The only way this coin survives is if there is a community takeover and you somehow find a competent dev that is willing to fix this mess. communitycoin and adrian do not have the skills. The sooner this community realizes that the sooner you can work on repairing this mess.
Hold a vote within the community. It's been done before and many of the coins where this happened have survived.
This is what you need to do. The current dev and his assistant have no credibility. It's obvious that they don't know what to do.
Community takeover is the only option. If you need help with this I am willing to offer my time to help this community save this coin.

Here's one vote for self moderated thread!  +1 If we get flooded again by trolls, we should just create a self-moderated thread just like you suggested. After we create one, we can keep things in order and talk to the mods post the link here and close this if that is necessary. Voting on mintpal goes faster than before, we have 15609 and growing.That will kill this coin even faster. |

If this coin is to succeed I think a few things must be done.
1. OP needs to be cleaned up and better organized with the new community selected coin logo for branding, you only get one chance at a first impression.
2. On the issue of the missing coins, I can't understand how "all efforts" as described by the OP were used to recover the data when the hard drive was said to have failed only that morning, exhausting all efforts to recover lost data is not a 2 hours and I'm done type of job. If there is a failed hard drive with this data on it then an effort, a real and exhaustive effort, should be explored to recover this data even up to paying a fee for a 3rd party to recover the data perhaps with funds raised by the community. If after truly exhausting all efforts to recover the data we find that the funds are indeed lost then there must be complete transparency as to how this situation will be remedied and ideally the decision will be put to a community vote before a final decision is made.
3. A donation pool should be raised to hire the DEV an official community secretary, DEV's organizational skills are wretched. The staking lists given that included both staked and non-staked with no designation between the two was just the tip of the iceberg on the things that were handled poorly on the clerical side and this has caused mass confusion in the thread and muddying the waters. This designated secretary's first order of business should be to put out a final "official" list of members who received stakes and the amount received, again transparency is badly needed for the coin to succeed. If we can't fill this secretary position or DEV is not in tune with the idea, can some one for the love of Pete please introduce the DEV to the concept of a spreadsheet?
In the end, the grief and in-fighting that has currently got this thread completely off track are almost completely due to mistakes made by DEV that were easily correctible or avoided completely, my opinion is he should step up his game if you will and do his very best to fix the most obvious faults and help the community get back on track.
This coin can still be saved I think but now it is on life support and that makes me sad.

Over the long run these 200 million coins must be destroyed or they will forever be an albatross around the coin's neck, a temp fix like you are attempting now is simply not an acceptable long term solution. If it requires a hard fork so be it. If you can't do it find someone who can.You guys should do a community takeover and put this guy in charge. He's the only one that has a grasp on what needs to be done. The users communitycoin and adrian are obviously too incompetent to do anything except sink this ship. You need new leadership. Do a community takeover of this coin and do it now. It's the only way to save this coin if it can be saved. Hard fork this puppy and start over. Nothing else will save this coin. |

Blocking these coins is the one and only way to fix. there is no another way to destroy coins unless you have private key. Then recover the data off the failed hard drive or find someone who has the coding aptitude to solve this in an elegant manner, this is a joke and the ppl attempting to solve the issue do not have the needed skills. Leaving 20% of existing coins forever weighing down the future prospects of COMM will never allow it to rise, only fall and fail. I already proposed HDD recovering. LOL, we are offering this service in our company in Russia ;-) And the Dev's response to your offer? I'm guessing silence, yes? Of course it was silence. |

I have added Hashcoin to The CPU Coin List. Does anyone know if there was a premine? I didn't see that info or just missed it. No premine, just instamine  It was not instamined. Diff was low, ninja launch, and the small hashers got in quick  Sorry but HASH is still valuable and people trolling this coin saying "instamine" have no idea what they are even talking about or are just hating because they missed the launch. Hashcoin is still really good to mine at the current low diff. I threw my 30 GPUs at launch and raped this coin for an hour. When I realized the difficulty was fucked I left. No one will buy it.I tried to warn people but they wouldn't listen and instead wasted days mining this coin. It's too bad because many coins have been going up and they could have profited by mining something else. Instead they let this incompetent dev con them into thinking it had a future. |

Since btc-mike asked about premine (or instamine, which is similar), I updated the chart up to block 20349 (about an hour ago), so you can judge for yourself:  My opinion: instamined to the tuned of around 3 million over the period of around half a day, with the first 4 hours or so the extreme instamine. (If someone tells you differently, you should ask yourself if they were part of the instamine. If they say it's because of the reward algorithm, tell them the reward algorithm is designed to produce a sneaky instamine, and ask them why they didn't include what is arguably a much fairer launch: to give very low subsidies for the first half day or so). I said this from day one but the childish dev tried to deny it and instead tried to act like a tough guy which he isn't. He's a skinny little boy that thinks he's something when he's not. |

i read some posts about omitted ones at second round, i'll prepare reconsideration form, few days later, there i'll ask from you what have you done so far. My basic rule is rewarding high productivity. (Selling comms in early stage asking others to do or attacking dev, spreading lies, sitting unopened wallet, not supporting community activities (like those who collecting multi pool) is not a good product or community spirit.) Don't come to me with empty or un opened wallet bytheway. Don't try to be above community in anyway in bad manners or anything not positive. Don't revolt, if you do so it's because you think killing community is your business and i do not allow this. see my plan: 1st priority who received before 1 m when compared those never received. Earliest one apply will get priority from later ones. 2nd those who believes did or can do alot to comm if some stake left i still open (always) gates those who did alot for comm. 3th line there is "waiting submission forms" of who lately applied. For 2 community can also donate always if you do any good for comm. I give no guarantee anyone but you will get my goodwill at least for these positive efforts. I can in some case put your dids OP with your wallet people there can donate you. Or i can support your post and invite others to donate. So those who get 1 m before and still active will have a good change for the second 1 m. Also if you do a lot and still i no pay you any comm dont attack me, i had to confront many difficulties. I could do this much. Yes i did many errs. but without my dedicated efforts, be sure we could not come to this level. Remember 2 times our threads locked. I am not only fighting with delivery but also bitcointalk rules. I did 3 wallet updates + 200 posts. And you very well deserved my efforts. I am not complaining here. I am impressed. Here's one vote for self moderated thread! +1 Ah, I guess the originator slipped-up there....or maybe it was deliberate... I smell a conspiracy to acquire at lower prices: when the 196m coins are 'recovered' they can be distributed to influential people. Every coin needs a reserve to bribe the real movers and media stars who are needed later. Very plausible scenario. What about the long term prospects then ? I think they didn't handle it correctly. Had the dev and associates come out with a solution regarding the 20% or even bothered to make a post in the last couple of hours it might have worked. Now it looks like they just abandoned the coin, took what they could, and banked some btc. Another possibility would be a staged community takeover, new dev and all making it look like the coin is back on track. Of course this would all be orchestrated by the originators of this coin using different aliases. You might be able to profit. But you'd need to get out quick and not get greedy because any pump would be short lived. |

Members who are willing to comment or upvote articles, posts, videos, etc. in order to promote COMM should apply. I know much of this is already being done, but this will allow us to become more organized in the future. All interested, please send me a PM with your email address.
