161  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin has already succeeded on: June 20, 2015, 03:34:09 PM
Bitcoin is starting to gain mainstream recognition, for sure, but it still needs to be easier to purchase to gain mass adoption.

Better to just use a mobile browser. SMF has a mobile theme that is easy to navigate on mobile phones.
163  Other / Politics & Society / OneWeb’s constellation of 700 low-altitude satellites will be built by Airbus on: June 20, 2015, 03:07:50 PM
Quote
Airbus, the European aerospace giant, has won a contract to build 900 communications satellites for OneWeb's global high-speed satellite Internet service. OneWeb appears to be on target to launch 700 of the satellites in 2018. Both Richard Branson's Virgin Group and Qualcomm are still on board as major investors, and the project is expected to cost somewhere between £1.3 and £1.9 billion ($2-3 billion). SpaceX (with funding from Google) is also looking to compete in this same space, but its constellation isn't due until at least 2020.

Personally, I find this to be a very interesting project for satellite Internet. The latency will be lower since they're going to be low altitude.
164  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Appears Coinbase has turned an agent of the anti-civil rights US government on: June 20, 2015, 03:05:14 PM
I've never really liked Coinbase anyway. The great thing with bitcoin is that there are always alternatives.
165  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NYC man robbed of his bitcoins at gunpoint on: June 20, 2015, 03:03:48 PM
If you're gonna transact with anyone you met online, it's always best to do it in a public location with lots of eyes.

Guess we should always use incognito mode or private browsing mode in the US from now on.

They're not charging all of FIFA. Just some officials related to CONCACAF.

America is gradually becoming a police state.
170  Economy / Economics / Re: Government & Bitcoin on: June 20, 2015, 02:49:20 PM
Governments will always want to be able to control and regulate bitcoin since it's directly related to financial value. In a way, it's a good thing, as it will allow for consumer protection and make it harder for scammers to get away with their crimes. However, too much control and restrictive regulation will always be a problem.
171  Economy / Economics / Re: Has The Lower Price Really Been Great For Bitcoin? on: June 20, 2015, 02:46:48 PM
Well, the lower price is definitely great for adoption. However, the only way for me to buy bitcoins is via wire transfer, which still takes a while, especially when I want to make quick transactions.
172  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Exchange Perfect Money to Bank Account Worldwide Service (Exkash.com) on: June 20, 2015, 02:43:24 PM
Is this the proper forum to be posting this? Looks like a promotion, which should be in the Service Announcements forum.
173  Economy / Economics / Re: What to buy.. what to buy.. on: June 20, 2015, 02:42:20 PM

Wouldn't it be easy to beat the credit report system by getting a bunch of prepaid numbers? These are very easy to obtain.

178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: My bitcoin wallet insists on charging 0.001 btc to send, but I want to pay less on: June 20, 2015, 02:21:27 PM
I am using blockchain wallet and there is no any transaction fees.
I recommend it

I would advise against using the blockchain.info wallet. There have been a lot of security breaches and screw ups in recent times. Better to use a more secure and reliable wallet.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: upgraded to 10.2 and now no confirmations on a transaction on: June 20, 2015, 02:18:29 PM
well I just finished the dishes and I see I finally received 1 confirmation.
wow almost 5 hours ...   c'est la vie

Did you send it with no fee at all or fee lower than 0.0001BTC? This can cause transaction delays as transactions with higher fees will be processed first and the blocks get full before yours finally gets processed.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is it mandatory to upgrade to XT? on: June 20, 2015, 02:16:03 PM
No, it's optional. Running XT is just for a show of support for the block size limit increase.
