381  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Man Won $51,000 in Sports Betting With a Bet of Just $1.072 on: November 13, 2022, 05:16:44 PM
Hoping that the man behind this will learn how to spend His winnings and not just to gamble it all again, this is so much value in that country and for sure , he will leave a millionaire for years if knows how to budget the money.

In Nigeria where the bettor comes from, that winning is huge and it is capable of changing the lives of many. How do people even win such a huge amount of cash with very small bets? Buying slightly above a dollar to win $50,100 is a one time in a chance something. But the problem is that the winner is likely to splash it on frivolities, on drinks and women. It is the usual thing with people who win jackpots. Nothing anyone tells him that will make him not spend on this things. Some of them will tell you it is once in a life time experience they want to have with all that cash.
382  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think Father's don't Love their children? on: November 13, 2022, 04:25:31 PM
What they don't understand is that a mother and father's type of love can be different, never inferior.
This is the answer. Women and men show their love differently. We can express our love better than most men can and it easily seen,

Correct. Women love mostly from their emotions. That is what makes the difference. And this is why men who show emotions in love are looked at as women. The society believes that men are not supposed to show love emotions or cry in public.

It is not true that husbands sacrifice because of love. Most husbands do not do all that you described because of love or that they are still in love with their wives. They do it out of responsibility and commitment to the institution called family.
383  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: November 13, 2022, 02:38:52 PM
A presidential candidate is required by law to participate in a US presidential debate, but this is not the case in Nigeria.

Why Nigeria no copy that one from USA? If na to steal money them go be expert for that one. All this crooks in politics want to make this country unbearable to live in and it will not work for them.

nobody cares, the are the organizers anyway.

Chairman, I care o. E good as Obi deh attend those debate. Initially I was annoyed and wanted him to stop since Mr shaky shaky Tinubu and Atiku no deh attend face to face. But now, if them like let them not attend, make Peter Obi continue.
384  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing $350,000 because of a friend, what would you do? on: November 12, 2022, 06:39:28 AM
I wouldn't advise for a brawl to breakout, but lessons learned from mistakes as this is one to either expose your friend in true light and for you to know what you can endure.
I would advice myself next time and follow my heart.

If anyone has a brawl with a friend because he lost a bet, it shows how immature he is. Friendship should not be traded for money no matter what happens. What if he had won the bet would he be quarrelling with his friend? No. The bettor should take responsibility for his loss and not put the blame on someone else. Adults take responsibility when things go bad and not trade blames.
385  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Were we just kids or have times changed? on: November 12, 2022, 05:09:42 AM
or have things become really bad and times changed that one million of our national currency does not have value as much as it used to have?

This is the answer. It is not because you looked at the amount with the eye of a kid. Things are now very bad with inflation making our local currency almost useless. Cost of living is very high that there is not much 1million can even buy in my country today. But elsewhere, maybe in the USA, Canada, England that 1million is a huge amount of money.
386  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: November 12, 2022, 04:45:17 AM
Is it constitutional for presidential candidates to attend a random town hall or debate hosted by a media individual or house? It is not; everyone has the right to decline such an invitation for their own safety; politics is a dirty game with a high rate of ambush and assassination; these men could be kidnapped or killed in the name of non-constitutional debate.

Na because na Nigeria where everybody deh do wetin them like. If na abroad, the candidate chances of winning the election go drop badly because the people go see am as an insult not to attend. Those presidential candidates know they can not try it outside this country. Tinubu and Atiku are scared of the media, nothing else. No be about their security because them get better security. They are empty headed and that is why they avoid simple debate. May God not allow any of those two rule this country because e go real hell.

I recall Sen. Ben Bruce with all his videos, attending all debates, winning election, and becoming one of the worst Senators representing Bayelsa state in his 8 years.

Omo na true, o. Where that twitter senator deh now self. The man just became irrelevant after he was not allowed to go back.
387  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dealing with food waste on: November 11, 2022, 02:15:02 PM
Where I come from, throwing food away is very frowned upon. We prepare only as much food as we need; we put only as much on our plates as we'll eat; and if leftovers happen we eat it the next day.

