1001  Economy / Economics / Re: Look for what to invest, not what to eat on: April 25, 2023, 06:00:05 PM
I saw some message in the Bitcointalk.org where some users are trying to sell their account just to get what to eat not knowing that they can use that account to work to get a huge capital that will bring them out from poverty, and make food surplus in their home.

Oh really? How? Teach me!  Grin

As to the account selling, what if it's their business and they create multiple accounts, get some merits, improve forum rank and sell them?  Roll Eyes
1002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could hit $100,000 by the end of 2024 - Standard Chartered - Surprised? on: April 25, 2023, 07:02:24 AM
We have read many similar predictions by many market analysts and so-called Bitcoin enthusiasts about the bright future of Bitcoin. This is not surprising and this post is not a speculation post. What is surprising is that such kind of optimistic predictions is coming from one of the banking majors. The current banking turmoil has helped Bitcoin to win the trust of the people.

Read here: https://www.reuters.com/technology/bitcoin-could-hit-100000-by-end-2024-standard-chartered-says-2023-04-24/

Not all battles are fought on the battleground. Some are fought silently and patiently and time decides the winner. We are surely on the winning path!

Thoughts?

It's a very conservative forecast. Current ATH is around $70k and we'll likely reach (and exceed) it next year. If we take a look back at previous cycles, ATH had been broken in the third year of the cycle. Last time we went from ~$20k to ~$70k so something like x3.5 increase. At the same time, many bitcoiners agree that the previous ATH was ruined by some political and economic events and growth was stopped prematurely, so we can as well exceed x3.5 and shoot to like x5-x6, so $70k x 5 = $350k. So there's a good chance at least $200k will be reached next year. For sure, these are just speculations... Cool
1003  Economy / Economics / Re: New currency from BRICS countries on: April 24, 2023, 10:21:45 PM
Couple of hours ago there is in news on Twitter saying BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) are developing a new currency. It was mentioned by State Duma Deputy Chairmen btw.

As I can see all these things to manipulate BTC right? What are your thoughts about this?

I don't think the idea behind this new currency is to manipulate Bitcoin. I'm also pretty skeptical regarding all these artificially created currencies. USD will die eventually and cease being a global reserve currency, but it has to die of natural causes so to say, any artificial new currencies are destined to fail. I guess they're doing this simply because they can't agree on which of their national currencies will be used as a reserve currency (Yuan or Ruble?)
1004  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: April 24, 2023, 10:08:23 PM
Djokovic missing Madrid is big news. Its amazing how a simple incident which causes
an injury can compound on top of other things within a season, he missed Indian Wells
because of visa rows and now an injury, his season so far has been disrupted.

I wonder if this is a worrying thing for Djokovic and his career, is this the start of
his final years?

As regards Madrid, the threat of Djokovic has been removed so I'm sure the other
top seeds will fancy their chances even more!

Alcaraz has to be big favourite

Without any doubt, Nole doesn't want to take any risks before RG. He has an elbow injury if I'm not mistaken and he played in a compression sleeve in Banja Luka, which is not a very good sign. By missing Madrid (and possibly Rome) he will try to win some time to heal his injury.
1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to convince a sceptical person to buy Bitcoin ? on: April 24, 2023, 08:38:56 PM
Although within this community Bitcoin is practically the only currency in which everyone believes, just look around a bit and we will find thousands of people who think otherwise.
At this point I wonder, what reasons should we give these people to make them realise that Bitcoin is a right choice? The first argument that comes to mind to convince a person who is sceptical about Bitcoin, is first of all that with Bitcoin you no longer need to delegate the custody of your money to a third party (banks, mutual funds, etc.): you are the master and you hold them. What else would you add?

