Can anyone help out? I will not be sending first, but I am highly trusted on this forum and Dash's (same username), willing to do it in 100 or 50 XVC increments if needed.

Can someone please tell me how Rads development is funded? Is it done on a donation basis or something else?

Thank you,
   Pablo.

Since inception, we have funded the project from our own pockets and from small community donations.
We are working on establishing a B2B division for the purposes of expanding SmartChain adoption and generating a development revenue stream.
Currently, there is not much need for capital, as we don't have very substantial overhead costs. Over the coming months, that overhead is projected to increase with the launch of our new websites, API services, and more.

Quick question: I am considering investment and I have a core question. What is the niche that Rads is trying to fill, i.e. what will John Doe use Rads for in 10 years? I'm still trying to get my head around the technology so any information is appreciated.

Thank you,
   Pablo.

Hello Pablo,

For your average user in the future, Radium and the Radium SmartChain would hope to bring user friendly and secure verification to files and documents. Ideally, various entities such as software companies, law firms, and banks would record proofs using the SmartChain, and upon receiving documents and/or software from those entities, an end user could verify their origin and integrity with as little as a right click.

Best regards,
-Tim M.

Hi TIm,
Thanks for getting back to me. So just to be clear, the main focus of Rads will be generally in the field of provenance. Would that be correct?

Thank you for your time.

Pablo.

Pablo,

That is correct. Our focus is using the blockchain for the purpose of provenance. We use hashing algorithms to create and place proofs within the blockchain, essentially creating a immutable time-stamped record not only of what was proved, but also by whom.

JJ

Understood, thank you for the information.

Dash and VCash have very interesting white papers.

51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Darkcoin & Dash on: May 28, 2016, 02:58:56 PM
I have the same issue - upgraded the wallet but my old DRK won't transfer over.
I don't see any tutorials on the dash website.
There are dead links and non-existent videos that have been abandoned.

Does this help:

"Configurations have been moved from .darkcoin to .dash! You’ll need to do the following when updating your client. First close Darkcoin and backup your data directory.

Windows: %APPDATA%\Darkcoin\
Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/Darkcoin/
Unix/Linux: ~/.darkcoin/

After that rename it to Dash for Windows/Mac, or .dash for linux. Next go open the directory and locate the darkcoin.conf file, rename this to dash.conf.

Next, simply update to the newest Dash client and restart."

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: May 22, 2016, 05:53:15 PM
Anyone seen the new DASH fork, DNET? Focused on anonymous transactions and darknet?

Yes, I'm all in.
Hmm.. Code wise I see this https://github.com/dashpay/dash/compare/master...Darknet-Crypto:master i.e.:
1. PoW -> PoW/PoS, Quark algo, tweaked few chainparams
2. Replace Dash -> darknet and DASH -> DNET all over the place
3. Rebrand DS and IX to Obfuscation and SwiftTX respectively without any change to the protocol
4. there is no 4

And that's it for the "cutting edge" development of this "crytpocurrency" (that's how they call it https://github.com/Darknet-Crypto/Darknet/blob/master/README.md) since Jan 30, 2016 so far. This could be a "litecoin" to Dash but these times are gone forever imo. Or are there any insights/whitepaper/code that I'm missing?  Roll Eyes

Btw I looked through many Dash clones searching for socould safely grab it and incorporate to Dash... because I'm lazy at doing things others can do  Wink But this never happened and finally I had to rewrite/fix it myself, though visually it might look familiar.

Thank you for chiming in @Udjinm6, I was looking for a review of the code. It's interesting they have an active community but no hint of what their road map is, already 6 months in, beyond "anonymous transactions". I agree that's a weakness in our implementation however, as coinjoin is slow and not that user friendly. On the other hand, your analysis clinches it for me and I will not be buying any DNET, at least until their plan is made public and proved sound. I am a big fan of Warren Buffet, who believes that it is better to miss out on the occasional great opportunity than to buy into a bunch of sucker bets trying to find one.

I'm curious as to what other Dash clones their are though, this is the first one I have come across and I sort of do this for a living Cheesy. Granted I rarely pay attention to coins that don't make it past a certain stage.

53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DARKNET [DNET] QRK ALGO - PoW/PoS on: May 22, 2016, 02:31:18 PM
Could I please get some more info on this coin? Is there a whitepaper I can read?

