Last year was pretty bad for FAA. After a good start, he had a pretty miserable time from the end of March. At the end of October he finally won his first tournament. In Basel Switzerland he won the final against Hurkacz. But after that his time got worse again. Now he has played his first tournament this year. And it is still seem to be going badly. In Auckland he lost in 2 sets against Daniel Altmaier.
ATP Auckland this time was for unseeds because all the seed players had been eliminated and the one who made it to the final was T. Daniel vs Tabilo, T. Daniel beat Shelton in two sets and Tabilo beat Fils in two sets too, and FAA always displays performances that fluctuate but it could be because the competition at ATP is very tight because many good young players are emerging.

Korda v Lehecka - Odds 1.56 - 2.4 - i think Korda as favourite is right, a good price too.

Unfortunately Korda lost and this was quite an easy match for Lehecka, only a few moments Korda put up resistance so he had to go through several dueces but Lehecka managed to overcome his opponent well and reached the final.

Draper v Bublik - Odds 1.45 - 2.80 - I'm giving Bublik a good chance to win this and I'll take
those odds.
Bublik played quite well when he beat Musetti and it was a very close match, and against Draper it will be quite close in my opinion and as you said Bublik has a chance to win and even become champion in this tournament.

WTA Adelaide, Daria Kasatkina was lucky enough to be able to reach the final without having to play the last two matches. L. Siegemund, her opponent in the quarterfinals withdrew, as well as Jessica Pegula, her opponent in the semifinals withdrew, she is waiting for the ongoing Ostapenko vs Alexandrova match to compete in tomorrow's final.

Ah I had a small bet on Bublik but it wasnt to be. It was a close one but in the end he
couldnt do it. I parts of the match and thought Bublik had some fantastic shots, he is
very talented but tries to enjoy himself a bit more than others! Its enjoyable to watch.

Tomorrows final could go either way, Draper has been solid but Lehecka could be tricky
to beat, Draper is favourite though 1.58.

On the Womens side its Ostapenko v Kasatkina, its the 6th seed Ostapenko who is
favourite @ 1.58.

I won't be betting on men's final it's going to be a close match. Normally I'd say Draper but Lehecka has just been so good lately in Adelaide.

Ostapenko is easy money guys.

Ostapenko won it 6:2, 7:5, Alexandrova had no chance against the overwhelming blasts from the baseline by the Latvian. Ostapenko kind of lost momentum a bit in the second, but Alexandrova didn't use this opportunity to take it into the third set.

Final Ostapenko - Kasatkina, who was extremely lucky to advance without having to face Jessica Pegula.

I watched Bublik v Musetti yesterday, Musetti had very little tournament play recently so he failed to convert his match point missing a sure winner opportunity at the net.

Draper has it all to dispatch Bublik in two easy sets.

100% lies as always. Ichkeria doesn't exist. It's not a real country, it was created by CIA in an attempt to destroy Russia. Chechnya is a part of Russia. Russia never attacked Moldova or occupy it's territory. Russia never occupied Georgia or annex it's territory. Ukraine is another CIA project to provoke/attack Russia. WTA Adelaide:

Ostapenko somewhat unexpectedly defeated Caroline Garcia 6:4, 5:7, 6:4. Sad to see a top player leave at such an early stage. Latvian will be playing Marta Kostyuk in the next round.

Kasatkina v Kalinskaya just ended, and I was watching this match. Kasatkina won in three sets 5:7, 6:4, 7:5. Kalinskaya was obviously not feeling well, she had her blood pressure measured on court and she also complained about her right hip area. Too many unforced errors from her today, but she had good chances to win. Unfortunately for her, Kasatkina's defensive play was more consistent today.

Regarding NATO and other things - this is nonsense, sorry Smiley If backward savages have a million cobblestones, it doesn't mean that the developed west will lose to them because they don't have 2 million cobblestones Smiley) Just compare the power of the developed world's economy and the pariah countries that are trying to destabilize the world ? ! Yes, I realize that it is cheaper and easier to shit on the world than to create something, to build a legal state, to adhere to laws.  But this does not mean that the developed world will give up and allow terrorists and scum of the world to destroy civilization! Smiley
Meanwhile, in the real world, savages with cobblestones attacked Ukraine with some missiles. The glorious AFU, the only army in the world with 0 losses after 2 years of war, equipped with the most advanced air defence systems like Patriot, NASAMS (is being used to protect the White House), IRIS-T etc. were only able to intercept 18 missiles out of 59!

