Update
**************

Just want to update everyone and let you all know that Butter-Cream is currently operational in it's core features. We are implementing back testing and other tools but it all looks good on our front. I personally hope we can release closed Beta in 4-6 weeks.

I think that there is a bug in this platform...

When the Short EMA and Long EMA do cross, the difference should be either a positive number or a negative number. If it is positive, then you should only buy, and if it is negative, you should only sell.

Currently, it is only looking at the threshold, which is nice, but if it starts in the wrong cross, it will always buy & sell in a loss. I should be able to specify to buy/sell based on which EMA is positive and which is negative.

Hey Smiley,
The threshold refers to the difference between EMA lines after they have crossed and sells are only triggered when the difference is negative and buys are only triggered when the difference is positive; the fact that both thresholds are expressed as positive values is a cosmetic choice to make things easier for beginner traders.

Still, I appreciate the suggestion and will look into making this more transparent on the next gen system Smiley.

Pablo.

Thank you for your reply... but bot goes in to a loss if I had my ema(1, 30) and profit if i swap them to ema(30,1) with 30 minutes frequency and buy % at (0,5) and sell % at (0,5)

Hey Smiley,
Please feel free to drop me an email and we can discuss your specific situation with the strategy team; you make an interesting point Smiley.

263  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: March 15, 2014, 07:24:28 PM
I setup the bot and have a trial license key.  The bot seems to be working and I even got an email that a sell order triggered, but when I look on BTC-e I don't see any trade for LTC.

Is there a log somewhere that I can check to see why the sell order was never executed?

Also, when is butter-cream coming out?  I would like to be able to enable and disable my bot from either work or home, but if it has to run in chrome as an extension I am assuming running it in both locations would cause it to actually trade in both locations?  Is that correct?  I really only want one bot running, not two.  I just want to be able to play with the settings from either location.

And one last question.  Is there any planned support for other coins or exchanges like Cryptsty and the multitude of other altcoins they offer?

Hi Zheron Smiley,
The issue in BTC-E may have to do with the setup of trading ratio of BTC and LTC in your settings, drop me an email and I will be happy to help you one on one. I would suggest checking to see if you had a trade in that time period in either BTC and LTC even if you are only trading LTC or vice-versa. It's a common error and an easy fix Smiley.

Butter-Cream is in alpha testing and coming along rather quickly, I would say 6-8 weeks for an open Beta, if not earlier. The main thing is that Butter-Cream will be more expensive than Butter-Bot, in line with it's new features and capabilities; but current Butter-Bot subscribers will get an exclusive deal on the upgrade.

You can easily un bots with different settings from one or multiple computers, but running a single bot from multiple locations can be tricky; this is one of the core reasons Butter-Cream will be a hosted solution. You can get around this cheaply and easily by running your Butter-Bot on a Raspberry Pi or VPS for a few dollars a month for the time being.

Yes, Cryptsy is pretty much the most requested addition we have and we will look into streamlining this and other new exchange adoptions as soon as we have a little free development time.

I hope that helps, please let me know if you need anything at all Smiley.

Pablo.

Hi Pablo... I'm also new to BB and I'm having exactly the same issue. Q: What is the minimum amount in USD I can trade in (does it have to be $100 USD or above)? Secondly do I need to change any of the fields in the BTC-E settings (I'm trading LTC)? Got my Short on 3 my Long on 9 and Buy1/Sell1 on 0, Buy2/Sell2 on 5 with a frequency of an hour with a 1 minute offset.  I'm also getting the "Brain Error" Please advise...  Wink

Hey Smiley,
We released a second update for the "Brain Error" and this should completely resolve it. If you reset your bot you should no longer see the issue. I am sorry about that inconvenience but it is now resolved Smiley.

You can trade with as little as 35 USD, there is a limitation placed on how little you can trade with placed by the exchange API's, too little currency and the API will not execute a trade signal. Keep in mind that the less funds you use, the less visible your profit/loss will be.

About modding the LTC settings, you need to change your BTC/LTC ratio to 100% for LTC if you are trading LTC only, and 0% for BTC Smiley.

I hope that helps, please let me know how I can continue to be of service Smiley.

My gmail address is displayed as non valid when i try to order  Huh

Hey Dave Smiley,
That is a browser specific issue; please try a different browser and you should be all set Smiley.

O apologize for the inconvenience Smiley.