It makes sense that way. Those who act like they should throw food away so as to act rich are ignorant of what life is all about. There are people who intentionally order for more than what they can eat just to show that they can afford it, and then only eat half of what they have ordered and leave the rest on the plae and leave. Whenever I come across people like that I laugh at their foolishness.
388  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Only Africans can develop Africa on: November 11, 2022, 01:46:07 PM
Africans should be always independent, whether economically or politically. Don't worry, they will do just fine.

Africa's problem is not that it is dependant on foreign countries economically or politically. Its problem is the corruption that continent has allowed to grow among its citizens. Corruption has killed Africa. It lives with us now and those at the leadership position are not willing to do anything about it. It even benefits them because there is nobody to call them to questioning. In my country, nobody takes any indictment of public office holders seriously because we know they will let them go once money exchanges hand. The legal system is so corrupt that criminals are let off the hook if they can offer bribe money to judges.
389  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is money for survival or luxury? on: November 11, 2022, 11:49:33 AM
That's why inflation is a terrifying thing for aging people.

I guess someone like you will have alot of bitcoin and bitcoin is immune to inflation. It should be appreciating as times goes on. There is not much you should be worried about.

Money is for both survival and luxury. But survival comes first because one has to eat first before exhibiting themselves which is where luxury comes in. Survival makes up the three basic needs of man which includes food, shelter and clothing.
390  Economy / Economics / Re: Always ask bargain for prices never pay full specially now on: November 11, 2022, 06:21:03 AM
We are in a period of increasing recession expectations. In such periods, demand decreases in the markets and real buyers become stronger.

People will tell you that whatever decreases in demand during recession will not be food stuffs because people must eat whether the situation is fine or not. We get to find people on the streets begging for food, and nothing else. It is reasonable because everyone want to stay alive and if they do not have money for food, begging becomes an option for them. No one begs you on the streets for money to buy gadgets or cars but food. Food demand does not decrease.
391  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: November 11, 2022, 05:49:57 AM
I only used forum rank for first and second place. BTW, that was the only month we had two members with the same post count in first and second place. Isn't that a reasonable criterion?

What of if the two weh come first come be the same rank, wetin them go take differentiate them?

As for the discussion on reward, poll dun dey up as usual for everyone to cast their vote while staying anonymous. E belike people no wan contribute as e go belike dem be bad belle if dem no support the motion so to make things easier, make we see where the majority stand.

Am not sure na the reason of who them support go make them no vote there. After all shebi two people voted the shaky shaky hand man of agbado kingdom with poisoned holy communion. The thing go fit be say people no deh aware say poll deh up there. So e go good to they remind members from time to time like this weh you do am now. Thank you.
392  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria (Naija) on: November 10, 2022, 06:36:04 PM

That N800+ per dollar weh them put for Emefiele head supposed enter N1k+ before next year. That man na the worst among past CBN governors. No be worst because of how the naira take fall yakata but because of how him take allow politicians dey use am. You can imagine a sitting governor of the central bank running for a political election as presido. The old man no get shame at all. Him be wetin we deh call agbaya oloriburuku.

Also how una go feel if we put small reward for this monthly stats so, like only the first position gets a reward? Like $10 or 10Merit or both kind of encouragement.

Your suggestion deh good. To prevent spamming weh fit enter am, the cash reward go deh cancelled. Make e bi only something like merit and the merit go be through post review. And the review no go be on just posts weh the person make for this thread. Infact make e no even concern posts here. But na who want to deh put the merit self since na only one merit source we get for here?
393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We Feel All The Emotions When We Gamble on: November 10, 2022, 02:18:26 PM
But feeling depressed is not good. Punters should look for means to gamble but avoid depression. This can be done with risking the amount you can lose and not think about it if lost but still feeling happy.

No matter how small the gamblers should gamble from the money he will not miss, when he loses he will still feel the loss. Money is the major thing that can mess up our emotions. And that is why we feel happy whenever we have more of it but sad when we are broke. It does not matter how small we place on bet. The mood change is even worse for beginner gamblers who think there is a short to making more.
394  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Power Or Money ? on: November 10, 2022, 02:07:08 PM

But there is power that is far greater than money, and doesn't have anything to do with money. For example, there are a reasonable number of people who have used tons of money to get cured from cancer. But the doctors couldn't do it. Then, the people got well naturally.

The power of nature is different than and more powerful that money.