You shouldn't do that. If a person is skeptical towards Bitcoin, he doesn't deserve it. For years I've tried to persuade people to buy Bitcoin but failed every single time. Let go, you can't do that. Everything will come in due time, it means you're too early and their time has not come yet. Most of them will buy but much later and at a much higher price.  Cool
1006  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How much do I need to start mining? on: April 24, 2023, 07:36:09 PM
I know huge capital is required to meet up huge financial expectations, what's the minimum volume of income one can use to start mining? In a situations where you trade with different strategies and still hits wrong targets, if you apply or use same trading knowledge for mining won't one still loss in mining too? Because I don't have enough money with me, so am trying to cut losses if mining too will not favor me I will decided to venture into mining too again.

Can I start mining with $300 and grow from there?

Maybe possible if: a) you have free electricity b) know someone who is willing to rent an ASIC miner for a reasonable amount c) you start with obsolete hardware and shitcoin mining, converting shitcoins mined to Bitcoin.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Benefits of Bitcoins recent price drop on: April 24, 2023, 06:24:22 AM
Firstly drop in the price of Bitcoin helps strengthen the Bitcoin ecosystem by making impatient holders sell their Bitcoin hodlings to others who understands Bitcoin better

It will help those that have long wanted to join the Bitcoin ecosystem quite encouraged to purchase Bitcoin

It will help capable hodlers  reduce Bitcoin spending to in turn help increase demand and value

First, I have to point out that this isn't a "drop", "fall", "decline" etc. This is merely a correction, a tiny one. Anyone, who has been in Bitcoin long enough will tell you that. There's no "bearish sentiment", in fact, we're climbing back up already. So keep calm and have some patience - you will be rewarded for that!
1008  Economy / Economics / Re: it's so risky! on: April 24, 2023, 05:59:02 AM
I don't invest money easily in any asset because of fear of losing that money. i think of investing 80% of total savings.
do taking risk is important or not?

please quote all question and answer it's very helpful for me and others.

Well, you mentioned investing 80% of your total savings, that's very close to going all in. The golden rule of investing says: only invest what you can afford to lose (5-10% of your net worth). By following this rule, you can make sure you stay focused on your long-term goals and avoid making decisions based on short-term fluctuations. On the other hand: no pain, no gain, you have to take risks, without it big profits are impossible. In any case, I think Bitcoin is a good choice. But the decision is up to you.
1009  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: April 23, 2023, 07:22:58 PM
This method is a step by the European Union to support Ukraine in maintaining the freedom and determination of Ukraine's destiny. but through the method taken by the EU itself it will burden itself in my opinion, without gas supplies from Russia maybe the EU will have to pay a lot of money to get a replacement
More than a year after the start of the war, Europe does not seem to have been affected much compared to what Russia was seeing, especially during the winter. The European Union was able to find quick alternatives, and the winter was not very cold due to global warming, so that Russia finds itself forced to sell its products for less than half of its price to countries it considers allies (India and China). More than that, Russia will continue to sell gas and oil to Europe, but through Turkey, in a move that proves its need for revenues.
During the past year of the war, the Union countries secured new partnerships to secure their next needs of gas, and many liquefied gas transfer stations were established. Unfortunately, Russia cannot secure its needs in the same way and is looking for new alliances.

The EU was affected pretty severely, mainly by their own sanctions. Lots of businesses have gone bust, even more are on the brink of bankruptcy due to high energy costs and lack of components/materials they used to import from Russia. They won't admit it publicly, but the deadly mix of inflation, energy prices, skyrocketing unemployment and interest rates is killing EU economies. Millions of refugees from Ukraine only make things worse.

The European Union was able to find quick alternatives? Like what kind of alternatives? You know that they're buying the same Russian fossils, breaking their own sanctions and overpaying direly. Ukraine itself buys oil (diesel?) from Russia via the Baltic States (Latvia, Lithuania) for around $5/liter. The EU and US are pumping money, trying to keep that ship afloat without realizing it has already sunk... this has to be stopped ASAP.

The Union countries secured new partnerships to secure their next needs of gas? How did they do it? By buying the same Russian gas for double the normal price?

I'm sorry but you're completely delusional. Reality check will hurt.

