383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / e-gold founder Douglas Jackson: His view on Bitcoin in 10 years on: January 30, 2021, 10:07:37 AM
"What do you think will be the role of Bitcoin in 10 years from now?

That of tulips, minus the decorative and commercial value of tulips, with a lot of blockchain engineers, consultants, attorneys, pundits and VCs seeking to find euphemisms to move that part of their resume into the memory hole."

I will let you comment but is he doing the banks game now that e-gold is long time busted?  Grin

386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: May 7th, 2140 on: January 14, 2021, 05:05:35 PM

I imagine 1 BTC might value then 50-100 Millions a coin, looking at the USD inflation rate.
Nah, I don't believe that bitcoin will ever reach that much. Maybe some millions, but this is a madness.

It's not madness it's called inflation.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: May 7th, 2140 on: January 14, 2021, 03:42:27 PM
Last BTC will be mined on May 7th, 2140

What else reason do you need to know that BTC is the future?

What else?? A lot of ... fixed supply is not the only factor of grow. There are a lot of coins that are already 100% minted (like BNB that in fact is deflationary starting from first day).

All other coins are copycats. Without BTC none would have existed.

You might say that's too far away, but 1M a coin is something you can see in your lifetime.

With BTC you have to think think medium to long term.

Short-term thinking is your worst choice, don't have weak hands, you will regret later for cashing "pennies" now.
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the power of HOLD and believe on: January 14, 2021, 01:25:14 PM
People who HODL and never sell are fools.  Say you brought 1BTC when they were $1K.  If you just held it you would have $29K (which is a good return for 5 years).  But after that, at one point your investment went down to just $3K.  If however you saw the 2017 peak and sold at $16K on the way down and then brought at $4K (2019) on the way back up again, you would have 4BTC at $29K.  That is over $100K.

That's short-term thinking not a very wise advice as it only works for about 20% of the people, you risk big losses as the price is never predictable.

In the long run the best winnings will be taken by the HODLERS, when 1 BTC = 1 MILLION you will say I was right because none of these schemes will ever get you that far.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much btc do you need to secure your future? on: January 14, 2021, 01:16:33 PM
I would like to say I need 500 BTC to secure my future, the more the better. You don't have to limit yourself on how much Bitcoin you would have to live a wealthy life, just keep on earning until you're satisfied with what you have. Dreaming having many Bitcoin is not bad, it's a great motivation to keep moving forward, to keep evolving in order to have that amount of Bitcoin in the future.

To be more realistic, you need to have a multiple source of income in order to achieve what you want, having one is only enough for your daily expenses.

With 500 BTC you can secure the future of you and your next 7 generations. You really dream big. Not bad at all.

1 BTC will be enough in 7 years to live the life of your dreams.
3 BTC will be enough in 4-5 years to live the life of your dreams.
5 BTC will be enough in 2 years to live the life of your dreams.

Any of these amounts will make you a Millionaire.

just little remark - you can live the life of your dreams without any BTC, be honest - its not necessary to become millionaire to be happy.

Of course you can, money won't bring you happiness but they can bring you an easier life, with less worries.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks hope to issue their own "bitcoins" to fight BTC on: January 14, 2021, 12:58:01 PM
CBDCs are not bitcoin and your title is not correct. CBDCs are as bad as alternative cryptocurrencies or they can be consider worse than altcoins. Altcoins are centralized by their developers, teams but CBDCs are centralized and all controlled by governments, laws regulations, banks and you don't own your own bank obviously.

With altcoins, you can naively believe that you own your own bank but with CBDCs, no, 100% no.

I said "bitcoins" not bitcoins.

Those 21M BTC everyone is talking about are probably around 15M coins the rest are lost forever/not mined yet. This make it even more attractive.

Gold is so outdated, good for jewelry if you ask me.

What a dumb move. Honestly who would care about their digital money since they are the same thing as their currencies? Dreamers. The race is already won.

Will share my merit points with you on this thread if I like what you're sayin' Cheesy
398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25% of crypto users not securing assets as well as they think on: January 14, 2021, 10:54:20 AM
Not your keys, not your coins.

Don't put your coins on centralized exchanges even it's has strong password and 2FA etc.

Just buy a hardware wallet, write down the seed and separate to any hidden place...your coins will be safe.

Trezor or Ledger, which one do you recommend? Both of them has been targeted with cyberattacks/phishing and malware recently.

I recommend saving your keys on a stick and write them on a paper, place them securely and problem solved. Some people are overthinking.
399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 25% of crypto users not securing assets as well as they think on: January 14, 2021, 10:53:17 AM
Holding BTC on any exchange for more than a few days is a crazy thing to do. The risk is there no matter how big the player name is. HODL!!

This post about security users wallets not about holding. Data may stolen at any moment if you not enough defend you wallet.

If you're keeping your wallet online then it's your risk.
