Most people I've talked to here are very aware of the "Icelandic example" of how to rid finance of corruption but jailing bankers won't do that and iceland hasn't achieved that yet. the only thing that will do that is if each individual strives to contract with crypto currency in your day to day transactions. I now buy my clothes and pay for coffee at my favorite cafe in bit coin. This is one of the best things you can do for aurora coin, approach a retailer that you shop at regularly and give them a wallet that you can send auros to when you buy something. But the biggest opportunity I have found here for auroracoin and general crypto is solar Power. This entire festival is powered by one guys solar rig. I've introduced him to auroracoin and pointed out to him that he can monetize his surplus by mining auroracoin from his solar rig. He has enough surplus solar to power a mini mining warehouse. I've handed out a hundred wallets so far and have each person in a mailing list.

I mean that any people wanting to contribute is encouraged to do so. Coding, webdevelopment, social media dev, writting, PR. We are actually 10 people working a lot on different part of the Auroracoin project. When I see what these guys have accomplished, I wonder how it would be if 10 more, or 50 more people were to jump in.
For my own part of the job, in a perfect world, i would add with pleasure :
- Auroracoin writter(s)
- Web dev
- FB pro
- Linkedit pro
- Reddit pro
- Instagram artist
- Artistic direction
- SEO geek
- Video creator
And even for people not having much time to spare, there is things to do. Share links/news on twitter, FB, forums, reddit, answers questions, post positive content everywhere, talk about Aur project within you friends/relatives etc.
We are just at the realy beginning of this new phase. We appreciate the support out there, the congratulations and all. But we will win this battle with actual labor, from a very large army of workers/helpers.
Anyone can help, and this is not a single better way to ''protect'' your investment, while be part of something very important, ''History in the making''.

I feel honored and will work hard connecting people with what is, in my opinion, one of the best project in crypto. Auroracoin will soon be under spotlight - for good reasons, and I am lucky to be part of it. ''History in the Making'' is what I have in mind when working with these guys from Iceland, Netherlands, Canada, US and Austria, and I'm pretty sure they feel the same.
There is other people here wanting to participate to this journey. Just PM me ! To achieve our goals, tens of people will be needed. It's with great pleasure that we can say that ISX which is the first cryptocurrency exchange in Iceland will be opened next Monday 14. December for those that have registered for the beta test.  Hey Skarfur How many people have signed up for beta and what kind of volume do you expect? Can you please explain what effect the beta test will have on auro price, do you see massive sell off, panic buying or no movement at all? Who will provide a big enough supply of auros to meet the potential demand, will the foundation use its own funds to provide liquidity? If supply runs out can you buy auros on the bittrex exchange and load them into the icelandic one? Most importantly though is how long will the beta test last and what are the main trials the beta needs to pass? |

Guess we all are my friend! Sorry if my first reaction seemed a bit harsh, just got used to much to newbie accounts claiming they done well by selling. I see how you must have thought it was a good trade, but let me tell you things might move fast soon and then you find yourself wondering how you are now looking to buy back @ 20000 what you sold @ 10000. Personally I have been mining and buying AUR from early February 2014. In all this time I only sold about 1.500 coins in total. For me the long term possibilities of Iceland as one of the first mainstream adopters of Crypto is the reason I invest in this project. Not only financially, but also by participation. As part of the dev-team I can tell you we are just beginning to see what potential this project really has. We had quite some bumps on the road this far, but things seem to look a bit more smooth up ahead ;-) Storing up coins that you mine is one thing, but what are the costs to doing that? Do you think that the long term price can ever reach stability against another measurement such as gold or will auros always fluctuate in price. The following graph illustrates the price of 1 auro in my local currency the rand over 2015.  |

hmm looks like the price is going torards 0.00008.
Ive been tradin auroracoin for 18 months now.
Ive baught back some aurora at 0.000095 but i think i can get most of my auros back at 0.000085.
Another thing ive learnt is that auros price moves with development of the krona exchange.
You can sell auros comfortably until that exchange goes live.

Ltex Give me a break man. Unless the price goes back above 0.0001 i was right in selling. My reasons for selling are because cryptsy now only has 5% of the auros market. I assume cryptsy is going bung and would want to liquidate the coins they have implying that they would want to sell the auros it had. Any ideas on what cryptsy is doing with its auroracoin? I suspect the selling pressure is connected to them. PS ltex, those 5000 auros are a small fraction of my holdings bro  |

Since you address the foundation here I think I should add a bit on top of what LTEX has just explained. There are two things that can give an altcoin some value. One is that it has some new technical feature/s that gives it advantage over Bitcoin and other altcoins and that is something Auroracoin does not have. The second is usage. A coin that could get common usage among the general public has value and that is what Auroracoin was designed to do. The idea was to distribute a coin to a nation where everyone could have a chance to participate and get free coins to start a functioning economy in a bang to see how and if a cryptocurrency at this early stage of development would work in mass adoption. From that every cryptocurrency including Bitcoin could take a lesson, regardless if Auroracoin would be successful or not. It would show how a cryptocurrency would be accepted by the general public, what legal, social, political and technical obstacles it might have to face and that is something that crypto in general will benefit from. This is why the main focus in Auroracoin development is focused on Iceland as that is what gives Auroracoin it's value. Without this it is basically like most other Bitcoin clones out there, valueless. If however Auroracoin is successful in getting some proper adoption and usage in Iceland it would naturally be valuable for the rest of the world as it would have achieved something that no other altcoin has yet. So you can see how promoting and creating solutions for the coin in Iceland is more important and need to happen before any kind of development for the global market. So that being cleared I want to address another thing and that is regarding the foundation that you were addressing. This is a common misunderstanding here so I just like to clear it up again. The Icelandic Auroracoin foundation is not and will never be the official developer of Auroracoin nor any other project related to it. Auroracoin is being developed by the Auroracoin developer group which is a separate entity and all other projects related to Auroracoin that are being worked on now are efforts of individuals or groups that support this coin and the idea behind it. The Icelandic Auroracoin foundation as the name implies, was created to promote Auroracoin in Iceland and to educate the Icelandic public about Auroracoin and the blockchain technology. It was founded by Icelanders and it's members are and can only be Icelandic. It's an official entity that Icelandic people can turn to regarding any matter of Auroracoin be it for information, legal status or adoption. The foundation will of course have some weight in deciding what direction the coin will be developed as the foundation grows but it does not dictate it. The foundation got a donation of 1 million AUR from Baldur the founder of Auroracoin and the way that funds will be used are stated here http://aurarad.is/sjodurinn/. The site is in Icelandic but I hope that until we have time to put this on the English page on the foundation site that Google translate would suffice. To sum it up the M1 fund like we call it, will be spent on getting Auroracoin adopted in Iceland. So regardless if you or anyone else is working on a project that contributes to Auroracoin being adopted in Iceland then that project would of course be eligible for support from the foundation. If you want support for your projects for adoption outside Iceland then you should direct that to the Auroracoin developer group or the community around Auroracoin. I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I'm just clearing up a few things here so there is no misunderstanding about it. And like LTEX just stated, we could always use more active and enthusiastic supporters like you.