A fast question, the service is only usa-usa or it can be also usa-eu eu-eu?
I do not want bad surprises you know  Grin

Hey Dave Smiley,
We don't do reshipping, just FYI. As long as the store you are ordering from accepts U.S. credit cards and will ship to wherever you are, we are good to go.

A lot of foreign stores will not do this, so we are likely to tell you so in the pre-ordering process. If you want to ship something from the U.S. abroad it's best to sign up with a reshipping company.

Amazon and it's regional stores are always great and never present any problems Smiley.

266  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: March 13, 2014, 07:05:09 PM
I guess as an Idea... you can add an option "Only Sell if Profitable"

It would be an interesting option to have...

Hey Smiley,
We've had this discussion ad nauseam on the thread; that's a very bad option to have, it assumes that the price will ALWAYS rise, even if this is true in the very long term in the short and mid term you are liable to loose your shirt on a crash.

Feel free to email me if you need more details on this, always happy to help :=).

My bot just vanished from Chrome.  How do I get it back?  It's not disabled or anything, it's like it just decided to uninstall itself.

Hmmm, that's strange. I think my first suggestion would be to reinstall. Perhaps its a problem with Chrome synch settings to another device.

Can you please email me? I will be happy to help you on a one to one basis Smiley.

Pablo.
270  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: March 12, 2014, 06:53:13 PM
Can you PM me a license to try it out for a week or two? And what are the recommended settings for LTC?

Hi Ben Smiley,
Just go to Butter-Bot.com and download a trial license, you'll be all set; unfortunately I can not create them manually.

Since LTC is so new we currently don't have a starter strategy but you should be able to get off the ground with the starter strategy for BTC in the welcome email; I would suggest you try that for a bit and then I will be happy to discuss strategy changes specific to your situation once you have some more experience with Butter Smiley.

271  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: March 11, 2014, 11:02:05 PM
Hello all!!

I am a newbie here and i realize I need a bot to do the things I want since i work all the time.  How do i sell high and buy low on butter-bot. Right now it seems its buying high and selling low. WHICH by the way is how to lose money and LTC. I am on btc-e and trading LTC. Settings is short 7 long 15 trade 1 hour buy and sell threshold 1 is 0% buy and sell threshold 2 is 0.01%. If i have it on recommended settings it rides the line no buying no selling.

Hey Nick Smiley,
I suggest you go back to the "starter" settings for a couple of weeks (if you are on a demo you can download another demo key, you are not limited to one), and then you can drop me an email and I will happy to help you improve your settings based on your observations during those two weeks according to your own risk profile.

With the settings you currently have you are really trading on noise as you are set to trade on EVERY crossover which is not the best idea on a currency as volatile as Bitcoin.

Just drop me an email and I will be glad to help out.

are there any plans of integrating Ichimoku in v3? Would really love to see that!

I bet that would be one of the possible engine modules for V4. That indicator is way too complex to just "bolt in".

Hey Smiley,
I'll be sure to bring this up with the dev team Smiley.

Pablo.

Here are impressive results statistics from the "Goomboo Journal" using that strategy:

Hey Smiley,
Yep, it's already on the development board; we will make every effort to add it to the first version of Butter-Cream.

Hey Guys Smiley,
We should be pushing out a release over the next couple of days to increase back testign to one year and to fix the "brain error" issue. You should see it automatically, please do not hesitate to let me know if anyone has any questions.

274  Economy / Services / Re: Butter Bot!: New Bitstamp, BTC-E, and MtGox EMA Trading Platform on: March 08, 2014, 07:57:48 PM
With the right settings, this bot can make 3500% or more per year on Bitstamp or BTC-e. That performance is actually leaving the bot on for the past year and not turning it off during the 2 major downtrends that took place. If you had shut off the bot during those downtrends, the bot would have made 5500% in a year. Of course, you need to use the correct settings to get that kind of performance.  Wink

Knightlife999 - goddamnit, I am struggling to make 1 tenth of those percentages!

With the right settings, you can get a high return with the bot.  Smiley

How do you backtest for 1 year? When I use custom date range of 1 year by clicking on the calendar, once I chose the To date the From date disappears. If I manually type in a 1 year date range once I type in the To date, the From date reverts to Jan 1 2014. The 1 year option is not in my drop down list.

Should note that I have a trial edition right now.

The previous version allowed backtesting for one year, and the version before that allowed backtesting for 2 years on Gox. The present version seems to cut off backtesting at 6 months.

Pablo, is there a way you guys can add the 1-2 year backtesting option again?