Cold fusion technology - also has a key role in the future world, where fossil resources that provide energy are running out and their extraction is becoming more and more expensive. Moreover, this resource is becoming an element for manipulation, blackmail, and economic terrorism. And the launch of thermonuclear industrial power generation will also bankrupt countries that try to terrorize the world at the cost of energy resources.
Yes, you're right, there's a fair chance the US will go bankrupt at some point. But then again, why do you think the countries adopting new tech won't be the same countries, which are exporting fossil fuels now? Reminds me of EV market where Tesla were the pioneers but eventually the market will be divided between the big guys like Mercedes, Porsche, the Japs, the French etc. So, everyone who was good at building conventional cars will eventually be good at EV and nobody will remember what Tesla was in 10-20 years. We can also compare it to the mobile phone industry, where Nokia or Blackberry were big, but where are they now?

It was a great performance from Zverev and there are high hopes that if he keeps playing at this level, we will see him go further at the Australian Open, there is at least a week for him to recover as he didn't play in Adelaide or Auckland, and the MVP goes to Swiatek who was quite disappointed with Poland's loss in the final.
I can't agree that Zverev was playing his best tennis. Far from it actually. He's not very fit physically, he was short of breath literally after every rally. He almost lost to Hurkacz, the Pole had 2 match points but failed to use this opportunity.

Rafael Nadal finally decided to pull out of the 2024 Australian Open after having another muscle problem, I think it's time for him to retire and do it at the tournament that will be held in Spain in April between the Barcelona Open or the Mutua Madrid Open and that would be a pretty perfect time because it looks like he is already difficult to compete when the match has to run more than two hours.
https://ausopen.com/articles/news/rafael-nadal-withdraws-australian-open-2024
Bad news for every tennis fan I guess. However, I was pretty convinced that something like that is going to happen. Earlier, I shared my opinion that Rafa had to wait for the start of the clay season to get back on court. That would be best for him in the long run and perhaps let him avoid this injury.

Good news is that the injury seems to be very minor and recovery won't take long (hopefully).

This kind of looks like it's ripped out of context. By 'we' he probably means institutional investors.

By "we", he means Wall Street-level corporate psychopaths who don't give a shit about anything but extracting as much wealth as possible from the American public. Stop simping for him. Its embarrassing.

Yes, probably, but I'm a very pragmatic person. Remember the "enemy of your enemy is your friend"? Government shills are using individuals like Saylor to distract and confuse the public make people hate them instead of the governments and banks. Very few understand it.

To me, as long as peeps like Saylor are shilling Bitcoin and helping it grow and succeed, they are more positive than negative. But it's just me.

Quote

Stop talking about regulatory arbitrage. Censorship-resistance, privacy, and tax evasion are bad ideas. We hate that.”

The conversation began with a huge letdown. I had asked Michael Saylor what could motivate greater institutional investment in Bitcoin—after all, if Bitcoin is going to the moon, we’re gonna need a lot of deep pockets to climb on board.

“People with billions of dollars don’t want to invest in crypto networks that support anarchists,” Saylor explained.

https://www.btctimes.com/insight/michael-saylor-on-bitcoins-next-billion-hodlers

Is this the same person who was telling everyone about appreciating the power of Bitcoin because he experienced having $1,000,000 of his own money locked in Argentina with no way to send it out of the country? Didn't he need censorship-resistance to send that money out?

Plus it's understandable that the largest Bitcoin HODLers should not say anything that might get them and their investment in some inconveniences, but actually saying the censorship-resistance is a "bad idea"?

Remove the "Chad", just "Saylor", he is not a friend to the Bitcoin community. He doesn't support its ethos.

This kind of looks like it's ripped out of context. By 'we' he probably means institutional investors. And that is not his POV or something. That's a fact. At that level you have to be as law abiding as possible (remember what happened to CZ?) But we can't know for sure what Saylor really thinks as an individual.

Its kind of looking like a Poland v Germany final I would say.
Poland made it to the final very convincingly, in fact France got a little hope for the match to be decided through mixed doubles when Garcia managed to take the first set from Swiatek but Swiatek was still unstoppable, her game was better in the second and third sets to make Poland lead 2-0 and the mixed doubles no longer needs to be played.

