41  Economy / Economics / Re: 2024 & Prediction of World War III - Effect on Cryptocurrencies on: April 08, 2024, 05:24:40 PM
For the third year now, Russia has been attacking Ukraine with all military means (except nuclear), but has not achieved its goals. Because of this, the international authority of Russia and Putin himself has been greatly shaken, and the Kremlin is looking for a way out of this difficult situation. After all, it was originally planned to capture Ukraine in a few days. Now Putin’s efforts are aimed at weakening assistance from other states to Ukraine and waiting for Trump to come to power in the United States. But if the situation does not change in Russia's favor, Putin will be forced to start other wars to divert the attention of his citizens from the failures in Ukraine.

Apparently, such preparations are already underway in parallel. One eloquent fact testifies to the preparation for war with neighboring countries. When Russia started a war against Ukraine, Vladimir Putin signed a special decree according to which Ukrainian citizens could receive Russian citizenship through a simplified procedure. And last December, he signed a similar decree regarding citizens of Kazakhstan and Moldova.

Kazakhstan is now almost openly moving away from Russia, and the Kremlin really doesn’t like this. Therefore, just as at one time, before the attack on Ukraine, Putin stated that Ukraine is an artificially created state and that such a nation as the Ukrainians does not exist, the same thing is now being announced in relation to Kazakhstan. In addition, as in the case of Ukraine, Russia also has claims to the northern territories of Kazakhstan, which were allegedly previously donated by Russia and where ethnic Russians live who will need to be protected.

If Russia does not attack the Baltic countries to measure strength with NATO countries, then an attack on Kazakhstan could lead to a covert or overt war with Turkey. After all, Kazakhstan and Turkey belong to the Turkic peoples and relations between them have recently been growing, including in military terms. The world is really on the threshold of the Third World War and there are a lot of options for starting it now, more than ever.

Perhaps you don't realize it yet, but Ukraine has already lost this war. In hindsight, key events of this war so far were the battles of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Ukraine lost so many troops trying to prevent Russia from capturing these cities that it's ability to fight on is greatly endangered. Ukraine needs at least 5000000 new recruits and at least half a year to train them, the time Ukraine doesn't have. Even if they will be able to recruit 500k people, this will ruin Ukraine both demographically and economically and it will de-facto cease to exist.

And the failure you mentioned, I don't see it frankly: Russia is moving slowly but steadily, pushing AFU further west. Russians are capturing a small town or two almost every day after the fall of Avdiivka. They have now reached a town of Chasiv Yar, fighting is going on in the streets right now. Realistically, Russians are going to capture it in like days, because AFU don't have resources to defend the city. They even have issues to defend bigger and more strategically important cities like Kharkiv, Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. In Kharkiv, there is no internet, electricity, water. People are leaving en masse, many are trying to relocate to Dnipro. Real estate prices plummeted.

Regarding Kazakhstan, you're right in a way. Kazakhstan, Moldova and Armenia are the latest CIA projects and these countries are actively severing their ties with Russia now. Moldova is rumoured to be annexed by Romania soon, perhaps except two regions: Transnitria and Gagauz. So yeah, things are getting interesting.

Remember last year the false arguments some users were making about OPEC countries reducing production while price drops? That was false because their reduction was supposed to start this year not back then. They just made the decision then and made it public.

Surely enough as they started cutting supply with the start of 2024, the price started rising and in first quarter of this year we are back to $90 a barrel again. Of course there are other contributing factors as I've already covered them multiple times, but this chart clearly shows the effects of that supply cut:

Yes, indeed, oil prices have risen to the $90 area and experts predict that if OPEC won't increase production, prices are going to exceed $100 in Q3/Q4 2024. Perhaps Ukrainian trolls can comment?  Grin

By the way, in the regions of Ukraine, where the war is going on at the moment these "indigenous people" are in fact... Russians!  Grin
Well, we can even agree with this statement of yours, if we consider that these are territories in which, back in the 9th-12th centuries, the then powerful state of Kievan Rus, with its center in Kyiv, was located. The possessions of Kievan Rus extended to almost the entire European territory of the current Russian Federation, including Moscow itself, which was then still a small village and belonged to the Kyiv prince Yuri Dolgoruky. Therefore, in this regard, Ukrainians can consider themselves descendants of Kievan Rus, that is, Russians.

And Russia arose only during the time of Tsar Peter the Great at the beginning of the 18th century. Before this, it was first conquered by the Mongol-Tatars for three hundred years, and then became the Muscovite kingdom or Muscovy and has nothing to do with Rus'. Therefore, Ukrainians can be considered Russians at the same time, but current Russians cannot be considered Russians. The aggressive genes of the Mongol-Tatars of present-day Muscovy still periodically manifest themselves in the fact that the Russian horde periodically attacks its neighbors.

