41  Economy / Trading Discussion / Portfolio Asset Selection Tips on: May 02, 2020, 01:00:49 AM
Hi Everyone!

I hope we're all having a great start to our weekend. I wanted to begin a discussion on portfolio asset selection. I wanted to know more about what process you use to determine what projects should go in your crypto portfolio. I wrote up an overview of some of my tips, so I would love to hear your feedback and thoughts!

Tips for Portfolio Asset Selection

What do you think?

Looking forward to chatting with you all!
42  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Portfolio Stop Loss on: April 17, 2020, 08:51:08 PM
Once again an amazing article from crabby, dude is one of the best content writers in all of crypto world and I can say this as a content writer because it is quite difficult to write stuff that would attract the attentions of other people to make them read it, I have tried and failed many times as much as I made it worked as well so I know how hard it is to make a home run each time.

Stop loss is something I always adore anyway so having a portfolio stop loss would actually quite in my alley as well, when crypto falls it does fall all together usually aside from few exceptions and it looks like this could be great for those general times it happens. Why deal with putting stop loss on everything, just put one into your general portfolio and make sure you are safe when you are sleeping.

I appreciate the feedback! We will keep doing everything we can to continue producing great content. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for future articles!
43  Economy / Trading Discussion / Discussion on February 2020 - The lead up to the March crash on: April 07, 2020, 01:02:53 AM
Hi Everyone!

In February, the crypto market was bullish for the first half of the month. Bitcoin advocates believed the world events were an opportunity for Bitcoin to become a safe haven. Those predictions didn't last long as the second half of the month saw a return to bearish sentiments.

We published an article to cover some of the things that happened in February. Which events did we miss?

What happened in February 2020?

I think these events will be important looking back on this year.
44  Economy / Trading Discussion / Easy Portfolio Management for Trading Cryptocurrency on: March 27, 2020, 01:01:28 AM
Hi Everyone!

I hope you're having a great day. I wanted to share this article that discusses how you can trade using portfolio strategies instead of executing every individual trade on the exchange. I think it's a great place to start for most new investors in the crypto market.

Trading Crypto through Portfolio Automation

Let me know what you guys think! What other options are there for crypto beginners?

Looking forward to the discussion!
45  Economy / Trading Discussion / Portfolio Stop Loss on: March 26, 2020, 12:49:31 AM
Hi Everyone!

I hope we're all having a good week. I wanted to start a discussion on portfolio stop losses.

Essentially a portfolio stop loss will evaluate the performance of your entire portfolio and trigger when your performance drops. I wrote an article on this topic here:

Portfolio Stop Loss

What do you guys think? Is this a strategy that people should be using for their portfolios? Does anyone have experience using this strategy?
46  Economy / Trading Discussion / Building crypto trading bots doesn't need to be difficult on: March 03, 2020, 06:49:40 PM
Hi Everyone!

I hope you're having a great week. I wanted to share some thoughts on building crypto trading bots. They are a deceptively complex service to build since every exchange is different and requires special care.

There are ways to simplify the development of crypto trading bots. Some of this is discussed in an article here:

The API for Crypto Trading Bots

What do you guys think? What do you use to create your trading bots?
47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet would rather be a “forgetful old man” on: February 26, 2020, 07:28:54 PM
Hey Crabby and shrimpy,,, mind telling us the story behind your names?

I'm happy to share the story!

When we first started developing trading bots, we released a product that focused on technical indicators, algorithms, and building your own trading strategy. It was a rather complex application. We aren't exactly great with naming products, so we were eating Dungeness crab one day when it struck us - Crabby. So, we named our first product Crabby.

After spending some time thinking about what people really need for cryptocurrency. We realized they didn't need something complex, but simple. We then decided to release a trading bot that was the most simple in the market. Something that anyone could use. After a few iterations, we released the first web version of Shrimpy. This website was designed to easily manage your portfolio, rebalance, and automate your funds.

The reason we chose Shrimpy was because it was the simpler version of Crabby.

Hope this helps explain the names!
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Warren Buffet would rather be a “forgetful old man” on: February 25, 2020, 06:08:43 PM
Hi Everyone,

Recently, people have been giving Warren Buffet some heat because he said he didn't own any crypto, even though he was given some by Justin Sun.

Our take is a little different than everyone else. We think Warren Buffet would simply rather be called a "forgetful old man" than support something he didn't believe in.

Read all our thoughts on the situation.

Let me know if you guys agree or disagree!
49  Economy / Exchanges / What do you guys think about Bitfinex? on: February 22, 2020, 11:32:40 PM
Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to get your opinion on Bitfinex. Do you think it's an exchange we should all be using? There have certainly been some concerns in the past.

There is a full review of the exchange here, but I wanted to hear your thoughts.

Bitfinex Review - Is it a scam?

