I'm calling scam (not just useless coin) on this entire 'operation'. Pools don't pay out, obvious 'pre mining' for a small group of early adopters and NO early adoption of coin except for forum sales.
Have you tried the FC Simple Pool? I have been using it for 30 hours and have received multiple payouts. Point your cgminer here: http://fpool1.zapto.org:28339I don't think it's a scam. There is no premine, and pools used to pay regular yesterday. Altpool is still working and accepting my shares, though website is under maintance now. Depends heavily on what you call premine. First 5 miners threw something like 5MH @ mining and scraped together millions of coins in hours at ultra low difficulty. Launching an altcoin with 200 block reward and early miners finding 1000s of blocks an hour qualifies as premine to me. i'ld call it "being at the right place at the right time" besides, when i started solomining, i threw 8 khash/sec at it, got 50 blocks in 12 hours, since then, 1114 FC from pooled mining. And that would work just fine, if everyone was on 8 khash, even with stupid low diff for first few days. Unfortunately there are several 'early adopters' on 5+ Ghash rigs. Where are you getting that figure of 5GH from? Anyway I see your point. There was significant hash power quite early on, but it seems to be from a lot of people picking up this coin and not just from some major miners. I actually think we have had a fairly decent early distribution of coins as so many people got in early. I hope that these people now stick around to help build this coin. Hey you never know. I would still argue that the next coin to 'make it' will be one launched by a vetted group with a pre-set lauch date to avoid the 'gold rush' where a few 'mining corps' dump tons of hashing power into solo mining for a day and mine a very significant percentage of the possible future value with little to no effort. Even if you announce it ahead of time those mining corps will be waiting with their large rigs, and even more concerning is the fact that it gives people the time to organise attacks on the coin in advance like poor BBQCoin. PPCoin announced a week ahead of time and ended up getting 2 million coins mined in a day. There are arguments for and against announcing new coins. Mincoin took things to an interesting new level

LTC still seems to be heading to Gox. I would not be surprised if we saw it bubble to $10. We may have enough people waiting to cash out LTC on Gox that it keeps the price down. Anyway, I only started mining as a hobby so I'm very happy with the price, then again that hobby has now somewhat become my life.

The current pools have not been up long and considering this is a new coin we can expect some teething problems. Ideally I'd like to see this coin on Coinotron but we are still in the early stages. Out of interest what pool were you using?

Can someone please confirm, is this coin really 4 times faster than Litecoin?Thank you it is, if i'ld mine LTC in a pool with my current hashrate, or i mine FC, i get about 4.03 times as many FC as LTC What I mean is, when doing Feathercoin transactions are the confirmations 4 times faster than Litecoin's confirmations? Anyone? Does no-one know? No, this is a more abundant version of LiteCoin. I'm not sure how well the network would handle four more times the amount of blocks in a single period. I think something along those lines have been tried before with some issues. Many thanks for the official reply. The cryptocurrency list states: FC FeatherCoin- yet another LTC clone. 4 times more coins, 4 times faster. Is it ok if I post in that topic alerting the author that it's 4 times more coins but not 4 times faster? Or..? Btw I am not bashing the coin, I am creating a topic to buy some later... just want to know the actual facts. I have contacted xorxor to correct the text.

Crashes instantly for me :/ MacBook Air 2012 running Mac OS X 10.8.3. Can you take a screen shot of the error, imgur it and post it here. The client was only tested on the development Mac which is not a fair test. I may need to bundle some extra files with the release.

I'd like to see a structure under the alt-coin forum similar to the main Bitcoin forum. As that is not going to happen perhaps another option to put forward it to spin the alt-coin forum into its own site with a single-sign-on system linked with here

The compiler is looking for a file that belongs to Berkeley DB. Have you defined the path to your Berkeley DB folder? You will need to do the same for Boost and OpenSSL.

New Difficulty change is 3.5 times higher at 230k
Spot on. I guess we have found the difficulty ceiling for the current hash power. It has been going up a by a factor of four each time until now.

Hey man, slight issue. My hashrate in stats is shown as Hashrate: 0 KH/s, even tho worker hash rate is shown. Whats up? Also how do I see my "unapproved/unconfirmied" balance?
I had this issue. The pool is currently stratum only, so the address needs to be. stratum+tcp://mine.altpool.com:3333/ This fixed the problem for me.

I can't seem to get any active connections to the Feathercoin Network through feathercoin-qt. Any suggestions?
Enable UPNP in the FeatherCoin client and your router, or forward port 9336 to the computer running the FeatherCoin QT client, and configure your firewall to let the client listen on that port.

That is interesting news, also it seems like ByteCoin has been around for more than 17 days. People seem to be enjoying this coin.

Thanks for your work on this Paul. I will link this thread into the FC post.

4.9% of the coins disappear over the year and go into the block reward.

Mincoin did an interesting thing. It set the initial block reward to 500, then 100, then 50 before dropping to 2. The developer did this I'm sure to reward the first few people to the coin for adopting and using it. I imagine the idea is that the first to mine with decent hash power, were the exact sort of people who can build services for a coin. It is often those that first start mining a coin are the ones who will help build it into something useful.
I've plagiarized myself from the thread I linked in my post above.

I started a discussion about premining today which I believe is relevant to this thread as this has been something I have been thinking about. What is premining? As the use of the word premine has become loose I wondered if we might need to use it more specifically.