1010  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Betcoin.AG SCAM!!! -1000$ on: April 23, 2023, 06:50:29 PM
@Betcoin.AG is just an impudent scam! They blocked me immediately after I deposited $1000 into their account! They asked for a whole bunch of documents and after I provided everything they just blocked the account without the ability to log in!

"The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later when you access the site." At their new domain is allowed, but nothing loads and the balance there is $0. They just scam me for 1000$ with no way to withdraw their money!

I have all the proof of transfers and my identity. Somebody advise me where to go on this forum to open a complaint against them and they are blocked?

Did you report this issue to their support? If yes and it's expected behavior of their website, please file a complaint against them in Scam Accusations thread. It would be pretty logical if they'd at least refund your deposit.
1011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this Rule Apply to Institutional Investors? on: April 23, 2023, 06:08:24 PM
There's always a popular non-financial crypto advice to not take out a loan to invest in Bitcoin or go all in. These are useful and crucial advice. However, I am starting to think that it doesn't apply to everyone in the Bitcoin ecosystem particularly institutional investors.

This is stale news but I have to bring it back to buttress my point. This JUN 6 2022 headline of this CNBC report reads "Microstrategy takes on $2.4 billion in debt to buy bitcoin despite recent volatility"

This company actually took out a loan to buy Bitcoin. They are one of the top companies when it comes to Bitcoin holdings. I wonder what Michael Saylor was thinking. Is there a possibility that the warning to not take out a loan to buy Bitcoin doesn't apply to institutional investors being that they have been performing well?

You are mixing apples and oranges here. For retails investors, one the most essential factors is timing. When you go all in makes a difference for you but doesn't make any difference for Michael Saylor and other institutional investors. It simply doesn't matter if they buy at $20k or $70k as it's a long-term investment and they're not planning to sell/cash out in the foreseeable future.  Cool
1012  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: April 23, 2023, 03:54:52 PM
A brief overview of today's finals:

Lajovic v Rublev
6:3, 4:6, 6:4

Rune v v.d.Zandschulp
6:4, 1:6, 7:6

Alcaraz v Tsitsipas
6:3, 6:4

Alcaraz v Tsitsipas was the shortest and least interesting final. Carlitos was simply too good, Tsitsipas didn't stand a chance. I think he won several games just with dropshot winners!  Grin

Lajovic v Rublev is a bit unexpected, but Lajovic beating Nole was quite unexpected too and I guess Lajovic deserved it.
1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Storage type for Node help - SATA III vs M2 NVme SSD on: April 23, 2023, 10:56:04 AM
My initial use case is for increased privacy, better coin management and do “my bit” for the network.

Still learning about LN nodes, no intention for routing, just exploring LN for personal use.

Read a lot about people mismanaging their channels so to start with just easing into it.

Yeah I know a node can be run on a RPi as many many people do and enjoy it. However cost wise for me there’s not a lot in it, so for the smoother and faster performance, spending a little bit more is worth it, I will avoid buyer’s remorse  Cheesy

Yes I have noticed the prices for M2 NVMe SSDs to be cheaper!  Shocked This is what threw me as I was under the impression the performance is better and I see a lot of people using SATA 3s.

I’ll be sure to check the health.

Thanks for your advice!

NVMe should be a lot faster than SATA. More people are using SATA because it's compatible with lots of older hardware. For NVMe you need a mobo which supports it. So, even if NVMe drives might cost less, full setup with NVMe support can be more costly than one with SATA3.
1014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is $30 dollars worth starting bitcoin? on: April 23, 2023, 05:24:03 AM
Someone ask me a question after introducing bitcoin to him, if he can start up with $30 and grow with it but I told him bitcoin is wide and high in volume, price and market, that's means whatever you're starting with determine the outcome of the market like for example; if you start with $30 and eventually the market goes up to a little increase of $32 can not be compared with someone who started same time with you, at the rate $100.

So also when the market is down to some extent, the person with $30 may likely loss more because of the money is small. Blockchain has the minimum amount one can invest if am not mistaken but if your amount is too small may be difficult to make easy progress.

