381  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] 2.1 MH/s Scrypt Miner | 7 Day Lease on: January 18, 2014, 09:46:41 PM
I am trying to get in touch with the seller - I paid, and I asked him to mine coye at first.  I have however since pm'd him and asked him to switch to LTC in my pool... Haven't heard back... that said he hasn't logged on in a few days so hopefully he is just busy.

Starting to think I got scammed yet again.  This time for a lot more then I meant to spend, but at least it was just 0.2 btc.  Actually meant to bid .02 so I am a double idiot here.

Anyway, the guy hasn't logged on in days so I really am starting to think I got screwed.  No more sending first for me, period.

Oh well.

Been interested in bitcoins for like two months... does that make me a newbie?

I'll take it for .13 - how do you want to do the transaction?

Well, we haven't officially hired the private eye yet... but at this point, baring nmat not agreeing to a very reasonable cost, I think we are already getting tons of good information.   BTW - if anyone needs an investigator in the San Jose area, I think I can recommend one now.

There should be some fireworks in this thread in the next few days or weeks. Smiley
385  Economy / Services / Re: (WTB) Or I guess hire a private investigator in Newark CA... on: January 18, 2014, 12:33:32 AM
Bump. No one interested?

I got a quote today from an actual private detective of between 150 and 500 depending on if he needs to use his "government contacts" to get his employment info...

387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Charitable Giving Question - Not Request for funds on: January 17, 2014, 03:09:52 PM
I would prefer if charitable organizations in general came on board with bitcoin.  Then we would all have the freedom to donate to and support what we choose.  I am not a fan of democracy (mob) rule of my money, that's one of the reasons why I am into bitcoin to begin with, to get the 'controllers' out of all our pockets!

Mtnminer

That's an interesting point.  What if the focus of the charity was to actually go out and get more charitable organization to accept bitcoins?
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Charitable Giving Question - Not Request for funds on: January 17, 2014, 02:36:52 PM
If someone who was reputable were to start a serious charitable organization that was bitcoin based (or any coin for that matter) and had a crowd sourced giving schedule... (meaning the forums help decide who we give the money to) would that be something people think they would give to?

Obviously there wouldn't be 100% decisions made by the forum or reddit, or whatever site we setup where people give and vote... The board of the charity would still have to vet the recipients... but I mean, how many people here think they would donate to an effort like that.

I am not looking to collect any bitcoin or anything here... this isn't that kind of sob story... As a matter of fact, the story is pretty short.

LYME DISEASE FUCKING BLOWS

I don't think any disease is particularly enjoyable.

Shame this wasn't a begging thread. I donate to Lyme diseases sufferers  Grin.

Haha!  Thanks!  I don't really need the donation thought.  I promise if somehow my medical bills overwhelm me and my insurance I'll come back and ask, but I really don't need financial help right now.

Again though, thanks for the comment.

You got it from a tick? My father had it, yeah it sux but there are a lot worse things you can get.

For sure that's the truth man.  I'm just bitching and moaning because I am herxing right now.

Huge setback for the Internet
But lat word has hopefully not yet been spoken

I have the same initial reaction, but I am not really sure it is a setback... I mean, it is to a degree... but wouldn't it be cool to be able to stream much better and higher quality?  I mean it'll cost a bit, but whatever... I is a setback for torrents one would think though.

Hope things work out for you!~ Never understood why people scam, its just ridiculous

Danny

Thanks man.  The truth is, I only lost $2,000 nmat lost more like $30,000 on this deal so really, I feel much worse for him.  I do however plan to make an example of Andy.  I am going to stay 100% with in the law, and yet still manage to make his life miserable until he makes good to both nmat and myself.

Someone needs to do this... scammers can't keep getting away with it and I am going to do this all publicly and transparently so that hopefully other people can learn how to deal with people that scam them.

Also I want to find out who Andy works for so I can call people in his office and let them know who they are dealing with.

If anyone is interested.

Andy - I know you're reading this.  I am serious, I am going to cause you a serious headache for what you have done.  But you can still get out of this.  Send me my money and pay nmat or return his coins and we can just let this go.  I don't want to have to get involved with your life, but I will because someone needs to make an example out of people who take advantage of others... but again I will drop it if you make it right.
395  Economy / Services / (WTB) Or I guess hire a private investigator in Newark CA... on: January 16, 2014, 05:41:35 PM
In reference to this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404359.0

I would like to hire a private investigator.  I am in contact with a few professional services in the area but wanted to know if there is anyone around Newark CA who would like to perhaps bid on the contract.

What I need is to verify Andy Lee and his home address.   I need a photograph of him, and his home.  And I need to know where he works.

My plan is to inform his neighbors and his employer and coworkers that he is a thief and a scammer.  Also I need the information to hire a process server to serve him with court papers.

Thanks...

I am thinking about getting a private eye to confirm the name, address, and situation with Andy and Kim.  Also I want to find out who Andy works for so I can call people in his office and let them know who they are dealing with.

398  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying up to $20,000 // DAILY worth of Bitcoin. Paying with CASH or SILVER! on: January 15, 2014, 08:26:06 PM
I didn't do a deal here, but I would like to comment on the business model.

First off, the negative... these guys want to sell over stamp and buy under... so if you're a oppertunistic seller or buyer, this probably won't work for you....

Okay, the positives....

This is a totally viable business model.  I don't personally have any history so I can't offer my assurances that they are not gonna screw you over... but my feeling is no.  These guys seem to have figured out that they can make a viable business by being an exchange for those w/o the ability to deal with anyone but coinbase.  I am not trying to be too glowing here, but my gut tells me these guys are real and running a real business.

Word of caution to the OP:  Please make sure you are registered as a money transmitter, or msb, or that you deal mostly in cash and silver and are careful.  You have a viable business idea here, but, you run the risk of running afoul of the regulators.  Always act as the white hat and you should be fine, but look into it.

399  Economy / Auctions / Re: Auction - 300 GH/S avalon mini 2 on: January 15, 2014, 02:24:57 PM
bid 2.5

local pickup

no escrow

And we have a qualified bid!

These are located in a warehouse in Lexington Kentucky - we'll have to work out the details because the guy that runs the warehouse is sort of a night owl... (Heavy metal band/tech guru)

But for now, you are the winning bidder.  Auction ends Friday.
400  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] 2.1 MH/s Scrypt Miner | 7 Day Lease on: January 15, 2014, 12:54:11 AM
Yeah - I totally fucked up this one, for sure I meant to bid .02 - however, I made the error, so I will pay it.

Taking responsibility for my fuck up.  Coins sent.

It would be super cool if I were offered a bit more time hashing since I did make the mistake and massivly overpay... that being said, again, it was my fuck up, so I guess if dude doesn't want to hook me up with some extra benefits, I'll have to take it as a lesson to be more careful with what I am doing.