Guys,
As far as I am aware, custom back testing can only be done for 6 months but you can still use the drop downs for up to 2 year back testing. Does that make sense to you guys or are you seeing something different? If not, can you please post a screen shot of what you see in back testing in terms of options so I can track it down?

Thank you Smiley.

Pablo.

It is impossible to enter a range of more than 6 months in the custom range boxes cor btc-e (that is all that I use)
Screen shot will not work. Need a video to do that or instructions which I will do first:

1) I select a From date of 03/08/2013
2) I select a To date of 03/07/2014
3) The From date disappears

or

1) I manually input a From date of 03/08/2013
2) I manually input a To date of 03/07/2014
3) The From date changes automatically to 01/07/2014

Hey,
Ok, it turns out you are completely right about the back testing and I was unaware of those changes. I am speaking to the developer so we can increase back testing to one year ASAP. This is an oversight and I apologize for that, we will fix it as soon as possible.

any plans to add PPC?

Hey Smiley,
Not immediately but we plan to add altcoins pretty regularly after the next release Smiley.

Please let me know if you need anything at all.

please the hability to use another traders techniques or parameters! top traders etc.!

Hey Smiley,
We have something similar to this in mind for Butter-Cream, top traders should be able to set public strategies and and trade them if they like with other users. That should be the first upgrade after Butter-Cream is released; stay tuned Smiley.

Hey Pablo,

I am experiencing a strange problem with Butter Bot.  Instead of the usual B symbol in Chrome, it is showing a puzzlepiece.  It is currently showing .39 on a red background and a down arrow, like it does when it's running correctly, so I don't know if it's working or not.

If I right-click on it and select Butter Bot, it takes me to the Chrome Store.  If I right-click and select Options it tries to open chrome-extension://mobiagalfkjjikfjjdbihiojihpdfbpl/options.html but it fails with a "The webpage is not found" error.

Any ideas?

If it matters, I have Butter Bot running on two PC's.  One the one I am not having trouble with is on all the time, and Butter Bot is set to do trading.

On the PC I am having trouble with, which is not on all the time I also have Butter Bot installed.  I have the same settings in it, but trading is disabled.  That way I can see what is going on without having two competing bots.

Could this be causing the problem?

Thanks!
Hey M Smiley,
I suspect the issue may be that Chrome is synching between devices. Could please disable synching and reinstall? That ought to solve it.

Pablo.

Wow, people really using these fancy and simple bots?

Hey Smiley,
I was halfway into a reply when I realized Gomboo said it best:

(Quoted from Gomboo's Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60501.0)

"One of the simplest trading systems is known as the Turtle Trading System.  In the system, you basically buy if the price is higher than the past 20 periods or sell when the price is lower than 20 periods.  This system generated millions for the participants and followers of it.  One of the "Market Wizards" did a test in which he hired a group of random people and taught them to trade the simple system - the majority of them made several million dollars in the following years.

If you would like to learn more about the Turtle Trading System, the complete rules can be found here:
http://bigpicture.typepad.com/comments/files/turtlerules.pdf

Also, here is an image of the historic performance of this system for the past 41 years.

This was found in this thread:
http://www.tradingblox.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7379

Also, the great book on the Market Wizards - or some of the best traders ever:
http://www.amazon.com/Market-Wizards-Interviews-Top-Traders/dp/1592802974/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327115564&sr=8-1"

(/End Quote)

You see, trading is mathematics and in mathematics the most elegant solutions tend to be the simplest ones. The trading methods we offer, will offer, and that are discussed here are proven and taken from real world applications. There is no need to re-invent the wheel; that being said, we don't believe we have all the answers and "Butter-Cream" will let customers do their own thing so the next gen systems we are discussing will allow you to do just that, use a multitude of indicators to create as simple or complex a set of algorithms as you wish; but if I had to put my money somewhere I would wager that the more elegant algorithms customers will come up with will win out against the overly-complex ones.

I hope that helps Smiley.

Pablo.

I am new to this robot and am testing it right now. To utilize the Turtle Method what would be the best settings on your bot to emulate it? I would like to be the lazy man and set it and forget it as I work long days and do not have time to monitor it for most of the day.

Thanks

Hey Smiley,
Butter currently uses the EMA strategy so you really can't set it for the Turtle Method, I used that post as an example of how simple strategies can be very effective. That being said, our next gen bot "Butter-Cream" should allow you to create and run a strategy like this one and current subscribers will get a great deal on this product.

Please let me know if you need anything at all.

Pablo.
