Satoshi is a wise man.
"Satoshi" means "wise" in Japanese.

There are zero people on my ignore list.
I don't need to have the forum automatically block posts because I'm afraid I can't handle it.

https://twitter.com/CanarslanEren/status/448418452701974528And is blockchain acquiring them? Head of blockchain development rumour has it is in Tokyo together with Roger Ver. An article on the 12th of April stated that blockchain is to announce the biggest acquisition yet in two weeks, so by this Thursday. Roger Ver tweeted on the 10th of March: "I'm not in Japan at the moment. I'm just following the reddit updates like everyone else, hoping not to be goxed again..." What does he mean goxed again, how can he be goxed again? On the 14th of March he tweeted: "I'm shocked that there aren't yet Bitcoin accepting locations listed in Macau, the gambling capital of the world! That's about to change!" How is that about to change? The draft states that gox is meant to move to singapore, or hong kong, or macau? - the las vegas of asia? And of course draft says gox is meant to reopen April 1st.
Are we ladies and gents about to experience the greatest comeback in the history of bitcoins? Or just an April Fool's Goxxing?

@Denton
The future 'global competition', or lack thereof, is what concerns me..
@IrishFutbol
That is a little scary to think about.. <tinfoilhat>..feels like I'm contributing towards the centralized one-world currency that the illuminuts have been proposing.</tinfoilhat>
@DannyHamilton
It matters if we end up with a mainstream crypto where +51% of the mining is being done by major corporation - whom, from my life experience, do not have your best interests at heart.
This has been a concern of mine since day one. However, whether that is the case or not, it can still be to one's advantage to leverage seignorage.

You should ask him.

Dont download this, the receive bitcoin address list is missing. And you have to start over.
I was just about to do this upgrade, what exactly is the problem you're referring to? The receive list as we know it is fucked. This is what it used to look like https://bitbargain.co.uk/s/img/sign_message.pngThe new one looks like you have to fill out a note from grandma evertime you want to receive coins,. Is there any truth to what this user encountered with receive addresses after upgrading? Any devs want to chime in on this? The receiving addresses are still there, just in a different place, and that poster freaked out.
In the top left of the Bitcoin Core client, click "File", then "Receiving Addresses..."

I wouldn't pay.
If they are willing to sell your information to people who will do ill with it, than it doesn't seem too unlikely that they might lie to you as well.

I thought it was funny.
Of course, I am on this forum more often than I watch Parks and Rec, so I heard about it here first.
If I had seen that without expecting it, I would have cracked up.

This forum used to be much more "libertarian", but then the masses arrived. So basically, Bitcoin was really awesome until people started actually using it. You sound like the kind of hipster who loved fixed gear bicycles and Pabst Blue Ribbon before it was cool. I said "this forum", not Bitcoin. People who were here before June 2011 are better able to understand what happened to this place. Sorry you missed out... I know what you mean. The libertarian streak in this forum is still pretty strong though, although it has changed, and been dulled somewhat by the influx of people who have not put much thought into political matters and things pertaining to rights and Liberty and little ole things like that.

Seriously? Quit your bitching. Libertarianism is easily the predominant thread among Bitcoiners. You sound like some whiny-ass Christian claiming you're being persecuted for your religion in a 90%+ Christian country. Get over yourself. It isn't quite that simple. Bitcoiners might be predominantly libertarian, but not all bitcoiners are developers. There need to be certain developers with a libertarian slant to offset the statist tendencies of some other developers. As Bitcoin becomes less "fringe", more developers will come on board who may or may not have Bitcoin's original intention in mind. There must be a constant supply and availability of liberty-loving developers to prevent Bitcoin from being co-opted by unsavory groups. This isn't about political opinions of people who use Bitcoin; this is about the protection of the core of Bitcoin as a protocol.