Typical brainwashed Ukrainian. Ukraine as a state didn't exist before 1991, when it was given independence by Russia. Don't let the name "Kievan" mislead you. It was in fact a Russian state. Ukrainians didn't exist as a nation. There were some separate tribes, which didn't identify themselves as Ukrainians. Prince Oleg of Novgorod attacked Kiev and killed two princes (I don't remember their names google if interested) who were ruling there. Since that time Kiev was a part of Russian Empire and later the USSR. But if we're speaking about Russia, it has been around since year 862.

Jessica Pegula hasn't been very good this year, at least that's what made her change coaches and improve a little after the change even though she hasn't managed to win the title this year.
Amanda Anisimova cannot be underestimated after her return because she made it to the fourth round of the Australian Open and lost to Sabalenka, so it was quite difficult for Pegula to face her country's tennis player, but in the third set during the tie break Pegula was better prepared and won quite easily because Anisimova made many mistakes which gave Pegula points.
So far several American tennis players have managed to advance to the next round except for Madison Keys who lost to Jaqueline Cristian in a three-set match, and today the match that I am quite looking forward to is Ons Jabeur vs Danielle Collins, Jabeur also hasn't produced anything good this year she always gets knocked out in the early rounds of the tournament and as the defending champion she will face tough resistance from Collins who has not been beaten since the Miami Open, my prediction is that this will be a three-set match if Jabeur plays well but if there is no change in her performance Collins is the favorite to win in two sets.
Imo, Pegula should have continued working with David Witt. She just wouldn't want to wait until her results improve. Maria Sakkari, on the other hand, improved greatly after she started working with Witt.

Collins is on fire, she won a title in Miami and is hungry for more.

Apart from the matches you mentioned, Wozniacki v Kalinina and Gracheva v Mertens are absolutely worth watching and perhaps even placing a small bet.

3. Equipment costs are evaluated based on export prices. In reality it costs Putin not more than a price of a mid-sized LADA to build a tank.  Grin

Well, let’s go over how much Russian tanks cost and how much they cost. The Russian publication Ferra.ru calculated how much their domestic Russian tanks cost.
So, the most common tanks in Russia are the T-72. Most of them were produced in the USSR in the latest modification of the T-72B. The T-72B3 is the most widespread of the Russian modernizations, which has reached standards “about T-90”. And this is especially noticeable in the T-72 B3 series of the 2016 model, because they already have Relikt dynamic protection, the V-92S2F diesel engine with 1130 horsepower, an improved gun stabilizer and a new generation of surveillance equipment. In 2016 prices, only replacing dynamic protection and installing a new engine (+ minor modifications such as improved tracks) on an existing tank cost Russia 16.6 million rubles per tank.

In total, the upgrade to the T-72B3 took place in three waves - 2011, 2014 and 2016. In 2013, modernization cost 22 million rubles, and on top of that 30 million for the overhaul of the tank itself. Total - 52 million rubles. There is no more detailed information about how much a complete update cost later in open sources.

What about the T-90 and its versions? There is more information here, but rather in terms of export prices. The most modern T-90M Breakthrough costs, on average, 300-330 million rubles.

It is known that for 2011-2013, the T-90A Vladimir cost its own army approximately 118 million rubles per unit. But it is obvious that today the situation is different. Since there are no more accurate data, the amount in the range of 200-250 million will not be far from the truth.
https://www.ferra.ru/review/techlife/russian-army-vehicles-price.htm

The export price of the Russian T-90AM tank per unit is 4.25-4.5 million dollars. It is created on the basis of the T-90 and is equipped with a 125-mm 2A46M-5 cannon with the ability to launch anti-tank missiles, a 7.62-mm coaxial machine gun, 12.7 -mm remote controlled machine gun. The thickness of the frontal armor reaches 700 mm, and it is complemented by an active protection complex.

Content source: https://naukatehnika.com/rejting-osnovnyh-boevyh-tankov-po-ih-stoimosti.html
naukatehnika.com

The Russian Lada car has a cost of approximately 1.2 to 1.6 million rubles for the Russian population. Is it worth comparing its price with tanks, if only the modernization of the relatively new T-72 tank costs the Russian budget from 16 to 52 million rubles?
https://www.avtomobiltlt.ru/ceny.html

Well, I hope you're not retarded and you understand that a tank cannot cost as much as a car. What I meant is that Putin doesn't give a damn because it's in roubles and he can print as much roubles as he wants. So for him these vehicles cost the same.  Grin

Anyway, $34 billion in lost equipment as you mentioned, seems a lot. If we take the most expensive tank (T90M) according to you it's 300 million roubles which is around $3 million per tank (which is still a lot, hard to believe they cost that much in Russia). So, for $34 billion you can build about 11500 tanks!

Grigor Dimitrov beats Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets while also breaking him 4 times in 2 sets. Alcaraz holds one of the best ever win record against Single hand backhand players but that didn't deter Dimitrov from going all out, guns blazing and completely outclassing Alcaraz. Alcaraz, is probably tired of playing and winning so many matches in a row as he had also won the Indian Wells tournament but misses out on the Miami Open.
You must respect Dimitrov. Taking down Alcaraz? Believe me, Alcaraz normally handles single-handers well, so big win. Really surprised me. However, Dimitrov may have found another Federer moment. These semifinals? Will be huge. Dimitrov-Zverev, Medvedev-Sinner, great matches. I hope Dimitrov continues. Can he deliver another world-class performance? People will learn.