Germany vs Australia is very likely to be decided in mixed doubles because Kerber seems to have quite a hard time facing Tomljanovic but Zverev must be able to beat De Minaur, and the mixed doubles match will be very exciting because both of them have very good mixed doubles, maybe Germany will field Zverev and Siegemund again, compared Zverev and Kerber, because Zverev/Siegemund were also quite good when they beat Greece which was a deciding match too.

Watching Zverev v de Minaur right now. The man with a Hitler moustache plays very well so far.  Grin  Zverev barely managed to take the first set 7:5, right now it's 3:3 in the second.

de Minaur did very well to win his match in the 3td set given he somewhat struggled
up until you post!

But it was an epic doubles decider in the tie break decider to elect Germany the winners.

Final time now and its swiatek v Kerber, Swiatek has just taken the first set and a
double break in the second, its going to be Poland 1-0 very soon....

Up next is Hurkacz v Zverev, odds are 2.2 - 1.65 Hurkacz could pull off a winner here, Zverev
I hear didnt get to bet until 6.30 and has played a lot so has to be feeling the fatigue by now

Meanwhile at WTA Brisbane, Elena Rybakina stunned WTA #2 Aryna Sabalenka! Rybakina won the first set with a bagel (6:0) in just 24 minutes! Needless to say she won against the odds, if I remember correctly it was something like 1.65 v 2.5 in favour of the Belarussian...

Dimitrov v Rune now live: 7:6 Dimitrov first set, 1:1 second set so far.

Osaka looked great. Her ball striking has stayed pretty consistent and her movement looked pretty good too, especially for a player who hasn't competed at the top level for a long time. However, Pliskova just loves the venue. I think it's her 10th straight win at Brisbane? She up against another heavy hitter in Ostapenko. Should be a good batter of great ball strikers who have average or below average movement.
Yes, but correct me if I'm wrong, Pliskova has extremely poor record against the Latvian. Both girls are hard hitters and not very good movers but stats are important and numbers suggest Ostapenko will be victorious.
Pliskova leads Ostapenko, 6-5 H2H. However, you can never really predict these matches. Ostapenko, one day finally shows up like the slam winner she is. The other days, loses to 150th ranked player after hitting everything out. It's 1.5x on Ostapenko at the moment but on Hard court, I'm not really sure who takes it.
Ok, thanks for the exact stats, I was quite sure it was something like 6:1 or 6:2 Ostapenko for some reason. Btw, I also checked the stats and some sources say H2H is 5:5, other sources claim it's 5:4 Pliskova.

Ostapenko v Pliskova is one of the most promising matches in tomorrow's order of play, among others I could recommend Andreeva - Rodionova a clash between a Russian starlet and a Russia-born Aussie veteran. I predict that Andreeva will win tomorrow.

Altmaier v Dimitrov is also going to be fun to watch I believe. My bet will be on Grigor.

Kubler v Nadal should be an easy match for Rafa.

Mertens v Rybakina: The Belgian has improved her tennis (in singles) a lot lately but Rybakina seems to be too tough for her to beat.

Russian derby Kudermetova v Potapova is also going to be intense, seems like anybody's match to me.

Yes, Shevchenko lost control of the game completely. 6:2 3rd set Rune.

Are you guys watching Nadal vs Thiem right now? The match was quite interesting and both were still solid without anyone having their game broken, I think this first set will be decided by a tiebreak. This is a match that is quite eagerly awaited by tennis fans and Nadal looks very ready for this tournament, he played doubles too but lost in the first round.

And Novak Djokovic, who played in the United Cup, reportedly suffered a wrist injury during training but it has not been confirmed and he managed to beat Jiri Lehecka to make Serbia 1-1 and managed to win through mixed doubles where he did not play and was replaced by young Serbian player Hamad Medjedovic.
That was a fairly strong performance from Nadal particularly in the second set to win that 1-6.
The commentators were in awe of his performance and fitness after being out for so long.

Yea I heard about Djokovic injuring his wrist and then pulling out of the mixed doubles. I wonder
how serious that is going to be. It might be very minor but here we were before Christmas talking
about hoe resilient Novak is.
Djokovic just played and lost to De Minaur so this injury has affected his game as the match was done in straight sets 6-4 for both.