It's not immediately obvious to me what the coin does or how it does it, beyond being anonymity centered. Definitely want to learn more.
Pablo.

It's a DASH clone with PoS after the initial PoW period. There is no whitepaper as there isn't a need for one yet.
It has a very unique feature in the works, Truly Untraceable Transactions, which we'll now more about later on.
It will also have a dynamic mechanism to balance the rate of PoS & masternode payments once it's on PoS.

Thank you.

Is there a coin specific White Paper I can read? Seems interesting.

Pablo.

The coin is based on cryptonote technology but geared towards blockchain decentralization and innovation.
Some of which are the Encrypted messaging and Blockchain deposits to begin with.

First of all, we picked cryptonote because we believe it's robust with it's ring signature anonymity and single address for all principle among others.

Imagine with a single key, you can log into a social networking platform that is privately controlled by this one key on the blockchain. Meaning no one has access to your personal/private data like it is stored in a database with the other social network/media sites.

Another drive towards this is to enable people recharge thier electricity meters away from home right on the blockchain using this same single key.
the main reason for this is because it's a real issue in africa and we intend to tackle it with blockchain technology.

The Controller and Acountant division of the Government of Ghana for instants takes more than a month to generate payroll for public servants/workers.
Imaging using blockchain to tackle this problem by harnessing proccesing capacity from miners and with a good mesage passing interface withing the blockchain, payroll is generated withing minutes, eradicating the need to wait for two or three months be fore paying workers. this is also one of the reasons we chose cryptonote as the building block.

For now, we are working grounds up. after the website is up, all resources including a wiki page will be put up to provide an insight on the project.

We have a target of about two years, and by then the reward for contributing hashrate will be a constant 5 BXC + transaction fee from innovative activity.

More info will be on website.

Those are all fine ideas, but as an investor, I am interested in reading a white paper detailing current and future implementation, with code samples so I can judge for myself. I wish you the best of luck but I won't be investing at this point, hope to check back in the future.

Pablo.

Seems like a fork of ducknote/darknote/digitalnote, which is a fork of Bytecoin.

Yep, good info. My question though is more geared toward what innovations are planned for this coin. I mean, what is different about this project and how will it be different in the future from its predecessors.

Thanks for sharing this book with us and i hope i can learn a lot from your book.. honestly i really need to learn more about trading.. i am trader but really don't know how to get more profit with my money.. to invest in any cryptocurrency..
Once i already read the book and satisfied i will give a good feedback to your amazon.. thanks..

Hey Socks Smiley,
That's an interesting place you are coming from. I migrated from "trading" (short term) to "Investing" (long term) because trading requires a lot more self-control than I can muster at times. I have had decent success at both, but I think that having made the move to long term investing, I can at least get a few hours sleep per night. And that's the rub, long term investing requires an understanding of fundamentals and potential, the rest is about waiting; trading requires a 24/7 connection to any and all available information on your crypto of choice and the surrounding environment. The rumor mill can make or break your week. With long term investing, current price becomes a secondary consideration.

Anyway, glad you're on your way, feel free to email me if you wanna talk one on one.

nice read Pablo!!

out of curiosity what projects do you think meet your criteria in the book as the best investments?

Hey, glad you enjoyed it!

As to your question: I don't think any coin fits all my criteria, and I wouldn't expect one to as that's not realistic. I think one of the main issues with altcoins right now is governance and funding, so I like coins which are working on those sorts of features. I like Dash a lot because it has the ability to fund its own development without the need for any centralization and has a working governance model. There are of course other coins which show a lot of promise, XVC for example, I'm still waiting to see what comes of XVC though, as they seem to have great tech but not many people are aware of it. Fun fact: these are two of the most trolled coins out there.

I would be all for ZCash if it weren't for the pre-mine; if you look at Roger Ver's track record, everything he touches is gold, but I think ZCash is a mistake. Monero I think has very interesting technology, but they have tactics I don't agree with, so I'm not invested; of course that doesn't mean it won't be a good investment for you, it just turned me off to them. That's a quick summary on my thoughts on the most popular alts right now, if you wanna talk in more detail, feel free to email me Smiley.

Finally, its important to remember that the book provides a series of "things to look for," but the weight you give each of these signs and signals, individually and in combination, is up to you; so your may come to different conclusions and that is perfectly valid.

Pablo.

PS: If you can, please leave an Amazon review with your thoughts, that's very helpful to me: goo.gl/Cv9QSi
