I've always wondered what the required computational power for generating vanity addresses is. Could anyone point me in the right direction for this info? Thanks.

I usually just use an exchange. I have my account verified, so the process after that is fast and straightforward.
Which exchange do you like to use? I've used BTC-E previously, but I mostly use Bitstamp now. Verification is easy and withdrawals were cheaper than on BTC-E. I also just tried Cex.io a few days ago (not for anything major, was just checking out the GHS) and they seem quite alright.

Desktop wallet. Mostly because you're at the mercy of the the service provider if you use an online wallet. But you have to be careful about security and make sure to backup so you don't lose your coins.

That's not gonna happen. Give it a few more years.

You can build a standalone client which makes calls to APIs to get balances and such. I'm working on something similar to that concept at the moment.

This is pretty cool. I look forward to trying a Bitcoin ATM at some point whenever I'm visiting the US.

I'm rather curious as to where they go with this.

I concur. Mechanical keyboards are the best. I type at about 100WPM and there's nothing more satisfying than the sound of the keys going click-clack so fast. It makes me feel like I'm getting serious work done.

Albania, Estonia, Ethiopia or Sweden.

I doubt the price would drop below $266 to be honest, but we'll see. If it does go below that, I'll be willing to pick up a few extra at that price point.

It's not much, but you can hold it for a while until the price goes up. Or you can invest it. I'm pretty sure there are some legit borrowers out there who'll return your funds with interest.

I run bitcoind on a couple of Linux VPS. That's pretty much the obvious choice. Are there any full node implementations that can function without having to download the entire blockchain? That would be neat.

Having 2 decimal places for the ISO standard makes sense, and it doesn't affect the conversion or other factors.
Just for perspective, there are 1000000 Zimbabwean Dollar notes, so having values like 1000000XBT to represent 0.01BTC isn't too far-fetched.

No, I can tell you from first hand experience that it won't work. The infrastructure just isn't there yet. I mean, there isn't even 24-hour power supply. Maybe in 20 to 30 years, and that's optimistic.

I would recommend not donating mostly because of false representation. I've seen some of the videos and most of the arguments she presents are cherry picked and she sometimes goes to great length to bring up unsubstantiated points. She also makes use of gameplay footage from other Youtube channels. Considering how much she raised for the Kickstarter, there's nothing stopping her from creating her own content. Oh well.

You could also try grouping outputs together for each transaction. That's more cost effective in the long run.

Water, for sure. But then again, I don't drink and I have never tasted beer, so yeah.

It sucks that they don't allow you access to your funds after suspending account activity just because the account isn't verified, but the process on Bitstamp is actually very easy, compared with other non-Bitcoin related services that I had to get verified for. There is nothing wrong with getting verified, withdrawing your funds and then closing your account to take your business elsewhere. And I doubt getting yourself verified on Bitstamp would put your life in danger. Seems rather paranoid. :/
