manager for their campaigns especially if it will cost a high fee. It would be cheaper if they hired someone who offered low fees even if they are not well known, so long as its for a lower price. Quality post may not be so important for them because their aim is advertisement and promotion - a job that may be done through spamming.

But, if the community chooses to solely participte in campaigns managed by the “established” campaign managers because of their well known trust and integrity, then its possible that the allowance of anyone becoming a bounty manager will slowly dissipate. Quality posters will be known as a great way to advertise a signature because it has been payed for good money. Also, a good and quality post is always more attractive than a shitty/non-sensical one. Once a quality post is encountered, the likeliness for the signature to be clicked is increased and those seeking to run a campaign would now want to hire quality posters and not just users who post numerously.
395  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How can online casinos Pay it forward? on: May 30, 2018, 03:56:47 PM
This is the most interesting post I’ve seen on this board in months. Crypto casinos make loads of money, you only have to see their crypto addresses and stats.

You talk about online casinos operating without licenses but I think most of them do, especially online fiat ones. What happens with they crypto ones is that they get a license in a tax haven and accept people from regulated countries, where they should get another license to do so.

I’m not really sure how they would engage in pay it forward activities, but I think if the idea gets spread some of them will do. Helping to promote bitcoin and cryptos would be giving back to crypto society part of their profits as being grateful, which, in turn, could lead more people to crypto casinos as well.

It’s likely that most online casinos don’t have licenses so OP’s suggestion as plausible and also beneficial for both parties.

Perhaps a good way to engage in the pay it forward activities would be to make the participants promote crypto in some way such as sharing in facebook or tweeting. In a way, this would contribute to spreading awareness about crypto or bitcoin.
396  Economy / Economics / Re: I almost lost my rock solid regular job because of crypto on: May 30, 2018, 03:38:39 PM
Great advice. A great majority have been blinded by the thought that they will get rich through crypto and this has made them prioritize less what is important like their jobs or families. Some even sacrifice their assets or savings just to be able to invest. It’s good that OP was able to maintain his job, especially since he has mentioned that he relies on it and it has made him live a comfortable life.

While it is fun to inform ourselves about crypto, we must remember to manage our time properly otherwise our other priorities will suffer. There are other far more important things like our job, and family even which we should spend more time on.
397  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-30] Philanthropist's Love Letter to BTC: Why $80M in BTC Was Given Away on: May 30, 2018, 03:24:39 PM
It doesn't matter where the money are going in reality, whether part of it is brutally stolen by a fund management or distributed among the fund officers in the form of huge salaries (they especially like to do the latter), but this guy, Pine, is a great person. This is a real philanthropy with the aim to help people in need (he stays anonymous), and not that self-promotional bs, which many rich folks are doing these days. Also, he shows to the world that Bitcoin is not only used by bad guys (this notion btw stops many from using BTC).

I agree, and I hope that this would help spread positivity for bitcoin. With the many scams these days, it has made other people think that bitcoin is associated to illegal activity. Motives like this would make even fellow btc users like us to realize that there is a bigger picture with the use of btc other than the hope of getting rich in the future or as a mode of transfer or a payment system.
398  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-28] Blockchain Will Be Adopted by Every Bank on: May 29, 2018, 04:58:18 PM
Words such as those coming from someone like Frank Abagnale would really mean that the blockchain is revolutionary. He must have been the master of frauds for he was able to make his way through a number of professions and fished millions of money through deceit. He was then hired to countercheck possible false checks because of his expertise. Through the ages, the system of security has changed and now that blockchain has emerged, it would truly change the game even which Frank Abagnale was a master of.
399  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Exchangers and new regulations. on: May 29, 2018, 04:44:59 PM
IMO, these new regulations are not so straining as they seem. These may even help reduce fictitious accounts and identities which may constitute fraud. It may be alarming for some especially for those who value their freedom with the use of crypto but these new regulations do not constrain too much its users. I would much prefer to have a secure and safe system rather than participate in a world where criminals are free to run about.
400  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Versus Traditional Gambling on: May 29, 2018, 04:09:40 PM
I like online gambling for sure. It's convenient compared to casinos where you have to suffer traffic and the danger of getting robbed if a syndicate just waiting for a jackpot winner to leave the place.

Rightly said. In case of traditional gambling, you will always be worried about your money being stolen. There is no such issue with online gambling provided you have used strong passwords and have installed good anti-virus on your computer. Most of the online casinos have advanced protection against hackers and thus your information is also private and confidential there.

I beg to differ. There is still the possibility for you to lose your earnings in online gambling. It’s possible to have scams or phishing schemes in the form of these online gambling sites, so it’s not yet 100% safe and secure as compared to traditional gambling. It may still be susceptible to hackers even with the presence of strong security and protection. Needless to say, nothing is 100% safe and there’s the possibility of losing your money anywhere.