What do you think about my advised to him?

The cool thing about Bitcoin is that you can invest virtually any amount. $30 is not too bad. If you can afford to invest $30 regularly (DCA), like for example every week, you can reach decent results. Of course, a single $30 investment won't take you anywhere far.
1015  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: April 23, 2023, 05:11:49 AM
Base on one of my recent post titled"Common Money Mistakes Anyone Can Make"(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5448160.msg62062701#msg62062701). One of the serious point there is SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN. I believe this should be discussed as a separate topic as it's a very crucial part of ones financial life. Spending more than you earn make ones keeps accumulating debt from expenditure before getting income. This isn't good for ones financial life. With this you hardly save money but keep accumulating debt. It’s better to avoid debt if you can. That way you’ll avoid paying interest on what you owe. Below are ways one can easily stop spending more than you earn:

👉👉Create a Budget (or Improve Your Existing Budget)
99% of the trouble that people have with money isn’t that there isn’t enough of it but that there is no plan for it once you actually get it. Your budget (either weekly or monthly) should consider your income and your expenditure. Guide your spendings for the week or month with the budget made. This might be hard at first, but having that extra cash in hand, definitely worth the effort.

👉👉Use cash only
Shopping using card look more convenient and most time encourages you to buy unnecessary things even out of plans. I really observed I spend more money(even more than 20% of my salary) on airtime only any month I load airtime directly from my bank account through USSD. This is so convenient that immediately I exhausted my airtime when calling, I just dial the USSD code to get another. This doesn't help you financially. You get to stop. Knowing your Credit and Debit Card Number offhand isn't helpful for you. It makes you shop unnecessarily online. Using cash-only envelope budgeting system can help you minimize your spendings and sticks to budget.

👉👉Shopping with a list
This is a lifesaver and a game changer. It’s so simple! Literally, all you have to do is write down what you need in the house that week. Make the list, and stick to it. If you only need to get chicken and vegetables and some pasta at the house for the week, there’s no reason for you to be going to the snack food section. It’s a trap!

👉👉Control your grocery list
Having meal plan can help you minimize your monthly expenditure. This helps you to stop spending money unnecessarily on food without depriving yourself of your favorite treats. This will also help you to plan your week without any worries and give you the insight of all what you need from the store.

👉👉Learn to say “no”
Not all goods worth buying at the moment. Although ads may be tempting but one should learn to go off any unnecessary items.

Reference: https://www.pnc.com/insights/personal-finance/save/how-to-stop-spending-money.html

CONCLUSION
It's good for one to satisfy his/her desire when making purchase of items but this shouldn't cause issues in ones lifestyle. The key to stop spending too much money is to create better money habits in your daily life. But I know that’s easier said than done. Putting one or all of these ideas into action, helps in building a healthy spending habit. Take control of your spending today and you’ll reap financial rewards for years to come.

Good points, however there are situations in life when you can afford living above your means for a certain period. Like if you have savings (and you know what you're doing) you can spend more than you earn short-term.
1016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: April 22, 2023, 10:19:40 PM
-snip

Djokovic still in bad form and it dosent look good for him. Clay season was always bad for him but now this is the worst year so far. Losing in early rounds and i think he dosent stand a chance on the french open. Something needs to change fast if he wants to win it

Judging by this article, Djokovic had problems with his right elbow: https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/65354645

would not count Djokovic out for French open winner, he does have bad results on clay so far, but he always starts clay season with a few loses
nevertheless, Tsitsipas and Alcaraz seem to be in form, and would challenge him on RG for sure, I am not sure that Nadal will even take part there, he is obviously closing down his career

I can assure you 100% that Rafa is going to play at RG. In fact, if he wasn't going to play, he'd announce the retirement already. RG has always been the perfect tournament for him and he's going to try to win it for one last time, no doubt about that. He's even missing his beloved clay tournament series, just for a glimpse of hope to play RG.