That Collins-Rybakina WTA match is serious. Rybakina seems safe, but Collins is risking it. Hearing she's going on maternity leave soon, playing at home? She'll try her hardest. Rybakina's fighting, but this will be close. Collins has heart, right? Could be upsetting.

This sure looks like an AI generated post.

War can have a severe consequences on the countries that are involved in war so we have to know how to prevent war just like we have been seeing in Ukraine now. The war has not ended and people are suffering without food or what to drink.
War can destroy the glory of a country if things is not quickly resolved and each country need to avoid that. War is very devastating with higher consequences and we all need to make proper prevention against war of any sort because what is happening in Ukraine now is worse and can be prevented.
Over the course of a year and a half, according to Forbes calculations, Russia spent about $167.3 billion on the war with Ukraine.
The largest expenditure items are: support for military operations ($51.3 billion), military salaries ($35.1 billion), compensation to the families of the dead ($25.6 billion) and wounded ($21 billion) and the cost of destroyed equipment ($34 billion). This estimate does not include fixed non-military defense expenditures. It also does not include the economic losses of the aggressor country.

Every day, Russia spends about $300 million a day on the war with Ukraine. The Russian budget spent more in January–June 2023 than it planned to spend in the entire 2023. In Russia itself, rich in oil and gas due to the merciless exploitation of the indigenous peoples of Siberia and the Far East, where these deposits of natural resources are located, many settlements still remain ungasified, roads have been an eternal problem for many centuries, the living conditions of Russians in the outback, sometimes it is still at the level of the Middle Ages, but there they allow colossal amounts of money to be spent on killing their neighbors every day and for more than two years.

Despite this, Russia is doubling its military budget and rapidly rushing into the economic abyss. Well, it's their choice.

The calculations you quote here have several radical flaws:

1. You seem to ignore the fact that Russia pays their army not in dollars or euros but in roubles. Printing roubles doesn't cost Putin anything.
2. Compensations to the families of killed and wounded military are counted based on what? On false, exaggerated numbers presented by the AFU?
3. Equipment costs are evaluated based on export prices. In reality it costs Putin not more than a price of a mid-sized LADA to build a tank.  Grin

Quote
due to the merciless exploitation of the indigenous peoples of Siberia and the Far East

Sounds desperate. No, this won't work, mate. The latest election results showed that people of Russia are immune to this kind of separatist propaganda crap and about 85% have voted for Putin. And speaking about merciless exploitation of indigenous people, do you remember what happened to native people of North America?  Grin

By the way, in the regions of Ukraine, where the war is going on at the moment these "indigenous people" are in fact... Russians!  Grin

Alcaraz, is probably tired of playing and winning so many matches in a row as he had also won the Indian Wells tournament but misses out on the Miami Open.
This is Grigor Dimitrov's second consecutive victory over Carlos Alcaraz because last year he also succeeded in beating Alcaraz at the Shanghai Masters, and in the final Dimitrov will meet Sinner because in the semifinals Dimitrov also succeeded in eliminating Zverev in a three-set match.
What are Dimitrov's chances of beating Sinner in the final? I quite hope he makes a surprise by beating the Italian, but it looks quite tough because Sinner is back in good form after the defeat at Indian Wells and at the Miami Open he only dropped one set to advance to the final, my prediction is that it will be three sets.

Women's final, Rybakina vs Collins, Rybakina is the favorite but it seems because of her better ranking because overall Collins appeared more convincing here, Rybakina was almost eliminated several times here but in h2h Rybakina is better, a three set match is very possible.

Collins is rumoured to play her last tournament before the maternity leave so she will give her all to win it. I won't even mention that she is playing on home soil. Rybakina, on the other hand, played mostly 3 set matches in Miami and is likely running out of steam. Let's wait and see tonight!

I've read the comments and I am a bit surprised: my views are a bit more lenient and tolerant. I believe that financial crimes should cause FINANCIAL consequences/punishment. FFS, take all his money, ban him from doing business for life etc but I think 25 years in jail is an overkill. Just my subjective opinion.

Sabalenka is out of Miami Open: she lost to the Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina in three sets - 4:6, 6:1, 1:6!

Another surprising result (at least for me) is Murray defeating Etcheverry and going further into the Round of 32! Very nice performance by the British veteran! He is going to meet Machac tonight.

It's a crappy service with high fees but they are still offering one of the few reliable cards for some zones, like the EU.

That's BS. I remember I was having issues with their card/account all the time. Missing deposits, cards not working, mysterious exchange rates and fees etc etc etc... neverending drama. When I thought it just can't get any worse, they closed my account for no reason. Out of all the cards I used: Bitpay, Payoneer, Revolut, Skrill, Coinbase, Binance and many others Wirex is absolutely the WORST one!  Cool