Not sure why he didn't just pull out of playing in this United Cup and not get ready with recovering from this injury for the Australian Open which starts on the 14th of the month (13th for Australia).
That tournament should be more important to him in the long run and surely would benefit more with a good performance from this first major of the year.

I watched this match and there were no visible signs Djokovic was injured or feeling uncomfortable because of his wrist issue. Although, if I were him, I'd definitely let myself rest before the GS tournament. Anyway, he knows his body better, perhaps his injury is not that bad.

Meanwhile, as I predicted earlier, Shevchenko is taking his match against Rune into the 3rd set! 3:6, 7:5 so far and things are not looking good for the Dane.

....

1. The problem is that you are very confused, being a classic consumer of propaganda Smiley And you think that what you are NICE to hear is true, but you deny everything that does not satisfy your minimal mental needs Smiley This is not my problem, let your psychiatrist think about how to solve it Smiley
2. “Firstly, Russia in 2022 did not capture any territories either near Kiev or anywhere in the north (Sumy, Kharkov, etc.)” - hmm... Are you feeling good now? It’s just that when your brain is removed, you shouldn’t feel very good Smiley But I can’t imagine any other options, or rather reasons for such nonsense Smiley

The suburbs of Kyiv were captured, and they even entered Kyiv - the battles took place on “Victory Avenue” as well. But after this breakthrough, the “non-existent and backward Armed Forces of Ukraine” defeated the elite strike units of the terrorist country and destroyed all units in Kiev and the Kiev region, right up to the northern outskirts (to the borders with Belarus and Russia), and after preparation, destroyed the hordes of terrorists who occupied a significant part Kharkov region. Then there was a southern direction, where the “second army of the world” ran at wild speed, leaving behind a brown-bloody liquid trail Smiley)))

3. Regarding the rules of warfare. Ukraine is doing everything to take the bodies of its dead soldiers, from sorties to exchanging for living terrorists of the Russian army. There may be some options. But Russia is not at all worried about its citizens, who can no longer be “meat”. They actually lie in the fields, the Russian army itself destroys the corpses of its soldiers in order to commit fraud with payments, etc. Besides the fact that I saw it myself, there is also a lot of information and investigations. Cowardice, lies, meanness - these are the spiritual values of the Russian world, including in relation to its citizens.

4. By publishing photos from cemeteries where Ukrainian defenders and fighters against global terrorism and racism are buried, what are you trying to convey? I know that in this terrorist war unleashed by Russia, many defenders died. This is a fact, no one denies it. It was they who gave their lives to destroy hordes of terrorists from Russia.
Better look at the cemeteries, or rather the heaps in giant fields, where the corpses of terrorist soldiers are simply quietly buried, all over Russia.

5. The only media that lies is Russian media and those who live on Russian handouts Smiley

6. “Global nuclear superpower” is a global global mega-fake Smiley We recently listened to a fairy tale about “2-3 weeks, and the second army of the world will reach the borders of Poland.” Now this army no longer exists, they are urgently recruiting meat all over Russia to try to shower us with meat Smiley I heard a screech - “we will launch a nuclear strike” - and? Smiley Putin understands perfectly well that having used even tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine, his fate will end after the first detonation of a tactical nuclear charge Smiley Russia is stupid, vile, cowardly, wretched, a terrorist country. And she will be defeated!

PS This is what terrorist burials in Russia look like:

Haha pathetic attempt to spread your lies! The pictures you posted are super small I can barely see anything there. We can only guess regarding the time and place where these pics were taken. No Russian flags, there is no proof these are military graves and that they are located in Russia. Or these can be as well pics from the 80ies-90ies or something.

The last name on the first grave ends in "A" which is a female last name in Russia. And year of birth is 1961 (63yo). On the second grave I can see year of birth 1935 (89 years old!!!!) which certainly doesn't sound like a troop deceased in Ukraine recently.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

What a shameful attempt! Always check your lies so they look plausible and you don't look like a bozo to your readers again! However, why not?  Grin

Naomi Osaka lost to Pliskova today 6:3, 6:7, 4:6. Not bad performance from a player who is just back from a maternity leave.

Russian teen Mirra Andreeva dispatched Samsonova in two easy sets 6:2, 6:1. Watch out for this young prodigy!