Looking forward to chatting with everyone here!
50  Economy / Trading Discussion / My top 7 exchanges for trading on: February 21, 2020, 11:34:53 PM

51  Economy / Exchanges / Re: OKEx partners with Shrimpy for a trading contest on: February 13, 2020, 12:07:29 AM
A sudden bump with the August 31 post and now this.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5180359.0
Nice strategy.  Cheesy

What does it mean by being a shrimpy social leaderboard? I thought the usage was a bot and portfolio manager?
Is there something else inside. Sorry, I haven't tested it yet. I am now trying to be safe with signing up in different websites.
(Past errors. Hacked.)

A good step forward though for having a known trading website as a partner.

Thanks for asking! Yes, the social leaderboard is where people can become leaders to share their portfolios. Then other people on the platform can copy the portfolios, track them over time, and automatically update their portfolios when the leader changes their portfolio.

Shrimpy currently has 4 exchange partners (and a long list of other partners that aren't exchanges), so OKEx is not the only one. Shrimpy has been around for over 2 years now, so it has become one of the biggest apps that are used by traders in the crypto market. If you haven't checked it out yet, this might be a good time since it's free if you connect an OKEx exchange account.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
52  Economy / Exchanges / OKEx partners with Shrimpy for a trading contest on: February 12, 2020, 01:40:00 AM
Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share a bit of news here. OKEx has partnered with Shrimpy and there will be a trading contest for the next 4 weeks. I think it could be fun. It's free to use Shrimpy for the competition, so there's no reason to not give it a try and maybe win some cash.

You can find the full details of the trading contest here:

Shrimpy x OKEx Trading Competition

Looking forward to seeing you guys on Shrimpy!
53  Economy / Trading Discussion / These crypto investors are outperforming the market on: February 07, 2020, 12:31:21 AM
Hi Everyone,

I just published a short fun article about how some crypto investors are drastically outperforming the market. You can find the article here:

How some crypto investors are outperforming the market

I would love to hear your thoughts on the strategy and how you think this will age. Do you think we will continue to see these great market conditions in the coming months?

Looking forward to chatting with everyone!
54  Economy / Trading Discussion / What tools do you use to manage your portfolio? on: January 31, 2020, 11:48:35 PM
Hi Everyone!

I hope you're having a great day. I was recently rethinking the tools I use to help manage my portfolio. In an effort to rethink my strategy I wrote up a brief article that covers some tracking apps, trading bots, terminals, and portfolio management solutions.

Would anyone be willing to share what tools, applications, or programs they use to help manage their portfolio? What features are the most important for you? What features do you wish existed in some trading tools?

56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Why are exchanges still listing shitcoins? on: January 27, 2020, 11:44:55 PM
Hi Everyone!

I was recently browsing through Twitter when I saw BitMart list TSL. After digging around the internet for a while, I couldn't find anything. Not a website, github page, facebook page... nothing.

I wrote an article about this experience and I would love to hear what you think. Why do you think exchanges are still listing shitcoins? Do you think there are some advantages to having a bunch of shitcoins on an exchange?

Cryptocurrency Exchanges are Still Listing Shitcoins

57  Economy / Trading Discussion / What are the most popular cryptocurrencies for investors? on: January 24, 2020, 10:43:58 PM
Hi Everyone!

I was recently asked the question "what are the most popular cryptocurrencies for investors?" This led me to take some time to investigate what assets were the most popular on our portfolio management application. After evaluating tens of thousands of portfolios, we published this brief study.

The Cryptocurrencies People are Actually Holding

I'd love for you to give it a read and let me know if you were surprised by any of the assets that were popular.

I can't wait to discuss!
58  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Python Scripts for Binance Market Data on: January 23, 2020, 09:55:52 PM
I do not think that such codes are suitable for beginners as they need some technical knowledge of the cryptocurrencies on the one hand and how to write the codes in Python, so who will benefit will be the least.

I check https://www.shrimpy.io/ and they provide a more attractive interface, and it also provides the option to link to more than one platform so it will be the best.

Any way good luck.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, Shrimpy provides two different services. One is for investors who are looking to manage their portfolio, one is for application developers who need access to APIs like the ones discussed in this post. These APIs are definitely not for everyone, they are specifically for people who know how to code and want access to the market data so they can build trading bots, applications, or experiment with the market.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!
59  Economy / Trading Discussion / Python Scripts for Binance Market Data on: January 22, 2020, 07:56:57 PM
Hi Everyone!

I hope you're having a great week.

Binance is the largest crypto exchange in the world. Unfortunately, it still isn't easy for developers to access the market data they need to evaluate strategies, build applications, and analyze portfolios.

I've published an article that includes specific Python scripts that you can start using today to access live and historical market data on Binance.

These scripts also work on every other major exchange, so I think they are a great resource for the community here.

Python Scripts for Binance Websocket, Order Book, and Candlestick Data

If you have a few minutes, I would try them out and let me know if you have any questions or comments. I would be happy to help people get started using the scripts!