That is the supernatural power showing itself when it matters most. That is God doing it. That is what you described there. I do not know what faith you practise or what your beliefs are but am telling you that such illness as cancer does not heal by itself naturally like that. There must be a super imposition on the natural for that to happen outside medical cure.
395  Economy / Economics / Re: Always ask bargain for prices never pay full specially now on: November 10, 2022, 12:09:48 PM
Now it's time to ask prices to go Lower.
Times like this i go shop or anywhere i always say' it's economic down turn can i get cheaper price.
I allready called to my landlord to make my rent much cheaper.
It's times of economic bad times so now you can ask cheaper prices of anything always.

The high cost of goods and services is everywhere. The world is experiencing bad economy as inflation continues to damage the standard of our living. You asking for cheaper prices from sellers is not bad but will they accept to reduce price since they too will claim they are also hit by the inflation. Everybody is looking for a way to make profit. Most landlords are even increasing rents and you are talking of begging yours to reduce it. You must have a good landlord if he agrees to reduce rent for you.
396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing $350,000 because of a friend, what would you do? on: November 10, 2022, 11:42:27 AM
If it didn't happen that he won this can go as far as causing some problem for the both pals when the bettor will think the friend should think he would be crazy betting with that huge amount and couldn't change the bet. He may say he was high while doing the betting that he should know. What I'm saying is just that he is angry because it happen to be a win but losing he could have realized what help got from the friend.

Eventhough Op said this was just an drama, it can still happen in real life. If that type of thing has not happened before but was only acted, nothing says it can not still happen in future. And you are correct about what you said when it comes to our reactions to winning and losing money in betting. If we stay out or bet small and the bet loses, we are happy. But if we did not play a bet and it wins, we feel sad. This is to show you that man always loves winning but forgetting that when you win, someone loses.
397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: SOCCER TIPS for the Weekend! on: November 07, 2022, 11:53:54 AM

60% win rate is still above average and that is profit for anyone achieving that. You got it twice and if that continues this thread is about to be flooded with excitement from soccer bettors. But I found out that there is no inclusion of any league in Africa in your predictions. Is there any reason you skipped that?
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can we see a huge rise in the price of Dogecoin ? on: November 07, 2022, 05:34:38 AM
We don't know but if he really likes Dogecoin to the point of accepting it for his companies, he should have done that long time ago with Tesla and Space X and with any other ventures that he got.
I'm doubting that he'll be accepting directly payments with Dogecoin but it's likely that he'll allow some third party services that will be integrated with Twitter to accept payments in doge or any other crypto.

It can be that maybe Elon Musk wants to keep a different profile with Tesla and other companies he runs from Twitter, that is likely why he will accept Dogecoin as means of payment on his Twitter platform but not on all others. He was twitting about Dogecoin long before he bought Twitter and I do not see why he will want to stop now. On the announcement that he had bought it, price of Dogecoin went up and gave holders a new faith in the coin. It is a good investment to buy that coin now as I do not see it dumping. Buy, wait and sell when you think price has increased enough.
399  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Smokers are liable to die young on: November 07, 2022, 03:05:17 AM
Yeah that's why I never said smokers have possibility to die young but yes smoking have its life damaging effects that no one can deny. The lung damage ,the smokers cough they are real and visible symptoms in all smokers.

People who are non smokers also die from damage of the lungs and other related diseases. Diseases sometimes come even when you have a clean lifestyle. I do not know why it is so. Children dying from lung cancers, are we to say they are smokers too? Will you will say they inhaled dangerous substance? Smoking is a lifestyle just like living in a skyscraper is. It does not mean everyone will fall off the building even if one jumps through the window and dies from it before your eyes, there will still be people who will not be scared of living there.
400  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is centralized, can we trust it anymore? on: November 07, 2022, 02:34:37 AM
Although, I also see the ethereum fee has decreased, but I think it is because of the price drop and the transaction in the market is not too congested, so the gas fee has decreased a lot, not because of the upgrade.

Ethereum transaction fees dropped because of the upgrade and not because of any drop in market price. We know what it used to be when Ethereum was less than $500 and how the fee was crazy. Even when projects, both old and new, started moving to the Binance Smartchain contract, Ethereum fee still remained high and was killing it gradually until this upgrade happened. If only you have an idea of how many projects that abandoned ERC because of that fee problem.