Match of the day is certainly first seed Rune vs Shevchenko. I won't be betting on this one as Rune is far from his best form and the Russian can surprise everyone with a win over the Dane.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: 2024 & Prediction of World War III - Effect on Cryptocurrencies on: January 02, 2024, 01:15:34 PM
As 2024 approaching many predictions has been made about economic crisis that will shake the world with many countries rising up to fight against one another

If these assumptions/predictions are to be true then what will be its effect on cryptocurrency most especially Bitcoin. As we know during war, economic activities are always grounded where many will be thinking only about their survival in terms of living than economic dealings and gains

Was recently discussing with a friend who is of the opinion that since Crypto/Bitcoin is a digital kind of money it should not be affected by any natural disaster or war but for me I believe it will be affected since crypto/Bitcoin is striving because people are making use of it and if these people are affected by war, which will disrupt flow of doing things the normal way, then crypto will die a natural death at least for that period.

Although we both agreed that even if there would be a World War III, participating countries will not be more than 6 going by previous wars but these countries will be economic powers that can/would ground economy of others countries depending on them. Hypothetically, say Russia, it might be difficult to pump oil to neighboring countries and other countries abroad that depend on them for their survival and might not be able to power countries including  Satellites and Base stations (BTS) to generate data. Without data, cryptocurrencies will be useless as there would be no trading of any sort for that period.

Will like to know your view on these as 2024  prediction for Bitcoin, Ethereum investment is encouraging and we don't want anything to truncate this flow. For me I believe there won't be any war significant enough to affect investment in Cryptocurrencies.

Frankly, I don't think (I really hope so at least) WW3 is going to happen. Simply because all major players have nuclear weapons and it will lead to a nuclear war and planet Earth becoming totally uninhabitable. I hope world leaders realize that WW3 will put an end on human civilization.

So, cryptocurrencies will be the last thing you're going to think about in the event of WW3.

Yeah, Nadal looked awesome, he didn't look like he missed a lot of time due to injury. But I have to say that it wasn't Nadal who started playing better in the 2nd set it was Thiem who started playing worse IMHO. I'm not sure why whether due to fitness issues or something else but Domi looked like he was the one who was out for a year with an injury. It was one way traffic in the second set.

A gambling expert brought i and some friends a guaranteed predicted game and asked us to stake a a high amount so that we winning could be huge and so we can give him a percentage of the money at winning.

I don't believe there could be a 100% guaranteed game but yet my friends who are eager to make profits in the gambling accepted to play the gamed as instructed and at the end of it, they all loosed the game and at then, the rest of us were happy because we didn't play the game else we would had loosed as others.

I want to ask, do you believe in experts gambling predictions?

Some time ago I worked for someone who was selling betting tips and I can tell you that all these betting tips and hints are 100% scam. Just think about it: how can you reliably predict results of sports events? Basically, with betting tips you have the same chance of winning as without them.

and the Netherlands beat Norway 2-1 with the help of the doubles match. Ruud beat Griekspoor
which would be expected.

The Netherlands v Norway was an interesting match, the Dutch won it in mixed doubles: Dutch veteran and captain Wesley Koolhof and doubles specialist Demi Schuurs helped their country bounce back, defeating Casper Ruud and Ulrikke Eikeri 7-6(5), 7-5. Pretty logical move from the Dutch team me thinks as doubles players have more chances in mixed doubles than individual stars.

Yes for sure, two doubles specialists v two singles players in a doubles match should be
always able to win and that they did.

For todays matches so far its United Kingdom v USA and its 1-1 so far. Katie Boulter is
on a roll beating Jessica Pegula over 3 sets and Taylor Fritz beating Cameron Norrie
over 2.

This tie now depends on the doubles match:
Fritz/Pegula v Skupski/Boulter,
The US pair are favourites @ 1.44 v 2.75 for the UK pair, they might just pull that off!

Today Poland defeated Spain despite great performance by Davidovich Fokina. Swiatek won her match against Sorribes Tormo and then Poland's Swiatek and Hurkacz destroyed Spain's Sorribes Tormo/Davidovich Fokina 6:0, 6:0. Poland wins 2:1.

Australia outperformed USA 2:1. Taylor Fritz lost to de Minaur, Pegula won against Tomljanovic and Hunter/Ebden won in the decider 6:3, 6:1 against Pegula and Ram.
